how many times have you experienced this [Music] pretty full looking car you got huh oh yeah yeah she's she's pretty full all right got uh got everything packed with the kitchen sink yeah no no kitchen sink [Music] how you gonna bring that [Music] well with my new invention you'll never have to experience that shame again hi i am nikki clements and this is a sink you can take with you some assembly required [Music] [Music] so [Music] and there we go there's our sink frame all constructed it goes together in only a few minutes and it's extremely lightweight now for the actual sink portion well i'm going to cheat a little bit and use well a portable sink this is a neat little collapsible camping sink or a drying dish rack it's got some grooves in the bottom for like putting plates and stuff in it also has a drain plug so you can fill the whole thing up and then drain it out so yeah this is a portable sink all on its own but i wanted to elevate it a bit in more ways than one so it just fits right down into the frame where the drain of the collapsible sink cleverly lines up with this simple funnel connected to these pipes which then allow the drain to go out pretty much wherever you like i found this simple solution of just digging a small hole at the outlet of the drain worked extremely well for capturing all the used water now speaking of water we'll add that in just a sec but i do want to put a base on here first it isn't strictly necessary but it will allow us to take advantage of the weight of the jugs and use that to prevent this from tipping over now like everything else that is also collapsible it's just a few sheets of wood that unfold and fit neatly down onto the base to which we can set our water jugs on top of making it very unlikely to tip over at least up until the jugs are empty now speaking of the jugs i've implemented two 5 gallon water jugs so it's a 10 gallon system but i designed it to take one full purified jug and then basically take one empty jug with you and then fill that up on location now to make that job a bit easier i have this thing now uh it looks kind of weird but i assure you it's completely innocent uh it's called the rinsaroo and is basically designed to fit over any kind of water tap sink or shower head and then basically it turns it into a hose now it's intended use is for washing a dog but i mean being able to turn pretty much any faucet into a hose is a pretty novel thing and it made filling up one of these extremely easy and i can tell you from experience holding up one of these to a shower as it slowly fills one gallon two gallon three gallon that's no fun [Music] of course you could make this a one jug system you could chop this whole portion off and just make it a lot more compact you could use the same jug for washing and drinking or just make it a wash only sink or perhaps the water on location is drinkable you could exchange these big rigid jugs for something like this collapsible water jug which would make this thing a whole lot more portable i personally like these big jugs but let's move on to the best part the running water actually let's first fill in this section i have this perfectly sized bin i drilled some holes in the bottom for drainage but that just slots right down in there and gives us a nice little place to put all the washing up liquids i have some dawn detergents some hand soap we have a sponge a scrubber just a good place to keep all the sink related paraphernalia now i really wish i could have found a collapsible bin much like the sink i did find this guy which fits in there but it's too small and just looks really silly i wish i could have found one the exact same size as the black bin so i'm still on the lookout for something like that but for now this works it fits in there really nicely and it gives me a place to store the pumps now this is a very cool little water pump you can get it on amazon for about ten dollars it has a rechargeable battery in it and it's extremely easy to use it comes with two different types of water tubes a recharging cable the pump itself and a water nozzle you simply take one of the tubes attach it to the bottom feed it into your jug push it down onto the jug add in the water spout and then just press the button on the top and you have water so you could just take a five gallon jug slap this pump on it and you have a running water system which i've done for a couple years now and it works really well of course this year i wanted to upgrade to a full-blown sink so to do that all i have to do is replace this nozzle with a hose from my sink and i can plug my button into the back and with a simple button press we have running water [Music] and drinking water ah refreshing oh that's metallicy really get you in the fillings wow that is metallicky ah that's like drinking a battery ah really gets you in the fillings doesn't it now i'm really pleased with the entire build but one thing in particular that i'm really happy with is that the modification to the pump was non-destructive i can easily go from sync mode and then simply by unplugging the button and the pump just sticking the original nozzle and it works as originally intended and adding this little jack for the button was extremely easy to do to open the pump you just have to unscrew the two screws holding it together then it will come apart with ease the innards are very simple but well made and well designed the first thing i need to do is cut a hole in the casing for the plug for the plug i'm just using one of these pre-made jst connectors but i would actually recommend using something like an audio jack with these all you have to do is drill a hole in your casing insert the jack and screw on the nut this produces an extremely clean end result often you can't even tell that anything's been modified it simply looks like it came that way but i unfortunately don't have any at the moment so i'll make do with the connectors it'll get the job done i just have to cut a square hole which is significantly more difficult i will start by taking a grease pen and touching it to the top of the connector i can then press it onto the case where it should leave a mark letting me know where to cut my hole and how big i'm just going to use a utility knife to cut the hole but since the casing is plastic i'm going to heat the blade with a torch which will melt into the plastic like butter making it very easy to cut through and with a little bit of cleanup we have a decent hole a bit messy certainly not as clean as just drilling a circular hole but it will work all the same now i can just solder the connector onto the circuit board where the existing button is glue the connector into the case [Music] close everything back up and that's it a quick test and it works as for the actual button i'll start by soldering a length of wire to the button and then i could just attach one of the pre-made connectors to the other end of the wire but i decided to make my own and if i had remembered this kit sooner i would have used it to make the connector in the pump as well i actually had to bend the red connector to get it to fit whereas one of these is much shorter and would have fit without modification anyway it's a bit fiddly to make these connectors you need to use a special crimping tool but the end result is a nice clean connector i put some heat shrink tubing to finish it off mount the button in some pvc and excellent i just made detonators [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh and i almost forgot the towel rack [Music] [Music] [Music] well that'll about do it for my portable pvc sink i hope you liked it or at least i hope it gave you some ideas i know i already have several ideas for some modifications and upgrades i want to make to it first and foremost i think i want to actually cut out the existing drain so i can put in one of these sink strainer things that way if you're washing something off that has like food on it it'll all just get caught in there you can just pull it out dump it out and put it back in otherwise it just kind of sits in the bottom of the tub so i think that will be a really useful upgrade i also want to make maybe something to shield the paper towel from rain or so just kind of like a cover and then probably a you know a bar to prevent it from flowing out in the wind i think that'll be useful right now i'm just kind of stuffing it inside itself i also think maybe a detachable sprayer handle might be cool you know like if this comes off might be useful i think that'd be a cool upgrade but other than that uh i think it's just about perfect it does exactly what i wanted to do i think it looks really cool i mean you could put like a wrap around it and paint up the pipes and stuff but i think being able to see all of that makes it look pretty cool i guess i should take it down [Applause] [Music] and there we go all torn down again in just a matter of minutes so my sincere thank you for watching once again i am nicki clements if you're wondering short for nicholas and the d stands for drain it's got a drain in it anyway i'm off to make something else [Music] collapsible bin much like the sink i didn't find this guy so i'm still on the lookout for that for now quite nicely and it does give me a place to store the pumps
