okay [Music] hey guys I'm Kent welcome back to the wood metal workshop getting going on jib crane park to finale first up we gotta cut the beam down to size Milwaukee 8 inch saw had just enough cutting depth to cut this in two passes worked out really select gave me a nice clean cut [Music] [Music] all right cutting out the notches for the finitude just go ahead and traced pipe onto the beam plasma cutter die zip it out of there for some reason it's way easier to follow a curved line than a straight line thought we're gonna try to straight-line anyways [Applause] [Music] a little bit of Grindr touch up here and be good to go stuff like this always beat the pricier touch up [Music] [Music] let's flip it over here and finish it off camera makes it look like there's a belly in there but web portion but there's not [Music] alright gotta cut out the support plates that reinforce the connection between the pipe and the beam quarter-inch plate [Music] plasma cutter made short work of this [Music] those aluminum rulers make great straight edges from this kind of stuff those are cheap enough for ya damage is not a big deal same with the aluminum speed square love those things [Music] [Music] [Music] all right little prep work on the standoffs here that go between the lower base and the midbass or I guess the lower base in the base ever you want to call I never can pull the name form anyway it's grinding a chamfer on both sides leaving myself a lot of 3/16 land and a 3/8 thick material so we signed up with t blaster to get you these awesome shirts up to size 5 X you go to T blaster comm flash wouldn't metal workshop campaign starts on August 30th ends September 20th at midnight 2017 all the proceeds from t-shirt sales you'll write back into making more great videos for you guys and I really would appreciate it and I think that's it back to the video finally time for some welding [Music] first one's always the tricky one you want to get it as long as possible and get your tax in there make your Wells and see which way it's gonna move steel always well steel always moves as you weld it so you want to make sure that you know getta know how it's gonna react [Music] [Music] now that base plate is gonna work as well as we put all these in not a whole lot we can do about that then we could have done some stitch welding and let given it plenty of time to cool in between and just mitigated the stresses in it in this case because of the way that's mounting it really doesn't make a difference if there's a little bit warping there or not we can adjust for that [Music] and there's eight plates because there's eight holes six most likely little bit far there wasn't the other plate in [Music] they're all done ready to go now we're prepping up the pivot pin Birds welding removing any rust or scale or coating that might be on there same thing on the end of the tube itself [Music] now I'm just using some MIG wire to space around there and adjust the space was a little bit tighter fit left about a quarter inch sticking out it was a good land for the weld few tax we'll use a set of rollers here that we made life a heck of a lot easier they've done this in one-one pass around but in this case I decided to jump around a little bit [Music] use the mcguire because the DA won't affect the metallurgy of the weld was the same stuffy welding list it will just melt in there I'm gonna clean up we're gonna mark out for the rosette or plug weld depending on where you're from what you call these lines do not have to be perfectly straight with no to because we're going to drill them on the mill that'll keep a straight line and keeping a straight line just anesthetic differs to the structure [Music] they put 8 in a now we're just gonna drill this out I think we used a 7/8 drill bit here and I waited to drill these holes until the pivot pin was in there so I could drill down into the pivot pin as well and make sure those plug welds and a trade deeply into the pin we also know have a patreon if you care to you can go on the home page click the patreon button in the upper right hand corner and give as little as $1 a month we'd really appreciate it there we go filling the the holes here start at the bottom make little circles all the way up to the top till you completely fall you like to do this out stopping you want to do it all in the one one well it just gives you a better better penetration and better appearance there we go all ready to go we just have to clean that up before we paint them the whole thing easily cleaned up before paints though but they turned out pretty good just probably the surface just I want [Applause] all right pivot tube to the beam now we got the beam up on some little blocks so I can have a little place for a weld on the top side see that here as I flip it over there we go that in rolling it to do everything in this flat up position as I possibly can it's always makes the welding easier we can get up a little bit there's those support plates [Music] lots of tax on these [Music] or clean up the other side [Music] clean up the other plate [Music] once again just removing any scale or rust or anything that might interfere with the well more tax on the inside we had time to love it all [Music] [Music] I did do it no no here you'll see it here in just a minute I did a vertical down well oh now honestly I well that the outside in the flat position it's not going anywhere [Music] all right all done now we're cleaning up the other end of the - don't buy cheap flap just these a five-cent no urge discs I got I'll throw them like crazy yeah that's it that's the 60 grit just taking off some scale and Twitter smile [Music] if I once cry once or the kids clap yes by often cry often depending how much work you do but better just you have the longer it's gonna last all right just grinding a bevel on there got a quarter inch wall on this stuff so left about an eighth inch and ever you can see that we've got it sitting up on a piece of eighth inch welding rod to give us a place for a rut pass and get it tacked in here since I can put it back up on the table welded there there we go [Music] better position you can be for welding the better your welds are gonna be it's all about comfort got that all the way around now we're just gonna grind out that book pass a little bit take off any high spots [Music] you know I've come in with that cover pass got about three inch legs on this [Music] there we go and opening the gussets in [Music] it's kind of made up a pattern here keep warping to a minimum a little bit here weld a bit there and I'm gonna flip it over 180 degrees and do the same thing and from 180 it'll go 90 90 [Music] and finally I'll put the last four in the corners you know there we go I'll mount it up by sorry I lost the video for us putting it in place here goes the beam up and in oh great forgot the washer go Bud's gonna jump up here and the washer hold the Nile lift it back up washer there we go pushing washer nut tighten it up boom she's done hear the crowd go wild [Music] so we can see the smile on my face it went a lot easier than I actually thought it was going to so back in beginning a part one I said as Anna stencil 300 pounds on here max so there's the stencil I cut out yellow paint stand up really well against the green don't put it on too heavy you're gonna drive it's gonna run yep the ramp and I didn't do the three out of malice I did fight about [Music] turn it around here you'll see where the it ran underneath the be first David okay you got some grease in there I did but for your fittings grease fittings in off-camera now I'm gonna wet mop clean and spin it around a little bit spread that grease out [Music] [Music] it doesn't quite clear the ladder for the loft my Kobe's gonna spin it around here for us alright guys thanks for watching this was a fun project I'm glad I got to share it with you as always please like subscribe if you haven't yet and comment and catch you in the next video thanks a lot for watching have a great day [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you
