all right hopefully the time is finally here me and Curtis from Heartland dear management right we are going to try and install at least one of these water control gear right we are loaded up we got the two pipes to water control unit tools so Curtis is going to take the side by side and I'll take the Bobcat will head out that way rock and roll baby get this thing done got no idea how yeah let's do it baby [Music] [Music] with just this rough cut you remember when I cut it open it's just right now it's about a foot wide I got to open that up and clean it up right so I took some clay and packed it down and flatten that bottom out it was like this it was a really deep cut in there I wanted to bring the level up so that I can control the water higher if you put that gate too low you might not be able to get the water as high as you want it so let's see how that box [Music] right now what we are doing is shoveling by hand up along these sides and we're just packing it down by foot because I don't want to put the bucket in there too close and Nick this thing and then blow a hole seal out so we'll work these sides and get them packed in and go from there Joe's doing now he's going to move a little bit of this clay taper it down towards the the new floodgate my way when he goes to grain if the water's coming hit them channels and run right down to the floodgate we're also going to use this clay soil to pack in behind [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right so now we are setting the pipe up we got to pushed halfway on I got a hold that while he pushes that pipe on but I just wanted to show you it slides on quite easily that's what it's made for twelve inch pipe and we're moving right along right big dogs try okay we got the pipe level and we had to put the bolts on now that bolt down into the metal to hold the pipe there now we're going to start back filling and packing all right so the bottom part of them pipes were kind of hand pick and by foot down there and then it'll be excavator over the top and then she's a done deal [Music] [Applause] good old Southern Illinois clay [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] all right and there's the final product and there's the union worker leaning on the shovel that's right my name's supervisor right here haha second one turned out pretty good overall I had a pucker moment which you probably saw already but no harm no foul so we're hoping for instance yeah I did pretty good I impress myself otherwise I'd have been coming sideways hopefully we'll see some follow-up here this this fall all right and here's a look at the backside the dam could have been wider but I ran out of dirt and it was a lot of dirt to move if any of you guys followed that you'd remember that the excavator wanted about five grand to dig both of these suck holes so by doing it myself I obviously made it pay for itself that much so there you have it you know this stuff I can smooth out if I want but you basically just slide two by fours right through two slots there one at a time and that brings the water up as high as you want to get it provided you got a good seal and I know this thing is sealed pretty good because it's filled on me once already so there you have it man yep good thing Curtis reminded me it's time for the millet already I thought you wait till like the fall but no we need to get that in soon all right here's a look at the corn it's eaten down pretty good but there are a lot of cobs coming up so we're going to leave this corn and plant the outsides but let's take a look at that other gate
