hey everybody how are you Rod Kaiser from the refinishing Studio what we're going to repair today is a bubble this is an antique Radio cabinet and we have a bubble here in the veneer and this is what we're going to repair today so let me show you quick how we go ahead and do this so what we're going to do to repair this bubble is we're going to cut a slice right down the middle of it all right so I'm going to take a razor blade and I'm going to cut myself a a slice right down the middle like such okay and what that'll do is that'll give me access so that I can use my injection needle there's another tip on our website about using injection use and what you're going to do is you're going to slide your needle underneath and inject glue so you want to get plenty of glue and you want to come in from both angles so let me sliding around here to the other side and I've got a little bit too much glue in there I can't see what I'm doing okay like such slide it down and get some down here push that needle under as far as you can all right and I think that that's an adequate amount of glue so that's step one okay now we'll go ahead and remove wipe off some of the excess glue here for our next phase and see when we push down there we've got nice nice amount of glue squeezing out so I think we've got plenty of glue on there all right now to clamp this up what we'll do is take a piece of wax paper all right I'm going to put a piece of wax paper down over top of the the glued area and that'll keep your glue block from sticking because when we clamp this a lot of that glue is going to squeeze out a lot of the excess glue so when it squeezes out um you know we need a a barrier between our glue block and the surface otherwise we'll glue the block right to our work surface okay then we're going to put the wooden block over top of it and clamp it so in this case we're going to put a clamp right down through the case of the cabinet here a good amount of pressure on these clamps actually I got to get two clamps in here so let me move this one up further clamping I'll tell you I could put a whole website together and different methods you have to use the clamp you have to be a real MacGyver sometimes to figure out how to clamp stuff this one's pretty straightforward but you know as time goes by we'll do more and more of this and show you some of the methods that we use to do clamping up and with some really uh odd situations where it's quite challenging and that's how you go ahead and you repair a bubble now in a lot of cases what you're gonna have a hard time doing is figuring out how to how to clamp it up because you might have a bubble in the middle of a of a dining table and that's just a whole nother subject but as far as how we fix the bubble itself there you have it I hope you found this tip helpful and uh we'll see in the next tutorial [Music] [Applause]
