I suppose its a good way to show the child-friendly end of the villain without having to show a gruesome death. If it's high enough (or if a giant boulder falls after the villain) then its safe to assume they're dead.
I'm kinda disappointed "Treasure Planet" wasn't included... it had the neat variation of gravity's opposite effect being the villain's undoing
This is one of the reasons why I liked Mulan, she took the main bad guy out by hitting him with high explosives, none of this "Ok, it would be convenient now for you to die of your own incompetence by tripping or something like that."
In a Disney movie, the villain either turns good or dies. It is preferable if the protagonist does not kill the villain. It is ideal if the villain tries to harm the protagonist and is killed by his/her own trap in the process.
Easy example is Wreck It Ralph. Villain is not killed by Ralph, as that would make Ralph unlikable and 'dirty his hands', but by the antagonist's decision to to become more insect-like. Antagonist wanted to kill/harm the main characters, but his insect decision resulted in his death as insects are attracted to the light and die.

i would say in sleeping beauty that sword in the chest probably was the cause of death.
The Tarzan one is masterfully done.
Also apparently convenient timing of crumbling rocks.
Wait... why was the Brokeback Mountain theme the theme for The Fox and the Hound?
It's symbolic of the fall from grace. All the villains' main vice is their pride. Lucifer fell for the same reason. Humanity repeats stories.
