[Music] how's it going everyone welcome back to boyle hobby time if you would ask six-year-old me to design a diorama based on the coolest things i could think of it would probably look like what i'm building today i saw these kits online from techo toys they are a 3d download and you can print it out in parts and put it together like a little model kit so i decided to get one and test it out i printed it at a smaller scale than what was recommended so i wasn't sure if that would affect the functionality because these are supposed to snap together and resin is pretty fragile so i was curious to see how that would work after the isopropyl alcohol had dried i removed all of the pieces from their supports and i began assembling even at this scale the pieces snapped together really easily without breaking i was pretty happy about that the design quality is very apparent this is an articulated model so you can move the arms and legs around if you like i wanted mine to be kind of in one fixed position so i fixed it in place and did a final cure i then primed it with a xenothal highlight and it was ready for painting i started off by painting these armor plates with a brown color i was going to go with a brown gray and white theme i wasn't really feeling that so i added a wash and before i knew it got out of hand and the whole thing was brown so i made a course correction i changed those armor plates to a blue it's a very nice blue added little highlights of gray in there then i dry brushed on some of those details i was really happy with how that was looking i knew i wanted this mech to have an awesome opponent so i decided on a dinosaur i was going to sculpt my own and then i found this model online by minister digital art or zbrush is easy on youtube it's got great stuff you should definitely go check it out models are highly detailed my printer settings were off so the seams did not turn out as clean as i would have liked but i fixed that pretty well with similar putt after the milliput had dried i gave it a xenothal highlight it was time to move on to the airbrush i gave it a base coat of green and then i went over the head and the neck with some brown went over that same area again with a deeper red before going in with the brush adding some of the details when deciding what dinosaur to do for this i asked my dinosaur expert friend who is six years old what dinosaur should i add he said don't do a tyrannosaurus everybody does that you should do an allosaurus so that's why i chose an allosaurus after those models were complete it was time to figure out the base i cut this piece of wood to length i added some foam layers i took this piece and cut it to make it look a little bit more like stone before gluing it down i used a new to me method of adding variation to the flat surfaces using the butane torch i wouldn't recommend it it would be really easy to ruin your project like this it is also a little dangerous because of the open flame once that was done i added my plaster mod podge paint mix smeared it on there with my finger and a glove when that was dry i added a black and brown wash to the rock face as well as a dry brushed highlight and i added my scenic glue i spread that out using some isopropyl alcohol and a brush i sprinkled on a bunch of sand i put the paper underneath so i could collect any of the excess and use it later so fine sand that i found at the hardware store i used this hair dryer to speed up the drying process but fun fact this hair dryer is actually the thing that caused the worst injury of anything that i've done in these videos it has a retractable cord with a big adapter on the end and i retracted it one time the adapter flew up and hit me right in the face gave me a black eye and the prongs hit me right on the nose and right under my eye and uh gave me a huge cache almost almost blinded me in one eye you know it's stuff you don't expect you know it's not the electronics or the blades it's the stupid hairdryer it'll get you be careful to make sure the dinosaur stayed on the base better i drilled a hole in its foot and mounted a little rod in there i thought about doing white lasers at first but i opted for green so you got a little bit more brightness so i pre-soldered those wrap the wires around the mechs back and then i glued those in place i drilled a hole through the base so i could run the wires through [Music] right near where the max foot was going to be soldered all of that together fixed him in place painted up the wires put the dinosaur in place the last thing to do was to create the flare effect on those lasers with some hot glue and i called it good [Music] that is it for this video thank you all so much for watching thank you to all of my patrons hope you all enjoyed have a great week everyone i'll see you next time [Music] you
