foreign welcome back to our Channel I'm Julie keeper of my home and I'm Joe the Keeper's husband we have some bad weather in store for the next few days so I'm loading up the wood box and preparing we have a weather advisory that's calling for wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour and wind chill values as low as 60 below the fire will be burning nice and warm and we'll have a nice meal that can be stretched out over the next few days foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] leftovers can be used to make chili dogs loaded baked potatoes chili mac and cheese chili sloppy joes or scrambled up with our eggs for breakfast to go with our chili I'm making biscuits [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign ERS here in northern Maine are long and cold one of the favorite things that Julie and I enjoy doing is cooking on our wood cook stove [Music] I've received a lot of questions in the comments asking if we are either Amish or Mennonite we are neither of those although we do have many Amish and Mennonite friends living nearby [Music] Julie and I choose to live as much of a simple life as we possibly can we like to use our oil lanterns in the evenings and of course our cooked stove for heating and also cooking our meals if you've been with us a while then you know we also have an outhouse that does get used during the summer months mostly by our grandchildren who seem to be quite fascinated with it I like the idea that it cuts down on little foot traffic in and out of the house especially during these keto seasons [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] recipe that I'm using has been in my family for years it's easy to make and it tastes delicious and I'm just going to add to that that there really is no real recipe it's just a list of ingredients and the ingredients often change depending on what we have on hand just mix everything up together in a big pot whatever you have that you drink will go together in this chili and that's pretty much all it is [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] if you are new to our Channel Julie and I are taking part in the Three Rivers Challenge from January 1st until March 31st this Pantry challenge was started by Jessica from Three Rivers Homestead there are no specific rules just whatever works for your family search hashtag Three Rivers challenge to learn more [Music] thank you [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] this chili is a great way to use many of our pantry items items that were canned dried or put up enough for you which allows us to make room for all the things we will be growing and preserving this year foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you for joining us we hope you enjoyed our video and until next time [Music] this is [Music]
