okay as you can see here we've made our penetration we cut all of the insulation because this is an externally insulated return plenum cut all the insulation back on the tops and on the sides made our penetration put the insulation back around the hole cut the insulation to size and then put the finger saver 10 inch tap onto the duct itself so now when we get the 10 inch return additional return duct ran to here we'll have a passive return so that way we don't have any um a pressure loss from the 14 inch when we add the two together all right here you go you can see the finished product we've got that new 10 inch return run over the top and along the side here down into the far reaches of the attic and then if we come downstairs into the upstairs itself you can see right there the new return right in between the other two returns so now they'll be able to get enough airflow and not have their unit freeze up when their filter gets a little dirty
