this is a Kia Sportage and guess what I bought one with my own money because it's all kinds of brilliant for my needs there's nothing else I'd rather drive or is there [Music] aha the Hyundai Tucson very trendy have I bought the wrong car you see the Sportage in the Tucson are deadly Rivals they both ride on the same platform they share a lot of tech but has Hindi used the same tools to create a superior SUV and is it the one that I should have bought in terms of looks I don't think I have bought the wrong car I mean right let me just throw this out there now okay I'm not saying anything bad about this car because this is still a fantastic car but in my opinion I think the Sportage is just that little bit better and that's why I chose that but in terms of looks I do like how this looks I like the grill because it's quite an angry looking face isn't it like anytime I've ever had one pull up behind me on the roads or something I'm like what's this mean machine behind me so I quite like that but I prefer the sort of triangular headlights that's on the Sportage down the side it's a bit like I and I have gone guys we just need some more lines on this let's just add some more lines just go for it just go for it whereas the sports art is that little bit sleeker a little bit smoother but again I'm not saying this looks terrible because it doesn't I like the bum on this I like these sort of light designs here I think that looks lovely but the Sportage has a nice sort of curvature in the bum that I really like this is nice but the Sportage is better so the Tucson is pretty distinctive and like the Sportage it stands out against many of the anonymous blob-looking SUVs out there but this is about so much more than looks so let's jump straight in and take it for a drive right driving wise this Tucson is a smidgey smidgen wooden smitten pigeon softer than the Sportage so it kind of soaks up the lumps and bumps in the road really well this is a really nice relaxing car to drive completely effortless I took this on the motorway to get here today fine except speed very nicely Lane keep assist is very good very very good on the motorway and it's just as hushed and just as refined as the Sportage wonderful wonderful so far there isn't really much to separate the Tucson from my Sportage yes it's a little bit softer but the overall Driving Experience is quite similar they share their engines too with pure petrol mild hybrid 4 hybrid and fev options available too right we've got the 1.6 liter petrol hybrid it's got 227 brake horsepower we'll do naught to 62 in around 8 Seconds you don't need any more than that for a family SUV you really don't this is designed to be a relaxing lovely calm car to drive but when you want it to go it will go you do every now and again when you do put your foot down the revs can flare up and it gets a little bit on the freshy side but it's quite a rare occurrence if I'm honest it doesn't happen that often because actually the automatic gearbox kind of copes with it quite nicely and keeps the revs nice and low so it doesn't kind of go as often as you think it might do but it doesn't yeah it seems pretty good I mean you have a sport mode you can change things it makes the throttle a little bit more responsive but you don't want to do that in a car like this because this is not a sports car this is a family SUV it's designed to be relaxing punch you when it needs to be an effortless that's exactly what this is that's how I feel when I drive this like this oh foreign oh can I also um just quickly mention the driving position and the seats in here because I mean you're a nice ride height so visibility is pretty blooming great but the seats are very nice and comfortable you know sometimes you do like a really long journey in a car and by the time you get there your bum has gone completely numb do you know what I mean I don't get a number I'm in here I don't I've got a nice happy bum in this car I know that's a really weird thing to say but I'm sure you'll be able to relate and you know exactly what I mean you pull up at a service station you go oh I can't feel my bum I don't get that in here get a very comfortable happy bum hashtag happy bum the same goes for the sports Arch as well by the way that was a big selling point for me hashtag happy boom so okay the Tucson is scoring highly so far but there's one area where it differs massively from the Sportage the interior this could be the decider so let's have a look shall we right interior I'll be honest the Kia Sportage interior was a big selling point for me because in there you have two 12.3 inch screens and they kind of wrap around and it looks so good and the tech and everything inside is brilliant in here you've got two 10 and a quarter inch screens which I mean mean the tech is is very similar it's all very nice and responsive Apple carplay I enjoyed also Sat Nav Bluetooth all of the things what you do have in here is touch sensitive everything so in the Sportage you have twiddlies in here you don't and not only that it's on gloss black plastic which means fingerprints are going to become a bit of an issue which bugs me ever so slightly but overall in the layout is all very nice it's very nice build quality I quite like these two random prongs in the steering wheel because it's quite nice to drive like this and you get the same tick when it comes to the digital instrument panel because look blind spot blind spot cameras I just love that oh and while I was doing that it reminds me that I really like the ends of this there's just something about the sort of nulled design on the end of the indicator sticks that I quite like oh and yes in both cars you get the heated seats and the aerated seats which are just love my Sportage still feels that little bit more Cutting Edge but this is still a great cabin the shape of the front seats in the Hyundai means there's a smidgen more room in the back but both cars have easily enough space for four six foot adults the Tucson also gets a 616 liter boot which is slightly bigger than the Sportage I mean let's be honest Hyundai and Kia have made two cracking SUVs I mean they're very similar though aren't they basically the same price I mean there's only a couple of things where one is better than the other so I think most of it just comes down to taste yeah I think I'm happy to sacrifice the extra practicality of the Tucson just so I can have the extra Tech and the more Sleek stylishness of the Sportage I think I've made those Stu you're lovely no it's the one for me
