guys welcome to dance it Network let's start configuring DHCP server well there are different ways on how to configure DHCP server and I'll show you three ways okay so let's start let's get a uh two computer so these two computers will act as a DHCP client let me put it DHCP then client one and then for this PC DHCP client number two okay and let's get one switch for us to connect them all right and also let's get a one server let me put the server over here okay all right so this will be then the DHCP server okay and let me make this like s sw1 or just s SW okay all right and let's connect them using Straight true cable I'll just connect this to the fast internet 01 here and the other one would be on the fast internet Z2 and for This Server let's say let's put this on gigabit 01 all right there you go okay so for this computer to get a automatic registration of IP address we need to configure the DCP server on this computer okay let's go first to this computer over here and let me go to desktop and then IP configuration so it's on the static mode okay after we configure the uh DHCP server we'll try to move this on the uh um from static to DHCP okay so let's open this DHCP server and first is we need to configure an IP address to this DHCP server of course so we'll just use a one network all right so number one network and I be configuration let me just put it on 1 192.168.1.254 so it's on the one network okay so 1.254 and then subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 um it's a Class C okay and I'll and I'll close this all right so looking good so go back to the server and then services and then let me click the DHCP in here and on this section all right as you can see here DHCP so we have here options off or on so to turn it on we need to uh put it on the uh service on okay and then pool name in here let's leave it uh default on the server pool and then on this section though default gateway all right let's say I want this um two computers to get uh a automatic registration of default gateway IP address which is uh 1.1 okay we'll do that I'll put this as a default gateway 192.168.1.1 and then also I want all of them uh to get an IP address for a DNS server of 8.8.8.8 okay and next start IP address um let's say I want them to start with number 10 so 192.168.1.10 and then 255.255.255.0 and maximum number of users let's say 10 even if we have two so I'll put this uh you know 10 okay and we will not configure This tftp Server and wlc because we don't have one so let's leave them default okay then last I'll click the save button there you go if I'll try to spread this if you want to review the configuration that you did then you can check it on here okay so pool name server pool then default gateway 192.168.1.1 DNS server 8.8.8.8 and then start IP address should start with the 1.10 and subit mask Max user and so on so forth okay I'll close this okay and let's see though if uh they can uh pick an IP address so IP configuration and then let me uh go to the DHCP and there you go so IP version 4 address it's uh 192.168.1.10 okay and pick up the IP address and also the default gateway is 1.1 and then DNS server is 8.8.8.8 okay let's check on the other PC let me open this computer desktop IP configuration DHCP and there you go so it shows in here it's 1.11 okay and it's working now let's move on a different level in configuring the uh DHCP server so how about if I don't want to use this PC as the DHCP server instead is I want to use a router okay so let's do that let me erase this DHCP server delete and then I'll remove it and I'll get one router let's see here let's use the uh 2911 okay and I'll get a straight true cable I'll connect it to the gigabit 01 to gigabit 01 okay there we go and let me label this as DHCP server okay and let's open the router configure it as the DCP server okay so command go to command line interface and I would say no in here and I'll hit enter to get started I'll type here enable to go to the privilege mode and then compt to go to the uh Global config mode and I'll type here IP DHCP and then space pull then space question mark so we need to put a full name let's say let's make it basic though so pull number one okay and then hit enter as you can see here the uh config was changed to DHCP Das config okay there you go and I will type here question mark for you to see what are the available commands all right so we'll use this command default Dash router okay so that uh let's say I want all of them to get a u um default gateway of 1.1 let's do that okay so I'll type here default D router and then 192.168.1.1 and then um that's it all right and I'll hit enter and then next is the DNS server okay we'll do that so dns-server I want all of them to have 8.8.8.8 okay and I'll hit enter and we need to identify what is the net networ okay so Network that we are using is 192.168.1.0 okay and then since this is a uh Network IP address it needs to have a subnet mask so space subet mask is 255.255.255.0 there we go and I'll type here exit and last thing that we need to do we need to exclude IP address okay so I'll type your IP DHCP and then excluded address okay so we will exclude the uh default gateway of course we don't want that default gateway or the IP address of the default gateway to be registered on this um clients all right instead is we will exclude it so let's say 1 192.168.1.1 we will exclude this up to to um let's say 192.168 number four okay we do that so so from 1.1 up to 1.4 this will not be included on the IP uh registration all right so I'll hit enter and then contrl C let me uh save the configuration and I'll type here Show run to view the running configuration space bar space bar space bar let us double check the uh D he all right so we did this right so IP DHCP pool and then pool number one and network so 1.0 then subnet mask and default Dash router so 1.1 so all of them should have a uh default gateway of 1.1 okay and DNS server is 8.8.8.8 and we we excluded the U from you know IP address from 1.1 up to 1.4 so uh definitely that the uh IP registration it should start with 1.5 okay let's check it I'll close this and then oh by the way um we forgot to uh input the IP address in this gigabit 01 so we need to register IP address because this is also the default gateway okay since we have around so I'll type here comp T to go to Global config mode and then interface gigabit 01 so IP address 192.168.1.1 okay then 255.255 Dot 55.0 and let's turn on the interface by typing the no shutdown there you go okay so contrl C and I'll type right to save the configuration okay and let me try to fast forward a time there we go so let's click the DCP client and I'll go to the IP configuration let me um switch it back to static right and then go back to the DHCP and as you can see here that it is successful so it start with the 1.5 right so it got it pick up an IP address of 1.5 which is it should because we set it up the IP address it should start with the 1.5 right because we excluded the 1.1 up to 1.4 so this is correct okay so 1.1 for the default gateway and DNS server is 8.8.8.8 okay and next one should be 1.6 let's check it out so IP configuration and then switch back to static and then DHCP again this should be 1.6 there you go and it is is 1.6 okay and it's good okay so now let's move on the difficult level okay so let's configure something else in here let's make it a bit more harder okay let me move this drawing in here so how about like this okay so I will add another router okay and I want this router over here to be the uh DHCP server instead of this router okay so let's do that let me uh delete this in here let me just get a uh fresh one okay there we go and so this will be then the R2 and this is the R1 okay and we'll make the R1 as the DHCP server DHCP server okay and let's connect them using straight through cable gabit 01 to the uh router gigabit 01 it's good and next to the r from R2 gigabit 02 to the gigabit 02 there we go okay right and next thing that we need to do though so we need to configure the IP address and this gigabit 01 okay since this is this will be on the one network okay okay so let's do that so go to the uh command line interface I'll say no in here and let me type here enable to go to privilege mode and comp T to go to the global config mode and let me change the host name on this router let's make it R2 okay so host name R2 okay and then interface gigabit 01 IP address 19 sorry 192.168.1.1 and then 255.255.255.0 okay and then no shut down to turn on the interface there you go Okay contrl C and let me type here right to save the configuration there you go and now let's go to the uh gigabit 02 okay so this is on the one network and we'll put this then on the two Network okay so since this is a another Network in here and it should another another Network should be in here okay so router go back to the router again and then um call T to go to Global config mode and then interface k a bit 02 and then IP address let's say let's just use the two Network okay so 1 192.168 do2 one there we go then 255.255.255.0 and then no shutdown Okay contrl C and let me save down the configuration we go and I'll close this and let me go to the uh this R1 so since this is the uh the 2.1 so this should be the 2.2 then okay so router command line interface I'll say no in here enable to go to the uh privilege mode then comp T to go to the global config mode and let me change first the host name so let me change this host name say R1 okay then um interface um gigabit 02 as you can see gigabit 02 and it should be IP address is 192.168 do uh 2.2 right okay then 255.255.255.0 I'll type here no shutdown turn on the interface there you go and then I'll type here exit Okay and exit again and hit enter and let's try to Ping though um from from this router I'll try to Ping this interface the 2. one okay so type here ping 192.168 do214 Mac address registration but it's good good I'll try again so we can ping the R1 okay that's good all right and for this R2 and R1 okay we need to put a default route okay for them to communicate to each other with their respective networks because this R1 okay it only knows about this network I mean this network okay the2 Network because it is connected to the interface and this R1 it doesn't know about this network okay so we need to put put a default route and also for this R2 we also need to put a uh also defa default route okay uh for this R2 to communicate to this R1 even if we don't have um available uh end devices that are connected over here okay so let's do that let's set up a default route let's start first with this R2 okay so I'll hit enter and then um comp T to go to Global config mode and then I'll type here IP route okay and just the default route okay so 0.0.0.0 then 0.0.0.0 okay and let's say it will go out to the gigabit 02 let's do that okay so gigabit 02 there you go so default route without Gateway if not point point it may impact the performance well uh it should be good to get okay all right and contrl C let me now save the uh configuration okay and let we go to the R1 same thing we'll set up a default route compt to go to Global config mode then IP route then 0.0.0.0 space 0.0.0.0 okay and then since this is the R1 um it will go out to this gigabit 02 to uh go to this R2 and to reach this network okay so let's do that so gigabit z0 slash2 okay anyway though I do have a uh separate tutorial on how you can configure static and default route and I will put that on I will I mean I will put the link on the description below okay for you to watch and learn all right so same thing we got this uh message default route without Gateway if not point to point well since this they are router to router though they should be good to go Okay contrl C and let me now save the configuration Okay so for that video tutorial will be discussed about pointto Point okay let's now configure the DHCP server so let me open this R1 I'll hit enter to get started enable to go to privilege mode then comp T to go to Global config mode and I'll type here IP DH CP then pull and let's give it a name pull number one okay I'll type here question mark for you to see the available commands so we'll use here the default router same thing okay so default Dash router and all of this PC in here client one and client to they should get um default gateway of IP address 192.168.1.1 and also for DNS server you should have 8.8.8.8 and since they are the network one we'll put we'll identify the network first 192.168.1.0 okay and then since it's a network IP address you should have a subnet Mass 255.255.255.0 okay I'll type here exit and then let us now exclude IP addresses all right so IP DH sorry IP DHCP and then excluded address let us exclude the uh default gateway of course okay so 192.168.1.1 up to let's say 1.9 192.168.1 n so that the IP registration will start in A10 okay I'll hit enter contrl c let me now save the configuration I'll type here Show run to view the running configuration well just to double check scoll up see here so IP DHCP pool then pool number one we create this and network 1.0 the subet mass then default router they should have a u default gateway IP address registration of 1.1 and DNS server 8.8.8.8 okay and we excluded the U IP address from 1.1 up to 1.9 so if should start with 1.10 then so I'll close this and let me go to the DCP client number one let's see if it will pick up an IP address IP configuration and static and then DHCP all right it's requesting and as you can see in here that it is not uh you know picking up an IP address so let's try again static and then DCP and and let's see it is not working right as you can see here this is an invalid IP address though it is not correct okay well the reason why it is not picking up an IP address it's because the uh DHCP server is onto the uh another Network okay it is not included on the same network that is why this uh DHCP client is having a hard time in um contacting the DHCP server well if the DHCP server is on the different network right then we need to do something on this R2 okay because this is on the one network okay we need to put a IP helper address on the gigabit 01 since this gigabit 01 where the uh default gateway 1.1 is registered on the R2 right so this gigabit 01 is um the con ction that can um contact this client though okay so client number one and client number two so let's go to this R2 okay and hit enter to get started enable to go to privilege mode then comp T to go to Global config mode and then interface gigabit 01 okay so as you can see here gigabit 01 all right so I'll hit enter and I'll type here I space helper address then space question mark so we need to put here IP destination address so we need to put the uh DHCP server IP address okay we do know that it's the um um 2.2 okay the IP address that is registered on the gigabit Z2 is the 1 192.168 do2 two so let's put that right so 1 192.168 do2 do2 so that it can contact the uh DHCP server okay on the r R1 so I'll hit enter contrl c and let me now save the configuration okay I'll close this and let's try again DHCP client number one and IP configuration go back to static and then DHCP all right and it is working all right DHCP request successful as you can see here um it got an IP address of 1.10 then subit Mass default gateway is the 1.1 and DNS server is 8.8.8.8 okay it's good let's um try the second DCP client this should be one I mean this should be 1.11 okay so let's try let's see static and then DHCP there you go so it's 1.11 and default gateway 1.1 dnet server is 8.8.8.8 okay it's good if you like this video please do
