Greetings for being with us. I'm Kara Sewell, and I'm Mark used. Took some schools, did call off classes as we caution today. Some have delayed their starts. We are scrolling that information at the bottom of your screen. Do you wanna get a better look at those roads in just a moment? But first we want to get over to our meteorologist Greg Fields. I know a lot of folks in Fort Worth are very curious about how the weekend is going to look. The countdown marathons coming up. You got runners tomorrow and Sunday. Do you like running in the cold? Yeah, yeah. Is that I hear it's a good thing. Good thing yeah. It might be a little damp out there as well, so we'll talk more about the precip that does move back into North Texas. That's gonna be late tonight going into tomorrow, but let's get you out the door here this morning. Here's what we have with those temperatures. Yes, it is cold out there. We are looking at lower 20s. Those wind chills down in the lower teens as we look at Baker Park right now at 24 degrees. Feeling like it's 14. But remember, this tower came yesterday. It was a completely glazed over with that ice. So at least we don't have to deal with that this morning. Things have improved some out there for you this morning. Those lower 20s though for Gainesville at 2021 in Sherman. Low 20s as we head down to Waxahachie, Terrell and Greenville all at 24. But when we back there in those winds, we are looking at lower teens. Even some single digits look at buoy feeling like it's seven above. Right now, a wind chill of 10 and Denton and 12 in McKinney right now. So this is what we have heading on out the door this morning. It is cold but at least it is dry for now. So we do get to recuperate. That's the word for the day. Will rate the day at about a six. Yes, a frigid start this morning. But we do get to thaw out a little bit more as we head into this afternoon as those temperatures will begin to warm. So here's your day planner. Now we'll start out with partly sunny skies. Maybe even going mostly sunny into the early afternoon, but then those clouds are going to start to increase as we head into this evening. We'll see those northeast winds at around 10 to 20 at times, but we do get to thaw out, warming up to around 44 for that high. But we are talking about coming up. Rain moves back into the forecast tonight, right through Saturday. A little bit of a wintry mix across parts of North Texas, our Northwestern counties, so we'll detail that for you. Coming up here in just a few minutes. But now let's see how those roads are looking this morning. Hopefully a lot better out there. I am happy to Suzanne looking at me like girl, why you screaming over here? Look, don't be scared, I'm just trying to get y'all attention. The roads are looking good this morning and I am so so happy to report that because it has been a week. OK and I think we can all agree on that. Here's what we're looking at today. OK, mostly green across the Metroplex. You guys know yesterday around this time of morning my map was not looking like this with the exception of a few stalled vehicles in and around Tarrant County. We don't have anything working right now in Dallas. Now. With that being said, let's talk about what you can expect for today. OK, most of that ice has evaporated, but there will be. Some patchy ice present in some areas, so I really want you to be careful out there. And of course, if you have been on the road for the last couple of days, maybe you're one of those essential workers. Please keep in mind more vehicles will be on the road here this morning. A lot of you have been wanting to know what's going on with those tech expresslanes. I have not received an update. We do have some calls out, of course. I've been checking their website. They say they will post when those checks. Press lanes are back open but they did give us some good information. OK, because I still want you to keep those driving tips in mind. Buckle up, increase your distance as I've been telling you all week. Of course, slow down if you can, not if you can. 'cause I know you can and can you see what they say here, Travis, that's our floor director. Check the traffic reports. That's me. Now I'm just kidding. Make sure you check your traffic reports though before you get ready to head. I want to give you a live look up and didn't county this morning 35 E. Right at Dallas Drive again thanks not looking bad. You guys know over the last couple of days we've had a lot of trouble up in that part of Den. Bringing things back to Dallas this morning. Let's get out to Chris Sadeghi Chris there that we're not playing tricks this morning. You are on the high 5, correct? That is correct. Sharon, the reason worth the high five. 'cause it's a lot safer to travel out here today than it was yesterday morning and from just looking at the traffic here on 75 and this interchange, I'm people are zooming right along. It looks like your regular morning, so that is good news now. I will point out as I was getting over here where we are, we're kind of pulled off the road. I did cross a bridge and there was a little bit of. Slickness, precipitation still on that bridge, so there is still some issues out there. Perhaps on the overpasses that you need to be careful of? Not too bad, but it doesn't take much to send you sliding yesterday. Only 53 accidents in Dallas compared to 500 the day before. So things are looking good. We'll see how things happen with this commute, because today those schools, a lot of them are back in class, some of them on delays. So let's hope for a safe day, a dry day. And right now I'm going to send it up to Tiffany. Leo's in Collin County with an update on the roads there. Yeah Chris, what a change from Wednesday when we first got here in Collin County. If you look at the roads now, there's basically nothing on it. It's kind of my favorite part about Texas weather is it blows through and then it goes away quickly. Let me show you what we're seeing on the roads. Right now I'm going to turn this camera around and show you the rooftop camera from our weather truck. We are on 121 southbound in Plano right now. Nothing on the road but a few cars. The ice has cleared and it has been smooth sailing, you know. Yesterday we were driving as Marcus took said as slow as snails. Turtles can go faster than us, but today we are back to regular speed and the best part is guess what you guys today we did not use deicer at all on our camera. We didn't need to. I'm like yesterday where we had to spray it like four times an hour so it is indeed a happy Friday. Let's send it back to you guys. Yeah, before you head out today do download our WFA app for up-to-date forecast, especially over the weekend lot going on any kind of weather alerts, it's free to download in your App Store.
