hello everyone this is just a dad today i'm going to do a detailed review on this mocha master kbg coffee maker so this is a higher end coffee maker this can cost anywhere from 300 to about 360 dollars i got the one with the glass coffee pot so i was a little skeptical of paying this much for a coffee maker i'm glad i did i'm really impressed with it is definitely made very nice nice quality handmade by the dutch it's got a five year warranty a lot of the parts were made to be replaced and it and it actually brewed a really nice cup of coffee so this is just a coffee maker it it's a 10 cup coffee maker so let's just look at it you got a water reservoir here it's got some marks on it it's got a lid this is where you put the water this is a little different filter basket you got this cover so you got to take this cover off and then it takes cone filters number four paper cone filters they don't recommend using reusable filters you've got this handle and you got to kind of lift it and then it comes out so it's a little different you've got this brew head i'm going to show you that you've got this coffee the cafe you've got a warming plate now this warming plate this switch here is for the warming plate it's kind of a a low and a high for the warming plate in this position it keeps the coffee at 175 in this position it keeps it at 185 so that's nice i just want to show you this i mean it's got a a little bit of a plastic feel to it a little bit of a metal feel to it it it feels very well made but then there are some things that you know could get broke very easy but i just want to turn it over there's the brew head i'm going to show you when the water comes out here's the bottom that's kind of like a cardboard like a pipe like a phenolic or something this thing is pretty powerful 120 volt 60 50 or 60 hertz 1475 watts yeah that's pretty good that's that's a lot of power and you can kind of tell because the the cord is really heavy duty i mean it feels like a heavy duty extension cord three-prong back to the coffee cafe so it does have this where the brew the coffee that it brews it's mixed comes out this tube and comes out the bottom you know this is probably the cheapest part of the whole machine is this handle right here just you know for such a good quality coffee maker the handle just feels like a little cheap but it works fine like i said it's got a warming plate it's a very simple machine it's just got an on off button there is no time ring or anything like that it will turn off after about an hour and 40 minutes 100 minutes they call it again back to the so it does have paws brewing so it's got this little plunger on the bottom so you can take the during the brew you can take this out grab a quick cup and put it back that plunger will stop the coffee from coming out this feels pretty lightweight but it's got these little ears that you got to go in i took a little getting used to and then again kind of like a lid and then another lid you know the lids feel pretty cheap but overall the machine feels very nice dimensions side to sides about 13 and a half left to right about six and a half height wise it's not very tall so it's about 15 inches tall but you don't need much room above it i mean you got you can take this off you got to be able to to pour water in here and you got to lift this off so you don't need a lot of height above the machine the cord is exactly four feet long that's a pretty nice long cord does come with this mocha master scoop it's two tablespoons is what that's equivalent to but i find that two tablespoons is a little bit more this is just a little bit less than two tablespoons according to what i did but they say it's two tablespoons [Music] so this is a quick brewing machine um they say it brews we're gonna time it they say it brews in six minutes a full ten cups like i said it does have auto off so it'll keep your coffee warm for 100 minutes which is an hour and 40 minutes after that hour and 40 minutes it will automatically turn the switch off and the and the only other switch is this one which is the warming plate so you've got two switches that's it on which starts the brewing off and then warming plate so when you start reading about these mocha masters people really start it's kind of a different level of brewing coffee people talk about using filtered water if your tap water is really hard you're definitely not going to want to use it they also talk about not using the coffee the pot so a lot of people will just fill this up with water and then they pour it into here um it's probably better to get an external thing to pour the water in here because you can get some leftover coffee taste in there and stuff so it's nice to get nice fresh water into here they also talk about a lot about the coffee so they really recommend so when you start using these machines they really recommend grinding your own coffee you know grind it that morning with a burr grinder and then put it in but i'm going to use already ground coffee you can get some really good tasting coffee when you grind your own beans you do lose a lot of flavor when you get these packages that are already ground now this coffee maker will do any standard ground drip coffee maker which is ground at a medium grind again another big selling point is a five year warranty and from what i read for the reviews online they do stand behind it and a lot of parts are made to be changed which is unlike a lot of your old your cheap plastic coffee makers which are kind of like throwaway a lot of these parts are made to be changed now i'm not sure you can change the parts but at least you can send it in and they can just change the part the next big selling feature so is the heating element so in here you've got a copper heating element that's what heats the water then sends it up to the brew head in most standard coffee makers that's an aluminum heating element and it's the heating element that does the warming plate too it's kind of all in one so this has two separate heating elements one for the warming plate and one for the water so they talk about water temperature a lot so the water coming out of the brew head they say needs to be about 196 to 205 and i'm i'm gonna measure it and you do get about that temperature so that seems to be really important with brewing after temperature they talk a lot about time so you don't want your coffee to brew real slow and you don't want it to brew real fast so time seems to be a very critical part of the brew process and you don't want your coffee to sit around for a very long time so enough talk let's get to brewing some coffee so again they recommend number four cone-shaped filters 8 to 12 cup and again it's a little it's better to take the filter basket off it does sit nice and flush it sits nice and level so put your cone filter in just kind of make sure it hugs the sides now there are some people that wet their filters first before they put their coffee in i'm not i'm not doing that yet but i'm just going to put the filter in and one of the seals they follow is the s special coffee association america and the european coughing brewing center they both have those seals so the amount of coffee can get kind of complicated they talk in here about for a full 10 cups use seven level scoops again that's the mocha master scoop or they say two tablespoons so 14 tablespoons or seven of these scoops and then it says the sca approve is two tablespoons for every six ounces of water but this isn't european cups so each cup is four ounces so i did a little math you can if you do 10 cups again 14 tablespoons 7 scoops 5 cups 3.5 scoops 7 tablespoons and 2 cups 3.0 so again this is going to brew whatever water you put in is the amount it's going to brew this is not like a reservoir that you press a button and select how much to brew so i'm going to do a full pot i'm going to fill it up to the 10. now if i want to do a six cup i would just fill it up to the six and i would have to put the appropriate amount of coffee grounds in but since i'm doing 10 i'm gonna go ahead and put seven scoops or 14 tablespoons okay so i've got my coffee grounds in there i'm gonna put this in the machine again it's a little bit different i'm gonna put my water in and before you put your water in you probably should put your lid on it just kind of slides on there it kind of sits there so again i'm gonna put i'm using another container to put my water in i'm gonna it's nice and easy to fill up nice big opening all the way to the tin mark okay okay so i got everything right i got my lid back on i got this lid on coffee grounds are in coffee pots there now simply just turn this switch on helps if it's plugged in turn the switch on there is a little light that lights up that's really nice and it should start brewing almost immediately now that you're going to be able to see the water coming up inside that center tube now i've been reading about coffee and it a lot has to do with the coffee bloom the initial hot water that goes into the coffee i actually think this one does a pretty good job with the bloom so i'm taking this off just so we can see what's going on again let's check that water coming out you know it's yeah it's earlier i had 195 it's just a little hard to there when you get it coming out really good here we've got that initial bloom coming you can see the water is being boiled up that center tube there and it's coming out and then it's going down that tube and that tube kind of just helps mix the coffee so it kind of forces kind of a mixture going on inside there so the machine is very quiet and it is very fast it'll brew this full 10 cups in about six minutes it does have paws brewing so if i want to grab a cup of coffee real quick it will there is a plunger that stops it from coming out and then when i put this back it continues the brew so i don't normally see that with like your cheapy coffee makers this big bro this big bloom yeah i think the temperature has a lot to do with that yeah there's that 197 198 200 yeah so they're right on the mark with what they said and you can see the coffee again i'm not a coffee expert but i know that that's important so if you have the lid on um you don't get much steam coming out around it and again it's super quiet it's just slowly taken down there's a heating element in here and then it's sending it up that tube i've got the switch on the hotter settings so it should keep the coffee at 185 and i can switch this anytime so i did notice so this gets a little this lid gets a little hot so this is definitely helping with the brew process so i'm probably interrupting the brew process by taking this off but i just want to show everybody what's going on it's not overflowing the coffee grounds or the filter that's good it's getting close we're getting down to the end now this talked about keeping a constant temperature the whole time which is important too so again it's not super loud at the end of the brew process either you don't get any notification that it's done like some coffee makers beep at you some do you know this is a very simple machine but it's fast so there we're almost done we still got some coffee coming out i'm gonna do another video where i do a comparison with some cheap mr coffee makers i'm gonna do a side-by-side comparison with them and see if the coffee comes out anywhere near looking like that or tasting like this i'm very impressed with how this coffee tastes so it's done heating the water we're just waiting for the coffee to finish dripping out of the coffee basket and so we're just about done and again if i want to grab a cup of coffee i can just take it out and it stops it from coming out and put it back then it continues so let's see how this coffee maker pours now there's a whole nother um yeah porsche really good i'm impressed but to me the coffee pot feels just a little cheap right here but that's a really hot cup of coffee yeah coffee cools off really quick now there's there's a whole nother um group out there that preheats their mugs i didn't realize that was a thing but yeah that's a that's people heat their mugs up so their coffee doesn't cool off when they first see how it cools off so quick but that's a really hot cup of coffee and let's see if we can see the temperature inside here i've got it on the higher setting yeah 180. supposed to keep it at 185. okay so i've let this coffee cool a little bit and i've done a taste test i am very impressed with how this coffee tastes i didn't think you could make coffee taste better to be honest with you but i've only been drinking coffee for three years and it's kind of had a standard taste to me from normal coffee makers and keurig machines but this is taking it to a different level and i'm not i didn't realize that coffee could taste different i was very skeptical about paying 300 for a coffee maker the most i've paid is a hundred dollars for a bun coffee maker and i thought the bun was one of the best coffee makers they make but there is something to this mocha master um again i think it all comes back to the actual the bloom and the brew process i think this is really really important and again you could really improve the taste of your coffee by grinding the beans that day that morning getting you know getting even more flavor out of your coffee let's go over clean up so it does get all the water almost out of the cof the reservoir this is not really removable but you can somewhat clean it if you had to and then again so i constantly are making the mistake of trying to lift the filter up with this lid on but you've got to remove this lid first you would think it it looks like it would come off with the lid on but it just won't so take the lid off then you can lift this up and tilt it and then it comes off so again it's not going to drip on you as you go over and dump that out okay so let's talk clean up now i've got all the parts over there at the sink you just want to wipe these down with a with a cloth you really can't submerge this in water or anything so unfortunately they don't they don't want you to put the stuff in the dishwasher it says it's not dishwasher safe so you do have to wash it all by hand but it is pretty relatively simple to wash you can get your hand in here and scrub if you had to the lid is hinged and comes off so i've got it all back together now it looks really nice it looks a little unconventional it doesn't look like a standard coffee maker but if you're looking to the kind of like a different level of coffee makers this is definitely a different different level again i was very skeptical of it but it's got really good reviews and the more you read about coffee the more the things that this thing's doing like the brew and the temperature and the bloom those all seem really really important again it is over 300 so that that is a this is a pretty expensive coffee maker but it does come with a five-year warranty the reviews i read is it does last a long time and i'm going to replace my bun coffee maker so right now i use a bun just because it's so fast i can have a full pot of coffee in about four minutes but i'm gonna replace it with this because i can have another full pot of coffee in six minutes with this well five to six minutes but the flavor was just i was just really blown away by the flavor and again i'm not a coffee expert by no means but i can definitely taste the difference and it was for the good so the coffee it wasn't it was a little stronger but it wasn't more bitter and it was more of the coffee flavor if that makes any sense at all and again i didn't even think that was possible because i've just been kind of drinking coffee out of standard coffee makers and buns and mr coffees and but this thing is definitely definitely on a on a different level so i'm definitely giving it my just a dad sticker seal of approval i'm gonna do i'm gonna do some comparison videos so i'm gonna compare this to my bun i'm gonna compare it to a cheap mr coffee like a 30 mr coffee maker and kind of see if we can see the differences in the coffee and how it brews and how it tastes i'm also going to do a descale video now they do not recommend descaling this with vinegar and i'm going to follow those directions normally i descale all my stuff with vinegar but they want us to use a special stuff i i bought it and i'm going to use it and i'll show you i'll do a video on how to descale this again i just recently became an amazon affiliate so if you see a link to this coffee maker or any of the products i use down in the description if you click on them i do get a little bit of money from that and that'll help with the cost the things i buy off of amazon i really appreciate everybody's support i recently surpassed 4 000 subscribers this week and it's just absolutely been amazing i couldn't do it without everybody out there watching i really appreciate my videos are intended to help i'm really enjoying the coffee journey i'm on again i started three years ago very intimidating had no idea what was going on started out drinking coffee with lots of sugar milk everything else in it to just kind of get away from the bitterness but i'm slowly starting to get um where i'm really enjoying the taste of coffee now i still have to put cream and sugar in it but i'm slowly and starting to enjoy more of the flavor of coffee again look for my comparison videos i'm going to do side-by-side comparisons with this and i'm even going to start getting i'm going to get the oxo coffee maker and there's a couple other coffee makers that are kind of expensive they're kind of in the 300 range i'm gonna get two or three of those and i'm gonna do side by side comparisons with those but this was from a viewer on one of my previous live streams on saturday a viewer asked me about a mocha master and i actually had never heard of it until i started doing a little research and i thought well it's expensive i can't get it right now but i've been working up towards it and um and i actually bought this one on amazon's used so if you if you see their little new and used uh link this is a 330 dollar coffee maker i got it for 230 dollars so i saved a hundred dollars it said it had some imperfections on it i can't find the imperfections um but it didn't come with the box but it came with the instructions and everything but it looked brand new to me so i saved a hundred dollars by using the amazon used again thanks everybody i really appreciate it if you could please like and subscribe
