so you want to play destiny 2. well i've got a few tips that i wish i had known last year as a returning player that i think applied really really well to new players as well destiny 2 is a game filled with things to do for new players old players returning players there's a lot and it can get really overwhelming there's multiple story lines dozens of quests and expansive worlds each with their own activities and things to collect and all in all there's just a lot to do when you're first starting out and i mean the first few times that you open the game i highly recommend that you play around in different game modes try and do activities with other people and figure out what you enjoy i also highly recommend playing around with each of the three classes hunter titan and warlock so you can find which best suits your play style use a lot of different weapons and don't worry about finding the perfect weapon or armor role right at the start those roles are going to come over time and really they're only important for the high difficulty end game activities there are a handful of different weapon types each with a bunch of varying archetypes so get in there mess around find out what you like what you don't like everybody's different and preferences don't always tend to line up with what others might say is the best by playing and finding what you like to use for different situations different game modes different activities you're going to be able to narrow down your search for the perfect god role in the future there are a lot of exotics to collect in the game and some are better than others exotic ciphers can be redeemed in the exotic kiosk at the tower along with some other materials in order to get exotics that can't be found anywhere else standard exotic ciphers can only be earned in two ways through the season pass and through a weekly quest that you can get from zerg these ciphers are key to getting some of the best exotic weapons for high dps especially in the endgame activities every week when zerg visits he's going to give you an opportunity to purchase an exotic engram for legendary sharks that's guaranteed to be an exotic you haven't already collected along with an exotic weapon and exotic armor if players have an exotic cipher in their inventory they can also choose to purchase another additional exotic engram from zur purchasing the exotic from zurb by using your exotic cipher is almost always going to be a waste exotic ciphers take a long time to earn and they need to be used sparingly the exotics in the angram from zur can be earned from any exotics that you pick up off the ground and by purchasing weekly armor and weapons from zern the exotics in a kiosk can only be purchased with an exotic cipher and like i said before they are very strong when paired with different loadouts for end game activities i highly highly recommend only using exotic ciphers for purchasing exotics from the kiosk assuming you earn one exotic cipher per week which is the max that you can earn it will take you over 30 weeks to unlock every single weapon in the kiosk using that exotic cipher on an exotic engram from zur is going to add another week to the timeline to unlock the exotics in the kiosk for new players returning players those exotics and the exotic kiosk are going to be the last exotics that you unlock with how many are in there next i want to talk about master working armor and weapons rarely is it worth it to completely masterwork a piece of armor or a weapon as a new light especially when that armor and that weapon aren't god rules aren't the perfect roles with the perfect stats that you would want high-end masterwork materials are hard to come by and need to be used sparingly i recommend using those masterwork materials on high stat armor there are plenty of guides on the best way to get high stat armor but some of the easiest and most consistent ways come from completing the seasonal activities and purchasing upgrades and armor from the seasonal kiosks at the helm when you're deciding what to master work focus first on what armor mods are going to benefit you the most whether it's auto loading targeting faster reloading or something else entirely master working your ghost is another important thing to consider so that you can equip mods to help you find more legendaries after completing activities gain more experience and also find armor pieces with higher guaranteed stats in your desired category completely master working weapons isn't something that i think should be focused on at the beginning as the benefits that come from this are typically fairly small you want to focus on master working armor so you can equip the mods that you want so you can have more mods equipped because those mods are going to help you in the long run more than it will to have slightly better stats on your weapons when you are collecting materials to masterwork be sure that you have a ghost mod equipped if you can equip it that will increase your chance of maintaining the enhancement prisms or cores depending on what you're trying to get this helps increase the odds that they will drop at the end of activities and every little bit makes a difference there are certain activities that you can do that have different odds of rewarding masterwork materials higher difficulty nightfalls legendary lost sectors and more finding a group that you can quickly run through these with helps a lot as well as the faster you can get through them the faster you can get the materials you're looking for lastly have fun and if you're ever feeling overwhelmed trying to get something done or grinding for a specific armor weapon mass work materials just take a break and do something else don't try and do everything at once understand that destiny 2 is a live service game which means there are new things to do and things being changed almost weekly there are some activities that are a little more than just shoot enemies and survive with more complicated mechanics and in my opinion those raids and dungeons are where the game really shines getting a group together and playing helps to break up the monotony of the game at times when you get sick of running the same activities over and over looking for one specific weapon in the end the most important thing to remember is to just play the game how you want there is not a right or a wrong way to do things but there are some things that you can do to save yourself time and headache in the future i'm always looking for people to run activities with so hit me up in the comments or through discord my username is in the description below as always and if you found this video helpful please be sure to leave a like and
