hey peeps welcome back to project anonymous and in today's video we're gonna make a completely in-the-hoop embroidered keychain so let's get cute [Music] so for this project we're going to use some eyelet so it will be able to hook to a key chain we also want to make it double-sided so that we could see that it's the rv keys on both sides we're in inkscape and we're in our 4x4 hoop template and we're just going to make a rectangle with our square tool now we're going to make our rectangle less rounded by dragging up the little circles i'm going to click my rectangle twice and then rotate it i'm going to path object to path now i'm going to go to my node tool and kind of bring out a triangle shape now i'm just going to refine it a little bit [Music] [Music] i'm going to hold down shift and select my color to give it a stroke and then i'm going to press x to get rid of the fill i'm going to go to my fill and stroke tab and then i'm going to go to stroke style and then i'm going to change the type of line to a dashed line to get a nice straight stitch now i'm going to my lettering tool by going to extensions ink stitch lettering and then i'm going to pick a font [Music] so now we're going to move and resize our text [Music] this is not necessary but we're going to change our color to blue by going to shift blue [Music] so now we're going to copy and paste our outline by doing command c and command b [Music] so we're going to duplicate our outline by doing command d and then we're going to go to our stroke style and change it to a satin stitch and change the size to make it a little bit bigger [Music] we ended up flipping the outline back because we realized that the shape we crave wasn't symmetrical and because we will have to attach it from the underside of our hoop we need to flip the shape vertically since this part will be cut out and placed under the other side we will have to go to the object tab and flip it horizontal then vertical so it will look right [Music] [Music] now we'll move it to place since the design is a little big we're going to select everything and then hold ctrl and shrink it down a little bit and then move it to place so now we're going to do a params check by going to extensions ink stitch params and it seems like we have an error so now we're going to do a pram check on each individual um part so we can see which part is the problem [Music] [Music] so it seems to be our lettering gui text which we've had problems with our lettering gui text not working in the prams check but then it works when we embroider it so we're just going to do our simulator realistic preview and see if it works so now we're just going to organize everything to layers until we like how it stitches out [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so now we're just going to go back to our simulator realistic preview and see how this will stitch up so our plan for this to stitch out is we're going to be outlining what our keychain is going to look like on a piece of fabric over stabilizer and then we're going to add our rv keys text so then we'll cut out the bottom part of the keychain and stick it under the stabilizer and then we'll do a satin stitch which will lock both sides together now we're going to go to file save as and then we'll save our design as a zip file which will save it as a svg and pes [Music] so now the first part's done now what we're going to do is we're going to cut out this bottom one and then double sided tape it to this one from the underside run a running stitch around it to hold it down and then do a satin stitch to hold it all together [Applause] just like that and run this back to the machine and we're going to repeat this outline stitch to hold both sides together and we're going to take it back out of the machine cut off all the excess and then do a satin stitch all the way around sounds like a plan let's get to it trying to get as close as i can cutting through but this batting stuff is so thick it's a little bit more challenging we have some excess tearaway stabilizer out here but that should be okay we'll just tear it off yeah so that's the back side front side let's go put a satin stitch all around the edge [Music] okay we just finished so now we just have to cut off the extra um tearaway stabilizer and then add some nice buttons we even have to cut it and just tear it away and then we can put the final step which like you said they're not buttons they're called eyelets and we'll put a link in the description we've got them on amazon and they come in a bunch of different colors and it even comes with a tool to punch it and to put on these little rivets [Music] [Music] [Music] so what we're gonna do now is put on the eyelet onto the edge to turn this into an actual keychain because right now it wouldn't be very useful as a keychain so this tool that we got it comes with on the top here is a little punch you can see that comes down there and it will punch through the material and then once it's punched you pick what kind of eyelet and i like this one because it came with colored eyelets so we're going to use like a white one today to match our threading and then it comes with a little back air a backer here that once you punch the hole you put this in you put the backer on and then the tool will crimp it down into a nice little riveted eyelet see how this turns out not going to be terribly clean because it's yeah fabricating this cotton material i think you would work better with like maybe a marine vinyl oh yeah it would work perfectly with the ring so now what we do is we put our little pigment in there and then on this side put our backer and like that put it into the crimper squeeze you can see it rolled this riveted part down holding on the backer and it has a nice little right front there i'm just gonna cut these jump stitches and we are done put on the keys [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so it finished and i think it turned out pretty cool so this is actually our second attempt so we have a few lessons learned from our first one again it came down to our order of operations we had forgotten to cut off the excess material on the top side for our first one so it just kind of looked like it had a nasty edge we also learned to when we put the bottom side on to run a running stitch around the keychain to hold it in place before cutting off the excess material on both sides that just helps with all alignment with the satin stitching to keep it from fraying off and we really like the outcome of it the reason we use the cotton batting material is because we wanted a keychain that you know had some stiffness to it and if we just use regular material it would not look as nice anyways thanks so much for watching i hope
