rationalized Justified if you will what I was doing by speaking through my work put God first there was some profanity yeah profanity was I've Been a Cowboy fan since I was about six I said yeah like you bring some Jewish people into a room and you and you they think it's a shower but it's gas and they said right I said right that ain't funny so to it wasn't funny in Hollywood only a few actors can claim to have accomplished even half of what the legendary Denzel Washington has attained starting from a modest start as a television actor initially in the background he has emerged Like a Phoenix to establish himself as a pioneering figure in a realm where aspirations frequently wne he stands as a remarkable figure being just the second African-American actor to grasp the prestigious Oscar for best actor it is in that same spirit that when he speaks on things going on in Hollywood everyone listens and trusts me it looks like he just dropped a major bombshell this time it appears the renowned actor has come out to expose the rot and Holly weird and this time it seems to be about a particular practice that any sane person would find repulsive the drawbacks of this industry start from the black youngsters who are actually the carrier of their families it is seen that since the existence of this industry children were never protected the most notable example was seen by Georgia Tan a notorious baby broker known for orchestrating the illegal adoption of young people who were often taken from their biological parents an adoption Scandal that shocked the nation a villain hiding in plain sight and over 5,000 children whose lives would never be the same Georgia tan once had a good reputation working at the Tennessee Children's Home Society to expedite the adoptions of numerous babies who had been given up by their parents yet it came to light years later that she actually managed the sale of essentially Black Market black youngsters and estimated 5,000 children were black market sold through Georgia Tan's adoption ring sadder still many of the adoptive families had no idea what they were supporting no one knows or perhaps cares to remember the exact day the Tennessee Children's Home Society in Memphis closed what is known is that 69 years ago in late November or early December the place workers later called a house of horrors closed its doors for good while the closure itself may have pushed the home Into Obscurity the profound impact it had on the lives of over 5,000 children lingers in memory what makes this story particularly haunting is not just the fact that many of the children experienced orphanhood or a but that they were actually stolen the truth is the majority of these children were kidnapped taken or confiscated under false means Georgia Tan would Target poor families poor families who could not fight back for over two decades Georgia Tan operated the Tennessee Children's Home Society using an intricate network of collaborators to engage in a horrifying Enterprise of kidnapping and mistreatment their Sinister objective was to abduct black children and then sell them to affluent adoptive parents for a substantial profit one of Tan's preferred tactics was to cruise through impoverished neighborhoods singling out the most attractive children and enticing them into her sleek black luxury car once these children were in her custody they were often never reunited with their families their children would be taken away under the guise of something good and never be given back tan capitalized on the lack of adoption regulations at the time exploiting the desperation of prospective parents to ensure their silence investigations conducted after the closure of the home revealed that many children perished while under Tan's supposed care those who did survive their time at the Tennessee Children's Home Society still bear the emotional scars of Tan's unchecked cruelty and unbridled greed Sally Brandon is one of the few Children's Home Society adoptees who still remember tan she was a rounded lady who wore glass glasses and carried a little purse Brandon told Insider I remember her being a Stern severe woman Brandon and her two brothers were separated and sold by tan with their blonde hair and blue eyes the trio was perfect prey for Tan she pocketed close to $2,700 in the deal nearly $40,000 in today's money she regularly took babies from patients at Mental Hospitals stole children from the street and even paid doctors and nurses to give her newborns and tell the parents they had died tan would then change their name so that they were hard for biological parents to track down this was no small operation between 1924 and 1950 tan stole over 5,000 children 500 of whom died while in her care tan even took out newspaper ads featuring beautiful children with captions such as want a real live Christmas present as if they were merely play things Georgia Tan would be given a tip that these children were left alone she would then drive to these houses in her black luxury Packer car offer the children a ride and lure them out of their homes throughout her operation Georgia Tan managed to keep the origins of the children she provided a closely guarded secret despite occasional Whispers of Suspicion some of her most prominent clients were wealthy particularly well-known actors and actresses who could easily afford the substantial fees required to obtain a child which amounted to $5,000 at the time furthermore they could bypass the waiting periods associated with legitimate adoption agencies and avoid taking time away from work due to pregnancy gean acquired babies to sell was by taking advantage of desperate mothers who were not pregnant in a socially acceptable way among the notable figures who used the Tennessee Children's Home Society services were celebrities like Mary pford Smiley Bernett Lana Turner pearl S buck and former New York Governor Herbert lhan June Allison and her husband also adopted their daughter Pamela through the agency interestingly historical photos from that era sometimes misrepresent Pamela as the biological child of June Allison's husband Dick Powell from his first marriage rather than correctly identifying her as an adopted child celebrities like Joan Crawford pearl S buck and even the New York Governor adopted tan children these celebrities and hundreds of average families all believed that they were giving these children a home that however some victims were sold as underage Farm hands or domestic skes now there are beliefs that Behind These breeding farms were mostly black actors as they usually worked as slaves of the industry's elites this can be seen in the modern days too that many black comedians have chosen to wear dresses in pursuit of laughter the juxtaposition of a towering presence in heels creates an inherently ludicrous and consequently humorous visual yet the implications run deeper this trend has seen numerous black male comedians embracing cross-dressing for comedic effect what is the price of this comedy rooted in crossdressing as Dave Chappelle said like when I see that they put every black man in the movies in a dress at some point in their career I'd be connecting D like why all these brothers got wear dress during a recent appearance on Oprah's Show comedian Dave Chappelle raised a thought-provoking query he pondered the prevalence of accomplished blackmail entertainers resorting to crossdressing during some phase of their careers notably Martin Lawrence achieved recognition for his lead role in the Big Mama's House series similarly Eddie Murphy included a female character among the array of roles he undertook in his Nutty Professor film series this happened to me I'm doing a movie with Martin yeah the movie's going good so I walk in a trailer I'm like man this must be the wrong trailer cuz there's a dress in here Jamie Fox left his Mark with the unforgettable ugly Wanda Persona on In Living Color whereas Marlin and Shawn wans embraced gender reversal for their roles in White Chicks additionally the ill-fated Joanna Man movie from a few years back remains a chapter we may wish to put behind us I'm here ooh that girl getting R really you sh me right amongst these instances one figure stands out as the most prominent crossdresser of our time Tyler Perry known not only for his entertainment Ventures but also for his right-wing Evangelical influence Perry's media franchise has achieved considerable success and recognition the hell is Black Friday every Friday is Friday I'm black that's a Black Friday what you talking about while Tyler Perry has carved a prosperous path within the gospel play realm he's effectively extended his Triumph to the film industry bringing his contemporary portrayal to a larger cinematic canvas no it's it's a it's a stage play it's it's like Broadway just with black people now watching all these highness activities going on Denzel also came forward to expose what is actually happening in the industry nevertheless a perplexing question continues to linger in the minds of many why does it appear that both the entertainment industry and the system may not be as supportive of Denzel as one might anticipate some observations suggest that they may even fear Him Denzel Washington's remarkable Journey from a small town near New York City to the Pinnacle of Hollywood is nothing short of extraordinary born on December 28 1954 he initially pursued a career in journalism enrolling at forom University in 1977 however fate had different plans for this gifted individual and it wasn't long before he discovered his true passion lay in the world of acting with unwavering determination he relocated to San Francisco and honed his skills at the American Conservatory theater during an interview he said the first thing I want to do is more theater the second thing I want to do is direct movies acting in movies is now no three on the list I find a lot of the movies are formulaic I know a lot of people love them and believe me I'm glad they do but I just think they've become formulaic in the blink of an eye Washington transition from an aspiring actor to a television sensation thanks to his powerful presence and remarkable versatility his iconic role as Dr Philip Chandler in the medical series St Elsewhere held the hearts of viewers captive for a remarkable six years in a riveting 2012 times talk interview Washington revealed an awe inspiring decision to decline a lucrative film role this bold move was a result of sage advice from none other than Hollywood Legend Sydney porier porier AED Washington that accepting the role could drastically alter his actor brand Washington firmly expressed to the interviewer that the film's content and premise would do nothing but perpetuate racism under the guise of Comedy he said I got a part in a movie in 1986 I call it the N they couldn't K the character he are a white woman they tried to electrocute him but it didn't work and he became a cult hero then they tried to hang him there were some Jewish people in the audition room who said it is funny and I said to them yeah it's like you bring some Jewish people into a room and they think it is a shower but it is gas and they said right and I said right that ain't funny so to me it was not funny to put a rope around my MF neck and I made a point I called Sydney porier and told him man they are offering me $600,000 to play the end they couldn't K and he told me I'm not going to tell you what to do but I will tell you this the first two three or four films you do in this business will dictate how you are perceived as a consequence of this Wise Choice he turned down the role and patiently bited his time for approximately 6 months one character got removed from his career it could have gone an entirely you know you never know it could have gone my whole career could have gone an entirely different way different way okay again there was one 9s Thriller that achieved even more significant success David Fincher's s7n released in 1995 starring Brad Pit and Morgan Freeman in leading rol interestingly Washington was originally approached to play the role that eventually went to pit that of detective David Mills the film's plot revolves around Mills and his partner detective William Somerset as they pursue a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as the basis for his crimes as a consequence of this Wise Choice he turned down the role and patiently bited his time for approximately 6 months eventually the remarkable opportunity presented itself for him to assume a leading role in Cry Freedom the 1987 biographical film revolving around the life of South African activist Steven Boo this pivotal film left an enduring imprint on his career not only earning him his first Oscar nomination but also completely altering the course of his professional life and seven the movie Seven the part that Brad Pit played they they asked me first and I just thought n this is so dark and and I saw the movie say 7n turned out to be a massive success grossing over 327 million worldwide making it the seventh highest grossing film of 1995 David Fincher has since become a highly regarded director known for films like Fight Club The Social Network and Gone Girl however when Washington was initially offered the lead role in c7n Fincher's career was at a different stage and he was still dealing with the disappointment of his previous project Alien 3 Washington unaware of Fincher's future success made the mistake of turning down the film believing that it wouldn't Garner much attention he recalled saying I just didn't think anybody was going to see it I don't know what I made instead I can't remember but I turned seet and down I guess Brad Pit is happy about that although Denzel Washington starred in three films in 1995 Crimson Tide virtuosity and devil in a Blue Dress none of them achieved the level of success that c7n did upon watching finer film Washington experienced a moment of regret and acknowledged that he had missed out on something special in in 1999 Washington earned a Golden Globe for his role in the hurricane the gripping true story of wrongly convicted boxer Ruben Hurricane Carter and his two decade long incarceration controversy over the film's historical accuracy may have denied him the coveted Oscar win but it only fueled his dedication to powerful storytelling in Remember the Titans he played Herman Boon the coach who unified a racially divided high school football team this was yet another chapter in a career defined by remarkable True Stories the pivotal moment arrived when Washington portrayed a rogue LAPD cop in Training Day he was awarded the Oscar for best actor making him only the second African-American actor after Sydney puer to receive this prestigious honor I'll always be chasing you Sydney I'll always be following in your footsteps God bless you but it seems like he never was happy for Oscars Denzel Washington didn't hold back when it came to addressing the perceived lack of fairness in the Oscars he openly acknowledged his own firsthand experiences of this unfairness within the entertainment industry despite these challenges he offered a powerful piece of advice urging individuals to just do the best you can do when asked about the criticism surrounding the Oscar's lack of diversity Washington shared his perspective saying I've lived it I've been the guy at the Oscars without my name being called when my name is called when everybody thought they were going to call my name and they didn't for those who believe the Academy's process is unfair his response was Resolute stating yeah and so what you going to give up if you're looking for an excuse you'll find one as for whether RAC is being used as an excuse Washington maintained you can find it wherever you like can't live like that just do the best you can do in the past 2 years the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences faced heavy criticism for nominating only white actors in The acting categories however there was optimism for change this year with several actors of color in notable films including fences receiving well-deserved attention and potentially being recognized for their outstanding performances notably Jimmy Kimmel highlighted that Morgan Freeman and Washington have made significant contributions to the Oscars anyways showing his recklessness Washington's prow extended behind the camera as he made his directorial debut with the autobiographical drama ant W Fischer in 2002 here he played the role of a naval psychiatrist Dr Jerome Davenport alongside the volatile young sailor Antwon Fischer who's next so um Dr Davenport sent up to the gym while Washington often gravitated toward truth inspired stories and racially sensitive topics he showcased his versatility in several action-packed Thrillers including out of time Deja Vu Inside Man and remakes like The Manchurian Candidate and The Taking of pelum 12 23 in 2010 Washington took a daring leap into the action genre starring in the R-rated post-apocalyptic epic The Book of Eli marking a significant departure from his traditional roles Denzel Washington's career has been an extraordinary Journey marked by his ability to transform into a diverse array of characters from historical figures to complex individuals he has cemented his status as one of Hollywood's most respected and versatile actors all while boldly tackling issues of race Injustice and human complexity on the big screen he said the less the more and I never forgot that less is more for for an actor that doesn't mean you're not doing anything but I just took that approach Denzel Washington's courage in addressing racism is truly commendable as he has undertaken actions that few would dare to embrace unfortunately he has not been immune to encountering racism even within the entertainment industry and the world of Cinema one particular particularly disheartening incident surfaced when he found himself at the center of the Sony Pictures hack shockingly Executives within the company discussed that he should not be considered for lead roles in international films solely because of his race this discriminatory sentiment was conveyed in emails that followed the release of his movie The Equalizer an unnamed producer expressed this troubling Viewpoint to Sony chairman Michael Linton prompting a discussion about the inappropriateness and offensiveness of such a comment I am not saying The Equalizer should not have been made or that African-American actors should not have been used I personally think Denzel Washington is the best actor of his generation wrote the producer casting him is saying we're okay with a double baseball term if the picture Works he's reliable at the domestic box office safe but has not had a huge success in years I believe whenever possible the non-event pictures extra bets should have a large inherent upside and be made for the right price here there isn't a large inherent upside despite a massing a significant Global box office gross of $191 million with nearly half of all ticket sales coming from International markets the leaked emails shockingly asserted that the overseas earnings were inadequate alluding to Denzel Washington's race as the reason this distressing Revelation serves as a stark reminder of the enduring presence of racial biases and prejudices even in the wake of undeniable success I believe that the international Motion Picture audience is racist in general pictures with an African American lead don't play well overseas the producer continued Denzel Washington's own account further underscores the mistreatment he endured during a conversation at Tiff he disclosed an unsettling incident from about three decades ago in Boston he and his wife Peta were in town for one of her plays and while at their hotel they were mistakenly assumed to be a pimp and prostitute by a group of people this misunderstanding led to a physical altercation prompting the involvement of security additionally Washington shared that while walking to one of his wife shows on another occasion he was subjected to a racial slur being called the n-word you know race relationships have to do with race relationships you're white or whatever you are I'm black or whatever I am we're standing here talking now he further recounted a painful memory from his childhood recalling an incident in Florida when he was called the nword he shared how his mother had to explain the hurtful term to him marking an early encounter with racial Prejudice that left a lasting impact on his understanding of the world in his speeches Denzel Washington consistently issues a cautionary message to Future Generations emphasizing that they will continue to confront racism because youth are still being taught to Harbor racial biases while he holds on to the dream of a world free from racism he holds the belief that a new generation of individuals with racist beliefs is being raised highlighting the enduring challenge of addressing and overcoming prejudice and discrimination you can't legislate love the president the United States can't legislate us into liking each other Morgan Freeman in a rare interview candidly expressed his feelings of Envy regarding Denzel Washington's career reflecting on both of their Journeys Freeman admitted I'm so very envious of Denzel's career because he's doing what I wanted to do he went on to share that he had a recent conversation with Washington who conveyed his sense of being in the Autumn of life yet remaining fiercely ambitious actively reaching out to esteemed directors like Paul Thomas Anderson and Steve McQueen in his pursuit of compelling projects this Insight sheds light on the enduring passion and drive that continue to propel Denzel Washington's remarkable career forward Denzel and I were in a Joseph P production of Cory elanus I was the lead Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman two highly respected figures in Hollywood and close friends have demonstrated unwavering support for one another in various situations in a touching display of solidarity Denzel Washington openly expressed his pride in his black identity while emphasizing that his Essence should not be limited to his race alone Morgan Freeman wholeheartedly echoed this sentiment firmly believing that he too should not be defined solely by his racial identity according to Washington but not you know I was you know we all were very serious actors and there weren't a lot of serious black actors for us to to to emulate to follow to admire both actors share a profound conviction that their contributions to the world of entertainment and their influence on society transcend racial boundaries they highlight their talents and achievements as multifaceted individuals refusing to be constrained by narrow labels their unified message underscores the power of talent resilience and the shared aspiration to be acknowledged for their Artistry and character beyond the color of their skin what I actually said to Denzel was you're that brilliant Young actor just out of forom University but have you ever seen any Hollywood Elite or even the system ever promoting Denzel's teachings and lessons that he learned while he was in the industry this is up to you to decide however it seems like what Denzel was trying to convey is becoming true much evidence shows that this industry is totally biased and authoritarian to understand this let's take the example of Dave Chappelle Dave Chappelle possesses firsthand experience of both the positive and negative aspects of Hollywood W and he Harbors a trove of tales that unveil the unvarnished reality behind the scenes it's clear that the Allure of Hollywood's Glitz and Glamour belies the less enchanting truths lurking beneath the surface for Dave it's always been apparent that no amount of wealth could truly compensate for the challenges imposed by the industry's powerful figures it was so much money how could you do that and blah blah blah but you know if I taken that money and finish the show I would have got the money but I might never have been the same apparently Hollywood is known for its racist and discriminatory practices black actors have to fight twice as hard for the opportunities that other people easily get in the industry of course it won't be easy to eliminate years and years of systemic oppression with just a few castings especially since the higher Powers still want to control everything according to Chappelle and Tolen the executives at Fox suggested changing the lead female character from black to white rather than embracing greater inclusivity for minorities and black individuals the executives at Fox took a different approach focusing on increasing inclusion for white individuals even within a show led by a black man Dave Chappelle asserts that he was the driving force behind every aspect of his own Chappelle show it was completely outside of my frame of reference I've been in show business since I was 14 and uh I've heard the stories M of what happens nonetheless he received a directive to alter the show's lead cast to feature a white woman Dave Chappelle had a strong desire for black representation in his show given his substantial contributions to its success he found it disheartening to be excluded from such critical decisions this decision to change the cast left Dave deeply disillusioned at the time numerous shows featured all white casts without raising any concerns however when a black man created a show aimed at representing his community by casting black individuals the executive suddenly raised objections Dave openly discussed this issue in an interview he said they fly me out for a creative meeting I'm in a room full of white people and they proceed to tell me why we need more white people on the show so it can have a more Universal appeal in a landscape with numerous shows targeting white audiences Dave was pressured to reshape his show to accommodate the perspectives of white viewers this network built itself on black viewers and what they're saying is white people are narcissistic they don't want to watch black people they want to watch themselves it tells every black artist no matter what you do you need whites to succeed I felt like I was beaten up and completely degraded it's disgusting and it made me want to vomit the executive producer of the show Peter Tolen was in full agreement with Dave's perspective the racial biases within Fox Entertainment had deeply disappointed both Tolen and Dave Tolen openly addressed the issue stating we were trying to do a realistic depiction of Dave's life not a black show but a smart funny show that happened to be black but fox said there needs to be more white faces basically Dave Chappelle cannot appear on Fox TV unless Whitey gets him in the door it's embarrassing and I realized I couldn't do it I felt morally it was wrong with the producer sharing Dave's disapproval the question arises who was Behind These proposed changes this incident served as a significant eyeopener for Dave revealing the power dynamics within the industry despite these allegations the higher-ups at Fox Entertainment vly denied any intention of racism insisting that their suggestions were innocent in nature the Fox network respects the unique perspective and integrity of each member of its audience and to suggest anything less is disturbing and upsetting in light of our past present and future efforts Dave was so disturbed by this incident that he did a special focusing on the issue of racism uh traveling has made me a a racism connoisseur if you will you know it's different from region to region as a talented comedian Dave used humor and a light-hearted approach to tackle this issue but the mere fact that he brought it up in the first place underscores his authentic frustration and anger racism continues to be deeply ingrained in Hollywood and Executives and Industry leaders have frequently contributed to sustaining this imbalance Dave's anger stemmed from the recognition that despite years of dedication and persistence his initial significant opportunity was tainted by the intervention of Hollywood Elites solely because of his skin color I can't believe someone did that to me people are just as angry as Dave as some of them have taken to social media to highlight just how much Hollywood is responsible for racism in the industry one Twitter user wrote why do you think our people have just started to formally break into Hollywood like on mass in 2019 maybe it's because it's racism this is racism natives have and continue to be held back actively in Hollywood from telling our stories cuz one crack the damn break to many people it started to make sense what Denzel went through during his early time in this industry one person wrote I love Denzel he knows he's black he's proud of it and he's a terrific actor but the difference with him is that he seems to rise above a lot of the BS that Hollywood portrays to the world he's a realist and seems like a damn decent man he's obviously an intellect and well read but talks cleverly and not hysterically that's why people listen the other guy who is 59 wow he's he's got some decent genes in his family Denzel Washington has always emphasized that a thorough understanding of cultural issues through education is Paramount he issues a stark warning that if the younger Generations aren't properly educated about the sensitive topic of racism it could spell imminent trouble for the future of the entertainment industry but it seems like this thing smells unpleasant for the elites of this industry and they never acknowledged his learnings and teachings well starts in a home you know if the father is not in the home the boy will find the father in the streets yeah I saw it in my generation and every generation Denzel Washington's incredible path to becoming the internationally acclaimed actor we recognize today is undeniably grounded in his difficult upbringing this turbulent early life profoundly shaped his approach to every facet of his career his exceptional maturity visible not just in his acting but also in his character along with a deep sense of Faith distinguishes him as a distinctive figure in the frequently uncertain realm of Hollywood however the lingering question remains could there be a fear that Denzel might emerge as a dominant force in the industry Only Time Will Reveal the answer anyway that's all for today
