all right here we go my next guest is a good friend of ours and the subject of a new documentary entitled mr. warmth the Don Rickles project it can be currently seen on HBO and beginning February 19th on DVD right here here is mr. warmth himself Don Rickles [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] believe great great now I'll talk to the dummy good Happy New Year good to see you oh good to see you Dave happy new you thank you very much Carolyn like you got up and New Year's Eve and said I wonder how Rickles is sure I'm always thinking about you a little joy you are and I'm Adolf Hitler now wait a minute know why I say it'll fit yeah Don I don't have to laugh just look at me in the eye I heard that you I see city you just have to clean up [Applause] tatta me award everything else have you sitting there with a little joke now you're not gonna go anyplace and by the way I was never in one of your movies now speakers would have played you know the guy picking the cotton weed fake it now listen I speaking of not being in somebody's why are you pointing I'm here I see the District Attorney now there's this wonderful documentary about your life on HBO correct all your friends I'm not in it because you hide out no no no no you're in the Midwest sitting there with your child and your girl and nobody knows what how you're doing it that's it I sit there with what a cowboy hat I'm not gonna be on with that you know anyway I was interesting about Denzel the doctor that was great big star 20 minutes with Denzel the doc I found it fascinating yeah well surely that's why you got this show yeah but anyway I enjoyed the documentary and it might have been a great experience for you it was extremley and us like it was a shame you weren't in it I know I know that's not right de flippin friends a long time exactly and you're not that big that you can't be in it I know well I wanted to be I tried to be don't beg now don't beg the guy the guy comes into town he says okay I'll be here two days and I said well I'm not even in town and he said okay goodbye well I do you think that made me feel I hope bad Denzel wine no Denzel was busy doing movies he does everything direct problem przemek direct role and credit now you've had a sense play football go 27 blue 27 blue but you've had quite a film career yourself oh I'm bigger than him yeah you uh you worked with Clark Gable never Clark Gable yes sir oh boy Burt Lancaster yeah first movie I ever did came on the on those days of you it was United and it was submarine picture they did go on location yeah I talked to him because I can go someplace with him fair enough he's sweet enough to sit here when I'm on I gotta talk alright cuz you it's once a year and goodbye no I'll be back tomorrow yes man you know one phone call and then we are so and dharmic I don't see that like Frank that's wrong yeah it's Rickles and Denzel yeah that's right that happened at Radio City Music Hall oh it was Don Rickles and Frank Sinatra you know we worked together you remember Frank centime yes sir he was his son I say a lot of funny things about cuz he's dead yeah now so anyway the kids get worse oh no no listen well I forgot what I was going to say [Applause] terrible the glasses are fogging up like any time it's you're working with Clark he keep doing this solet from you he's got a little box expression do that in a movie yeah we'll be right back with Don Rickles [Applause] I remember a story speaking of Frank Sinatra you're all in the the refresh Riviera the French what do they call it thread for a beer yeah right that's right and you're at Monaco someplace like Monaco and you're having a big dinner you rank Frank's buddy Jilly yeah a lot of folks really happened is Frank Sinatra got answer so it was a great man to me it's a great great booster of mine and I traveled with him to Europe we we wound up in as you said the Riviera I one of the trips my wife and his wife and so forth and he'd send all over the wall he said well the wives got a bed you gotta go to bed and you got to sit with him and drink the you know which I didn't mind but on the third barrel I used to sit there and think I was on the Titanic start dropping down the pants yeah good so anyway we're sitting here and in this bar and it's about 5:00 6:00 in the morning I'm Franklin to the king to anybody you know boom the summer where there's a little black gentleman you know a little black gentleman he's playing the piano they're going laughter can I go home can I go home the party is when mr. Egan you talk to him then we go home you know do accents in case so we're sitting there David and we're having a drink and Gillian I mrs. so we're sitting and lightning comes and it's a big bay window by the bar and Frank's drink I said I want you and Julie to go out they tell them damn photographers to stop taking my jibing went out jimena I went out in tuxedos like morons in the rain thank God the storm stopped it came back it's over Frank it's not it's not good because otherwise we'd be walking around in a wheelchair he was great he did a lot of crazy his wife and your wife and your wife [Laughter] [Applause] man makes 40 billion dollars a year he sits there with two major people don't Denzel was talking about his did a movie about a guy who was organized criminal yeah yeah now did did you a long time ago in Las Vegas did you did you have any relationships or acquaintances yes I experienced I worked at I headlined the Copacabana many many years ago and everybody came in and sat ringside none at what time does he go on and they all had the little sling guns they're going oh the kid better be funny anyway so it was there was one guy I won't mention his name it was important very well known gangster and my mother pretty a topless issue if she was alive she would have been great with your mom because my mother was my mother was sort of a Jew Patton you know my mother was the third person good evening how are you conscious what's the matter with you but you had a megaphone yeah so now she was very strong very educated and we were sitting at the bar and a note comes in says so-and-so wants to see it so my manager at the time Josie and Dori it was le Wiseman's my manager now III throw it in so he don't have a nervous breakdown in Florida we all start like this he felt like this I want to put a feather on the can and make him a bird for penny
