what's up [Music] oh it's a big ass [Music] good morning guys back out here on the california delta uh i'm actually in little frank's track right now i started out in frank's track just started throwing like spooks and frogs and a chatterbait i caught a couple small ones on a chatterbait and had one decent one on the spook uh actually was a lunker pumper but kind of same concept and it came off unfortunately at the boat but uh it's probably about maybe three pounds not not really that big but it's kind of all the action i've had so far this morning definitely just looking around i'm in little frank's uh trying it at a little bit of a different tide than i was when i was here the other day when i had a couple big blowups on frogs so i'm gonna try to go back to those uh those little those grass mats it was like witch's beard or uh pondweed type stuff so i'm gonna go back to those and see what's going on see if i get a few blow-ups out of them if not i mean i might stay here all day and just kind of figure it out or i might just go run the tide uh it kind of really just depends right now i might just kind of see how it goes really i mean i got nothing but time and my guide trips later today in the evening so if i can locate some fish cool otherwise i got some fish located probably that i can uh put my client on uh hoping to try to locate some bigger ones uh so stay tuned guys uh let's see if i can get a few bigger fish located in the boat today so we'll see ya all right so oh oh a small bad fish well i found a seven over there maybe a five with them so i'm punching down this line this is really what you want to look for if you're punching the hyacinth and like pennywort mats you really want to find those areas that have a lot of current running right next to them and that's where you're going to get majority of your punching and flipping bites so or just like a little eddy right next to current that's where you'll find some fish too so we'll put this on the live we'll see if i can get a couple more today [Music] today [Music] oh it's a big-ass pikeminnow oh yeah big old pikeminnow shattermate action [Music] so [Music] uh [Music] so he's dead [Music] just he's in there you guys want to see something cool salad bass not big one but jeez that's what i didn't want to do was flop look at that that's what i get for all that that mess on my boat so let's talk about what's going on here so in the back of this pocket there's a lot and i mean a lot of golden shiners and bluegill whenever you're around like a crap ton of golden shiners you're usually in the right area especially if the golden shiners are freaking out and getting chased i actually saw one jump out of the water in the huge wake coming after it and i've seen it i already saw i saw one that was about five pounder just cruising looking for bluegill or whatever so this is definitely got a big fish somewhere i've gotten freaking what 10 bites back here and i'm just flipping around you know and i missed a few because i suck but i definitely got the bites so i'm definitely gonna take my client here first and uh yeah there's definitely gonna be a big one caught back here i mean i'm maybe not caught but there's there is yeah there's a seven plus class fish back here just based on all the stuff that's going on back here there has to be i mean if there's five pound class fish back here there's gotta be a big big one plus we have a bunch of hyacinth that's washed in or blown in and uh a lot of the submerged vegetation that i keep getting bit into so all those are a recipe for success so i'm gonna try to get a few more before i get out of here and go pick up my client to uh you know hopefully put them on some fish so sweet [Music] what's up everyone um it's actually a few days yeah more than a few days almost a week since i was out on the delta for part two of a two-part series because my next video video is actually going to be on clear lake which i've already done and fish that but i'll talk about that later anyways uh talk about kind of what went down on the delta so the day before i was doing a lot of just looking around at things and i ended up getting my best bites of the day frogging and so day two i kind of wanted to focus more on you know the grass the summertime bite still so like punching and frogging uh as well as just you know focusing on areas with current which is kind of a must when you're punching so that's kind of what i did i ran around and focused on current areas uh to start out i definitely got a couple decent bites punching and i actually found an area where there was like a seven and a five just sitting on a thule point and i freaking spooked them unfortunately i couldn't give them a bite i saw him a couple more times as i was uh cruising through that area and i kept spooking them like they already knew i was there there's probably no way i was going to give him a bite so i kept like you know leaving him alone for like 5-10 minutes then coming back and yeah trying to get them but it just it wasn't working they're they're behaving really weird it was almost like they were moving into spawn super weird they were just staying around that area and just hanging out like usually when you spook a big one you won't ever see him again but i saw those i saw both those fish two or three more times just kind of moving around in there so definitely kind of a weird situation um later on later on in the day as the tide was uh was dropping out and i actually i think it already had dropped out yeah i was starting to rise again and i found an area a little pocket that was just completely full of golden shiners and i don't know i said it in the video uh when you can find golden shiners like that with bass around chasing them you got a solid potential for a really big bite a big bass on the delta like golden shiners uh any of the swim bait dudes that you know maybe watching these videos i make or that fish adult all the time will tell you uh golden shiners and bluegill big big bass like those so definitely was in an area with some big bass around i saw one that was about five uh i spooked it out of a mat i i mean what what can i do i punched as much as i could and i gotta run the trolling motor here and there to move so i probably could have maybe slowed down and worked the area a little bit more thorough to try and get those fish to bite but i was kind of on a time constraint because i was supposed to pick up my clients in like less than an hour so i had like 45 minutes to really try to fish this area and see if there's a good fish around which definitely was i missed one on a frog that was a pretty decent fish too but uh it's part of it i missed a lot of fish on that day and i don't know i need to work on efficiency uh definitely not the most efficient bass fisherman out there or i guess what am i trying to say the ratio of getting bites to fish in the boat is not good for me i get a lot of bites every time i go fishing and i it seems like i miss a lot of fish so i definitely need to work on that figure out my problems with that but that's my own personal stuff anyways let's get into what i was throwing and the setups i was using so it's more of like kind of like a summertime thing uh let's see here so first one is punch setup got a actually this is not any kind of branded tungsten i get it from a japanese or chinese website that i can get them for like super discounted prices so don't attack me for that that i don't buy american made but you know when you can get a tungsten weight or when you can get five or six of these punching tungsten weights for you know five or six bucks rather than paying sixty dollars i'm gonna do what i can so that's a just a generic tungsten weight still 97 tungsten which is really what you're looking to get and then two bobber stops which i also i get off amazon i can get like 100 of them uh 100 bobber stop packs for like two bucks and then this is a i think an owner flipping hook and then you got a missile baits d-bomb in the california love color i believe so kind of a standard thing on the delta everybody throws that color it was just the first one i grabbed and they were willing to bite it so i don't recommend throwing this color on the delta all the time i think you should switch it up because you can get more bites throughout the day but as a starting to punch or just an area or just learning how to punch it's a good color to start with you'll get bites on it you just need to understand that everybody's going to throw this color out there and this bait so the fish see it a lot and if you switch up the bait to something they don't see every day you may get some more bites and bigger bites but anyways this is on a daiwa tattoo flip and punch or elite flipping punch or whatever oh pitch and flip sorry and this is a phenomenal reel if you guys don't have one for any kind of uh your punching slash flipping applications it's definitely an awesome reel it's got a an oversized reel handle and then an eight to one gear ratio which is exactly what you're looking for when you're doing this type of fishing and then this is on a fish drilled rod what big yeah big jig matte flipping rod 7 8 heavy definitely a great punch rod uh made in florida fish shell rods they know how to punch and flip down there so you'd think they uh they may have the rod game down on on that type of fishing so i've actually had this rod for five years and never broke an eyelid on it and it's still stout is all you know i'll get out man and i can catch the crap out of him on this thing so love this rod um the thing that's been producing the numbers for me out there is uh this drop shot rod this is a mega bassaroche whip snake it's like a 611 maybe seven foot and it's on 20 pound uh braid with a 15 pound uh what do you call it p-line tactical leader and then i got a little extra one up one eye extra wide gap hook with a mm3 robo worm and like a i think it was a six inch or the four inch one of the other but definitely a good little setup especially if you're fishing around those blow throughs uh with a lot of current as long as the tide's moving around those areas you throw a drop shot and you're going to catch fish like all day so that's pretty cool oh didn't talk about the line i actually downsized my line uh to 65 just because i was having a lot of issues where the line was wrapping around my rod tip and stuff because i normally punch with 80 and then i even upped it to 100 because i broke off one uh earlier this year that was a straight up giant and i retie all the time i don't know i don't know if i just set the hook really hard it was weird so i just upped it to 100 for a little bit and then i got really bad problems with my line wrap around my tip so i downsized all the way to 65 and i just make sure to um what do you call it reti a lot and try not to be so hard on my equipment i guess but yeah 65 pound p-line uh braid the other one i got bit on was the frog snag proof popping fatty right here this thing's super clapped i honestly need snag proof to hit me up so i can get some more because i can't find these things anywhere this color they're all sold out so um i need to like call snag proof or something and figure out how to get some more of this color and just popping fatties in general i'll pay whatever it takes but um yeah definitely a good color around those golden shiners i like to have a little bit of a gold or yellow in the the skirt material and then this orange dot really helped i think with getting that one that one good frog bite i freaking missed it because i suck but um god dude it was that was a good fish it just kind of like swirled on it um but it's part of it so i know i know they're there but that was it also i know you guys are heard of my frog rod um good shell rod 73 heavy stunner hd that's uh that's the frog rod and that's the thing i have four of them i love them things so those are the three things i threw the most i did throw a chatter bait a little bit in the video um i actually don't know where that rod is right now and i'm in the process of like just destroying my boat and putting a bunch of new electronics and stuff on soon so but that's on oh god it was in my other video so go check out my other video the link will be in the bio as well of this video of of it but as well it has a 15 pound 40 and i was throwing a green pumpkin strike king thunder cricket and that got me not bass it got me a pike minnow and a striper so that was cool but yeah guys uh that basically sums it up fishing on the delta is only gonna be getting better right now they're gonna be definitely eating spooks and uh chatter baits any kind of moving baits a square bill a crawl covered square bill on the rock walls you're going to get bit doing that all day and the bite's only going to get better as these temperatures continue to drop the striper moving in and actually not throwing in the video because it was with one of my clients i caught a 12-pound striper and then uh another day with some clients i caught two more uh striper in that five pound class so dude the striper are going right now if you guys want to get on some some pretty fun uh striper fishing hit me up because i know an area where they're running pretty thick and uh you know we could throw some glide baits and some big spooks and probably get some some really big ones so that's it guys stay tuned for the next one i'm going to be making a clear lake video next and that was a super fun bite it was a kind of crazy fighting off the flw guys for my areas i'm trying to fish but you know what that's part of it so stay tuned for that video guys uh i'll check you later [Music] you
