There She Goes these are filming now [Music] you gotta hooked into the radio too yeah always over and everything very cool I'll tell you about it's been a uh it's made as much difference of anything out of any kind of training but it really makes a difference guys can take the mess home with them and look at it uh you can go in it and kind of clip it you know clip out the training sessions and that's really neat it would make sense I mean you know they have well you're in the helicopter and you're thinking about flying the thing yeah and you're not really listening I mean you can hear someone what I'm saying but can't really hear all of it and the first one that I've done it with it actually come up with the idea of wood you got it where's the helmet and um it actually come up with it and he took it home and he was like I didn't even realize how much I could not hear I never heard anything you said okay because he's so busy his head's so busy so and I it takes it it makes me explain things easier and more and in depth you know what I'm saying now I'm on camera so yeah I've got to teach it right so it's a big tool yeah definitely big two all right all right we're all warmed up everything we're in the cup too almost situated you know the bottle's good all right and we want to think about uh anytime we take off you know even the way we landed so this way so the wind may have shifted on us first thing won't look at his windsock because yeah he's going to find out where we're going we definitely want to stay in the wind all the time what we can do is go ahead and run up and I will pick up and take off into the wind and as we get moving through the grass we'll call up over traffic four or seven Johnny Dallas departing from the ramp entering left traffic for 1-4 and just basically tell them what you're gonna do then what we're gonna do is enter left traffic for one four we'll go ahead and take right on all through there and jump right up on one floor back around do a loop there all right all right everything's in the green she's ready to roll you have all three controls it's gonna be a little heavier on the back this time because we got some fuel on board yeah it picks up a little more on the left yeah you feel it [Music] uh yeah normal takeoff right on 32 go through the uh yeah right through the grass is good okay there you go oh we're so clean now we're not even creating a Vortex now at this point we're gonna use that max power you want to use all your power you can I can be ready for you but for Ford City traffic I look up the four seven that's all it does departing the ramp uh we'll be uh jumping over on one four for some left close traffic above it three two goes that way one four is going this way and we also see that right here yeah whatever her nose is pointing on us is there is yep he'll use that thing a whole lot on you cross country just situation awareness of knowing where you're at you know I'm from the south I'm from the West anything behind us we're coming we're reporting uh for that airport up here we were reporting three miles we'd report from the South Southwest you can see everything you're doing yeah we're getting our downwind so on into pattern work um our traffic pattern's gonna be 500 foot in the hit above 60 knots 60 plus is what would what we're looking for always okay just in case of an engine failure 60 knots you've got it because that's what we teach from so and we're gonna feed my numbers coming up on one for a beam for carburetor heat gauges are green at the top of the green so traffic oh nice and clean and you could put the power setting in probably 18 is 17. yeah there's little targets you know all right that's going to change with the distance from the runway or from our altitude but if we can get somewhat of consistency going and we kind of just flow through it every time over traffic I look up to four seven Charlie doubles turn the left face the final Runway one four appropriate [Music] and we'll maintain 60 plus yeah you know until we turn on finals we turn on Final we've got to stop so now we're gonna start quick start put on our speed back that's what we do go out to the intersection of 826 and 1432 right there where they cross over all right here the uh all right here but we're at the middle of that Runway there all right we're currently about four miles to the east and then we have now from all three ounces all right let's see what's happening here we're getting there yeah our speed I'm gonna come on here with you all right we'll fix this one second if you find yourself in that position just full power okay and get it less than 300 foot a minute all right then we can walk her in like this and I'll show you another way to do this as well they were 250 that's perfect no problems here if you find yourself that I'm Gonna Get Easier on down um if we find ourselves I like that you can stop that vertical descent just by pulling that collective in just kind of thinking put the helicopter in the hover all right all right and I'm gonna go out and do this again do another little approach here and show you another side of that all right oh that Tailwind is working or come on baby pushed me through find a meeting there it is there it is we'll go right back up and put you in that same scenario and I'll show you another way to get out of that as well now anytime you find you're up on a spot like that and you look like you may be getting ready to settle with power there's a pool Collective and go around you don't even don't even try to make it happen just do a go around all right now we'll we'll simulate the same thing overboard City helicopter four seven Charlotte does maneuvering all the approaching of one four five hundred number all right we're gonna set it up about the same way there's spots getting underneath the same place intersection there it's getting up underneath those and we'll be here to start putting a descent rate going in here this is about what we said look at our air speed coming down bad combination all right watch this here stay with the air speed and lower the collector keep the airspeed there you go okay yeah keep that AirSpeed alive it's just you just got ease her over a little bit yeah or we can just go around one of the two all right you have all three all right good normal takeoff little bits of pieces of lessons about on this camera is it'll blow your mind you'll say and you'll be like oh now I understand it really helps [Music] I'm doing it with all the students now and you would bleed this out here on these cameras wait here's some slow me right down right here and let's try to make that intersection okay uh there you go all right so there you go hold it right here hike give me some Power work work 15 inches this thing will not hover at 15 inches pull some power let's put it in a hover [Music] uh nothing to win probably well not with a vertical descent we've got less than 300 foot a minute yeah you've got two of three things that cause us to settle with power one is more than 30 power which you have if you're flying yeah we've got less than 30 knots before air speed but we don't have more than 300 foot a minute if at this configuration we have more than 300 foot a minute the machine will settle in its own Vortex okay so as long as you keep it less than 300 you have no problems at all all right all right good he's at nose on over and let's get her moving let's get some AirSpeed before we descend see coming up on 300. hold that power don't be as good to use your power you got plenty of it there you go all right now you've got more than that is getting lower the collector let's go to that two right there just lower collector come on down you ain't gonna hurt her keep that nose over forever there you go look at your speed now 40 knots you can't start on the power because one of the three we're missing yeah even though we had more than 300 foot a minute descent rate we had more than 30 lots of forward AirSpeed I think it's a trading game you just trading one piece for the others all you're doing and the end result is the machine is moving forward through that yeah keep that ground moving underneath of you all the time and if we get ourselves on a spot we can't deal with full power keep flying all right let's go ahead go all right normal attack off will be fine whatever how you want to do it we'll jump right back into pattern yeah it feels better to do kind of a Max performance don't it yeah it pulls some power look at that power there all right yeah when you take off any time of this helicopter use the maximum power that you have available okay your goal is to get as high off of the ground to get to 60 knots as quick as you can okay just in case of an engine failure see we don't want to be up here at 40. put a little right belt on here there you go give me some marriage keep yourself clean yeah the machine's a lot more stable and that serves for a lot of different ways a lot of different reasons um the machine flies better at 60 knots if it's at 40 it's doing all this right here and I'm sitting here going why in the world just don't feel good so your chain your chain of events are starting to pile you start to break change links now we want to keep it all together you want to keep a nice focused you know if you're clean the machines look how smooth this thing's playing yeah at 40 knots she's got the wobbles and it makes that hair stand up on your neck and if there was an emergency it's harder to deal with emergency when you are at 40 knots and it is at 69 so okay and that whole mood set you know you set the mood you color the air you create your own flying environment do your business there and roll around on Final let's hold it up here to uh 500 we'll do an auto together back and roll around but from Port City traffic helicopter four seven Charlie Dallas turn a left face to final four Runway one four straight in auto rotation and we're going to enter at 75 all right just relax there's nothing there's no different than a hover same old and with the reason we 175 is because that's generally the air speed that you'll have on a cross-country or something all right all right everything is in the green top of the green 70 75 is good all right I'm on all three with you if I got two one I'm gonna lower a little right now we're just gonna do one thing right here we're just gonna look outside we're not even gonna look at the pound okay I'm not looking inside now see this picture yeah look at your extra ones they never moved it look in the middle of the green 60 plus all right we're gonna come down here and start a little nice gentle flyer just a gentle gentle watch the ground just stop underneath those we just rolled our engine back that's what we're talking about all right who says helicopters ain't safe okay you have all three all right it's a normal takeoff we'll go back around for another hour I'll let you go ahead and enter it this time and all that good stuff the biggest thing on all those when we're really starting to really get into them and learn them overboard City helicopter four seven Charlie that was only go for Runway one four left closed traffic so the biggest problem we run into trying to learn these things and get good at them are we get fixated on the RPM in there oh that's the problem everybody does it and it's just human nature I mean there's nothing one student does no different than the other it's just human nature 60 plus on our climb out there you go um we're looking for 60 plus 60 plus 60 plus any configuration you fly in except for what we have to land and all right the longer you fly the more time you spend at 60 plus knots um the less of the chances are of you having any problems with anything whatsoever that's the helicopter we've got to land at 40 30 sometimes you know but just don't push it until you get a little more comfortable with it all right uh but far as the Autos go that's the big problem everybody wants to come inside because they get all crazy about that RPM and when that horn comes on it really sets everybody off but I'm on all three controls with you yeah that horn just means one thing yeah no people stop we're gonna quit flying uh it just means that what it's doing is saying hey guys so we just control some throttle up and fix it same thing in the uh on a rotation we lower Collective to fix that or we apply half cycling rotation [Music] all right 70 75 on the entry as we lower we've got to put a little less a little after I click a little right pedal you know the drill all right yeah we're gonna hold it on that picture is what we're going to focus on we're not so much going to focus on the outside the inside of this chip nice consistent entry flat everything looks good it's already he's good all right I'm close to you on the controls in three two one you lower all right enter the auto it's starting to naturally happen you don't even know what's happening you're just doing it so you do have to put it back again I'm kind of waiting for that damn jerk while I was waiting for it don't anticipate it don't anticipate it just fly the machine eyes outside flying a machine your muscles is already tuned in you're on it too you've got enough venue we got enough time with you now all right normal takeoff all right we got them muscles all tuned up there's some stuff happening back there you only know what's going on [Music] that's wonderful that's a good job bye very nice easiest first one is good the second one suck oh no they get better and better now when we get to the fifth and sixth that's when things start to get kind of yeah kind of crummy but uh we'll we'll keep we'll hit them we'll hit five or six more and see how they go as long as you're learning we're gonna keep hitting them all right I'm gonna start digressing a little bit we'll jump on something else yep focus on that 60 good max max power is good yeah Runway two six two one got a Back Taxi Runway two one two one foreign Charlie Delta's turning on the left downwind for Runway one forward there he is down here yeah oh yeah working it out you ain't forgot that much stuff man I just got the final so you gotta get your written though man it's like prices better get that written though yeah I'm gonna work on it this week since I'm home and ain't got so much on that mother get me some written test papers oh yeah yeah we'll move forward and after the day next time you come back I want you to solo a little bit Yeah once you fly some by yourself relax a little bit all right um get that confidence back up okay get you get you strong again yeah I think I did my cross country and all that stuff yeah we got to do that what have we done a couple three hours in Solo yeah about three yeah yeah we'll get up to about five or six hours or so then we'll start on your cross country okay there's no need to spend 10 hours at the airport solo and then another four hours cross country solo you know what I mean so we'll keep keep it at a minimum um City traffic I look after four seven charlie delta extended left downwind rolling in on a left face for Runway one four four straight and auto rotation like I thought he doesn't take off but he's going to a taxi up this taxiway here oh okay come in my hands yep 70 75 got ready he's good Gage is in the Green Top the green no traffic other than this guy right here yeah very nice and we're getting there guys [Music] all right eyes outside in three two one go eyes outside little check left oh right there okay RPM Power speed is good outside RPM looks good AirSpeed outside RPM AirSpeed little check here flyer flyer flyer just a little bit of Dexter roll that throttle up the road I thought you have the controls that's what I was talking about but then my eyes are stuck in there that last one we've done you outside yeah you guys got stuck on that RPM gate there you go keep them outside right all right good [Music] one four very nice 30 knots we'll clean our strings up there you go oh we're doing the more comfortable again yeah that's right it's nothing to it it's just really nice oh yeah what what uh digresses oh these Auto rotations more than anything 700 Echo Victor is uh eight miles to the north North Carolina good stuff but then you lose a feel I lose a feel of it sometimes too I wasn't expecting so it's kind of like a reactive proactive approach absolutely yeah you're absolutely right and that's just more time in the seat if you spend more time doing them closer together then we can kind of seal it up and get it done it's got like doing a job if you go like do a job you know get a little bit waste through it and then leave it and don't go back for a long time it's like it piles up on you it's the same stuff doing this flame yeah and roller on Parallel downwind here want to fly some nice smooth parallel lines nice rectangular pattern 500 foot is good 700 Echo Victor is uh hell is he doing uh five miles straight in Runway one four Beaufort yeah this guy here he's buying a TPM I got him inside he's hot so we're gonna go ahead and let's go ahead and turn uh parallel Runway one four okay City traffic I look up to four seven dollars on the left down and um we're gonna do a parallel one four three two on the uh North Side stand clear of only one four three two at all times Roger we got you inside all right three two one go jumping throw that throttle ass outside just stay with her beautiful job okay outside RPM lift a little lift a little liftable hold it right there okay air speed outside RPM air speed outside RPM Parish Beach flare nice and gentle there you go throw that throttle up beautiful job how about that big dog yeah that's pretty good huh yeah that's pretty good flares and all that stuff at the bottom but I want you to be able to get the thing within 20 foot of the ground yeah that's what I want to do you know I'm not at this point we're not so concerned with the perfect beautiful flare we're just concerned we want to get you safe we're gonna get you where you can step out the helicopter yeah man that's not a problem all right go ahead do it left that'll turn let's look at what we got going on back over here [Music] all right yeah there he is TVM 700 there on the final yeah okay all right so yeah let's over here this Vortex ring State a little bit yeah that's what I'm talking about but you're handling it well it's going to wobble right watch this I'm on all three controls all right this is my best [Music] okay it's okay it's gonna do it yeah and that's that's when I'm talking to you about um you create your own environment all right so basically why would we sit there and do that when we can do this exactly you've created your environment look at the vortex ring on the ground right here around us I say if we were trying to get out of a burning house and this Vortex was a burning house there's the closest door see that yeah glass over there that grass not moving yeah all right let's go over here and look and one of my students is a fireman and he taught me this okay look at all that smoke and fire over there and then there's a door at the end of it we want to run through all that nope we're going to turn around over here and we're gonna find the closest door to the cleanest air and there's the closest door watch this right here there's your there's your Vortex yeah look at this thing clam 22 inches look at it it's ready why would we want to go back to a little burning house no I don't want to go through that house so you create your own environment you make your own decisions where you fly at night you have all three controls let's do a few pickups and set Downs in the grass here we'll do one into the wind going 90 degrees left one behind us we'll do all three of those Vortex uh those ltes that was very nice and what do we what are we thinking about in Grass what are we more concerned about than anything in Grass about getting the skid caught that's exactly right Dynamic rollover pivot Points um you can pick her up if you want so it's a real gentle General General gentle gentle raise you're filling the helicopter up and a real gentle gentle set down we feel this thing coming up on one side we lower the collect them and stop it we don't want it to roll over all right all right left 90 degrees so what I'm saying is LTE loss of fail rotor Effectiveness yeah there's three of those okay down right here uh-huh all right let's pick her back up put her put her tail right to the wind which is about right along in here we're fixing to get one so I'm thinking about the winds trying to blow you that way too so you might have to put a little touch of aft in when we get her up I just figuring those on over here hold her right there yeah right there that's um the weather stability one of three we have weather cops the building when the tail is directly into the wind all right one of three ltes awesome teller effect on this and we have a keep on fighting there you're doing a good job and we have a Vortex ring stick when the tail rotor is directly into the wind on our left side that's by far the worst one and then we have main rotor interference but we've got a left quarter inch crosswind hitting the tip of the blades here the blades are throwing the dirty air back in our tail rotor but yeah you'll sense that one more like a forward flight she wants to wag on you all right let's set her down right here with the sport this uh toilet stability a little more difficult yeah we don't want to make a habit of this I mean you always want to be in those into the wind but guess what you flew in for lunch well was on your nose when you go out four o'clock that afternoon the wind may be on your tail so you need to know how to do it you need to what to expect all right and there's just no more than just flying the machine eyes outside thinking about that wind blowing on your back they take a touch of ABS to hold you over this spot just thank yourself through it very nice very nice all right let's go left 90 here this is by far the worst look at that Vortex out there oh yeah we're clean over here though so let's put the nose back over this way now this is our open door so we want to be in those over here and want that land blowing all up in our skirt all right I'll set her down right here let's stay with it it's kind of tighten up on the controls a little bit just work yourself through it it's totally doable yeah not a problem just being aware of what being prepared for what's fixing to happen and that's coloring the wind around you knowing you're knowing that that's red air that's red air you know what I'm saying all this is Vortex now I've got my tail stuck out here in this dirty oh man it gets crazy so you just want to expect you want to know what to expect all right all right these are all yours are you thinking about this you might have to put a little bit of left cycle again to give you some rolling over that way just kind of think about leaning into that wind yeah yeah and I was back into the wind all right now set it down here there's our there's our door all right we're trying to get out of this Burning house another door right there set her down right here that was pretty uneventful ain't it yeah that feel good oh yeah so this is this is what you choose you're a fireman trying to get out of this house you're gonna choose that door if you're a helicopter pilot trying to get this thing flying you're gonna choose this door as well so good awesome all right because these are on up that dude's still pretty uh he's still doing his run up pennies are on up not just a normal takeoff here and we'll go right on out there very nice yep max power looking for 60 knots look at it turns shorter to Runway here so we don't cross over it Center Line Ford City traffic helicopter four seven departing from the grass parallel one four uh left traffic for one four left over [Music] uh-huh yep 300 foot across wind looking for 60 knots that mother yeah there's a nice clean left Crossway let's get roller on it on a nice parallel downwind by 500 foot yes sir working right on over here left down with nice and pretty and parallel nice and clean um good crispy patterns crispy crispy all right crispy chicken I don't like crispy chicken nah it ain't good for you I'm all about the uh packing Wings yeah I'm about ready for a Hooters oh yeah I guess not about a month ago or something maybe a student I don't know what it was but I got a uh Courtesy car at the airport I drove my ass right on the Hooters I sure did I got me 10 Daytona Wings naked and I got me 10 naked three mile Islands this don't seem right eating wings out beer though right and I couldn't do it yeah all right bring her right on here but for more City traffic helicopter four seven channels left face the final Runway one four straight in auto rotation there buffer yep 70-75 on the entry your ship's set up good we'll do a nice gauge check everything looks good no traffic we got this dude down here rebuilding his engine on the taxiway oh he's going back yeah must have got a lot lost back now he's running he's trying to turn her around oh he's turning around all right I was outside three two one go eyes outside knock disconnect all right let's go in and check our RPM it's coming up so we're gonna put a check here oh beautiful job just stay with it big dog RPM yeah got to get that nose back over we're doing Auto like this we're just going to follow up yeah you got to get her Platinum back in here good job all right let's go do one more of those that worked out really nice that was good you feeling them yeah it takes a little while it does yeah I mean it's a damn dollars yeah just cut the engine off on the damn helicopter yeah they're big you have all three controls I'm gonna have a smoky tree [Music] left downwind 500 feet was a guy that um that guy left the guy we were talking to is when trying to fly to Sanford but years yeah let's check the radar before we can take off but this is scary oh I got students man just 45 50 hours that don't even look at the weather they just drive down here I'm like but did you check the weather I mean come on man and I can't keep doing it because if I keep doing it it's like they never they never do it yeah yeah that's all good let's keep her climbing to a thousand we'll do it there's one from a thousand this time give you a little more time to work okay altitude both report City traffic helicopter four seven Charlie Dallas turning left face to a one mile final for Runway one fourth trading all over one thousand people thank you it doesn't give you a little more time to fill it and fly and we've done these before you know oh yeah and we need to go up to a couple thousand twenty five maybe even three thousand or something do something just really working on the air speeds version of exactly what to do everything's in the green all right eyes outside 70 75 and three two one lower that collector all right now let's do a little thinking RPM it's starting to accelerate so let's catch it yeah but let's pull back there you go okay I'm looking good yeah AirSpeed is wonderful all right so the RPM shots creep up a little just push forward a little cyclic and that's going to bring it down as well lift a little Collective just oh Collective just a touch all right now after that okay and all we're doing yeah all right roll that throttle get that nose over nose over good job Bounty man ain't bad at all y'all do another one yeah all right let's go I like it I like it I like it as well all right so if we've got what's up our people starts to creep up on us a little bit and it's like uh I got 65. 65 is good but 75 is even better yeah because once we get at the bottom the thing just flies and flies and flies so if we've got say 65 or 70 knots and RPMs start to go up a little bit it's okay to check your RPM with your cyclic as well okay you can use more just a little bit with your pitch attitude and just hold the picture a lot of times when we push the cyclic over though to speed the helicopter up as the helicopter increases and air speed
