[Music] [Music] mat [Music] that's a tent right there a big tent mother that's insane yeah that's a six-man tent in that thing that's nutty yep want to see something even nuttier that's a poor man Jesus dude that's ni yeah I brought that one just kind of to show you that's fing crazy like five minutes [ __ ] yep that's why I love these tents dude how much did this one run this is like eight something but worth it like you can set the up for 5 minutes damn dude yep all right it's the first h of the first h of the Season God that's sad first h of the season it's almost November we're set up in our ground blind same spot I was last year for rifle season did a little Scouting Around today didn't bring the camera with cuz it was snowing pretty good but yeah we're going to stick it out here the sun came out now it's melting away most the snow which I was hoping some of that would stick around but it's not looking good for that but whatever we're we're out sitting with a crossbow so we'll see what happens that going to taste good so what did you make us Nick zupa Tuscana it's delicious yeah buddy so I see potatoes bacon sausage and kale otherwise it's just basically uh um there's onions garlic and then just chicken broth nice super easy to make 25° outside and 55 in here that is perfect toasty all right it is November 1st we just graduated to the big tent here Nick took off this morning he had bunch of doctor's appointments today so he's not uh he's not hunting with us this year but he'll probably be with us next year so that'll be cool got everything moved out of the Red Cliff and into the Cabella's alak Knack tent here pretty much set up in here for just me dad's coming up in the morning so we'll get him all moved in and set up up it is absolutely dead quiet silent out here not a breeze and well since you were the only one that shot a deer last year we clearly did something right setting it up yeah how many years do you sit in that old stand the whole ladder is still there so this is your what year up here maybe 47 years cuz I think that was I came up the year my dad died that was in 76 well yeah when I my first year yeah it was you me David Matt Donnie Maddie and oh Howie I think no Howie didn't come up right away he was a few years after wasn't John Henry too nope John Henry was done up here by the time I started he was down on there 10 acres yep I don't know whether he ever shot a deer up here or not he'd sit up in his stand and smoke yeah well I can't say nothing about that cuz that biggest buck I've shot up here that eight or 10 or whatever it was I was wind at my back and it came in down below me and almost 10:00 in the morning poured my second cup of coffee had a cigarette in my mouth and straight down went for me just stopped didn't looked at me well that's like year that we shot three deer right away David was in his stand down towards where Matt is MHM he shot two deer right away and we gutted him and everything so he was going back to get the pickup so I just sat up in his stand and waited for him and then all of a sudden that big one came came by and I so close I couldn't even get it get couldn't put my scope on it so I just kind of pointed and shot and got him right through the neck nice I've only got that one double up here where I I dumped those two dos within 30 seconds 30 seconds of each other and well that was it too after we gutted that one out and then we hauled it up the hill and got got it and David's pick up her hands are all bloody and everything and then Joe finally shows up did you guys get anything yeah we're done hunting and we were we went down to hopped in a jeep after that well probably afternoon went down to Ronnie Jensen did you ever were you ever out there was at their place over here I was at their one right outside of town yep what was I doing that year I don't remember it was I know there's only been a couple of years that you haven't made it I think it God what was it it was after we moved to Fargo and I don't know if it was just something with work that you couldn't get get it off or whatever it was but yeah it was the one year you didn't come up and me and Matt just stayed in the the little tent I think that's maybe why you didn't come is cuz we didn't have we didn't have it was after your old camper CER yeah Y and then it was I think it was the year after that and then the year before we bought that other small tent that smaller tent and we got the pop are your yeah RV yeah we we had the Breaking Bad RV for we used that for two two or three years yeah was kind of a ghetto piece of [ __ ] but yeah it was starting to rot out in the back end yep the mice liked it oh yeah they sure did the only thing I really liked about that it was so like just throw everything in there and go like packing was a breeze y but that thing was a beast to drive up here cuz the steering was so loose like if it was a calm day and there was no wind to kind of edge the wheel into a little bit I mean there was that much play in the wheel and yeah well we average about one one deer a year yep and it goes in Cycles up here so much too or I remember like the first couple years well I remember the first year where I first came up here well I think I came up was I came up when I was 12 and I think I had to sit with you for that first year oh yeah and then after that we built that real narrow stand kind of like 50 yards from you or whatever it was I shot that first one out of there and there was 8 in of snow on the ground then I think no I remember you sat with me we must a shot at one yeah running down the path down there yeah probably shot four or five times at him well I know when you were it was that first year cuz I remember I you were supposed to be sitting with me and I think you went and sat in Matt stand and I sat in yours and I had a I bet I had a do come 50 yards broadside I think I shot three times and missed every single one cuz I was so I was shaking so bad yeah well it is Friday the Friday before opener I just got my saddle hung up in my same spot that I usually sit I think I'm going to try it here for a couple of days and then if it's pretty unproductive I might find somewhere else to set up but my brother showed up I thought I I think I heard him drive by in his four-wheeler so he's probably getting his blinding [ __ ] set up so so it's a little after 9: on Minnesota's rifle opener it's about 20 23° somewhere right around there barely a breeze and it's been dead quiet here I think we've heard less than 10 shots haven't had a grous I haven't had a squirrel I haven't had nothing by me so just going to stick it out till about noonish and see what the rest of the day brings for backck for for mat it's [Applause] thank you sweetheart this deer isn't going to look like much to uh a lot of people it's just a dough but this is my this is a Redemption deer I haven't after not shooting a deer and hunting my ass off the last 3 or 4 years and just getting skunked and skunked and skunked this is honestly probably one of my favorite deer she uh snuck up behind me in the worst possible spot I'm sitting in my saddle she came in over my left shoulder I just happened to look over and saw her sitting there she saw me as soon as I turned around so I froze for God what felt like 20 minutes but I'm sure it was just a minute or two and then she started working her way back around and I was hoping she'd come back down to this Trail and cut across down here and it's exactly what she did and took her at about 60 65 yards something like that when she snuck up on me she she was at about I would say 30 but I couldn't be more happy with this deer right now I'm just giddy so let's get her cleaned up and get her back to Camp the drag out of here is going to suck all right it is the evening have Minnesota's rifle opener sitting on for the evening sit getting out here late I only got about two hours to not even two hours to sit it's 4:30 right now had to run it town and get that dough tested for CWD but took the scenic way home and then spend a little extra time cleaning it up once we got it hung and now we're back to it barely a breeze out here today I was going to I was thinking about sitting out in this spot last night with my crossbow but as we were dinking around camp we heard a bunch of bells and [ __ ] and came up the trail a little bit and there were some people pecking berries 100 yards away from this [Music] blind picking berries in the block or in the little swamp area below me two dogs and two people dogs running all over this spot so I don't know how well that's going to go but kind of pisses me off update it is 5:30 it's about 38° got about roughly 45 minutes of shooting light but I think we're uh going to have a little less than that today as overcast as it is still just dead quiet up here I don't think I've heard a shot all afternoon out here at least anything that's close yeah the temp is dropping Like a Rock right now but we'll see how this last half hour goes and then heading back and cooking up them tender [Music] lines well good morning it's the Sunday of opening weekend I slept in today I'm going to try since I already have my deer I'm going to try something a little different and I'm going to uh just dink around Camp till about 11:00 and then I'm going to go out see if there's anything running around midday it's Sunday up here so I have a feeling guys are going to be walking through the woods pulling in their stands and [ __ ] and maybe spooking some deer around this afternoon so I'm going to try to take advantage of that if it happens so this morning I just been uh cutting a little wood getting the wood stove going in the Red Cliff again which we're using as our pter [ __ ] up here since it's floorless and a single wall tent and the uh temp fluctuations up here it gets pretty damp in there if you're not running a stove the whole time which we haven't been just drying that out show you our setup here so we've got the little wood stove here that's just getting cranked up got our [ __ ] Little Buddy Heater just to take the chill out in the morning we take our morning dumps but yeah plenty of room for storage if we need it but oh well that's going to show up but there is a bit of condensation in here so hopefully we can get that dried up in no time and put it's just Dead Calm I've heard Two Shots this [Music] morning it is 10:50 in the morning I just got out to the blind made a little mock scrape and put a little dop PE and we'll uh just see what the Day brings it's about 30ish degre it's been kind of light drizzle on and off today so we'll see how this plays out well it's about 5 minutes to 5 here now the sun has officially set I've got about 10 maybe 15 more minutes of actual shooting light unless something monstrous struts his ass up in front of me I think I'm about done for the day which is good I'm sick sitting here and I got to pee real bad take it you didn't see anything no I don't yeah what about you Dad nothing I saw three do did you really no [ __ ] they're going downhill about 20 yards on the other side of my old stand no [ __ ] yep nice and I just kept looking for the buck to follow no way good morning sitting out the blind this morning it's about 8:50 rained all night this morning so it's a uh humid chilly out this morning and there hasn't been a thing moving plan is to sit out here till 11:00 probably go back and have breakfast and then head right back out here the temp is supposed to be dropping throughout the day so I figure might as well just sit out here getting some pretty gnarly wind gusts every now and then it's c calm right now but we've had some gnarly gusts come through this morning but for all right so it's Monday afternoon just got back out into the tree saddle again I let the woods calm down for about a day after I shot that dough out of here it's pretty chilly and windy it's a humid humid humid day with all the rain we got last night found a couple of rubs on the ground on my way out here so I or a couple scrapes on the ground so I put a little do PE on them and I got a couple little Scent Bombs out and see if we can't entice Mr Buck to come out and play I don't think I sat down in this spot at all last year in the afternoon I think I sat in the ground blooding pretty much every time but we'll give it a shot see what happens dad said he saw those was dough last night and he rarely sees deer in the afternoon at his spot so wind is not doing me any favors it's right in my back blowing pretty much the direction that I shot that dough taking the saddle down when I come out of here tonight and I'm just going to sit in that ground blend in the morning tomorrow is our last day here and we're only hunting till 8 or 9 so last evening sit of the Season let's hope it's a good one for not a thing moving today I'm going to give it about 40 more minutes and I'm going to start taking down this tree saddle it's going to take me a little bit to take it down get all my gear stowed that is the the plan unless of course Mr Big Buck walks by before then which would be awesome all right well here we are the end of another deer camp this is my Eighth Day up here I didn't sit very long in the blind today since it was starting to snow a bit weather's supposed to turn I wanted to come back and get all our [ __ ] packed start on it anyway supposed to get a bunch of rain freezing rain snow sleep whatever it's going to be right about the time we plan on pulling out of here so as usual the weather's turning bad right as we leave had an absolute blast this year it was cool as [ __ ] getting Nick up here and finally getting back on the board so yeah we will see you all on the next one it's not answering you huh oh you're so tough are you so tough
