i am your vibing one of the living legends in dancehall music his parents named him norman washington jackson but we know him as tiger father tiger hello alice valesa long right mad person there was an artist who came about who sounded like tiger no like a fool there is a word out there that you actually beat up zebra no lie no foreign teach them i just make sure the message i reach them the great tiger all things sir thank god i'm alive it's great talk to us where were you born i it's good to speak too yeah i was born kingston jubilee hospital yeah and grew brought up in kingston six area kingston six which community was that that was in top side much of this corner okay but i'm trying puppy yes across from hope passes and muna yeah how many brothers and sisters you have two sisters and four brothers two sisters and four brothers all of them celeron still alive um one guy so two of your siblings faster two brothers my condolences reader mommy and daddy celeron they with new men telling people about me and that's where it developed from yeah after that i went to blackstone black star yeah we all like my kind of like sharp money all right my kind of speaking yes crown cheddar i'm boiling water and kettle you know kind of wait yeah so most of being a dj i'm an entertainer to accept me accept me you know yeah before we go back to the black star thing though how was it growing up in kingston six door from our financial perspective was it hard for mommy and daddy to keep food on the table another question only asked me that it was easy though yes but i made way yes for them not making out of it yes yes so even though it wasn't easy mommy and daddy tried to put food on the table you never leave real yes that is good awesome stuff so no you went to black star and you started and i mean freestyle and work on the song yeah how was that no i i when i was working on a black star sound system as a dj one of these among brigadier jerry yeah brought back and my i'm telling myself yes um danny [Music] i said okay this is it i'm i'm i'm going to stick around with black star yes to be one of the mere arts around them [Music] but people start loving me so much more than going to my head yes they invite me to some um association like tiger who would like to make you want someone else's go to fire and make some money and so so yeah that's all me and black so i would depart okay how old were you at the time remember i'm in the 20s so when you when you went to black star door sir tiger did you take on the tiger near mazetta [Laughter] all right my first dj name is ranking tire all right let's see there's a tiger give it to them musicality but my first name is ranking and i sing a song disco fortified yeah why can't you leave the jedi and they did yeah all right to my experience yeah it's nowhere big big but they promote the producer took it to foreign countries yeah some establishments you know yeah it did okay overseas but not so great in jamaica they're sure about that so you were still on the zone system at the time you know people started here and i've always dragged on out you know what i performed yeah unstoppable smile i you you know what um a one time um uh manjaro at the same time i was done by standby i was in iran and amazon three songs yeah sent off and then they keep they kept that i sent up then two black star was going to find okay cool it goes nice yeah so i'm going to pop and yeah excited you know what i can do the best of my ability and go through so what's your name father tiger um why don't you leave dreadlocks alone was the first official song you recorded you're going to the studio of us who brought that to student to do that sir um i'm a president named philip grant in mona philip grant no i forget him yeah what was that experience like going to the studio for the first time we just want accept the experiences and further experience and knowledge of what you have to do to the best ability when was inspired by your visit to england and you see big bed so you were traveling overseas now yeah everybody was a war advisor almost no like no like a chance like that everyone running pizza time yeah life change overall we have accepted i know we are the university um the jewelry came the car ski and the girls scam yes when i fell on my wheels but tiger was living the life the starlight right here yeah tiger was i flying as i said you know one of the main one of the dance our space the big name right when did you started working with shocking vibes how did that come about from long time building tiger you have worked with everybody ariji yes that's as you know immediate problem you don't know i was supposed to you don't find enough yeah and informative yeah you also did songs like ram dancer bulldog yeah you did collaborations with people like super cat that's a big big song big big suck yeah oh that sound came about though what america america right yeah people yeah um foreign again but you were also one of the first dancer artists to a tiger to really cross over because they did a song with fat boys that's one what about q-tip yeah yeah still you know about it who responsible for that fight why is that yeah laying supposedly on time again i didn't mind it yeah yeah what's that song recorded oh they are overseas then two party oh so you will do yours for them wanna go yeah man but you were the one who was responsible for for growing them growing two yeah two other four the first two so so how old were they when you actually started becoming the star in the your feet so to speak you understand every artist one be like tiger ever produced a one wise tiger yeah remember we said that you started oh no you were one of the first entertainers to purchase a never worked and you uh you met another girl by the name of donna thompson yeah so donna was he had done a few months before that unfortunate accident right talk do you remember the circumstances though which led up to the to that faithful day why it was the 18th of january 1994. you remember the circumstances that the that led up to that unfortunate incident america we are right but the people only saw them all right yeah so i'm out here from our tree the person who claims [Music] turn from me go into the runners when you're gonna stop and make me pass what you tell them to meet you and kill me so you actually saw the vehicle you just drove many people said that you were showing off on dilly dallying in a tiger gardener right fast enough so you weren't riding fast no see you passed your thumb yeah it'd be having a ride for movies [Music] that's what the doctor said he said right cool certain personality a memory yeah the doctor pronouns are dead so you're a dead man how long were you in hospital far though yeah you don't see it i'm saying it's god it was a praise god i was not scared at the time i'm saying them mixed up or gotta make it through you know god i'm a government one of them from from africa to all i'm going to well never like disappear what a coincidence you everything you know i guess so it was rough health-wise what and you were at the university hospital after west indies how long were you actually in the hospital for do you have any idea months intensive care thank you so you're in coma and you were in intensive care for about four months so what was it like though in terms of covering medical costs at the time to a tiger because you were an artist depending on going to the studio for record going on the stage perform but you were not confined to a hospital bed so the morning wasn't coming in anymore it's good when you work and use your brain and seal yeah so you have savings so the money the money dwindled so much that he actually had to borrow to cover some of my hospital cars somehow tiger you had many entertainer friends at the time you and many other men you also power and work together and at the moment never come to your head and said tiger but know the situation [Music] [Music] up they weren't invented not supposed to be that's right when the thing got really rough financially there was an effort to hold a fundraising event fire but by pulse led by kingsley cooper but none of the artists them with the exceptional bone tequila and probably a few others turn up but they know why they don't really want to come forward you stick out so no no no brushing them tearing up some people it's a june one like yourself moldy no killer killer yeah real general real man vermouth one diamonds yeah word on the street were tiger that the driver of the vehicle that hit after bike was a u.s diplomat did she actually come to the hospital to visit when am i too brave yeah so did she did did she not come to a tiger because she probably was fearful that somebody around you know would have probably hurt her i can't remember the questions thanks for asking yeah have you spoken to her anytime at all since the 18th of january 1994. she couldn't remember she never wanted to buy it so everything that she did was through the liar she'd never come to you and say my apologies xyz or oh the recovery process is why and some nothing settlement 10 years after the accident that them say what you will say memorabilia yeah not getting into the actual figures do it but you weren't satisfied with the settlement [Music] how can i be here so you weren't satisfied with the settlement because in reality tiger you would have lost a decade of your life trying to recover from that accident yeah so you you couldn't go perform your record people will build me up hello so what you know why do wasn't there a situation where you had a liar we are trying to fight because you would have lost considerable earnings over that 10-year period there yeah you want to hear my life talk to me where my criminal yeah [Music] a few months before the accident donna thompson came in her life she was your common law wife at the time she she would have stuck with you accidentally she would have stuck with you during the accident and during the recovery still she was there she was also there during this settlement well my mo saying this she was able to own me she was there but she wasn't there he also left jamaica for a while i like a portion of that i look for fortunate time done i was with you maybe [Laughter] about a minute for what when the settlement came you were with donna thompson at the time yeah but information is out there that all the money that was agreed in the settlement was signed over to her not to you yeah yeah so it means and that you will not know how much money you get in a city check and i said nothing you know i wasn't supposed to see that i don't see it yeah she also know took you on and you guys went overseas you know yeah yeah some higher places you know yeah so basically then tiger bs here so she would have used your status to benefit herself financially yeah yeah you were away you were in england and she would have also gotten employment with green sleeves to your recommendation i'm probably i'm sitting there but people are longer from around as well so she was one of the true anger choose what never tell boys yeah you know who's my bedroom yeah eventually you came back with 30 pounds in your pocket so you left her over there she put you up me come on you come on why did you come out though that's not where i'm at that's not where we're supposed to be so you decided to come back home because that is not where in your head you were supposed to be sure but you came back i broke mine again tiger well better than me someone broke down there foreign and happy i'm very happy make a lot of sense and no one knows you neither it works yeah me i played guilty people myself that know right um turned up live right thank god for life so despite the accident though you're still able to remember your songs they give thanks every time we go yeah you would have worked many places do tiger many many places where's your favorite place to perform hey nothing like logo certain caribbean yeah why somebody remind me of america makes sense makes sense california [Music] yeah so what you know after all the stages you have worked at the perform door sir tiger which stage are the biggest stage in terms of the crowd in front of you that you can remember the biggest crowd ever performed there's you one time one time one day it would be sting thing one time accept it yes because enough people want your tiger i know yeah yeah in america which one of them has done the best for you from a financial perspective with some film at the most money account to me my prize you matter no yeah everything you get when come on when and secondly [Laughter] i said artists x y z but you know i'd agree with tiger they come with this i mean accidentally ask no one complains of me about me hello that thing please right [Music] you are the first artist or vice bombastic because they never want to say fantastic and him use it and he'll never reach out and you'll never benefit from in norway at all no i've benefited from it but not a guru right now another another big song where i have heard um an artist kind of sample is popular you benefit from that either you know what you mean that yeah no so nobody from nobody from sean paul i've never reached or theory repopulated yeah i understand that steps are being made for you to benefit from that financially and there are other songs out there that tiger has done that has been sampled by other entertainers but you're not benefiting from those from those things i'm telling them say before they remember i said then i said what's the one god he wanted you to see the voice who is here yeah okay what do you do to see the voice queen and grab freezer yeah so those are your three biggest songs commercially what of all the songs that you have done tiger which song is your favorite song and that song that you made the really remember what that means [Laughter] before the accident tiger you were focusing primarily on music but if you weren't dj in our singing leading up to the accident what is that one career where you didn't say tiger do something else outside is your greatest achievement that thing that when they look funny i say yeah i may achieve that something you feel proud of other items yeah and anything where you would where you prouder where you achieve what that means thank you my life your life also um would you do anything differently if i get the chance to redo the entire journey new musical is there any one thing yes yo i'm sorry somebody that's up there one thing seven minutes that's what you're doing i want you to know differently if you couldn't do it over believe me my second question don't you interview and don't jump up on it yeah sure so tiger now has been the journey still continuously recovery but you have come on far away because as we said earlier doctors pronouns you're dead ty got dead but thai guy is still in more than nine lives there's no one more thing yeah them said somebody give cat nine left but like ten guys you even know what i'm doing again god if you stop the journey is a rough week suggested financially it was rough um so no speech therapy i get some thumb done by matias earlier thank you i've been important you are important legendary yeah not present there let's do anything thank you so you have come far enough where you can go back on stage and perform you have done quite a number of shows in the past five five hours a year they actually went on a tour to the united states in 2017 keep on doing not doing yes you're not finished or go on still have more whoa and they are more about seven hours yeah no the real expression you know many hits and work with so many producers what is the situation where your royalties and publishing do you are you are you getting benefit are you benefiting financially from from the world that you would have put in during the years yeah so after all the struggles that you have gone through since the accident none of the money came looking at himself and said yo even if we never did do it before
