I feel very privileged that I was able to find this car all those years ago and it's still very special to me we had a special display here at the Camaro Nationals this week and I was asked to be in the original Survivor category which is where I am we're at Camaro Nationals 2023 you can see that they have it kind of broken into sections here they have a whole bunch of Copo cars Z28 cars and we're going to get started on those cars right now the first car we have here is a fathom green 69 of course it is a Z28 but what's cool is it does have the the cross ran intake now this is an x-33 car from the factory so that means that the RS here is correct if it was a x77 car it would not have the Hideaway headlights on it it also would have the Chrome accents down the side it's got the the gills on it and the x33 cars also got the black rocker panel that was underneath here as well this car does look like it has the Rosewood steering wheel in here it does have the houndstooth interior I'm not sure if that's an a-track player on the inside there if someone could leave a comment below just let me know what that is but what's cool about this car is it doesn't actually have a spoiler on it you can see that there's no there's no spoiler on the back here and there's also no uh no cow hood on this car so this car is done pretty much the exact way that it left the factory something that I think is pretty cool is a flat Hood Z28 car the second Camaro we have here is also a 69 now this is a uh it's also an x-33 car but you can see it does not have the Hideaway headlights now all z28's got the Argent silver front grille here on the front now why is the silver grill important well if we go back and take a look at the RS Camaro over here the rsz28 we can see that the Grille in this car is actually black if this was a black painted car this Grill would have actually been silver we'll see if they have one here at the show so this is a pretty cool car this is a 1968 Camaro Z28 so it does have a 302 down in here for the engine however it is an Mo motor and the way that we can check that is by the actual stamp on the side of the block here now I'm not seeing one on the side of this block I'm not saying it's not there we might just have to a little bit of tracing to find out or it could have been replaced I'm not a hundred percent sure but what's really cool about this car this specific 1968 Z28 it was sold new by Berger Chevrolet now what exactly is Berger Chevrolet they were like a Yanko or a Nikki they were kind of like a super car dealer and we can see the actual logo on the back of the tail pan here itself now they're not really known for the cars that they've built they do you know built cars just like this one or they sold this car but they are known for their aftermarket or High Performance Chevrolet parts they had a specific catalog that you could buy all of the parts from overall really cool car you can see the owner here they actually have it at Berger Chevrolet he does have the plaque here and everything pretty cool 1968 Z28 so this is a 396 car we'll see exactly what okay so it is an X11 car so it wasn't actually a 396 from the factory however it does look like it was done very very well but what I wanted to show you guys is the grill in this S car for the super sports actually would be black so black grills on the super sport cars it's not a Copo if you're if you're wondering if it was a big block X11 Copo car they would have could have been X11 cars but they would have had 427s in it you can see here that the tail is blacked out for the big block package it also has a posi rear end that's what this sticker's for and these these lines I know I spoke about them in a previous video but the reason that they're diagonal is because that this was taped from the factory in other words that's just the tape line where they would tape there spray it and then pull the tape off so it wasn't ever done a hundred percent diagonally correct but that is the way that they're supposed to be from the factory so this car is done very very very well so this Camaro is actually a 1970 Camaro you can see that it does have a 396 350 horsepower says that it's a one of 1874 produced I don't know my numbers on 70 cars a hundred percent correct so maybe someone can help me out in the comments below but this car does have the Rally Sport package on it which does have the the split bumper in the actual front if it wasn't a Rally Sport package then the bumper would continue the whole way around the front of this car but cool stuff for 1970 they actually were 1970 and a half so the tooling for the quarter panels on these cars was not ready from um Chevrolet so they actually kind of decided to not make these cars until that tooling was correct and that didn't start until 1970 and a half so that's why the 69 Camaros had a run of 200 000 but overall really cool car big block air conditioning we'll take a look on the inside does have the the four speed in there I mean that just looks like the most beautiful cockpit to me so this car behind me right here again is a 1969 fathom Green Camaro but this one is completely original and unrestored and what's really cool is it is a very very late car built it does have a build date of 11a you can see that kind of down there hopefully it does have the x33 d80 designation which would mean that the spoiler by this time in production was mandated on these cars something that I'm not really familiar with is the the white paint that's in here now that is actually correct it's not something that I've seen before that remember this is a late production car and you can tell that by the actual VIN number itself so it has a seven after the n and most people that have Camaros would have a five or a six in that location this was built probably one or two days before actual Camaro Productions stop and this is the owner of the car and what what is your name Sir Jay Jay and I'm I'm Parker and do you mind just telling us a little bit about this car maybe in a long time it's basically the same as it the car is the same as when I bought it 23 years ago and just enjoy the car it's a good old car it's pretty original and and maybe what what have you learned about the car since owning it or or what maybe can you tell us about the car that you've stumbled across now that you've had 20 years to kind of well and learn more just be the caretaker of it this is the first year it's been at the show here at Camaro Nationals I've never had it to another Camaro show and I'm learning from the guys here and finding out more and more about the car uh when I bought it that long ago it's just a nice old 69 Camaro that I enjoyed and I wanted to own a 69 Camaro so I bought one but uh I've learned a lot more about the car and I know it's a very late car it's pretty much the way I bought it yeah you just don't see them like this thank you for your time thank you for figuring out so the Camaro behind me is pretty special and this is an actual Coco car now Copo cars were usually either X11 or x44 cars and all the way back there we can see that it does have an X11 and it does say d80 on the end of that X11 designation so we we know that it does have the actual spoiler and the rear spoiler on the back now this is a Copo car so it would have had a 427 engine in it from the factory and what's really cool is that it is an RS car okay so you don't really see Copo RS cars very often and then this car is also painted in Black which makes it even more rare and that would be a 10 on the designation on the the cow tag back there pretty difficult to see but what's also cool is that this car has a special paint order and I'll show you that window sticker for the car we can see that it was designated with special paint and it did have a posi track 410 gear ratio in the back Z28 cars and z11 and Z10 cars are really the only cars that actually came with stripes from the factory and that's probably why this car was designated with the special paint and what's even cooler is that we're not a hundred percent sure if the actual Stripes were there from the factory but we do know that we have a picture from back in the day of the car with the orange stripes here on the side what's also pretty cool is that this car is a RS car meaning it does have the Hideaway headlights which normally would have the RS designation on the side here but we can see that this one has Camaro instead of Rally Sport and on the plaque down here we can confirm that this car was built before June 1st 1969 which is when they would have switched over to the rally designation sport on the side of the car and so this is Kim's car and basic what I wanted to ask him is is kind of what what is the story with this car how did you find it where did it come from how did you come across anything that you can kind of share with us or maybe the viewers at home well I had I bought it over 40 years ago oh cool and the motor in the hood were gone and this still has the original transmission sheet metal okay and uh then we started it in 17 of April redoing it and finished it in May of 18. 18. and this is what we got so that's why it doesn't have the actual real 427 down in there it's good right you got it without the block and that's very very common with with these cars I don't think that it takes anything away from the car at all but I personally have never seen one with black with orange stripes have have you seen one no that's the only one the only one yeah very very cool car Kim thank you for bringing out thank you for your time so what's really cool is we have two Camaros here we have a Z10 car that we've kind of talked about here lately and we'll go over this car in just a moment but we also have a z11 car and I'm just going to show you the differences um between these two cars now they both are 350 cars you could have got a 396 Big Block in both cars but these have the the small blocks on the inside but what's different about them of course is that this one has a convertible top for the z11 and this one has a hard top for the Z10 now a few videos back I did mention that they do not have any orange houndstooth interior in z10s but this car does have a orange houndstooth interior in it and I'll show you that they actually have an article over here well first we'll take a look at the tag it does say Z10 right here on the actual tag itself but if we look at interior designation we see 727 which would be an ivory interior designation not the actual orange houndstooth itself so this orange houndstooth has been added to the car and if we read the the section of this magazine right here it does talk about how there was never any ordered with the orange houndstooth from the factory you could get some houndstooth but just not orange houndstooth but overall very cool car these cars had cow Hoods from the factory they were RS cars so they also got the uh The Hideaway headlights here the lettering on the side of these cars was done by the dealer or the person that bought the car and you can see that it does have the Pinstripe that goes down the side and the letters have been applied on top of the Pinstripe so this is done perfectly correct really really cool cars they had all the Chrome and everything on them so it had the gills you can see on this one it has the Chrome right here now these cars will have been painted in Dover white so it would have been a 50 designation on the front and if we come around back they would have also got the spoilers just like the the d80 designation they were pretty much top of the line best Camaros that you could have bought for a 1969 kind of as the Indie pace car we can see that this one does have the positraction rear end there are no reverse lights actually inside the tail tail light here and the reverse light is down here so this car is pretty cool this is of course a big block 396 car done in red it does have black stripe here and that looks pretty cool with the blacked out Grille in my opinion but what's really cool is uh we have mentioned this in several videos but this is a Super Sport Hood it does weigh a little bit more than the actual flat hoods and the cow induction hoods so it does have 28 coil springs instead of 26 that actually make this Hood operate but we call these ice cube trays the reason being because we grew up here in the Northeast and whenever it rains in the winter or snows the water freezes in here and then it actually pops out and looks like ice cubes now this is a convertible big block car so it is a pretty sought after car to begin with it does have the a-track player in there which is pretty cool but the actual convertibles got narrower back seat you can see that it does have an ashtray on the actual back piece back there which actually makes the seat a little bit narrower with the actual convertible pieces for the for the top that comes down so all Coupe back seats were the same length convertible seats were a little bit narrower in 1969. what's cool is this car behind it is actually a 1969 Z28 but you can see here on the board that it isn't jl8 four-wheel disc brake car one of 206 and it's actually got a also an Endura front bumper on here which was body color I mean I do happen to know that they made 466 burnished Brown Z28 so it is a one of 466 color one of 206 jl8 option and I'll show you what that means so that means that this car had disc brakes in the front all z28s had disc brakes in the front we can see the master cylinder in the reservoir right here but this car would have also got disc brakes in the back now we can get here it's going to be a little bit difficult to tell but it does have disc brakes and the actual rear end itself is a little bit different so it would have also been a 12 volt and on the inside here where the disc Ray kind of like right there where the disc meets the actual rear end it kind of it it tapers down it's not just flush in there so that's one little unique option about the jl8 brakes and not a whole lot of people know now they switched over to a little bit different style wheel the actual Wheels look very similar but the codes for these wheels when the jl8 option came out for the Z28 they would have went to a y h code wheel so this car would have had rallies on it that say YH if it's correct for a jl8 car so this Le Mans blue right here this is actually an RS SS and what I mean by that is it does have the The Hideaway headlights here but it does have the SS designation so anytime an RS car was a super sport also all of the RS badges got switched over to the the high higher SS option now we can see that in order to operate these Hideaway headlights they were only operated by vacuum with a switch on the inside we can see the canister is right here and then the vacuums also ran off the wiper motor and you can see that they all plug in right here now we can see that it does have the big block engine down inside here with uh it does say the 325 horse designation so unlike the the one fuel line on the 396 375 horsepower that we took back this one has two you can kind of see that down there at the bottom also big block specific would be the heater box we've talked about that on previous videos and all Big Blocks got the smog equipment and that's what these pieces are right here we can compare that to the original car that we saw earlier this car is an x-22 so on the tag here we can see it says X and then 22. now you could get Big Blocks that were x66s or you could get Big Blocks that were x22 396s and I'll show you the difference so the x22 cars got the appearance package which means that it does have the the Chrome that goes down the side here it got the gills but it also got the black sill plate down here you can see that this one's been painted black now there's a little bit of discrepancy on the actual color of that black whether it was a gloss or a matte cars that I've owned that were original unrestored have always been a matte color but remember they've been sitting outside or in barns for many many years so I can't tell you if it was lost from the factory or not but again also on the back of this car it would have the uh the blacked out tail pan and notice that it doesn't say RS here it just says Super Sport and it also says R It also says Super Sport right here on steering wheel and it says SS on the side here instead of Rally Sport we take a look at all of the Camaros in this row right here a lot of heavy hitter cars but in my opinion my favorite color is the gold and of course it's because I have a gold car this was Olympic gold for 1969. it does have the Endura bumper on here and they have different brackets for the Endura bumper than the regular bumpers for Camaros not something that we can really show on camera a hundred percent but just something that should be noted I just think this is a beautiful beautiful car with the black hockey stripe down the side here it does have uh looks like all the paperwork here for the car but what's cool is it has the protecto plate on this side and I'll show you that right here and this plate right here tells us exactly where it was sold it also basically tells us who the original owner was so that we know who the car was sold to has its uh information and it's done backwards so that you can take a tracing of it and on a piece of paper just a little bit different not something that very rarely do you actually get protecto plates with the cars now this car behind us is also a Z28 the valve covers on z28s were a little bit different than valve covers for the Corvette although they were the same the color is a little bit different so on a Corvette these valve covers would have been Chrome but on a Z28 they would have actually been kind of a dull color like this now if we also take a look at the head on this car we can see that it has double humps here now these basically were 302 blocks they are stamped DZ and and how you get a 302 block is you take a 327 which wasn't available for the full year run for Camaro just the early cars got the 327s in them the base V8 cars not all of them just the base V8 cars but you take that block you put a 283 crank which is another V8 that Chevrolet makes and then you get the 302 designation and you also put these heads on top of here with the double hump and they also would be labeled 186. this car behind us is also a 69 Z28 car but this one has the the cross ram intake on it and what I mean by cross ram intake is we can see that that car just has a different air see how with the cow induction hood um this all closes of course and the air gets pushed down inside here and it makes more horsepower but it only has one carburetor on this car this one has the the cross rim on it so you can see that the intake which was made by Winters we can see the The Foundry stamp right there all Z28 intakes have that stamp on it the winter stamp but this has two carburetors on it they are correct they do say Holley now all z28s had one fuel line they were three and they were 3 8 inches big we can see that it does have one fuel line on it and that goes to an actually Holley carburetor later on it doesn't matter whether it was cross cross ram or just a regular single carburetor car they all had dual exhaust from the factory so there is a doubler plate on the inside right there you might not be able to see it but that's kind of how you check and see if your car was a dual exhaust car there's a plate back there on the actual frame rail itself got something special for you so this is an original Yanko Camaro we can see that it does have the the Yanko stripes down the side but what I want to show you is this plaque right here first before we actually dive into this car it's going to kind of give us a rundown exactly of what a Copo is so we can see that it might be this car right here this is actually Don Yanko with the picture of the 350th Yanko conversion not actual Camaros it says that there were 201 were Camaros now we know that three of them were never delivered or the orders were canceled so there's a 198 but we can also learn that this car has the 140 mile an hour speedometer it has the heavy duty suspension which kind of makes it a double Copo in a way it does have the the big block 427 l72 425 horsepower engine down inside there and it does have the the cowl hoods so if you're kind of looking for a Camaro in a field and you want to know basically what you have this has the the big block heater box on it but it also has the hole has the hole down there I'm not going to stick my hand and touch it or anything but it does have the hole down there for the cowl induction hood so if you find a car that has a big block heater box no motor in it but it has the hole there that was a pretty well sought after either a cocoa car or a big block car usually from the factory we can see that it does have the Yanko sticker here it is an x-44 car so this was not a jack Douglas car this car was actually sold in Pennsylvania probably the car from the picture that we took a look down there and I'll explain what I mean by that exactly so most of the cocoa cars that were sold by Yanko were actually x44 cars like most of the copos sold by Chevrolet and we can see that this car x44 doesn't have any of the style trim package so it does not it does not have the Chrome that goes around the outside of the wheel whips it does not have the Chrome that goes down the side of the actual window here it's good to see that they painted the inside of the actual Chrome for the vinyl top black that's the way they were supposed to be from the factory but x44 cars did not get the actual gills in the side and we took a look at a car earlier that had a blacked out piece on the bottom here for the sill plate but x-44 cars did not get those either now of course this has the heavy duty suspension package on it and we did learn a few videos back that in 1969 uh Yanko and the SC stood for Supercar not super Camaro Super Camaros were in 1967 and 68 and 69 he was selling a lot more variety of cars that's why it's called a super car so we looked at a burnished Brown jail eight card down there and this is uh basically the same car without the jl8 brake option it does have the Endura front bumper here now it is a Z28 car and something that I haven't mentioned specifically yet on Z28 cars and that would be correct on the Copo car down here is that pitman arm and what I mean by that is these cars came with a close ratio steering um so that you could steer faster remember they were made to race and want to make sure that you can steer the best on the race track so the pitman arm on these cars is basically 5.8 inches long Center to center now they were a little bit shorter on on regular cars they were 5.5 which would have made more turns on the steering wheel the longer one would have been less turns on on the steering wheel and that's specific to a Copo or Z28 car we can also see that this car has the 8000 RPM tack does have the chambered exhaust and rear window defogger and we'll see if we can take a look that right here the rear window defogger was the option of course you could have just checked that off when you were buying the cars and you can see where it actually heats up the back glass so that if you're here in the Northeast you could kind of melt the snow back there and it also has chambered exhaust you can see the the dimples for the actual chambered exhaust there for pretty cool option sounds pretty cool in my opinion so we're going to start getting into some of the Survivor cars that they have here at Camaro Nationals and those are of course designated by this tag right here and the car that we're trying to talk about is also a dust blue 1969 Z28 Camaro and I love this car I mean check out the just wear and tear on this thing it only has around 30 000 miles on it I've driven about 30 000 miles this year already but we can see that it does have the double hump heads there just if you're trying to learn about these cars try and see if you can find one like this at the show and just kind of take a look about how they were put together because once you take them apart they just don't go back together the way that they they were from the factory it's just impossible it is a x-33 d80 car so it had all the goodies on it of course but I wanted to put this car on camera because this is the only car here so far that I've actually found that was for sale and the owner's name is right here we can see that it does does state that it was a original unrestored Survivor 31 000 miles protecto plate looks like it's got everything certified to be correct in the car it does have the Rosewood steering wheel in here you know most dust blue cars that I've found actually have dust glue Interiors very rarely do you find them with other Interiors but overall really really really cool car I can't convey on camera all the little you know fractures and the pain just the originality of this car very cool now this is a 1969 Cortez silver Z28 and this belongs to a buddy of mine named Rick out of New York and we can see that it is a a Cortez silver car and it still has uh the quartet it has the Argent silver grill in there something that's pretty unique you don't really see silver on Silver combination very often this car has been awarded it has been judged a few times I'm not sure if Rick's here at the show we'll see if we can get him on camera maybe have him talk to us about the restoration quality or process of this car but I want to show you guys kind of difficult but we can take a look over here these cars came with kind of like a splatter paint in the actual trunk and that's kind of what it's supposed to look like right there all 69 Camaros have that I'm not sure if this is an x33 or an x77 car it doesn't have any of the Creature Comforts on the outside so yeah it does say x77 on the actual tag in there with the d80 designation doesn't have the the Chrome right here it doesn't have the actual gills in in the side right here but what caught my eye is we were kind of finishing up the previous video is one thing that I haven't mentioned is the X11 cars got the little Chrome pieces right here in the tail light and the x44 cars did not it looks like this car was sold by Bill herd USA I'm not sure exactly where that's located but probably in the Northeast so I wanted to take a second here and talk about hoods for these cars and we we have two hoods here this is a Z28 and it is a it is a flat Hood car we can see that there is no cow induction here and this is also a Z28 and it has the cow induction hood but how do you know whether your hood is a factory GM hood or not so we can see that this little Notch right here all factory GM hoods have this little Notch if it's aftermarket it would actually be at like a 45 we can see that that's also the same for the cow the cow induction hood style as well now there is several other other differences like this little Notch right here would be correct for a GM hood and there's several differences right up in here for the PAD as well as the the way that the metal is kind of welded together up in here it's a little bit more stronger but what's cool is you can tell a 69 Hood from a 67 and a 68 Hood they were basically all the same now this is a flat Hood so if you saw this at Carlisle or some sort of swap meet or something like that the 69 hoods have a dimple you can see how there's like a like a dimple here now they have both of them the 67s and the 68s have the whole but the 69 cars just had this little dimple that sticks out and I'll show you on this car over here now this is a 68 car but there's no there's no actual dimple something that not a lot of whole people know about about cow hoods and flat hoods on Camaro this car right here is a Copo car and my in my opinion you just don't see this color combination very often we can see it does have the the silver grill here in the front but the Copo cars they got the actual blue bow tie something that's really cool about the blue bow tie a lot of people think that you can tell by the actual holes here in the trunk it's it's kind of commonly mistaken that people think that the Z28 logos and the SS logos that bolt back here have different bolt holes but it doesn't matter what logo you put on the back here they're all diagonal you can see that this car does not have an actual spoiler on it or anything like that it was just kind of like a play Lane Jane Carr what I also mean by that is it does have the the steel wheels now these would be 15 inch wheels for the the kopo designation and I'm trying to see yes we can see right here that they are correct TX Wheels I don't know if you can convey that on camera but uh the actual wheel for this car is correct those wheels are about fifteen hundred dollars two thousand dollars for the set very very clean white vinyl top you don't really see the white that clean very often but this is red with a four speed in it and it does have the the deluxe interior you just don't see red steering wheels like that very often it also has the white pinstripe that goes down down the side here but most notably about this car it does have the cow hood on it now Copo cars did come with the cowl hoods we can see that it has the 427 down in here now remember you could get a Copo car in x44 or X11 trim and this one is an X11 no d80 on there so it didn't come with any of the spoilers or anything like that for the kofo let's just take one more look at it here very rare color combination on this car very cool color combination not going to see a red cocoa car with a white top for quite some time so we're in the Survivor Series section of the show here and they have some really heavy hitter Camaros so for example this is a 1969 hugger orange white stripe 302 DZ car Z28 of course and I'm not sure how many miles it has on it here it says that it was awarded to Elevation or time cab absolute award it said this Z28 scored highest out of any performance solid lifter Chevrolet reviewed overall though I mean just look at the the general condition of this car it looks like a restored car but it but it's not I mean you can tell that it has kind of been weathered away here um if it was built in the Norwood plant they would actually put the designation for the color sometimes written on the firewall and you can kind of see that that car right back there says says orange or o-n on the firewall of this car as a Survivor car just gets you an overview of it again all Z28 they were four speeds from the factory kind of if you're looking for you know an orange Z28 this would be the Holy Grail in my opinion just unrestored everything correct we can see that the valve covers are not Chrome they're just a soft dough kind of a gray finish but the car behind me is an unrestored big block car will come back out this way really really cool stuff they have all of the documentation for this car we can see that on the odometer not going to be able to really get you that on camera from the actual car itself but it has 9 500 miles on it here it does have the broadcast sheet we can show them that a lot of times cars do not have broadcast sheets was built in Norwood of course it does have the xcode x66 on there for the big block now we can see it does have the 375 l-78 solid lifter engine in it so it would have had the one fuel line it does still have its uh smog equipment on this car this car just gets better the more you look at it to make it even more rare it is done in Code 10 black and they are the rarest color Camaros that you could possibly have you can see here that it has 10 for the upper color and 10 for the lower color so no vinyl top on this car and then it also has the um it should be 7-Eleven yeah 711 black interior so very very very rare Camaro you do not see black very often this also has the the red hockey stripe that comes down the side it is just probably one of the nicest unrestored big block black Camaros in the country you can see here it does have a tire sticker on the inside of the door I can tell you that it's not a late built car just by the way that the door is um it would have had a certification sticker in here if it was uh one of the last Camaros produced it is a it is a four-speed car get a picture of the odometer in there has the 9 500 miles on it it just presents itself very very very well it is an x66 car so it didn't have the Chrome on the side here I'm not sure if the gills were actually added or if that's something for the black cars we'd have to talk to someone about that overall very very nice car no defogger option no radio or anything in this car yeah you can see that if it would have had a radio it would have been on the down there but you can see it has been deleted actually from the car probably because it was just a a race car you know that's probably why it only has 9 500 miles on it and something that's actually cool about this car is it does have the blacked out tail pan you can see here um that it's like a non-gloss I know some people it's kind of a satin finish actually now that I'm taking a look at it but it is a black car with the blacked out tail pan something that I've actually never seen for myself and see what else we can learn from this car it does look like he has the original uh filters maybe that came with the car or that were taken off the car maybe it's never had the oil changed at 9 000 miles I'm not a 100 sure myself but we have an unrestored 1969 Cortez silver car and this one does have the Endura bumper here on the front and what's cool about a Cortez silver car is the code for Cortez silver is 69 so if you uh have a problem remembering what color is which remember that's code 10 if you want to remember the rarest colors this is Code 10 for the color black and then this is code 69 for the Cortez silver you can kind of poke in there and see it says 69 right here for the upper and then of course it has a B for the for the black vinyl top so really really really cool stuff this one does have a blue interior in it really unique I don't really see silver cars with the blue interior in it very often kind of something that's a little bit different and on uh on the the tag here we can see it was costed four thousand dollars four thousand and three dollars right here um brand new the c28 cost we can see that uh code 69 69 Cortez silver dark blue vinyl interior uh posi tracks 373 uh gears in the back so the actual standard gear in the 69 Camaro Z28 was the 373 gear however it was not actually posi traction you had to actually order that um specifically and we can see that it does say positing here on the actual window sticker itself this car originally was sold in Akron Ohio but very very cool Barn fine as you would call it 1969 Cortez silver uh Z28 we'll take a look at it one more time so we have a really really special Camaro here for you guys and if you guys know anything about Camaros or racing in general you're familiar with Jenkins competition and this car belonged to grumpy Jenkins and you can see that this is called Grumpy's toy so this is this is Dale he's actually the owner of this Camaro and I want to see if you can walk around the car while we while we talk about it and what can you tell us about this car the history of grumpy and in this car every video of grumpy that I've found on the internet there's pictures videos of him um pushing this car and racing it this is the car that you kind of take a look at this this is the car that you see this is the car where he's banging gears on the internet yes this is the car he's sitting in this is the car that won the very first Pro Stock race they ever had this is the first post talk Eliminator and Jenkins this car was the first under 10 second car production car ever built and doing the 944 and 144 miles an hour with nine fours and this is Grumpy's most successional Court race car and his favorite race car it looks like his favorite if you if you watch him drive it um and and how did you acquire the car where did the car come from is there any history that you could tell us on the car at all we found this car in Upstate New York in upstate now yeah and it was it was in bad shape it was in a building caught fire and of course the car was partially burnt but uh and what year was that do you remember 2002 2002 wow that must have been a great day for you and what motor is in here do you do you know 400 430 cubic inch porch big block Chevys okay and and he put the the ram air set up on there with the two carbs is that how it would have raced is this the way it exactly the carburetors were on this car in 1970 when he raced it okay okay these are the actual carburetors that were on it that's jenkins's handwriting inside them carburetors oh wow I got these off of Jenkins competition Jenkins Jenkins helped us put the car together oh they did yes okay well Dale I appreciate your time and uh thank you for for telling us about this car thank you so I'm here with Eric at Camaro Nationals 2023 and this is his Booth set up here behind us and he has a lot of uh really rare Camaro parts and I just kind of wanted to take the time and just kind of ask him a few things and maybe he can teach us some things here about Camaros that we did not know um so Eric my name is Parker hi Parker and uh what caught my eye is I see you have the YH the YH code wheels under here and they're 15x7 they would have been Z28 specific and maybe I'll just kind of let you take over from here about maybe stuff that you want to mention or talk about yeah they would have been used on the Z28 or like the Copo um Camaro or the Copo Chevelle if it got the double Copo designation yes totally understand that you want to show those stuff well we have an early 67 l-78 distributor that's a pretty rare yeah wow that's a 69 Z28 distributor okay um and how do you know it's a l-78 distributor I see it has the writing on here but I don't know anything by the number that number is yeah okay we have uh some old original oil filters this one here is a real pretty rare one it's got the embossing on it very hard to find and what would that have come on or that would have been like um when you got your first oil change at the dealership okay because the original oil filters were just black and white oh okay and we have a like a Yanko Yanko used these um packs in their bars you know day two and I was at a specific brand that's uh Stuart Warren or Stuart Warner okay that's the tire chain yep that's a liquid Tire chain yeah don't see that very often that was an option on Camaros where you actually would uh have uh something behind your rear wheel and it would kind of give you more traction right was that for like in the winter I think that's what they initially like sold it as but it was give the attraction regardless you know for a little bit of Street Racing I see you also you have some heads here you got some Wheels there I mean where would you want to go next these are 68 Z28 Wheels okay how do we know how do we know the difference they are uh DF code DF code DF code so for those at home it would have a DF um here off or are they different in a different location on us yeah nope that's that's it okay it's an early 70s e 28 wheel there and that is specific to 70 because of the slot where the um valve stem comes out gotcha okay um looks like you got a convertible back seat convertible back seat a video earlier when we learned that those are actually a little bit more narrower yep um and that was uh all three years yeah and it was also used in Deluxe interior because they had the armrest in the back so it's Deluxe or convertible okay I did not know that we have an original set of uh 69 dated tires there that were day one take off they got the polyglass logo here really really cool stuff are these uh Yep they're original Z28 spring yeah these are Z28 because there's four if you count the actual leaf springs one two three four uh you can see that that will be on a Z28 and then what can you tell us about these uh valves I call these my Cinco de Mayo heads okay they were both made uh May 5th of 1969. that would make from Cinco de Mayo yeah that's what I always call them and it says that they are 69 l-78 cocoa heads yeah and how do we how do we know that or how um this number here it's 391-9840 that designates high performance and it they have them stamped right on them high performance high performance and then the date is right here e which is May 5. which is the day and then nine which is the year okay and I see we got some uh I believe these would be one eight six cats these are one eight six sixty nine Z28 heads to show you that it says uh I'm trying to find where it says it says 186 right here [Applause] this one here would have been used in 1966 or 67 by this number here the 010 and then this one here is 68 or 69 designated by the 660 casting and these both would have been m20s with uh because of the two rings on there and actually this is an M21 it has one ring I thought it was a 20. start we're going to let them do the awards now but Eric thank you for your time you're welcome and we'll show your phone number one more time for the people down here and Eric's phone number is 610-587-6257 Eric again thank you for your time you're welcome a Copo 1969 Camaro um it does look like it's unrestored again it has the Survivor designation here at Camaro Nationals does have the the 427 l-72 down inside here and are you the original owner to this car not original oh you are the owner my name is Parker by the way I'm Jeff Jeff and what can you teach us about this car or what would you like to tell the audience on YouTube about this car it's unrestored Copo correct unrestored I bought it 1985. chased it for 11 years prior oh that's a long time original paint original interior original drivetrain gotcha um I got to work on it before I was allowed doing it a friend of mine that's really cool promised me when he sold it that it'd be mine and he made good on his promise I love it when that works out yes uh the motor has been rebuilt and the car was Street raced heavily when it was young a lot of miles on it no miles 34 000 miles okay so yeah it was street race yes um motor needed it was tired but I rebuilt an 86. and restore it underneath the engine compartment just made its stock again if you find one that's never been taken apart do you do the motor over again in your opinion or do you keep it the way it is if uh if the motor was not tired like this one was okay and I found one that was still untouched I'd leave it alone leave it alone yeah awesome awesome especially if it's an original paint condition gotcha and is there any special features that this car has on it or anything I didn't get the chance to to read the the window sticker here yeah we'll take a look you see that's got the software uh tinted glass on it and then the high performance unit right here that would have been the Copo designation for the 9561 is that correct okay awesome is an automatic automatic gotcha which is about one of 190 we believe about 190 automatics were built oh I did not know that okay approximately a thousand Iron Block cars or built and then it says special instrumentation is that the consoles attack engages pack engages gotcha okay awesome awesome well thank you for your time we'll take a look at the rest of the car kind of get an overview here remember this is a Copo card got the the dog dishes on it it's got the white oval tires on here but uh Rally Green car not you don't see how do you know how many uh Rally Green Copo cars they made not a lot I know that I do not but it is one of the rare colors yes black would be the rarest awesome awesome yeah definitely know that black is the rarest but I I've never seen another Rally Green Copo card so thank you for bringing it out no problem the car we have over here is a uh a frost green 396 l-78 375 horse car we can see it's got the the Endura bumper here in the front again black grills on the super sport cars and it does say that it has 17 000 original miles on it which is extremely low and it was uh never registered never titled one owner does have the factory paperwork has three ahra National drag racing world records and is the fear first pure stock car to run in the 12s and are you the the owner of this car and what what is your name thanks Jeff Jeff nice to meet you I have a mic right here so we can kind of talk pretty close we can kind of get you to go around the car and see the originality of this car and Jeff what what is the story behind this car this car belonged to a GM engineer oh it did and his family owned the car dealership okay and he bought it he ordered himself he went over to college and then went became an engineer at GM cool drag raced the car until the 80s he parked it until about 95 or so and a friend of his purchased the car and I bought it from that the first pure stock car to run in the 12s that's what got him the job at GM really that's a really interesting story do you mind lifting the hood for us here [Music] and that's kind of the way you want to find them right there I mean it just looks this gentleman saved everything oh he did I have all the parts that he removed yeah I mean it's just a really rare car to begin with you know being an l-78 and then on top of that having the race history with the GM executive that owned the car I mean it's definitely up there as far as Camaros go and I have five CDs that came with it uh in racing okay president of GM gave him an apprentice okay The Apprentice ended up being the GM the president of GM oh I didn't know that dude that is is the Father and Son team that were both presidents of GM and this car was kind of part of that whole group and it had been sitting since 95. I took a borescope and checked the fuel tank put three gallons of gas in it filled the fuel balls and turn the key oh it is a Chevrolet and it runs perfect awesome and I see it has the antenna in the back there it does have a rear antenna that's pretty cool it has a tilt wheel and speed control I think those are big options there I'm not familiar with that can we take is there a way to take a look at that sure I'm not sure how to change adjustment that's okay I will I don't know I don't know if you would adjust it everything being original you know so there is a knot under there adjusted the Senate 120 now I don't know so he's he's saying there's a knob underneath underneath here that can actually adjust um cruise control is that what that would have been there's a speed controller gotcha gotcha okay which I think is a pretty rare option I've been told I don't know again a whole lot about I myself am not familiar with that one either so that makes two of us on there if anyone knows they can leave a leave a comment below and maybe educate us all on on that Camaro option I understand from the letter that I have from him here sure it has 25 passenger GM oh wow including uh some stuff for torque converters and things okay and he made his own valve body cool so he's pretty talented obviously I've driven the car just around up and down the driveway it's go straight oh yeah def I'd definitely be proud to own this car I'm sure you are and I am thank you for your time yep thank you this is Jerry mcneesh if uh you're familiar with z28s this is the man that wrote the book and his word means a lot when it comes to Z28 and he has a very rare car behind us this is a 1968 Z28 and and Jerry what what can you tell us about this car this is a very special car because it's an early production Z28 the original owner ordered this was a professional Street racer so he ordered all of the performance options on this car Cal plenum air cleaner exhaust headers 488 gears and an M22 transmission him and his buddy his name was Tony they ordered brother and sister cars the same identical cars same colors same exactly the same I got full documentation with this car it was bought new at Reedman Motors in Langhorne Pennsylvania and I've owned the car now for 33 years I bought it from the original owner who sold it because he was building a business and he had kept it for 20 couple years and decided it was time to go on to the next caretaker so I bought this car in 1990 I've had it for 33 years and it's an actual when I bought the car it had 22 000 original miles on the car it now has 25 000 miles on it I put 3 000 miles on it in 33 years I enjoy riding driving it it's a rocket ship it's it's fast it's just a great car to go out and cruise around and as long as you're not on the highway because at 488 rearing ring and pinion yeah you're attacking like 3 600 RPMs at 60 miles Street gear no but uh I feel very privileged that I was able to find this car all those years ago and it's still very special to me we had a special display here at the Camaro Nationals this week and I was asked to be in the original Survivor category which is where I am I have a question for you I'm not familiar with the plenum air cleaner can you explain that to me maybe I've never really seen those before it's not something that you see on a lot of Camaros they're extremely rare they were only available in 67 and 68 okay and they actually deleted them from production in January of 68. so they were only available for part of the 1968 model year this was an early built car it was built in November of 67 and this gentleman ordered the factory custom headers which also came with the car oh let's see that down yeah and I have all of the records from General Motors they only produced 87 cars with these options out of the 7200 that were built so this car is extremely rare it's original paint original interior has a factory eight-track player in it which was the big deal back in the day has an AM radio thank you I had a question on another car about the a-track player so that answers my question okay and uh what I use it for now it's just an armrest when you're driving because they mounted it on the console yeah it sits higher it didn't have any place to uh to mount it but that's basically the uh you know the short version of the story uh I've owned this car now for a long time I still enjoy it as much as I did when I bought it back in 1990. I'm glad to hear that so one last question if they want to get your book where can they get your book at or right now out of my books uh this is actually the Third Edition I had this with the car because we featured the white car my car on the cover of the book uh I'm sold out of the fourth edition which uh I went out of stock this past summer I'm planning on doing a fifth edition next year but there's many up there are many updates I want to do to the the revised Edition I just don't want to reprint this gotcha in its current form because I have a lot of new information that I can add to the to the car well I know you're busy Jerry we'll let you get going but I wanted to thank you for your time and I also want to thank you for everything that you've done for Camaros okay I appreciate it and uh like I said it's been a love affair for me since I was 16 years old me as well thank you so much Jerry
