For what it's worth, a priest has some commentary on the video in his own video here (best viewed at 1.5x speed). Yes, it's as bad as you would imagine. Also, like the original debate video, comments are turned off.
Ugh, I remember watching an older debate (from 2003 I believe) with Mike and Dan Barker on the topic of the resurrection, and Mike just endlessly appealed to the bible, used the gospels to prove the gospels, and went on about the apostles and how they're reliable...all assertions and begging the question. I sat there thinking "so...is that meant to be convincing?"
It's such a bizarre debate topic to me, to debate whether or not the resurrection happened...it's a claim in an ancient book, where a god in human form magically came back to life after sacrificing himself to himself. Other debates I've seen about it, the theist always uses the same selection of "arguments", they base their premises on the supernatural and presuppose that the supernatural exists without defining it or demonstrating it, and then assume that the resurrection was likely because there are so many reports about it and with a god it's possible.
It's just massive leaps from the claim to an unfounded conclusion, assertions and presupposing the supernatural exists and that therefore it's possible. It's all garbage; anecdotal claims and hearsay accounts, baseless assumptions/claims, circular reasoning and appealing the the bible...which is the claim. You can't prove that a supernatural event happened and a god-man was raised from the dead. It's ludicrous.
Why does it take 2 and a half hours to say no?
WTF could they possibly be debating about?
