hey everybody and welcome back to death studio in this video we're going to look at how to create billboards before i get started huge thank you to everybody for subscribing and hitting that notification icon and of course an even bigger thank you to my members and patrons your names as always we'll be running across the bottom of the screen at the end of the video so jumping right into this them got a model here pose interesting kind of weird thing with their feet if i'm being honest so i'm just gonna quickly going to go into my smart content and i'm going to apply a pose just going to check i'm just going to type in fit that's usually what these things sit under [Music] find the right one any old high heel pose usually does the job so if i just apply something i'm going to go with this one and not quite not quite sorry let's try a different one good enough for id there we go now the feet line up so what we're going to do is first things first we're going to bring our character up so that her feet actually rest on the surface and we're just gonna have a quick look at that to make sure that's more or less bang on okay happy with that happy day so i want this character to be in the background of one of my scenes but i don't want her to be a full character because she's going to be fairly minor detail in the background of a scene so there's no reason to have her even the scene with the other characters because it's going to use a lot of geometry memory a lot of textured memory potentially will cause my render to fall back to cpu which is no good to anyone so what i need to do is fix that what i've got characters in the scene i'm going to create a camera by clicking on this camera icon here just going to leave all those default hit ok then in the x translator i'm going to type zero y translate i'm going to put to about 100 and then dead translate i'm going to set to about a thousand i'm going to drop the rotations all to zero like that and then i'm going to actually change my view into the camera like so selecting the camera mode here i'm going to change the focal length so that my character is fully in the scene and then if i i can just zoom in like that and then i can actually go there and i can drop that down a little further there we go now she's centered in the frame now what i'm going to do in my render settings i'm actually going to change in the general tab i'm going to change my dimension preset to one by one and i'm going to set my pixel size to about 1000 pixels each so it's not going to be a huge image and the reason for that is that it's not going to be a major feature in our scene now i need to do is i'm going to switch to nvidia ira mode give that a second to have a bit of a thing and also in my render settings what i'm going to do is i'm going to make sure that draw ground is set to off perfect so what we've got now is a very basic character no background rendering anything like that she's just going to be a background character in my scene as you can see edges look a bit rough because the pixel density is very low so what i'm going to do is i'm simply going to render this image out and just let it do its thing it's not going to take very long and now that that renders done i've just saved it as a png file remember to save it as a png file otherwise you will not be able to do this it will look weird so now we're going to switch into texture shaded mode like so i'm actually going to leave this character in the scene just fonzie so i'm going to just undo what i just did and switch them to perspective view mode perfect now what i'm going to do is in my scene i am going to create a new primitive i'm going to have as a plane i'm going to make it 1.9 meters in size one division i can hear accept now i'm going to select our square i'm going to rotate it minus 90 degrees in the x plane and then i'm going to set it we know it's 1 meter 90 so we have to increase its position by 100 so let's say 90 well also 190 divided by 2 50 plus 45 is 95. there we go bang on perfect now we can change our y level there perfect now what we're going to do is we're going to actually change to our surfaces tab like so and in all of this we're going to expand it all on where it says base we're going to change the base color and we're going to browse to the folder where it's saved so i'm just going to double click on that there we go and as you can see it's currently upside down so we're just going to go back to our preferences and we're going to change that minus 90 to a plus 90. so now that we've got our plane with our image on it well you can see the problem is that there is a plane in the background and it's grey so we're going to fix that now by using photoshop perfect all i'm going to do is i'm going to hit ctrl and i'm going to click on that and now i'm going to create a new layer and i'm going to fill that layer with the color white so we'll go into our paint bucket tool go to white boom create that now we can go into another layer just create background light like this we're going to create a black layer and we're going to deselect our mask like so go to our paint bucket tool fill in the background behind it and then we're just going to save this as any old jpeg now back in desk studio what we're going to do is go to our cutout opacity and we're going to hit browse and we're going to select our new file like that and bish bash bosch we have got a transparent ish character she's going to be in the background so the white outline isn't necessarily going to be an issue but if you were that bothered by it you could simply adjust that to your liking in photoshop so now if we jump into our perspective view mode here we can just nvidia i remove that as you can see she's just a shape in the background doing exactly what he wanted to do it's a background character and that ladies and gents is how you create a really basic billboard thanks very much for watching that guys i hope you found that useful let me know i think in the comments below and i will see you in the next one but until then you take damn good care of yourselves all right bye-bye you
