Day of Amazon Software Developer

all right it's been a while since I recorded anything outside of the studio but today it's fantastic weather and I wanted to share that with you guys so today I want to talk to you about day of software developer of course you need to get there but what's your routine Hey so yeah London that's it dr. London one of the biggest cities in the Europe so this take your health and I'll get to that in a moment but first let's get to work so this thing behind me here it's called canary wharf and it's considered watch new city center new city yeah I guess that's the night so I have to cross all the way through here dinner into the tunnel and from there I get on the overground line to the city center to the shortage where a mountainous [Music] [Music] [Music] my morning routine [Music] all right welcome at my desk so nobody's here yeah that's what almost 8:00 nobody's here at this hour so I can start my day make some coffee and we are starting off by looking at our emails wasn't this international company so I get a lot of emails that are coming in from Seattle or Japan or other place they're part of the world and they're coming overnight basically so every day every morning I get through a long list of things that happened new announcements new information all the system alerts the informations about the metrics and everything else this is my morning routine and after that I'll look at my calendar so I'll find out what kind of meetings do I have today and we have box of time schedule just for coding just for actual work and we have days that are scheduled for the meetings so today a meeting a day most of the day will be spent in our effects rooms our conference rooms calling each other and meeting talking about the above the work about the project yeah one of the morning things that I do every day is an answer Amazon connections so most of the tech companies tried to do a survey Oh every year every year survey just to find out like what is the overall status of the company try to figure out what things could be done better what is what needs an upgrade what is okay what to keep and so on so forth so instead of doing that every year a mountain has this daily serving that has one question and you just answer with a simple click and today I have a question do I find my work interesting of course my work is very interesting I strongly angry another thing that I do every day is going over CR switch our code reviews basically it's a commit a good comment that somebody submitted and they are sent for review in our team just to figure out if there are any mistakes and errors that happen in the code so in prime media fences no single line of code gets put into the repository without approval appear so everything is going under very thorough very thorough reviews just to make sure everything is correct so my first TR is a change that was submitted by an intern that I am mentor of and I'm going to quickly take a look what are the changes an approve right so before everything starts and everybody comes to work I have a little bit of time to myself so I'm just gonna go ahead and do some coding before all the meetings start so I'll see you in a bit [Music] I'm preparing to showcase our product to customers and stakeholders these are the people who will be affected by our app [Music] good morning Angie mm-hmm I think so are you in a one is fine so you want to do Devon and you have Peter now online so it should be fine demo went well now we are discussing feedback and plan next steps normally we would have a standard meeting in which we would update each other about the progress of the work but today yeah today is different [Music] you look like like the hacker in those movies that like oh happy because you might hiding in front of the screen I don't know what I'm waiting for you guys in place and all the most spicy work I don't know if you should order very spicy wings what about lunch where are we going for lunch I'm not going for lunch really fun Yuka where are we going for lunch there you guys get the burgers oh yes sorry one day [Laughter] that's what you need you show that we are heading out for lunch sometimes we'll go and sit in a restaurant but most often we go to nearby Spitalfields market and buy food to go we are then meeting in the office and eating together and the continued after lunch is usually more coding we don't have strict working hours in terms of starting and finishing your day some people come and stay really late others like me start the day early and leave early and that's it it's your day much different tell me about it in a comment and I will see you in the next one Cheers [Music] so this is the first thing you you
