[Music] [Music] yeah this is so hard it's [Music] Friday I braided my hair last night into a one braid cuz I went to the gym and then I just left it I'm going to take it out and it's going to be like crazy I wanted to create this video to show you guys what it's like being a PhD student because the videos that I've created more of like productive Vlog basically full day of experiments back to back meetings teaching stuff and it's a crazy day today and I wanted to show you guys what it's actually like being a PE by taking you along today so I'm hoping that you guys are excited as I am let's get our day started today's going to be a good day it's good to start your day off with water instead of coffee so I try to at least drink some water in the morning it's just nice to like wake up a little bit earlier and like sit enjoy the morning before I start my crazy day I feel like that's a tip especially when you start grad school is that like everything you do and every day will feel super busy or you'll have days where it'll be great but most of the time you're busy with a whole bunch of different responsibilities so you know it's always nice to take time for yourself in the morning Josh is asleep still which is why I have one light on and not two so if it's hard to see me sorry today I have a very important experiment to do like a a full day worth of an experiment to do that starts early in the morning because of timing of my meetings and so I have to start earlier to sample at a certain time and then I go to another meeting and so everything has to be done within only that time period from my first meeting to my last meeting and the first meeting is just basically a teaching assistant training training sessions are implemented for us as T to make sure we know our responsibilities and like what we're supposed to be doing the next lab to improve and enhance undergraduate teaching and learning environment better lighting students have a midterm today so as a TA I need to be there to eventually an exam and it's just a crazy day so a lot of teaching responsibilities today so today is just crazy and I wanted to bring you guys along so you guys get to see we're going to get going soon I you see that guys and we're going to grab coffee from Star Starbucks today usually make coffee at home but just for the purpose of today and because I it's a Friday go get Starbucks before we actually head out and start our commute to school okay I'll see you guys in a bit after I'm dressed and ready for the morning I'm wearing this green shirt that I got from Old Navy and it's just a simple t-shirt it's probably cold SI I'll probably throw a sweater or something over top and then I'm just wearing jeans I'll show you my outfit after this a flower like this Little Flower [Music] piece my current read I'm going to bring this book because I usually grab like a book for my little pile of like books I'm going to start reading sooner or am reading on my TTC ride or if I'm really really busy I will then read a paper on my iPad but sometimes like I don't like taking my iPad out so I'll just pick something up okay F love through sweater over top the shirt jeans socks and then never never going we're running behind but let's [Music] go [Music] hey guys so I'm in the car we are kind of running behind we're going to grab a coffee quick but it's not too bad cuz Fridays thankfully traffic isn't as bad as like Monday through Thursday I'm just going to have to push my experiment like an extra 10 15 or even 30 minutes which is totally fine I think I planned for this in case I didn't wake up early so good morning everyone finally wake now gas now we're getting our [Music] [Music] Starbucks always need coffee I just arrived to school I'm about to get everything set up I'm actually perfectly on time let get this experiment started so I'm not like running behind anything which is really good [Music] he [Music] pap [Music] I'm about to head to the TA training now it's 9:21 so I'm going to go and take you guys [Music] along [Music] hey guys so I am just doing some computer work that I had to finish that I've been trying to finish this entire week it's just a simple application I've been doing besides that I finished my lunch already I didn't film that I wanted to update you guys it's been a little bit of a hectic morning halfway through my day now because it's 12: probably won't be done until like 5: because I have to meet with my supervisor later today but yeah just want to update you guys what I'm [Music] doing [Music] [Applause] I'm heading home now I'm actually going to go find Josh cuz he's here with me today but I am heading home now it's 5:00 finally done okay guys I just finally got home and we have Miss Luna here it's 7:20 Josh and I actually ended up stopping at the mall because we well I we I I wanted to grab some things from Lulu Lemon we're going to start running soon right now it's a bit cold outside and I hate running when it's like windy and it hurts my ears so lul lemon had or has these headbands that I really wanted to get and so I got this rib nulu twist front headband and it's like a band and so it's this like white cream color and it just goes like get it tie my hair up in a ponytail goes on my head and covers my ears which is awesome and I also got the fast andree fleece run ear warmer so it's a thinner band compared to this one here so I got those two things they also had really cute like summer thinner band I sweat every time I run or work out and I sweat profusely so I feel like the headbands of course if I wear them I'll just wash them after but I feel like having the headband on top of my head will like catch the sweat so it doesn't go into my eye when I'm running especially when I'm going to start running longer distances the last thing that I got which I needed because I had my UFT keychain but miss Luna over here she knows what she did Luna what' you do she ripped it spit it in half finally I decided to pick up Blue Lemon keychain and it's in this whitish grayish greenish I don't even know this color white gray color and this is the the never lost keychain word Mark so those are three things I got from Lululemon and I just wanted to do a quick haul now is the time to get ready and as you guys know we got to go to the gym so today is a cardio day specifically a speed day we're incorporating cardio since we're going to be running a marathon soon or half marathon soon so part one of training is basically getting our speed up to par kind of want to update you guys since this video is about what it's like being a PhD student as you guys saw I was super super busy today a lot of work to do with that being said usually this is how busy it is I get tired by the end of the day I had a question in a previous YouTube video about how I maintain being productive going to the gym and all that I I really it's hard like I think things I look forward to are like weekends so getting to sleep in in the morning downtime at night time like just sitting down and reading those things I look forward to because because they really really help like keep me basically sane sane throughout the week and if I feel like a workout is way too hard or I don't want to workout that day I definitely recommend doing like a less intense workout even going to the gym for 45 minutes and doing maybe a Ab cardio session that is like really light or lifting lighter weights you don't always have to push yourself 100% at the gym I do try to push myself 100% but sometimes you just can't and so I would recommend you know taking it easier that day but typically as I said grad school is really hard um I think you'll always like especially doing the degree that I'm doing it is hard I just really just try to push through every day there are days when I don't feel great like tips and tricks is like being surrounded by people you love you know doing things that you enjoy so having your self-care moments and for us it is the gym and for us it is for example spending time at night time reading a book relaxing winding down like those are the most moments that I really try to implement to prepare myself for the next day and that really keeps me going especially doing grad school I hope you guys enjoyed like seeing how my day is I don't think I've ever filmed this much
