[Music] hey guys and welcome to today's video today i'm going to be doing a little bit of a day in the life a little bit of a barn vlog it's been so long since i've done this um it's been mostly show vlogs recently but i thought i'd switch it up a little bit so today the plan is to jump both the boys cal and ali cal will be jumping first so my day always just starts heading down cal lives in at night he stays unstable and he's the only one that stays in because we started keeping him in at night to try and make him more energetic when i was riding him which did really work because he's not grazing all the time he's not so fat so he always has hay uh left over and stable in the morning so i never really have to hear him in the morning i give him loads at night i think he's grazing all day and he way prefers grass than hey so he doesn't bother eating all the hay um so yeah i'll head down now just check on him and then i will set up some jumps for us to jump then i will ride him and then he'll go out in the field and i'll ride dally then so yeah just gonna head down now hi mr cal good morning how are you my lovely have a good sleep good boy let's see yeah there's all the hay he just tramples around his table and doesn't eat huh you're a good boy look at these chickens this is my new grand prix prospect oh dear okay we're gonna go set up some jumps and then i'll get them tacked up okay so today i have set up this grid this is a grid that i very often do with the horses it just is really good for keeping them sharp and getting them making a nice shape this weekend carl is going to be entering a competition in which i will be doing the jump off and i'm hoping to be a little bit competitive so i set up this oxford here and this vertical to practice some jump off turns some roll backs tight roll backs and also slicing them so i'm i'll be jumping like diagonally across and diagonally across so that is the plan for the day so i picked out his feet and i brought him around to the side of the yard there's nothing in that bucket he's just licking it and we're gonna um tack him up oh my god excuse stay at this place i'm gonna tack them up groom them well groom them then tack them off and then we'll get going i won't bother videoing because you've seen me check up a million times guys so here is cal all ready to go got his boots on he excited cal carl loves jumping guys so he is very excited good boy [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] boing boing boing boing boing boing [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] thank god rick andre oh [Music] so ah [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] um [Music] the great little horse [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hmm okay question is why does our horse do this why does he do this does he think he's a dog [Music] is he sniffing out of truffles [Applause] [Music] okay holly what are you going to focus on number one um i'm going to do sitting draw in so i don't get ahead of the movement stay sitting back and i'm gonna think about keeping my legs forward and sitting out quickly on landing cool that's four things okay so if i can handle four things eyes up sitting on track coming in keeping your legs forward and smiling [Laughter] this is fun oh my god he's fresh is he fresh [Music] oh [Music] [Music] my things oh oh so now what are you going to do now honey i well he was super super fresh during that grid but i've been trying to keep my leg forward and looking up and i think i've been succeeding generally so now we're going to do these two single fences and i'm going to jump them kind of like a turn back and then at an angle to practice my jump off turns that's very good squeeze and finally smile it's supposed to be fun [Music] okay fantastic that was excellent that was good that was real oh he'd be ground don't worry just if you're here oh if you'd if you hear me hit him holly herding chickens all those years to be vet she ends up being a chicken herder bye box very good excellent very good that was the best time you did they were because i paid attention that time how are you she's happy with your legs you enjoying yourself i quite like these jump pop turns they're very fun great crack i'm you're spinning around so much i'm getting dizzy good yep you happy okay happy happy happy veg it's called equine dancing [Laughter] himself he's no credit to you he's training himself honestly well done holly good boy thank you so now cal is all done and he loves getting his scratches when he's done don't you love being scratched underneath the nose pants your favorite thing in the world good boy um so cal was absolutely super did all our jump off turns we've literally never done them before um so i thought the first time to do jump off turns poppy wouldn't be at the show we should practice them so we'd practice them and then we finished with the grid at the end just to make sure that he was staying jumping careful and you know when you're doing jump off turns and galloping and stuff you're not really improving their technique but you're teaching them kind of a different skill so that's why i just wanted to make sure that he was still remembered how to jump like a good boy um before we head to the show so the next time we jump we'll be on friday this vlog is actually going to come out after the show vlog so you'll already know how we got on but this is yeah i just need a video for next week so i thought i'd film today um because today i'm gonna be uploading my big announcement video and so yeah i'm gonna upload that instead of this vlog so that's the that's the thought process behind it you thought i didn't you know think about my upload schedule i do i do i'm a proper youtuber look at him he's so cute okay so i'm gonna untuck him now do his i'm gonna show you our my new massage gun which has been like a godsend and put some ice boots on him because he works pretty hard those little legs okay let's go so we got a little hose and now he has his ice boots on come here come here oh oh he's so wild and crazy okay now we're gonna give him a little massage come on kyle you'll get loads of grass later so this is my gorgeous centaurus oh hey there santorus pulse massage gun let me show you now here it is so centaurus very kindly sent me this and so these are all the different heads you can use to massage them this is the one i use um for the horses so this is actually for humans but can be used for horses as well so i've been using it on myself and let me tell you guys it's really nice it feels so good i've started working out and right use the term very loosely um good work um so i just like yeah massage this wherever i'm sore and i get really sore hips anyway and it just feels so good so yeah i've also been using it with the horses i use it every time they have like a bit of a hard workout because like i'm sure you guys know yourself if i like well i know i went running like really far right now and then tomorrow i will be in bits like i'll be so sore it's called dom's delayed onset why are you licking me um and horses get it too so using this will increase blood flow loosens out all those tight muscles and it makes them feel really really good even the day after working out really hard so that's kind of the main reason i've been using it cal gets quite sore on one side of his back and like across the top of his hindquarters so that's the areas i target the most and with this so yeah if you want to get one they gave me a discount code it's holly l10 for 10 off um and yeah i i'm loving it i'm loving it to be honest and my parents love it too i used on my mom's shoulders and she like nearly cried it was so nice stop he's so bored and so yeah when i go to australia as you will know by now um i'm gonna leave it for my parents because they want to use it um that's how nice it is so yeah that's what i'm gonna use now i'll show you how i use it and then um yeah the 20 minutes for the ice boot should be up by then and he'll go out in the field and i will ride darli you ready he doesn't care so i just use it in all the muscular areas you shouldn't use it over any sort of bony areas and just over soft muscle and then just work it out for a few minutes on each area and you see he starts licking and chewing straight away because he loves it good boy sometimes he tries to groom me back good boy that's nice right yeah very nice good boy see you later so lauren very rudely interrupted me um by calling me and now we've been chatting for ages and daddy's just been sitting in the in the stable but anyway i have dalian he is four years old at the weekend he's going to jump the 90 and the meter um and yeah we're going to do that same grid and then just some single fences we're not going to be doing jump off turns he is only a baby i think that could just blow his mind so yeah just some normal jumps working on his technique working on my technique i'm very proud guys i think my leg was pretty good for most of those jumps so fingers crossed i can keep this up for the show i'm just gonna keep doing no stirrup work and really focusing on squeezing my leg and keeping it in place so yeah okay now it's time to tack up and get on are you ready mr dally he's like top model he just stands there and pricks his ears looking all pretty so i still have the grid set out and i just put the jumps down a little bit for a little baby not right [Applause] oh so [Music] [Applause] oh who's this yeah a spectator holly's gotten a special trainer for tally i think through the old look so he's not happy your arms are folded let's see he's obviously not paying attention that's the chef they keep for iceland so hmm [Music] so uh [Applause] do i want a little smaller how do you like it that worked oh yeah that's right so i am just finished with cat daly i'm so bad at her names oh man i'm like stiff these horses are throwing me around the place jumping um yeah the grid we had to do quite a few times he just didn't feel like he was really rocking back on his hind legs he wasn't really giving it much effort i suppose so then i one time i went and i gave him a little kick and take off the second part and he really went oh god okay okay okay and then after that he was like really like uh he a lot and more energy at the base even without me you know using much leg he was creating his own energy and that really helped his jump so i feel like he just needs that little bit of a little bit of a leg and a take off just to help him because you know he is a big boy and it's hard to generate energy when you're 17-2 and you're only four years old you know he's only a baby and he's still weak as well so well he's not that weak but he's a obviously not like full strength he wouldn't be as strong as cal or anything like that so um yeah then we jumped the oxer and oh wow he um yeah the grid worked let's just say he was super careful uh making a great shape i tried so hard to keep sitting up and keep my leg for it um i haven't really watched the videos back yet but i'm hoping i somewhat managed because usually when he jumps big like that uh my leg goes flying back so even if it's just slightly better that's an improvement and i'm happy so yeah we jumped that a few times he drifts to the right after the fence so i put a pole there to stop him doing that and that worked and then we jumped it the other way and it went back to this uh vertical and oh boy that was a tight turn on a big big four-year-old so um i did a little circle because i didn't want to just rush him to it and then i came around again and with a bit of a better line and he jumped really good and then i finished doing the grid once more so that was the day it was quite a bit of jumping i have to admit um i don't usually like to jump him so much but i just felt like um he just needed to a few ghosts to learn and really realize what he needed to do so that's what we did and now he is all set for his class on friday yeah he's jumping the 19th meter on friday and just to meet her on saturday so he's only jumping three classes and then that will be his last show of the year until he comes back next year as a five-year-old and i was just saying to lauren like um he's gonna come back so differently next year you know like he's a little bit growing to do and he's going to fill out he's going to be so much stronger you know sometimes um well not sometimes almost every time a good big break is so good for the young horses they just come back so much better they really like seem to think about everything they learned and like process it and yeah they always they always seem to come back better than ever like even better than they went on the break so it's yeah i'm excited to ride them next year i shouldn't be getting ahead of myself should i excited to ride you next year i'm excited to ride you on friday and so yeah okay i'm gonna stick him in ice boots bit of a massage stretchers and then he goes back out into the field he likes the sound of that boy oh sorry i dropped it i dropped it good boy where did it go and the other side good boy over here he doesn't like stretching to the side as much don't eat the grass come on good boy very good wow what an angle sorry guys for that angle bit of a close-up you're so bold attached to a thorn come on mate let's go oh good boy so clever it's hard to do with one hand all right see you later bye wait you want to come back in you silly see you dolly look at that red from my helmet um so now i'm going to head back up to the house get some lunch i got i need to film my video telling you that i'm going to australia um yeah i'm gonna film that because i need to upload it today so prepared um and yeah then i'll catch up with you in the evening and we will do some looking out feeding i need to pull some ragwort just like some yard stuff i'll show you what we do in the evening um yeah so i'll see you then would it even be a holly grazing away happy out he was lying down earlier and eating the grass at the same time breakfast in bed so yeah he's a happy boy so get him in now and took him took him in for the night i also lock up the chickens for the night they get some food filling them up some fresh water and they're all happy happy chickens and ducks so just came in and the chickens left a little present for cal there's some mice in here i know it so i don't put my hands in ah there they are freaking mice guys i hate them oh this is so bad i'm the worst bet ever guys i'm so afraid okay success i got them so we got a load of hay here we've got his feed and his bucket ready all nice and clean and i'm gonna go get him so i'm going to get carl now i'm going to see if he's going to walk into this table on his own he's gonna open the gates he knows he gets feed he knows where the feed is it's in the bucket so we're gonna see how smart my horse is see if he'll going on his own hello mr mom what a good boy let me just open this you excited for some food yum yum yum i love my dinner okay let's go nice he's cleverly smart so far see if he'll go past me now and walk straight in yeah that's the right direction oh no
