[Music] my name is Brandon Lee I'm a professional boxer fighting a super lightweight I kindly have a record of 18 wins 16 of those wins are coming by way of knockout I'm undefeated in their losses originally from Yuba City California large minutes north of Sacramento and I'm now living in the Coachella Valley [Music] this is this is the first of all I've ever won it's my brother and I this was the first national hi everyone the junior I think like 2011 national junior Golden Gloves my first fight was not eight years old my amateur record I had about close to two hundred fights 195 wins five losses roughly this is my sitting coach my brother and I at the rocky statue in Philly boots and I so this was like my fourth fight and this was my sixteenth fight so over the years we've we've we've grown a lot um Bob go get some breakfast and I got got to go as far later on you got the gym oh you get again your morning miles and huh hey you remember this we like the rush hour Lee and kata if you take away all his boxing skills you're still a great person so that's why I would get really stood with them all right all right I hate you all right you too but so one thing that the ordinary person wouldn't understand as a professional boxer it's cutting weight so I checked my weight party every day for three weeks just to maintain go up or lower so let's say if I'm making for this fight I'm making 143 so I would drop down to 150 maybe I'll go up 150 to go back down to 150 and generally in the morning I did a big mill whatever I want but as the day goes on i watch what I eat I eat less and less it's probably harder than the fight harder than training cutting away is just something that they you don't want to do so right now about pick up today's shoe these are so these were my first Jordans there a day I got these at a fight in North Carolina and my third a third fight I think then my last fight I got these at the mall we went to like a town or like I guess they don't really like stress or something because these are still on the on the wrecks I like I got to get those tickle bi go shopping like the day of the fight in the morning I've tried go your breakfast I go to the mall and then whatever I see I'll get it for new pair of shoes then attend I'm a rocket event something simple still super culture will go we got some chocolate chip pancakes and hash browns actually ketchup Eggs Benedict we sure like you weeks away so I can show you whatever I want I want to get like a week and a half is where I started eating like oatmeal for breakfast oh no banana and blackberries I'm currently getting searches degree in criminal justice I go to school two days a week but I have four classes at two online the next step is go and get my bachelor's degree that's like something unheard of there's really no fighters I go to school and bucks there's so many athletes out there they have they have a gift they're talented and they just stick on that they don't really have a plan B but like what happens if you get in a car accident or what happen to break your hand you break your leg or whatever you can no longer play that sport that sport and what he gonna do then since my parents didn't go to college that's one goal that I want to do for them and place it's just the way I was raised they always said that knowledge is power so ever since I was young kid I always took my education seriously so whenever my mom's had the fight she likes to watch but the same time she doesn't like to watch like she's watching like like this like the and then she just like she screams throw a jab throw a jab put your hands high but you guys I can never hear I don't hear I don't hear anyone besides my father so it's crazy how you go like 20 everyone know to show box the new generation six consecutive first round knockout when he punches he punches to hurt and 2019 I made my TV debut I learned a lot the main thing is don't hit the NAS don't let it all out just because you heard their back the first time I heard the guy felt like three three times and every time I hit the NAS hit the nos hit the nos I wasted so much energy and that I didn't knock them out that round but I came back the second round and I don't with the one-two [Applause] knock up we have so much yeah so I just need to stay strong mentally and I got to do it so my father he's inspiration on me I mean he's my mentor my teacher my professor he taught me how to fight he taught me how to throw my first punch my father gave me a lot of wise words but I feel like the main thing that stuck with me is don't forget where you come from especially for him because coming from Korea coming from nothing you always got to look back and say don't forget you come from you have this beat by the time meter on you should be right there like that and then nobody at home you know I'm I'm I'm his number one fan but I am also his worst critic I need more hemmelman okay or him Oh miss day long I was aspiring that's probably my favorite thing to do in the gym mine is different because you never know what you're gonna get what punch he's gonna throw he could throw a jacket or right hand you don't know what's coming so expect the unexpected today we're gonna focus on defense good timing defense you know counters yeah that's pretty much all we're gonna work on today training here in California is beautiful especially in Southern California it's a capital boxing there's so many fighters here so many different styles you got fighters coming from Russia Uzbekistan Mexico China everywhere so I'm sparring with the best of the best I'm sparring with the Olympians world champion former world champions so I'm getting the best work here I remember going to the amateur shows and it'll be like a swap meet like first we weigh in we write our little name on this little paper we put on this board and then there's a bunch of coaches bunch of parents a bunch of fighters like all right you knew they'd fight you you you fight and they'd always want to fight me oh no why maybe because I like Chinese so they they look down upon me I don't know what but eventually they found out that was half Mexican my father's Korean and my mother's Mexican I believe that I have a heart of Mexican make sense I mean we get it Chavez they come to fight the diamond ring and the brain of a gin the stereotype that a tall Asians are smart I'm a quick thinker I cannot think any opponent we have to go to war go to work beat him what is own game for this camp we're looking at a whole lot of speed a whole lot of Defense a whole lot of conditioning we're gonna beat my opponent down in every way we're gonna out boxing we're gonna I'll punch them I don't think I'm hurting I'm planning to hurt you don't fight to knock you up fighting to get that out of there my name pay by minute my name paid by the hour I'm gonna do whatever I can to win I got it to do boxing from my older brother I was young kid I want to be just like my older brother he accomplished a lot you know really proud he's done things that none of us thought that you know imagine first time I ever sparred my brother I was young I was probably eight years old because he was so fighting at the time I work on my defense with him he'll throw punches at me I got older I got bigger and then he stopped boxing I think that's 16 he kind of boxer didn't work because medical reasons you got hit by a quad he has a heart problem we would have little disputes at the house and then with my trials go to gym let's go to the gym so we're throwing the gloves and we'll handle it right then the ring well I'm my older brother I still beat his ass you know so something that keeps me motivated sparked my family living the dream for my brother and living the dream for my uncle living the dream for my grandfather I'm just this little kid from from you city no grown man headlined my first time with show bucks sorry cooking was really young every Sunday my dad would make me mop the floor and then he'll teach me like how to make breakfast for myself like eggs to be honest it kinda gives me like a rush cause you have to like hurry up and cook that the same time got a hurt but cook that so I was like kind of like speeding because he may be like oh so it's my mom right okay we step it up want to make my parents little food would be a grab what we're uh where'd you learn that word from so this is just give this very good some flavor with that milk there you got it chicken parmesan mashed potatoes and asparagus so I can't eat so I made my girlfriend my girlfriend my plate he's a good kid boys husband been very very lucky two days ago I opened up my email and I found out that I got accepted to one of my school one of the schools I applied to Cal State San Marino so I'm gonna be attending there this fall so I'm about to print this paper out and surprise my mom with it my father always loved boxing I had two brothers there were amateur boxers this is one of my favorite photos of him his father he's about eight years old here so he's my brother working out my father and me pretending to work out it's a very young age I was inspiring my brother you know a lot of kids when they start fighting they just slap and they just drove them but he would actually pick his shots he won his first fight just using his left hand 14 times National Champion some tournaments I won five times four times you know Golden Glove champion time to add to title so just right here the 2015 junior open worlds this is how I got my spot on the team USA and my mom I want here let me go guys she don't want me to miss school for me you know from graduate to graduate oh that was kind of more important we've met a lot of interesting people along the way we're just do Richard still 1lc yeah yeah but I'm still working on his scrapbook ideas what I think there's what is that say this is congratulations Brandon our throats off your admission to the criminal justice criminal justice program at Cal State San Marino Oh welcome you too bad oh you got accepted I'm so proud of you okay we cut [Music] hi tank right now so as a parent the first thing that I wanted to you know teach our kids is how to survive and that's what I did you know since there were little kids I gave him a bucket soap and water and a towel and them up the whole floor and a baseboard you know they start the laundry have a strong working yeah and cook only thing I want them to be to be better than me you got sign and turned professional he was 17 years old and those three years when will quit well quit so two more years I don't think it'll hurt you know he's gonna be bigger stronger hit harder and so I know a way out that's right all the smoke no shortcuts it's gonna be a good fight I'm predicting probably like maybe second or third round we're gonna start walking him down middle of the first round and and hopefully you know we get that punch in junior one punch you know right now I want him to work hard like I did and when the boxing career is done then he could start his career that's the reason he's going to school talking more all the way there you go that's the power right there you can hear it a lot of people they do they hit the bags the next day they do strength training I don't do that you're there y'all what sir oh I do everything but only once you almost there there you go that's the best way or school way let's go I've been doing that since he was a little baby you know it's a new generation type of thing [Music] you almost there but you're not there yet the main thing that makes a good fighter is sub-discipline dedication I mean you got all the skill in the world you really not dedicate your not discipline it's a waste of talent my past fights I've learned a lot I've learned that can't be desperate you can't be anxious the knockout comes it comes you can't go out there and dump punches so you gotta go in there be smart so I'm super grateful to headline my first Showbox event I'm looking at this as an opportunity to showcase my skills all I need is opportunity and then I'm gonna take advantage of it you're gonna be watching something the diaper I hope to accomplish many things by part of the main thing is to win the World title and then be the backbone of business support my family my father I have much we've done so much I've been in this game over 80 years so it's all guys no break it's how I get thought what's up my name is Brandon Lee and you don't know what's coming
