33 year old Samantha bro Berg was on an all-girls cruise vacation when disaster struck it was 2 a.m. the ship was the Carnival Liberty sailing in the Gulf of Mexico samantha climbed this rail on the tenth floor deck suddenly she fell backwards and plunged into the water it was captured on the ship's thermal-imaging camera her body was never found now Inside Edition is learning more about the hours leading up to Samantha's death including the shocking revelation that another passenger was actually with her and didn't alert anyone about what happened he could have reported it as soon as he saw it it could have taken a whole different turn Sarah chairman was on the weekend girl's trip with Samantha and another friend we were together non-stop until very late in the evening when Amy and I got tired and we're ready to go to bed she wasn't ready and so I was like are you sure and she said yeah I'm good I'll be there when I'm ready to go to bed she never saw Samantha again we realize she had never made it back to the room panic really set in Sarah claims carnival staff didn't take her seriously when she first reported her friend missing eventually announcements were made in photos of Samantha handed out but it wasn't until they looked at surveillance footage that they realized she went overboard by the time carnival contacted the Coast Guard 15 hours had passed walking off of the boat and realizing three of us went on in her like two of us were getting hot it was it was you know a bit of a reality check back home in Arlington Texas Samantha's daughter Savannah Riley and Caylee still fight back tears remembering their mom two and a half years after the accident she was a great role model I could go to her for anything I feel like she was a great influence on me because she made me stronger person I just miss her a bunch and I wish I could see her again Samantha's husband Carl a well regarded horse trainer is now suing carnival claiming the ship excessively served alcoholic beverages to his wife despite one witness saying some I thought was so drunk she was nodding off to sleep she herself paid for 16 drinks and they had also given her a free drink or more other people were buying drinks the FBI investigation reveals that Samantha left the bar with a man and went to the tenth floor deck where he watched her fall off the ship he walked over to the railing and looked but could not see anything he had a beer then went to bed without telling anyone its sickened me to the core when I heard about it and I was absolutely mystified more than anything I just wanted answers just this month the federal judge ruled that Carnival was not responsible for Samantha's death her family says they may appeal and they are pushing for cruise companies to install security systems that would sound an alarm if someone goes overboard [Music] you [Music]
