Damaging Winds, Large Hail, Tornadoes Threaten Memorial Day Along East Coast

well more storms are expected to fire up fire up along the east coast today included in that major cities with major C uh remembrance Ceremonies for those that of course paid the ultimate price for our freedom in Washington DC in New York City as we honor and remember Memorial Day nearly 125 million people in the path of severe weather today let's show you what we have going on there's a couple of different Pockets that we want to focus in on of course you can see in parts of central Texas that red indicative of where we have that level two out of five on our severe weather thread from Dallas to just north of Houston and then more specifically you Zone in on parts of the southeast Mid-Atlantic and Northeast and all of that energy is Shifting toward the east coast of the United States bringing with it the threat for not only an isolated tornado but damaging winds and perhaps even some larger hail if you're joining us from New York City all five buroughs have your umbrellas ready and set to go DC around lunchtime today so noon 1 2:00 some of those storms with the daytime heating really getting activated and could pack a serious punch you look down toward the South and again even parts of Atlanta Georgia once again make in Georgia could be in line for seeing those heavy showers and strong to severe storms you look at how much rain we're anticipating and where you see that little Bullseye of yellow in the course of just a couple of hours right through about Tuesday we're anticipating between two to three inches of rain could we see some flash flood concerns absolutely I know that that's not quite centered over New York City itself but it really doesn't take a ton of rain in a concrete jungle to cause some flooding concern so heads up if you're visiting friends or family in NYC for that here's the culprits behind it a pretty powerful and potent cold front that's roaring toward the East and that cold front out ahead of it also morissa providing an unstable environment where there's just a little bit and just enough shear and just enough storm energy for some of those storms to become strong to severe through this afternoon [Music]
