Damaging storms sweep through Van Buren Co.

Thank you. Severe storm sweeping through West Michigan last night in Van Buren County, a fire department even reporting sights of a tornado as Sam just mentioned 13 on your sides. Julie Kerrick is live now from Van Buren County near Gobles where that report came from. Julie, tell us what you're seeing this morning. Yeah, we're waiting for that sun to come up to see more hopefully. But so far what we're seeing is mainly flooding. You can take a look here at the road. It is flooding in patches over to the right there. You can see that that flooding is a lot deeper. That's because of that rain that Sam was telling us about over three inches fell really fast and we're not done still dealing with a flood warning in portions of Kalamazoo County County. And of course, waiting to see more on that observed tornado between here and Gobles where we are and Alamo. Now that came after a tornado warning for eastern Van Buren County and Western Kalamazoo County and the numerous severe thunderstorm warnings. What else we're looking at is uh wind damage in portage, of course, almost 80 mile per hour winds in Portage. And of course, that's where the tornado hit just about over a month ago in early May. So it's gonna be really important to pay attention to that when the sun starts coming up. Portage Creek, also dealing with flooding into some roads there. So we're gonna be here throughout the morning and hopefully take a look as the sun starts to come up. We're also seeing some branches that have fallen over here. So we are waiting to see that more of that wind damage as well. We'll be here throughout the morning. The National Weather Service will also be here to survey that damage.
