Dale Earnhardt 2000 Winston Cup Awards Speech

well r.j reynolds has been tremendous through those 20-some visits up here it's been great uh winning championships and races and getting their money but they've been really supported nascar and uh all the tracks and uh everybody is a lot better off because of them but they've been uh super over the years so i like to thank them very much and it was a lot of fun winning talladega and seeing that guy win a million dollars too see richard rick wrote winning me and he was excited about that bobby congratulations buddy you just kept out doing me one didn't you every every time i'd have a bad day you'd have a bad day i'd have a bad day it was just a tough time catching up with them guys couldn't do it but congratulations joe and all the team everybody worked hard to do that i don't know how what it is to win the championship i want to do it i want to be back up here so i'm still got a chance maybe if richard keeps me around a while longer but uh congratulations it also was fun watching matt kintz at dale jr race for a championship and all the rookies really but especially them too from coming from bush and going into winston cup and seeing him kids race it was a lot of fun i'm going to see sad to see old daryl go from driving race cars i've rubbed quite a bit of paint with that guy and learn a lot from him he fired me from driving a race car for him years ago and i had a chance to fire him back but i didn't when i had it work for me but i let him drive to the end of the year anyway so but um easy on me on tv would you but uh richard childers and uh of course the other owners of that team is richard as rusty was read them off i got to read the other ones off judy's shoulders that's the only one we have richard and judy she signs my check but uh they put some great race cars under us over the years and richard working for him is like working for your best friend uh we don't argue a whole lot uh argued a little bit but uh not a whole lot but got a lot of great guys working for us kevin hamill danny lawrence and all the guys that just keep doing more and more um it gives me great confidence to see them guys work so hard on the team and and the confidence they see in me so that's why we can do that much better and hopefully come back and win a championship jim goodwrench has been a super sponsor of ours uh full-time since 88 i've been involved with him for a lot longer than that but on that car and being the black chevrolet since 1988 it's been a long time gar hate to see you retire here you sure you won't do that all right expect to see it daytona work on the car and wax it for me or something i'll put you to work but anyway chevrolet uh burger king burger king is leaving this year hate to see you guys go they've really helped us out a lot snap-on tools acdelco realtree which uh terry labonte and i like a lot we get a few clothes to go deer hunting with so we like that that sponsor coca-cola has done a lot for us they took us a lot a long ways with their promotions they've done and a great sponsor bass pro purdue farms remington arms anheuser-busch with a busch brand as an endorsement with mine gargles and action sports image fred wagonaus and all the guys that do a great job 76 racing fuel and goodyear tires couldn't do without them tires could be guys feather light trailers and uh also i have some new guys coming on next year nabisco oreo uh hershey van camps motorola uh just to mention a few working on some more aren't you rich we need some more stuff don't worry more power money by speed i think uh but uh the nascar family you guys just keep taking it through another notch uh bill and jimmy and uh you know everybody everybody works so hard the marketing team and everybody but you've done a great job and you keep you know taking it to another level you know i ran saca this year and we had a great year but still it wasn't a bad year i got to see both my kids win races dale jr and carrie uh steve park won his first race so that was fun for us as an earnhardt and earnhardt owner and ron hornaday you know he won busch races for us he won truck championships for us and it's sad to see him go and wish him well with his new new venture with a.j foyt he's going to be a tougher owner than i am um also not being a bad year uh my daughter kelly gave me a brand new granddaughter so uh it's been a pretty good year all in all even though i did run second but mr france it's good to see you back here uh great battle you had this year and you won the race i think you beat them and uh look forward to going fishing next year with you if you'll still go with me uh but uh it's been a good year we're looking forward to next year looking forward to daytona uh i think i'll go deer hunt now thank you i
