Daily Life of Whippets

hello today i'm sharing what it's actually like living with whippets first we have snelly the alarm clock going off she knows exactly around 9 30 10 it's time to eat my two ebits are pretty different from each other so you'll be able to get a sense of a younger female versus an older male yes they do sleep in my bed but whippets are such great cuddlers how can they not sit in the morning i feed them each one cup of dry cable and before you guys start typing in the comments about wet food and dry diet i do change it up for their nighttime meals so just scroll back up watch the rest of the video so nelly's just checking to make sure she didn't miss any food before we go on our quick morning walk there's a nice strip of dirt right by our apartment elevator and they just get straight to business there's also another grass field just a couple feet away that i walk them around and just for a couple minutes whippets are very well suited to apartment life and they only need exercise like once a day but now is not that time i've gotta get back inside and start checking slack all right all right i'll play tug of war with you just for a little bit [Music] and of course they do their daily joust or bitey face or whatever you like to call it the whole thing lasts just a couple seconds and now they're ready to go back to sleep until about 2pm yeah four hours later it's time for snelly's second walk because even though she's almost two years old she still can't quite hold it until 5 pm like snoot does and this is just a quick pee she used up to go every three hours so i'm glad it's only down to four walks a day and snelly is a fairly smart dog she knows when she's done with her business she's ready to go back inside also notice how she can tell which sound is the elevator door opening it's honestly so impressive and that's why she's the smart one i mean we love snoot too don't worry and back to sleeping for another three hours while i work but before the dog park i do like to do a little bit of training just to redirect some of that energy into learning leave it leave it wait okay sit down sit down sit down good girl and now my favorite part of the day after a long work day obviously their favorite two is going to the dog park sit snoot sit it's only a two minute drive like two stoplights away which is why i pretty much go every day well every day that's like nice outside i used to take them off leash at a park but honestly it's just much safer to go to like a properly fenced area due to whippets insane prey drive off they go i always like to bring these nerf dog frisbees that stu instantly are obsessed with they will fight over which is the cutest thing to see them both running with it in their mouth other dogs also love this frisbee half the time some other dog will steal it and i have to like take it back and then they never give it up we'll usually stay for an hour and a half but they get most of their energy out within the first half hour and then they'll probably just go home and sleep for the rest of the day and sometimes i'll leave the frisbee in the car and just have the dogs play with other dogs snoot is a pretty social dog you'll play with you know all sorts of dogs and join in any running sprees silly is much more reserved and shy i'm honestly proud if she just goes and smells another dog she is a little bit more social around puppies though especially this little whippet puppy who's only four months old so cute i love seeing these guys play together and i honestly can't wait until the puppy is a little bit older and can run with my dogs all right and on our way home yes nelly knows she's going straight to the dog bath i'm just taking some regular dog shampoo and massaging it in whippets have very short hair so you don't need to bathe them often it's really easy just to comb out the dirt or dust without water soap i think you only really need to bathe them if they get into mud or in general like every month or two but just for the sake of the video i'm showing you what that's like and of course they smell super nice after so that's a great treat snowy come all right back at home i have these rubber lick pads that i like to freeze with either peanut butter or just some ice my dogs love ice snelly's just stolen the whole thing taking it to her hiding place that snoot unfortunately can't fit into don't worry snoop though i got you i got you some ice the other day i had this empty peanut butter jar that i thought stanley could just lick the rest of you know don't let it go to waste soon are you interested too yeah spelling's probably gonna hug it yeah i'm just finding little things like this or like a puzzle toy or that ice trade i just showed you that'll entertain them if say they can't go on a super long walk or to the dog park anyways enjoy this video having her head fully inside a peanut butter jar wow she got that pretty clean at the top but she couldn't quite reach the bottom and you can see they're getting pretty sleepy again they'll probably sleep from about seven to 11 p.m so it seems like they sleep around like 10 a.m to 2 p.m three to five and then seven to 11 so like 10 hours of sleep and then obviously through the night so they sleep a lot and of course they're not asleep the entire time they'll probably like get up stretch do a lap around the apartment switch sleeping positions i love it when they sit next to me and they're back asleep at 11 p.m snelly again knows it's time for her nighttime meal so for the nighttime meal i'll get a can of wet food some freeze-dried raw food and just the regular kibble mix it all up yum and they go nuts for it because i put snelly's in a slow eat maize bowl she could spend like half an hour to an hour eating it and that definitely tires her out snoot probably doesn't need any wearing down so i just put it in a regular bowl and he's probably ready to go to sleep after this all right last walk of the day just a quick one that my partner's gonna do and we're back look at those ears snoot's going straight to sleep and it is cozy cave bed and if snelly didn't go to the park that that day she might be ready for some more playing so we'll usually play fetch with her just inside the apartment maybe like 10 minutes with one of her many favorite spiky rubber balls and finally just getting tired we'll cuddle
