Luke chapter 23 and verse 32 here we have one of the accounts of the crucifixion of Jesus we're on a collection of talks that I've come upon spontaneously this was no intention I did one week on the cycle of pain on our app you can find our app when I say app can I just say something real quick we have an app it's completely free people have been writing to a saying man you keep keep talking and promoting this app an app is no different than a building tonight you were told we're at the Saban and this building allows us to get together and do what matters that's be together and grow spiritually the app is no different than the building and so when I say app that's just another location where you can get content connect with people get to know someone and it's happening in different languages and people all around the world and so I started with a studio sermon just on the app called the cycles of pain or the cycle of pain I want to do part for tonight and I'm really really caught up with these concepts of these cycles we go through in our human condition and so this is the cycles of pain part 4 and my subtitle like who has subtitles what is going on is is is simply this over and over I want to talk to some people tonight who are in a cycle of doing something you know is not beneficial you know is not healthy but you keep doing it over and over now doing something that's unhealthy over and over if you cannot relate with that you are mother Teresa okay for the rest of us that's called normal life okay so we're all in this together we could all start you know getting embarrassed or whatever but but we've all experienced a few cycles some of us more than others where you keep doing something that you keep looking in the mirror telling yourself stop doing that say things when nobody's looking like you're an idiot what are you doing for me I'm gonna share one primary thing that I keep doing over and over and driving me nuts and I'm not gonna tell you everything so don't get too excited I'm gonna tell you the one thing that I've really been struggling with lately so so so stand by and then I'm gonna ask if anybody else is struggling with that and to raise their hand so then I feel better okay here we go Luke 23 and verse 32 it reads to criminals were led away with Jesus and all three were to be executed together when they came to the place that is known as the skull the guards crucified Jesus nailing him on the center cross between the two criminals while they were nailing Jesus to the cross he prayed over and over Father forgive them they don't know what they're doing Father forgive them they don't know what they're doing the soldiers after they crucified him gambled over his clothing a great crowd gathered to watch what was happening the religious leaders sneered at Jesus and mocked him saying look at this man what kind of chosen Messiah is this he he pretended to save others but he can't even save himself the soldiers joined in the mockery by offering offering Jesus a drink of vinegar over Jesus head on the cross was written an inscription in Greek Latin Aramaic this man is the king of all the Jews and all the soldiers laughed and scoffed at him saying hey if you're the King of the Jews why don't you save yourself one of the criminals hanging on the cross next him kept ridiculing him saying what kind of Messiah are you save yourself and save us from this death the criminal hanging on the other cross rebuked the man saying do you not fear God don't you fear God you're about to die we deserve to be condemned for we're just being repaid for what we've been done or what we've done but this man this man he's done nothing wrong and he said I beg of you my Lord Jesus show me Grace and take me with you into your everlasting Kingdom Jesus responded I promise I promise you this this very day you will enter paradise with me that's the story that we're going to look into tonight and again we're talking about cycles of pain cycles of pain and just maybe there's some people here today whether you're here at the Saban whether you're watching downtown and Seattle whether you're watching in Bothell whether you're watching in Kirkland whether you're watching on the app whether you are watching in the UD district in Seattle wherever you are watching this or listening to this maybe by chance there are people right now who are in a cycle a cycle they can't break something they keep doing over and over there I call it a habit an unhealthy habit that you don't like in fact it causes you to despise yourself it causes you to be frustrated at yourself maybe it's a secret maybe it's kind of obvious maybe you think it's a secret and everybody knows it's obvious but there's you were supposed to laugh at that that was not that was serious okay but but but have you ever been caught in a cycle of doing something over and over that you can't seem to break I've been called an optimist I've been called a faith guy I've been called a positive person I've been called a glass-half-full kind of human but I will go on the record to say that I do believe in a god that is so real that is so big that is so loving and so intimately involved in your life whether you are aware of it or not I've got to be one of those guys that believe in the next few minutes this cycle could begin to break in your life so that is where I'm going that is what I'm hoping for I say we might as well shoot for the top hope for the best let's believe that God can do anything and so why can't we believe that at the very least in these moments we share focusing on the person that has all the power in the universe at the cycle you can't get over could begin to break in your life we pray with me God I thank you for the moments that we share and I ask that you would meet us and speak to us and that we would encounter you make this more than a talk make this more than a presentation make this more than a sermon we asked for an encounter with you we thank you for your grace thank you for what you're doing in church home what you're doing in Seattle across our campuses LA and even now around the world through technology and the church home global app we thank you for that bless our moments now together in Jesus name amen so so here's what I'm honestly struggling with and it's it sometimes it is funny but it's actually not funny I have been struggling lately with anger and that is the truth and my kids will probably attest to that I've just been so easily frustrated lately and and I don't know if it's too much coffee I get a little edgy but recently I play golf several days in a row and I mean I was getting so angry right good if you know right good he's one of the original people that started the Bible study and Jason's house is one of my best friends and-and-and-and ride literally at one point like I'm on the green and I won't even get in the cart he rides like getting the car to my shut up I'm not getting in the cart right I'm just frustrated my 7 irons flying down the fairway and I walk up on the green he's like hey man this is this literally happened a few days ago hey man you need to get it together and I was like you need to get it together and I hate drew close no I didn't say that but I have been just really really angry recently and this isn't like a new thing like I definitely had cycles and and and some of you didn't have opportunity I was so blessed to have like the best dad in the whole world my dad would have talks like this he'd say son Sam I want to tell you what Smith minge tend to struggle with right and he would he said now one of the things we're gonna is we tend to struggle with anger now you have seen your dad get angry I was like yes I have and he's like that might be something you might struggle with and so I had the privilege of having a dad he was like listen this might be something and recently have you ever gotten so angry cuz you're angry it's so weird right because you're like I kids I said not to and you get done then you're like Judah what is wrong with you right and just you double down on the anger but I know exactly what it feels like to be like I I mean I have done self-talk we have marriage coaches we have a counselor that we see I try to talk to God every day I do and I love it when people call it the good book I even read the good book every day usually about a verse a day which is true don't laugh because I can't large amounts of content it just all just gets jumbled for me so I do like a verse a day and I try to think about it and when I was a kid when I was a kid my anger got so bad on the tennis court I was a pretty good tennis player but um my dad he tried everything to discipline me his his final straw was son in this tennis match this is so embarrassing this is a true story Graham he said if you cannot throw your racket control your anger this is so embarrassing I will buy you anything in that tennis shop under $100 anything we were on a budget my parents never said we can't afford it they said we're not gonna buy that right now that's how the Smith family rode that's a true story anything under $100 now for the Smith family anything under $100 was a lot right so he's like any I'll get the next two hours if you will control your 15 minutes in man 15 minutes in uh just screaming and I'm getting warnings from the umpire and my dad's like but um he doesn't believe in God he's not my son and to be honest anger has definitely been and I'm such a pleaser so I oftentimes won't get angry at people and it's not because I'm so humble or selfless I just I'm a pleaser I want people to like me but I will get so angry sometimes at the people closest to me I'll get angry at myself get angry for getting angry and I have had many cycles in my life and by the way by the time you get 40 there it is again by the time you get 40 you just thought right you just thought like I'll just I'm gonna mature out of this all right I'm gonna grow out of this and then the older you get you like it ways this is this getting worse like ha Wow the laughter the timing tonight is not my favorite just to be honest that's weird pastures up here just sharing his heart uh hahaha what an idiot so is that an entire corduroy suit so alright god bless you guys love you got one of these weeks I swear I will walk out that door all the way to LAX okay I got a Burbank but have you it can be something as internal as thoughts you can't break and they're unhealthy it can be something as unhealthy it could be something you know that you eat or something that you drink it could be something that you say something that you do there's so many layers right to these cycles we get get in and we keep doing it over and over [Music] one of the things I'm actually I'm in a habit of doing and I've been trying to break this habit is in my relationship with Chelsea we're twenty years in and in our marriage I've been trying to ask her a couple of significant questions every day now we have great relationship and we talk a lot but her in her personality what she um what really gets her talking and opening up is when her husband who needs to figure this out says things like babe how are you feeling today what's this is true what's one thing you haven't said to me that you should say to me and by the way every time I ask that question she's like okay here's what I should say I'm like you weren't gonna say you know tell I ass but I'm in the habit and there'll be another the end of day a day or two days or three days or a whole week where I haven't done that and I'm like you gotta break that cycle and start asking the question that helps grow gives chels confidence our relationship grows so it could be something that you're trying to start doing over and over but have you ever been in a cycle you're like man I just got to break this cycle now if you're like I think I had yeah probably here's one of the telling signs to know that you are currently as we speak in a cycle of something that is unhealthy something that I'll go as far to say it could be sin the Bible actually uses that word sin is to miss a mark a mark not set by religious leaders a mark not even set a set by ancient figures in the Old Testament but a mark and standard set by God the one who designed everything lips hips and fingertips and all the lakes and rivers and hippopotamuses sidenote Discovery Channel has Shark Week do you know how many more people die in a given year from hippopotamuses I almost said hippopotamus or something and I'm like what is this a plant but these hippos are killing people folks I say Discovery Channel has hippo week for real now watch the hippo in its element and now it attacks think about it though hippos were all like they kill more people than sharks folks let's wake up let's wake up America you know like that's what I'm going with hippos let's wake up Judah we don't have them here great point have you ever had a cycle you can't break here's one of the telling signs here's one of the telling signs you go fault-finding you go fault-finding now this is classic human cognition again this is one of our classic cycles it's called projecting it's very simple it's not complicated it goes something like this you know what I don't like what I'm doing furthermore I kind of don't like parts of me I don't like this so much it's eating at me it's annoying me it's frustrating me and you know what I can't stand it I don't like it I feel unsettled you know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna go find other people with faults oftentimes similar to mine but maybe worse and I will project my personal dilemma difficulty challenge and I will project it on them and oftentimes people in cycles they can't break are very critical are very critical okay now some of you're like oh I don't like where this wind can we go back to hippos no they don't exist here okay we do and I'm not saying we're critical always because we're in a cycle we can't break but fault finding and projecting is one of the telling signs that there's something about you that you don't like but you can't seem to change it is an over and over occurrence and so you will find someone oftentimes with the same cycle you're in right let's use gossip you'll find someone you have a problem with talking about all of your closest friends to all of your other closest friends and all the things you'd like to say are negative things you would never tell your close friends because good friends don't tell friends the truth we just tell other friends and so what happens is you don't like that part of you you can't break that part of you and so you go find somebody who's a gossip and then you go tell somebody else well you know so-and-so just got some a lot and then now you got friends who are like that's really funny coming from you and you're like honestly I'm starting out I know I do a little but they do so much wouldn't you agree and what your friends should say is you're projecting right you you're projecting preachers for instance oftentimes preachers are most hard and most brutal on areas of weakness and sin that they struggle with that's a classic preacher giveaway okay if there's a preacher that he or she and they're just going off on one particular sin oftentimes it's like yo preacher are you okay this happens a lot it really does it's because it's our cycle it's our human it's not always a hundred percent true but oftentimes it is and wouldn't you know how bizarre is this we have a criminal next to Jesus who is hanging on a cross for convicted crimes that evidently were so sure and so obvious he's being executed and while dying in his execution he's fault-finding this is the human condition at an extreme he's dying for this I mean the same execution and he says hey really your God so with his last breath he wants to find at least one other person that is worse than him I know I'm a thief you talk about you God why don't you save us mister thief you don't like yourself do you you don't like one one account says they were robbers they were thieves obviously they were not just one time thieves these were professional thieves who probably stole one too many times and finally it was like you are so counterproductive and hurting our our cities and our towns and we're going to execute you talk about a cycle they couldn't break even after they had been caught no doubt many times and now he's getting his just reward and he is projecting hey hey now what's interesting is that the Bible says in Matthew and Mark Matthew Mark and Luke are called the synoptic Gospels they follow a very similar similar storyline Matthew and Mark if you notice this Matthew chapter 27 44 it says the two criminals were crucified with Jesus and began to talk him hurling their insults on him this is interesting so many people believe it was only one criminal but Matthew now let's go to mark mark and mark 1532 it says even the two criminals at the end there even the two criminals who were crucified with Jesus began to talk him hurling insults on him okay it is important for us to note that at one point during what was probably you know they say Jesus hung there for about six hours so they hung here for hours suffocating in their own blood but apparently the initial few hours both criminals were hurling insults on Jesus so both are projecting both are saying hey were thieves you think you're God why don't you save up right right and and let's be honest that in all of their excruciating pain evidently was doing something for them it was doing something for them and that's what we have to own a little bit here are projecting and our fault finding and our insulting of others it does a little something for us now it's cheap as Kumbi and so it's like a vapor so you got to keep doing it and and and the cycle turns into an over and over and over and over lifestyle can't break it so I need to and here's what happens we we're in a cycle of over and over so we project we fault fine and then the pain gets worse so the fault-finding gets worse and the cycle grows darker and deeper and oftentimes people will talk about things like rock-bottom where you're like I I can't keep friends anymore I've you rate everyone cuz I don't like myself and I can't break this cycle it gets very real so real that you can be being executed for your apparent crimes on society and still with your last breath projecting on a man who in fact is innocent so Matthew and Mark tell us now oftentimes people will say these things and we see these post people says man the Bible always contradicts itself man all you Christians are so confused we could talk about that we should have one night at church on one day at church home where we title the whole night contradictions and we could just talk about it because Matthew and Mark are not contradicting Luke's account they're simply adding to it they are telling us that there was a time that both criminals were projecting and insulting and finding fault in Jesus and it should be noted this is my favorite part jesus said nothing he just hung them it didn't say they had one insult it said both of them were hurling insults plural and Jesus true to form the only thing they would have heard Jesus say was Father forgive them they don't know what they're doing and then Luke comes along a dr. Luke who was a physician by trade he tends to be very detailed in his accounts of the gospel he would like us to know that at some point one of the criminals changed what one of the criminals completely changed now this gets me really interested I get real curious what hold on what these guys are in cycles so bad they have to be removed from the earth you mean to tell me one of these one of these thugs changed his tune and by the only person that would be like listen if you were at the cross and the man in the middle cross claimed to be God and he was dying the same horrible death as two common thugs it would kind of be hard to believe that he was the all-powerful all-knowing God of the universe and yet one of the criminals changes Luke says at some point we don't know the timeline exactly but I'm sure it was some time had passed one of these criminals saw something he saw something was it the prayer he heard was it the Silence of the man on the middle cross was it his demeanor was it his countenance was it his calmness was it his peace what was it wasn't the love emanating from the man-in-the-middle cross what was it that changed this man's cycle he's in a classic cycle that many people believe really cannot be broken it can only be suppressed like suppressing a beach ball under pool water just as best you can you have tendencies and family history and it's just what if what he's got to hold that beach ball down and so it's kind of preached to us that you can kind of hold off some of these proclivities that you were born with but you can't really break the cycle I would like to suggest to you that there remains a Jesus who is now not dead but rose on the third day well appeared to hundreds of people levitated into the clouds and the Bible declares that he sits in the heavens and he laughs at all who oppose him and he is all-powerful he is God and and if if one of these criminals can change their cycle I can change my cycle what what did he see what did he see like I I read that and I do I need to see well I don't know why I got him on this side but he's on one of these sides but I just want to know sir what did you witness that was so compelling it gets deeper it gets deeper it gets deeper what's interesting to me is that the on lookers who also berated Jesus remember the soldiers and people standing by they're like yeah come on won't you save yourself the entire earth goes dark and the ground starts to shake and rocks start to break open and the people we don't know how many were there went home and the Bible says they were beating their chests out of grief for they knew something had been done wrong now my brothers and sisters up until the 19th century executions was one of the rare enjoyable forms of entertainment on this planet there was no I'm out trying to salt intelligence no technology obviously and so one of the most entertaining things to do it was horrific it was gory it was ridiculous but literally to watch a Roman crucifixion was one of the rare things of entertainment and you would go to scoff make fun of berate and experience entertainment and kids were brought to the site these people come for entertainment and they leave beating their chests saying that was not right today what did they witness I'll take it a step further this man this other criminal see something so compelling I want you to consider this for a moment so compelling that it eclipses the excruciating pain his body is going through I will be honest with you if you execute me publicly I'm probably not gonna be focusing on the guy next to me nor concerned about him think about I mean I get I got two paper cups recently from temporary blinds I put up so the neighbors did not see my naked body do that nobody's looking all right but I did and it went something like this I got the first one so y'all go second oh God you think I'm exaggerating that is a true story yelling haha right because the moment you go into pain if you're like me it's like I don't I'm not thinking about you or anyone right I'm just like ah this man is dying and he something is caught as a tension it's so powerful see that's where I'm like oh Jesus can be so compelling you can be in the most pain you've ever been in your life but he is so wonderful and so loving and so forgiving he can actually draw your attention away from your pain okay now that's real this man is so caught up he so changes his to the other criminal keeps hurling his insults and finally he says hey don't you fear God don't you get it we're about to die now you understand so my crucifixion crucifixion you the death happens by by your lungs filling up with blood and you die of suffocation talking is one of the most painful things you can do during a Roman crucifixion Jesus speaks seven statements on the cross which also reveals his strength his it's wonderful but every word obviously Jesus ever chose was profound and chosen that the words are precious this man is so overwhelmed with what he has seen he causes extra pain in his body to say hey don't you fear God you're about to die I'm about to die we deserve this listen to this we're being repaid for all we've done this man he's done nothing wrong how do you know that I can tell I can see it he's done nothing wrong he's done nothing wrong I think that's my alarm to end my sermon okay I get the message Lord all right sometimes I get long geez someone's like do one of those alarms so Judah hears it so we get out of here we can still go on our date all right I get it I get it for those watching the alarm just went off here in the auditorium and okay Lord let's close in prayer I'm kidding I'm kidding it's like the climactic conclusion he says he's done nothing wrong he's done nothing rights one of the hardest things for people to believe today that I follow a god man named Jesus who lived 33 years and never did one thing wrong this man what he has seen is compelled to declare that the man dying of the same execution he's done nothing wrong what did he see and what did he hear and then he for the first time he speaks to the man he believes to be God he says some Jesus I love how the passion translation says Lord Jesus will you will you remember me when you come into your kingdom I love this this this thief is new I'll let you listen he says I beg you my Lord Jesus show me Grace and take me into your everlasting Kingdom ESV says remember me I love it when he says remember me because what the thief doesn't yet understand is God can never forget you remember you oh sweet child I can't ever forget you I can't ever forget you now I've been on some playgrounds with my kids in the in it throughout the years and now they're 15 and 12 and 10 they're gonna be taking me to playground soon but go ahead dad enjoy yourself alright thanks huh 75 out there on this wing give me an underdog son but um I've been to see like that what thanks grant preciate that man it doesn't last one done okay so um and when I go to when I go I feel bad when other kids do face-plants I do I do oh my god is that okay y'all right sorry buddy they bleeding a little bit my aw I'm so sorry I don't have any band-aids all right god bless you guys you know I'd do the pastor thing the fellow dad thing you know like it's great but it's not my kid now when my kid does a faceplant I know you probably think I freaked out I do I do today grace almost you know got hurt and I'm like oh and my heart starts pounding and well my in today Gracie had loads my ten-year-old baby girl she gotten a little brutal little bike accident with Esther and she skinned up her knee baby girl you you okay and you don't think it's weird that I act like that why cuz that's mine that's my girl she falls on her face I'm like oh sweet baby Jesus come everybody pray everybody prati to everybody to park join me in prayer people are oh he's one of those pastors I need you to pray every once while you find it one of the old Saints he's at the park she's are getting the name of Jesus if we find a devil in the neck I'm like that's what I'm talking about right cuz that's mine that's my baby what we fail to understand I was talking to a friend on the drive in here for 35 minutes and my friend said this he said thanks for not turning your back on me I said what you are God's Son I can't turn my back on you it's like turning the back on my family when did we get all thinking we could just walk away from people that's God's baby girl and what the feed doesn't fail to understand because he still thinks God loves just like humans love which is based on performance he says is a chance when you get up to where you're going and you're the line in the lamb and you're the light and the everlasting one and you don't want to speaks universes and stars and oceans and rivers and hippopotamuses into existence could it be would you remember my name your name I remember everything about you you're mine you're my son he says are you kidding me today you will be with me in paradise whoa whoa everything changed everything everything changed now I I like you think about this man and I think to myself if only he could have seen this Jesus earlier and that is part of the message that no matter when Jesus is there but what if what if you could see him now in your cycle I am with this and I'm I'm done I get it the alarm has gone off several minutes ago now by the way these drew corduroys are very hot it should be melted I love drew shout out to Drew but um who I'm losing weight up here though praise the Lord but um so Luke Luke Luke 23 a lot of a lot of thinkers and scholars and writers who look at the original language are not sure at the tents or the the if it's plural or singular and there's been debate over this for many many years and that is um did Jesus keep praying his prayer or did he pray at once did he keep our duty print one but you'll notice the passion translation in Luke 23 to 23 which verses that guys were he Jesus prays verse 34 look look what it says in the passion translation while they were while they were nailing Jesus to the cross he prayed over and over over and over now I believe based on my research that that is probably the more likely scenario a few scholars argue whether or not Jesus prayed this prayer at all I know I really don't believe that's true because we will find by the way you want some chills real quick I was crying early this morning over this fact one of the prayers that became famous amongst Christian martyrs was this prayer do you remember Stephen when he was being stoned he said forgive them Lord forgive them and they said throughout history many a famous Christian martyrs they would end up praying the ultimate prayer over their enemies who were executing them don't hold this against him Father forgive them it was the ultimate final act of following Jesus and so I believe Jesus prayed this prayer and what if he prayed it over and over what if he kept praying it over and over now my brain goes like this I keep screwing up over and over maybe you can't relate with this but I tend to need a God who forgives me over and over and so it only makes sense that the God that I have put my entire belief system in is the God while his enemies nailed him to a tree he made he prays over and over Father forgive them they don't know what they're doing Abba forgive them they don't know what they're doing Father forgive them they don't know what they're doing where they're criminals next in being nailed to trees listening to what they thought initially at least one of them was simply a madman what is that did he praise Father forgive did hours pass and one of the criminals start to realize this is not like any other man who's ever lived do you know what Romans chapter 8 says about the Spirit of Jesus can I read this to you and I promise this I'm done I'm done so the bell is rung the alarms gone up God the search of the heart knows fully our longings it he also understands the desires of the Spirit because the Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us I don't know exactly how this works but I want you to see this in conclusion because I believe this is what can break the cycle you are in I need a forgiveness that goes over and over if I'm gonna break this cycle that keeps going over and over and the Bible says the Spirit of Jesus is in heaven as we speak and he prays over and over and do you know what he prays forgive them forgive them forgive them forgive them forgive them and the Father and the Son and the Spirit they are one and yet they're distinguishable and the father says I will and the son says it's finished and the Spirit continues to pray for you whether you've asked for it or not forgive him forgive her forgive him forgive them forgive them and it's never stopped it's never stopped over and over and over well Judah we keep telling people they're forgiven they will never break the cycle you got to hate it I'm afraid we've moved from hating our air our cycle our sin our unhealthy actions and we've turned it into hating ourselves we've projected on other people and we've started to disdain one another and hate other people and it's not helping what if the Bible was true what if it was the goodness and long-suffering of God that broke the cycle in our life was it was it a condemning God who broke the cycle of a professional crook who was being executed was Jesus declaring you must hate your sin turn your wrong your bad this isn't good is that his words from the cross or was he praying over and over and was he silently not rebutting not defending himself taking upon himself the insults hurled upon him while he also took upon himself the sins of those who insulted him was it not that the man in the middle cross was goodness unlike the world had ever seen was it not love that seemed to lose from his pores and the blood that poured out of his body was the thief not converted by what he witnessed it was the love it was the forgiveness it was the goodness of God that woke that man up why did the other criminal not see what he saw I don't have answers for that but I know there was one of them who everything changed it is crazy though isn't it I'm done I promise to some done and I had a friend say Judah I'm getting better at talking directly to God every day I said I like that I like how you say that I like that talking directly to God every day am I the only one that sometimes seems like this is ridiculous I think I'm talking to myself God help me today with my day and remember me hope you still love me it seems ridiculous sometimes oh I bet I bet it seems just about as ridiculous as praying to a man dying the same way you are remember me remember me I this don't make sense but I just know I see what I see you are loved your forgiveness will you remember me this this is listen to the sermon he preaches he says today you're gonna be with me in paradise I wonder if we let if we let the world see this man not our traditions our rhetoric our projection upon people groups in other countries and continents because deep down we don't totally like ourselves I wonder if we could just the one who takes away the sins of the world behold him I had a friend recently who decided I don't believe in God anymore and I thought to myself but you would love Jesus you would love Jesus he just got lost in the mix and all of our things that we do you leave would love Jesus you would love him you you you just we got to get past some of this week week we got a we got a I need Jesus and if nothing else if nothing else you know what dad you're right I struggle with anger you were right thanks for that you passed it down this sucks or this cycle is the thing that helps me see the only one that can break it and this cycle brings me to the end of myself and I fun to say god I've tried everything I need to see what the thief saw because I too am broken I too can't save myself I need to hear you pray over and over Father forgive forgive them they don't they don't know what they're doing it could change everything it could change everything I know this sounds strange and at the risk of sounding incredibly spiritual I woke up this morning so early and that is so bizarre for me I love to sleep I actually find an incredibly exhilarating to consider that much of the church could be awake and I could still be sleeping night really it's a wonderful thing so I I sleep very late but so I got up early and I just put on some music and I just I don't know what it was I had this hadn't happened in a long time and I just started crying and I and I just started I just spent the thought the love of God and I'm like whoa this is everything this is what's changed my life not rhetoric not traditions not principles and rules and concepts and conformity or a place to fit in I I felt Jesus the whole thing I can describe it's like liquid love it's like oh my god some of you feeling it right now it's like man i whoa that is that is the love of Jesus that knows no ends it is by definition unconditional and I would like to remind you you are his you're his son you're his daughter he loves she's so much when you falter when you fail he jumps to your side he cannot help it he is a father and you are his child Jesus I thank you for the moments that we share and I'm asking for me for all of us I need more of this love I I need I need more more and more and more and more and more to continue to break the cycles that hurt me in my life that hurt us in our lives God the things we do over and over there's only one answer it's your forgiveness that's over and over is your love this over and over when I thank you for that I thank you for the sense of your love in this room right now even those watching in Seattle or those watching right now on an app I pray they would send your love your real tangible love if you're here you're watching listening and you would like to like that criminal you would like to ask Jesus when your time comes to take you to paradise there's only one way that is that you accept what Jesus did on your behalf on that middle cross he who knew no sin became sin so that you might become right with God it is that simple it is that good if you would like to accept the free forgiveness that only Jesus offers I'm gonna ask you to respond whether you are in a cafe watching this on a laptop with the earphones in whether you're on an airplane about ready to take off and you're watching this on your smartphone and you're listening right now wherever you are watching this or in this literal room on the count of three if you would like to accept the free forgiveness of Jesus and begin a journey with him that'll take you all the way into eternity I'm gonna ask you to slip up your hand and put it right back down on the count of three and I believe when you respond on the outside to what you knows have it only inside it just makes it more real that's all that's why I sometimes ask people to raise their hand on the count of three you know who you are one two three that you just slip up your hand and you can put it right back down slip it up wherever you are and Seattle slip up your hand put it right back down wherever you watching on the app slip it up put it right back down Jesus I thank you forgiveness is free because you paid for it completely and you cannot forget us and you will always remember us and your forgiveness goes over and over and over and over and over and over and we thank you for that god I ask at the very least even right now as we're praying together that cycles that are unhealthy cycles that are hurting others and hurting ourselves things we keep doing over and over things we keep taking things we keep saying things we keep thinking keep things we keep acting out things that we don't like about ourselves that we want to break that we feel powerless to break in our life Lord we now turn our attention to you even in the midst of our pain like that thief on the cross your love eclipses our pain your forgiveness eclipses our pain it is more captivating it is more powerful and so I'm asking at the beginnings of cycles being broken right now in our life that you would help us in these areas where we can't seem to gain ground we can't seem to overcome but we want to we don't want to keep doing these things and so we ask you we cannot do it in our own strength it is not by - not by power it's by the Spirit of Jesus the person of Jesus and we declare that and we take these moments now as we prepare to sing two melodies and harmonies and we turn our attention to you you are the one who breaks the cycles in our life and if you can do it for the criminal and the people in the cross you can do it for me you can do it for us can we ask that in Jesus name in Jesus so do you love our YouTube channel does it
