hi everybody i'm working on another project finally gonna get this uh tv cabinet built uh took a bunch of measurements we sort of figured out what size we wanted it to be and uh you can see the tv is in the down position so that we can build the cabinet around it and uh i went and cut started cutting some boards we've got some two by fours and where i ripped them in half and cut them to length and i think we're going to build this kind of like how they would do an rv cabinet to keep help keep it light and that's just frame it out in place screw it into the floor and into the walls and stuff and then just put plywood on the outside of it so it keeps it nice and light we're not going to go full cabinet building because they get really heavy really fast and plus we're just it's like a simple box going around the tv so i'm going on this here we go [Music] [Music] so here's my stopping point for right now so i think this is my stopping point for right now i've used up all of the lumber we had all the scrap lumber we had and this is what we have so far not too shabby it's pretty strong and actually pretty lightweight so now we got to put plywood along the front probably the same stuff we used for the roof the really thin stuff and then i have to build a little spot a little shelf for ye old soundbar to go in the subwoofer is going to live in the corner got to get all the electronics cleaned up and maybe put a shelf back there for things like the nintendo switch so that's where we are right now i'm going to clean it up because i made a mess and then we'll be back with more stuff later it's uh day two of the project back at it uh late in the day because we had other things we had to get to and um i went got materials and then just got so into building things that i forgot to pick up the camera so pretty typical yeah pretty typical for us so here's what it looks like now today went got plywood to face it there's water in there she's making a mess this is plywood it's thin stuff just like what we used on the roof of the slide out and it's cut to our template kind of this is the front piece here so when this is all together sorry that's what it looks like and then we got cedar planks for the top that i've cut to length and they just have to be finessed once these are in a slab we'll cut the hole for the tv lift and then this in inside piece will hinge up at least that's the plan and so far it's going according to plan so this is what it looks like when the tv's down you know what i'm really glad that we didn't have to figure out how to put the fireplace in here yeah that would have been i feel like it's like it would have been a really cool element but i think i'm glad we decided to that i think it's going to look nice just that just like that and it smells so good in here fresh cut cedar perfect if that smell sticks around for a while i'll be pretty happy so that's kind of where we are right now it looks uh it looks pretty good i think and then over here on the end i've got a hole for my computer tower to go in and i have hinges i'm gonna have a little desk thing that pops up so that i can use my desktop computer in here so my tower can slide into there and then from out here it really doesn't look like there's much of anything different about it other than it's just a nice little cabinet so i don't want to jinx it but so far this has been going very smoothly usually this is the part where we're like why did it not work but it's been going really well so this is exciting another project so uh tomorrow we'll probably get to paintings we went and pulled our pink colors this color that is going to be here on the lower so we went and pulled it out of storage we're going to do a sealant type stain on the cedar we don't really want to ruin the smell but we're going to kind of darken it and get it all sealed up but so far uh the cuts have been going well and the measurements have been going well and i think it's going to be quite nice ah yes and then we'll put a little piece of corner trim on here off to the saw okay take off my thing a little bit [Music] i don't know how you can do that i'm freezing better than getting sucked into the table saw [Music] hello all right moment of truth does it fit oh look at that right past the outlet that's perfect that is pretty spot-on so here's the plan now that i don't have the camera in my hand um the tv only goes from about here to here so once these are planked in like a slab we will cut it like it's a single piece of wood and cut the opening for the tv so it will be from like here probably from here to here that way the lid isn't that heavy because the more the wider it is the more it'll catch on and that way too if we have stuff that we want to put on here when the tv's down like if you wanted candles or a plant on here you can still put it to the side when we want to lift it oh that's a good idea yeah we'll have like a good like five six inches on the edge yeah so if you wanted a couple things on here we could i like that thank you sweetheart because we don't want a living room with the giant tv over the window no way this is gonna look so nice this is gonna look really nice i'm very pleased and the fact that we pushed it student we were gonna put a fireplace in which would have pushed it forward and um sue made the observation and rightly so that uh that would push out and it would make this like one giant cabinet all the way along having this pushed back and also a little bit shorter makes this room look a lot bigger like this living space this is you did such a good job on this yeah i'm so excited it looks so like clean i always feel like my judgment with cutting clean lines and measuring things is never good so i'm so glad that that pantry worked out as well as it did and this has worked out as well as it did because it's like especially being in a place that i can't use a level i'm doing everything off measurements yes yes because that's true we're never quite level so i had to do measurements from the window from the floor and figure out level for everything and it looks good like i don't see anything wonky about it it's really good so we're done super happy all right next is painting and staining progress is being made we got the uh a top cedar planks and they're sanded and trimmed to fit you can see uh our outlets and stuff we're close but uh they're still usable so just cut a little notch for them and it'll be fine um so now i've already taken measurements to cut i'm gonna cut a hole in this so when the tv pops up it has a lid so i've got to attach these two planks together and then uh cut the hole maybe not in that order cut the hole and then attach them together i'm not sure what the best way to do that is but uh i guess i'll find out this is the sound bar tray this goes in like this wow what a gorgeous fit and then the front will go over this and i put these in so we have something to staple the front piece to because otherwise this would be like a big drum and can flex and then it's dual purpose i did these one by fours because this tv can still roll back and forth and i didn't want anything to get caught on the back of this as it came up yeah so these are flush so when it slides up it's just flush on the back great so that's what we've got so far and this is this is just all one by fours and it's tacked into the top and i think that'll work really nice yeah so i've gotten this thing mostly all prepped um the front piece is done cut a little slot for the sound bar this little controller thing that raises and lowers made a notch it's gonna go right it's gonna go right in here so i'm just prepping the top that's gonna go on it and hopefully i did it all correctly and it'll work uh the top has been cut and stained and put together pretty much almost ready to be assembled i'm gonna go try and put the hinge on [Music] [Music] so [Music] so this is the lid needs a little more fine-tuning it's a little tight but it's getting [Music] there [Music] up [Music] so uh the top is finally on and uh so i think i'm gonna finally tack the sides on and then i'll be done with this project at least for now until we modify it because i'm sure we'll need to modify it at some point here we go [Music] there we go it's tacked together now we just need to do some trim work but for the most part it's uh good to go [Music] so it'll probably need some tweaking and adjustments but for now it's uh it's pretty well done woohoo [Music] so there we go it is assembled and working uh we still have to finish like some trim work and probably touch up some of the paint and things like that but so far it seems like it's working pretty good so there's another project that's mostly crossed off the list that's it for now we'll see you next time you
