CTA hosts public felicitation for high-level U.S. delegation

[Music] for [Music] for for for [Music] number [Music] Michael M Gregory mix [Music] [Applause] [Applause] let me just say it's an honor to be here today and to lead this bip part delegation [Music] the author of the bill I proud to have sponsored this legislation and I want to thank him for working with me to get this bill and Congressman Meeks on the committee to to get this bill to the president's desk where it will be signed in the coming [Applause] days all of us every single one of us are deeply concerned by beijing's growing campaign of repression against Tibetans in the PRC for China will never succeed in erasing Tibetan culture Tibetan language Tibetan religion and Tibetan democracy and and everything Tibetan we will have your back [Applause] I'm reminded of that and when I look around at this audience I see my brothers and sisters my spiritual brothers and sisters we share ancestry spiritually so know brothers and sisters that you have one of your own Brothers in the United States Congress fighting for your rights for your freedom for your future we're in this together when we were uh honored with the meeting earlier today with his Holiness I shared with him that when he fled Tibet in 1959 my mother also fled to escape communism in 1959 but in her homeland of Cuba and so we share many similarities and I have a lot of compassion and empathy for the people who are here today who want to return to their homelands who want to visit and have their children and grandchildren who have never visited Tibet the opportunity to do so and we are all working together with you to see that day [Applause] come know that you may made this bill pass possible and and and love he will live a long time and his legacy will live forever but to you president of China you'll be gone and nobody will give you credit for anything so in that Spirit uh of uh now the Al Lama would not approve of my saying that when I criticize the Chinese government he says let's pray for Nancy to rid her of her negative attitudes but I think he will I hope he will indulge me today to say that change is on the way as our colleagues have said Hope Springs from faith and the faith of the Tibetan people in the goodness of others is what is going to make all the difference and then we can say freely in Lassa and every other place Tash thank you all very much God bless tiet and God bless America thank you [Applause] the this is not [Applause] China [Applause] [Music] forel for [Music] [Applause] [Music] rights to selfdetermination much [Music]
