[Music] for this trip we had two vehicles leaving adelaide and another two leaving port augusta and it was hawker where we finally met up before setting off to marie for our final refuel before we headed toward nedata it was a quick look at the farina ruins on our way past now all settled in for the trip we made our way towards marie where we set up just short of the town for our first night there certainly is a lot of history in murray with the old gan railway line and tom cruise's old mail truck not quite sure what these are along the united track but they certainly catch the attention of the tourists when they drive fast [Music] we couldn't resist a bit of a photo shoot at lake air south before we went on to the kirti merka old railway siding [Music] and here we are at mound springs and the bubbler [Music] we had a quick stop and look around at cows springs before we finally went on to william creek our second night had us camping just north of william creek [Music] on our third day we saw the eudada track north of william creek reopened due to the rain so we were now able to proceed [Music] we use a concrete causeway at the algae buckland bridge crossing to do a bit of a self-made water car wash [Music] before our third night we camped in the creek down from the algae button bridge [Music] when we set off on day four there was still plenty of water on the road when we got to nada it was a quick shower at the caravan park and something to eat here at the roadhouse before we continued on north we were now heading for fink we were going to go out to the lambert centre and then we would make our way over to dalhousie after we'd been to the lambert centre stuck in the mud something that we didn't think would happen on this trip [Music] all set up for camp on their fourth night [Music] early morning around the campfire it doesn't get any better now making our way into northern territory [Music] the lambeth centre the geographical centre of mainland australia [Music] back into south australia and onto mount there where we had a quick look around refueled our vehicles and continued on with the trip [Music] it wasn't long and were dow housing springs we all jumped in and had a bit of a swim and then set up camp again and this time for our fifth night when we set off in the morning we had to contend with a bit more water on the road but once we reached the simpson desert proper that was the last of the water that we've seen for the rest of the trip with all the signs that erected throughout the simpson desert with the signs in conjunction with a paper map on your lap it's pretty hard to go down the wrong track [Music] with the tyre pressure set down low it was off to enjoy the semi [Music] with our camp set up for the sixth night it was time to sit back and watch the colours change on the sand as the sun slowly set [Music] the morning colours were just as nice as the evening colours the night before [Music] we made our way down to the lone gum tree for some reason there's one tree there growing all on its own and nothing else around it [Music] four vehicles on this trip and only one flat tyre we thought that was pretty good we kept our travelling days reasonably short just to make sure that when we set up camp we had plenty of time to sit down and relax at the end of the day before it got dark [Music] we headed off on day eight making our way to popple corner [Music] we had to make a bit of a quick repair to the radiator on the pajero to stop a minor water leak but after that it wasn't too bad we've managed to get through the remainder of the trip [Music] popple corner where northern territory queensland and south australia are all meet at the same location [Music] we're almost to the eastern end of the simpson desert when we set up for our eighth night the camp [Music] the morning light around the camp magical [Music] on the road again before we hit the eastern end of the simpson desert national park [Music] once we reach big red it was a challenge to see who get their vehicles up the front to the top [Music] after putting a bit of air back into the tyres it was off to the birdsfield pub where we had a nice cold beverage in the iconic pub while in birdsville we camped by the billy bong in the caravan park [Music] we had a bit of a drive around birdsville and had a look refueled our vehicles and headed out the road towards cordillo downs where we're going to check the out [Music] cars everywhere at the south australian queensland border everyone's stopping to take a photo [Music] it wasn't long and were seen at cordello downs will shed and this will shed once shore 85 000 sheep in one year from the wool shed it was off to winaminka [Music] once we'd set up our camp at the town common it was off to the pub for tea [Music] the plan for today was to head out to the dig tree and have a look at the monuments and tributes to birken wheels [Music] this one here is burke's monument this one here is the monument to wheels [Music] not much water going over the causeway at inominka [Music] day 12 and most of our group had a slow day resting in enemy lakes for a bit of a look kenji lakes were very pretty to look at we weren't sorry at all that we made the effort to come out and have a look it's a harsh country in the outback but when there's so much water and so much scenery like this it certainly gives you a false impression of how hard it can be when it's dry [Music] day 13 on the trip and it was off this morning to cameron corner driving through on the boar track we paid our appropriate fee when we arrived at the collection box cameron corner certainly is a very isolated outpost [Music] and it's in the new south wales as we make our way to broken hill for the night bit of luxury for us tonight we each had a cabin in one of the caravan parks [Music] it's our last day and we're back in south australia heading home a quick stop at the uluwura fruit fly inspection area it was a quick goodbye to our port augusta companions and then it was off to adelaide to reminisce on such a good trip that we had if you like the video that you just watched give
