Critical Role DEVASTATES Cast and Fans...And Changes The Show FOREVER... (SPOILERS!)

so uh let's talk about that last episode of critical role our regular weekend news rundown will return next week because we need to talk about campaign 3 episode 91 of critical role now this will be a spoiler video so if you haven't watched the episode get away now now in the latest episode of critical role the players had another confrontation with odan thul a major member of the Ruby van guard and a perennial thorn in the side of Bell's Hells fights with odan have been particularly deadly with Bell's Hells the last full encounter resulted in a player character death uh ladna came back she's kind of Undead like that and several others were on the verge of death and the party only really got away because imagin went full Supernova with her powers now again before we dive into what happened in this latest fight please be warned that spoilers are ahead for critical role campaign 3 episode 91 if you haven't watched click away now you were born so the latest confrontation with odan th ended up particularly deadly for both sides as odah Han's OP build in some lucky roles by Matt kept putting PCS either out of commission or on the verge of death in fact early on in the fight on the very first action of the encounter odan killed chatney with a single act activation before he had even had a chance to go and only Sam asking Matt to let him give up his seventh level spell slot to have prepared one final revivify allowed chetney to be brought back to life for 400 years I looked up at the Moon not a bad place to go it looked so much like a tpk was incoming that even Matt was forced to mention the possibility and seemed to be visibly upset at several points during the fight to me it's the end of a story [ __ ] oh my go just means opportunities the encounter seemed to be heading towards a total party kill when Sam wringle did something unexpected with 5 HP left his character fresh cut grass turned a guiding bolt on thems while Matt repeatedly warned Sam of the consequences of his actions Regal chose to have his character self-destruct in order to save his friends and kill a longtime Nemesis of the party fcg went out in a literal Blaze of Glory While most of the cast begged Sam not to do it and Sam delivered the most emotionally devastating gut-wrenching final moments we have ever seen on critical role which left the cast completely broken even in this dark dark cave they make every day a smiley day and so I I just sign off and go now we'll note that again because of Han's build fcg Kill Shot shouldn't have been lethal uh it did 80 damage and because of vahan's build that would have reduced to like 40 damage and that wouldn't have been enough to take odan out however Matt wasn't going to let fcg sacrifice go in vain and let the story Trump tactical rules in this case odan is done for and one of the Ruby vanguard's biggest threats is off the board although it was something of a queen sacrifice or a construct sacrifice in this case the episode ended with the cast in tears fcg and pieces with their core destroyed meaning that they can't be rebuilt and the party seemingly heading back to exandria for a quick exit while it's possible that the party might try to find a way to resurrect fcg who is a construct after all uh the death seemed pretty final especially given that the cast has all paid tribute to fcg on Twitter now this stunning twist is intriguing for a lot of reasons this might be the first true perade death of the series as every other player character save for Bertrand Bell who was always intended to die at the start of campaign 3 has come back in some fashion vax became the Raven Queen's Champion Molly Mo became Lucian and then became Kingsley and so this could be the first character that's gone and gone for good and won't be making any sort of comeback also while we knew that fcg had a self-destruct function the manner in which Sam had his character go out is reminiscent of dagger heart the new RPG developed by critical role darington press you know he went out in a blaze of glory and that is literally one of the death options in the game and finally it was even more Bittersweet to see fcg save chatney who Travis has clearly been angling to move on from for nearly a year only to have to make the ultimate sacrifice so we have no idea what Sam will do next although I'm guessing it will be something creative and deceptively heartbreaking but no matter what character or class Sam picks next it's hard to imagine how anything could top the incredible emotional farewell of the now legendary fcg but if anyone can do it it's Sam Regal honestly critical rooll has once again become appointment viewing for at least the next few weeks so make sure you catch the latest episode and tune in next Thursday let us know what you thought about the latest episode of critical roll uh in the comments and don't forget to hit those like And subscribe buttons [Music]
