an unknown package how mysterious don't have you guys remember but a little while ago I named rocked leisure pro the Amazon of scuba diving in a video we made about quality dive shop service well it turns out that layer pro actually saw that video and reached out to us and we started to have this back and forth conversation which resulted in them asking us if we'd be interested in reviewing some travel gear package and we said yes absolutely what perfect timing we're on our way to feminie and then a few days later this mysterious box showed up at my door so let's figure out what they've sent dear James hope you like it it's Cressy oh hello this I believe always read the manual is the Cressy travel light BCD oh hell yes this is going to be perfect for the bombs [Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen and welcome to divers ready how are you doing out there in YouTube land my name is James and I'm a professional dive instructor and digital content creator and we make films like this where we're reviewing the Cressy travel like BCD so if you haven't done so already considered to hit that subscribe button down there click the little bell icon and then that you'll never miss any of our awesome content so I've bought the Cressy travel like BCD courtesy of leisure Pro to the divers paradise of Bimini and we're gonna head out in a little while with our operator of choice Bimini under seat and take this baby for a test dive and I'll be right back here after we've done that with my thoughts and feelings about diving this BCD and who I think this BCD is best suited for but before I do that I just want to put an announcement out there to all of you subscribers and nonsubscribers who are watching this channel thank you very much for being a part of this awesome community we're just getting to a point now on the channel where we are starting to get people who want us to review their dive gear be that major manufacturers like Cressy or small startup companies that just make a single product whenever it looks like we're doing a review video and it's sponsored or maybe it's not sponsored I will always be 100% honest with the deal that we've made with the manufacturers so starting right now with the Cressy travel like BCP this PCB was sent to us free of charge from leisure pro in new york and i want to say thank you very much leisure pro for doing that we have not received any financial compensation this is not a paid review I'm going to take it for a dime if I love it I will tell you that if I hate it I will also tell you that but the only way I'm going to know if I love it or hate it is if we get this baby wet so let's go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so just got back from the dive fantastic dive thank you so much to Pablo and the team at Bimini undersea for taking us out we really had a great time conditions were optimal we had over 100 feet of vis and barely a breath the current as you can probably see from the dive footage and we hit a couple of really beautiful sites so definitely highly recommended so on to my thoughts and feelings about this be seeding so when I do a review video of anything I don't want to just read off the specs of the BCD because I take it that my viewers are intelligent and that if you're thinking about buying one of these you've already looked it up and you want my opinion about it and not just a list of facts because you can go to the Cressy website and read all it's got you know this amount of lift and it weighs this amount and so on and so forth so I would rather focus on how it actually dives and my thoughts and feelings about who this BCD is right for so with that said how does it dive well first let's start with the fit I would say it fits a little bit snug this is an extra-large I usually take an extra large in be CDs I've owned scuba pros aqualungs and Mary's B CDs all in size extra large they will fit me very very well this was a little bit small so even with like the shoulder strap is probably extended my actual shoulder arm through there was very very tight I'm very tight across the cummerbund and and the waist of chest straps just need a little bit more slack in them for my opinion so so I would definitely recommend to try it on in person if you can or if you're going to buy online at least make sure you check a return policy and make sure you get the perfect fit so I'm not going to list every feature that's on this BCD but what I'm going to do is point out the ones I think are the most important and interesting to me normally when a scuba manufacturer makes a travel BCD the first thing they're thinking about is the weight how can we make the lightest BCD possible and Cressy have achieved that with this BCD but to be honest it's still a feature packed BCD and you get a lot of the bang that you would expect from a full-price non travel b c d or non designated travel BCD that you don't find on other travel B CDs case in point built in trim pockets case in points double cam bands case in point full size pockets so for example if I compare to the Aqualung Zuma the Aqualung Zuma does not come with trim pockets and it does not come with a full sized pocket on both sides it just has one single little fold down pocket you can barely fit a knife bit so yeah normally on a full size BCD they've got stainless steel d-ring stainless steel D rings are heavy so normally on travel BCD they swap them out for plastic Cressy is opted not to do that they've come up with the very light I'm guessing it's an aluminium alloy of some kind and then it's plastic coated to prevent them from corroding and they haven't been shy about them there's plenty of d-rings all over this jacket and it's fantastic also fully integrated weights oXXO clips just they've taken time and they put a lot of details into this jacket and I really appreciate that little things like the pockets actually are vented so they are full size and I think you know I was able to get my real mike my SMB everything safely stored away which you can't normally do and then if you remember at the start of this video the backplate actually folds in half so it comes as a really little tiny package and its own little carry bag so they thought of everything that a travel BCD should be and it's nothing that it shouldn't so how does this BCD died well as for a profile in the water it felt very slim to the body it didn't feel like it was creating a lot of drag at all and this is coming from a guy who dives a backplate and winged nearly all the time so I'm used to no profile at all and to go back to a jacket BCD which I in truth haven't over in a long long time it felt very natural and once I got properly weighted in it and I had barely any air in the BCD at depth it felt like it was very snug to my body so when I review her products obviously I want to look at the comparison if I was in the market for a travel BCD would I buy the crest travel light or would i buy one of the alternatives so the two that I chose to compare this BCD against were the Aqualung Zuma and the spirit probe go both of which are B CDs that I've dived in the past and the first thing that you're going to be surprised about is that the Cressy BCD has the most features for the lowest price currently this retails on leisure Pro for three hundred and seventy nine dollars there are there abouts I think the Aqualung zoo is in the mid 400s and the scubapro go is over 500 so for $200 it's actually at $200 less than the scubapro go and you're getting more features that the scubapro goat doesn't carry so who do I think this BCD is best suited for well obviously the traveling diver I would say a warm water vacation diver would do well to invest in this BCD number one because it packs up so small and is so light in your luggage and number two because it's a great and easy comfortable BCD to dive so you've got that it's got those two things going for it so as a professional scuba instructor and if I was working a busy vacation dive resort would I use this BCD probably not now I'm going to go for something a little bit harder wearing that's meant to take the beatings the professional dive instructors put on their gear during four dives a day six days a week 52 weeks of the year [Applause] so if your Coldwater diver who's used to diving in a dry suit and a backplate weighing and you maybe take one tropical vacation a year three hundred and seventy four dollars isn't a lot to add to your scuba diving arsenal for the sake of saving a hell of a lot of luggage weight and just doing easier dives when you're in the tropics I think it's a it's a great thing like I said I'm a back playing wing diver I'm not going to convert to back to a jacket BCD all the time but it is seriously going to give me pause for thought the next time I'm packing for a tropical trip because of the savings on weight and just the ease of diabetes do I need to bring a back plane with probably not thank you again to leisure pro for sending me the Cressy travel light and for allowing me to dive it because I might not have otherwise and yeah I think it's a fantastic addition to my diving arsenal if you enjoyed this video ladies and gentlemen let me know in the comments below what gear you'd like us to see reviewed next and don't forget to give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it just over here I'm gonna put a video to all of our gear placed videos and below that I'll put a list of all the videos that we made during our time in the Bimini the Bahamas don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already and until next time my name is James this was your divers ready video for this week dive safe and dive often
