welcome back everyone to katherine's plates do we have a lunch idea for you today and it's called pinwheels yes so you can use like any of your lunch meats out of your refrigerator or even you could use like leftover ham or turkey turkey roast beef strawberry pastrami would be good yeah so if you have leftover ham and turkey from the holidays this is great also and we know you have one of these in your refrigerator and it's just crescent rolls in a tube left over from the holidays right you don't know what to do with it yeah well we got an idea for you so got thomas in the kitchen today to help me make this since he's here at lunchtime so we're going to make a creamy mixture for the inside of this first so let's go ahead and bring you up close and get that started for you okay what i have thomas doing right now is slicing up some green onions that we had left over from the holidays this might be one of those things where you can just pull it all out of your refrigerator because it's what you have left over from the holidays like i had some extra cream cheese in the refrigerator so we're going to put that into a medium bowl and i left this out for about over an hour because you want it really soft and spreadable so really i just want to put about half of the cream cheese in here there we go okay i've got some bacon pieces here and we're going to go ahead and add about a quarter cup to our cream cheese this is going to be so tasty how those green onions coming yeah they're coming they're coming all right we're still going i've got some dijon mustard here and i'm going to add about one tablespoon that looks good see that right there those green onions smell good mm-hmm remember right those are good i used to pick those wild and eat them when i was a kid oh how do does anybody know that eating raw onion out of the garden no this was raw yeah that's what i'm saying wrong yeah but it wasn't in the garden just out in the field it was out in the field somewhere oh it may have been a garden at one point in time i couldn't do that oh they were good knock the dirt off of them and eat them okay we got a little bit of salt and pepper so we're just going to add a little bit and then i'm going to have thomas mash this all together using a spatula all right go for it yep get it all nice and creamy someone's gonna have the flavorings like a cheese ball all right that looks really good nice and creamy yeah spreadable oh yeah all right okay now what we're gonna do is work with our crescent roll dough okay so we've got some flour we're just going to very lightly very lightly flour our clean work surface now we're just using the sorry we are just using the back end of a cutting board here all right that's enough you tell me what to do okay and then we're gonna open the crescent rolls here now if you've seen the videos with my son in them he takes crescent rolls and he pops them so i'm just have you do it so he's just holding each hand yeah no major trick there huh no so what we're going to do is take the crescent roll dough out of the package here then the flour yes too much flour it might be a little too much but that's okay i'm going to knock some of that off but you're okay the dog's right there okay so we're just going to lay it and open it up and then we're going to spread the dough out and then we're going to kind of pinch them i'll have you do that side if you have perforated edges on them you can go ahead and just you know close them up and if you don't you have a long sheet that's that's good either way it'll work so we're gonna close it all the way up this way okay we're just gonna take a little bit of the flower here coat our rolling pin and then we're just gonna kind of roll it out a little bit and that thing is like ancient it is ancient how long will we have this oh well did you come with this or did i come up with this i think you might have came with that i wouldn't know what to do with that back in my single days so what we want to do is roll this out as much as we can to get a rectangle all right and we'll just close that okay that looks good now what we're going to do is we're going to take our mixture that thomas just made and we're going to put it all over the crescent rolls here i'm not even saving any for me for later okay so we're going to use some offset spatulas they're really good at kind of smearing stuff and getting it where you want it just a nice thin layer we'll thin this out and then as soon as we get this all on here we're going to bring you back you know if somebody would have cut them green onions a little smaller this might be easier to spread it's working it's working fine beautifully just steal some of yours over here i think that's perfect i think that's good yep i think that's good sweet all right now what we're gonna do is we're gonna get our lunch meat okay we've got some ham what do we got we got some rotisserie seasoned chicken and we've got some cracked black pepper turkey turkey well if you can call that idiot in there yeah that's my son he's a turkey uh-holic so what we're gonna do is we're gonna take the slices and we're just going to lay them across probably like three three there of each one so three ham just think of all the different choices that you could do with this and then this on there yep okay guys go down into the comments and let me know what you want to put on to your pinwheels the next thing what we need is cheese whether you use a sliced cheese or shredded cheese like this or put your own cheese shredded on top that's totally fine this is a mild cheddar and monterey jack cheese let's give some great flavor yup so i'm gonna have thomas can open it there you go spread it across here if you make the bag a little bit bigger i can't get my hand in there this is some good cheese we like to make eggs and sprinkle the cheese on top of it the monterey jack cheese is so good hey hey oh yeah the dog is saying that to you that's my job don't infringe on my job i already gave you your job oh okay okay y'all seen him take tidbits off of my show okay what i'm making yeah that's that's what i do that's my thing okay we're gonna keep you really close right here so that you can see how we're gonna roll this up now and that's why the flower okay to keep your crescent rolls from sticking to whatever work surface you're on okay so i'm trying to get thomas oh oh god yeah so just pick up a corner and right there and what you want to do is just take it a little bit just a little bit like right here yep and then you want to roll again keep it all even got it sure sure and then just keep rolling tightly make sure it's tight oh like a cigar yeah sure all right that's looking really good yeah get somebody in the kitchen and help you roll yes there we go see then you can dust some of the flour off if you want not a big deal okay now what we're going to do is cut these now if you have a serrated knife that's always helpful so you can cut down the center right here where you it's already kind of serrated right there so we're just going to cut down the center and then we're going to cut these in half and then like in half that kind of keeps it even you want them thin that looks good and then i'll have you do the other side you want me to do it you gotta tell me what you want to do the serrated knife really helps to keep it you know not gathering into itself yeah i'll i'll uh i'll eat he'll eat it all right here okay good she's gonna go for the other one [Music] okay so what we're going to do now is move this off to the side and we're going to bring our pan over here and it has some parchment paper on it and then we're just going to take one and then you just lay them right here just give them a little room to grow and then i guess i'll have thomas help with that while i get an egg and i'm gonna beat it up so we're gonna do like an egg wash [Music] all right i had to bring him back in here he thought he was gonna go take a nap i've tried like we're not done yet okay so got my egg in a bowl here i'm just whisking it up really good and then thomas has got his little pastry brush oh man you could at least call it a meat brush or something pastry a manly brush all right that should do good all right now you're just going to coat each of the pinwheels make sure you get the bread on the sides this will give them a nice golden brown color to them these look so good what an easy lunch idea where you don't have to you know put your lunch meat between some bread i have some other ideas and i'll list them down below for lunch ideas too if you want to go check those out okay i think we got these all coated with our egg wash now what we're going to do is place these in our oven that's been preheating at 350 degrees for about 14 to 18 minutes just keep an eye on it and we're looking for these to be done nice and golden brown on the edges and on the bottoms of these got them all yep yeah there we go okay we just pulled these out of the oven and they were in there for 18 minutes now what we're going to do is just allow them to sit on the pan and rest for just a few minutes and then we're going to try these for you okay take a look at these oh my goodness nice and golden brown all around on the back side we let these rest for just a few minutes that way they can pull themselves all together okay got my husband thomas back over here so we can try these for you okay oh that's good that is so good there are so many flavors in there it's a party in your mouth and a green onion okay it is a party in your mouth for sure and just think of all the variations you can do to make your own pinwheels oh my gosh it's limitless right comment down below what you're putting in your pinwheels we're going to be pairing our pinwheels with a broccoli salad this was a like a packet of broccoli slaw and then i just made a light dressing for it it's been sitting in the refrigerator for
