hello this is unreal kingdom and today i'll be showing you how to use emissive materials on a 3d text to have that nice glow effect in your game so first off you should well in this example i'm using the the kid bash 3d asset pack which is free on their website they're just called neocities uh kid bash 3d i'll link that in the description below you could just use it in your scene but uh if you want to use that i'll leave that in the description anyway i created a new scene i i changed the sky a bit i'm using the ultra dynamic sky blueprint uh it's an asset pack which i'll think that as well since it's easily editable and you can create a really nice scene in the less time or where if you're using the sky the sky atmosphere and all that stuff which is built in unreal i do think that in unreal version 5 that they'll be using something more like the dynamic sky blueprint so i would definitely recommend that over on rails process at least right right now and i should note that uh in order to use the uh 3d text you have to have a unreal version 4.25 or greater it's just going to be in go to edit plugins search for text and just enable that which i already did and restart your editor so once you have your scene open and in this case i already created that scene you search for checks right over here drag that in where you want the text to show and create a new material for the glow effect okay what i did right there i just held down three they left clicked then convert to parameter color or you could just search for a vector it can be a constant factor three which yeah no it's not that one no maybe let me just check this one again okay because i converted that to a parameter but it is the constant three vector to write that at a multiply node and convert this to a parameter because i am going to create an instance of this so you can add two other assets check there's two emissive color change this color to i guess i'm gonna use green right here and this value i'll just make it like 15 or so i'm gonna drag this into the base color too i don't think that really changes anything okay just set a little higher to uh 30 and uh we could make it look a little nicer by uh maybe adding a subsurface color or a reflective i think it's like right here i won't do that right now let me just uh finish this part up so once you have your material for the glow effect you want to go to your 3d text actor and plug this into the material slots you could edit the size here too you know what i don't think oh yeah i think it's this this is the uh spacing maybe uh put text here that has a space let me check this one out i yeah i guess you could edit the scaling right here or just do it here so but i guess we should be doing it here this is what it seems like you do like 300 maybe 400 was good yeah if you didn't see that it's just 400 for the width and 200 for the height and if you are using the dynamic sky blueprint it is paid but uh i could link what i did there i did adjust the scott the sun's angle and i changed the height fog or you could just if you just do a search for uh sky right here it could use the sky atmosphere and skylight i think then you would use the blueprint as well and just edit that yourself to make it look however you want but it's pretty time consuming anyway that should be it for the video i don't think i missed anything just download that asset back drag that to your uh to wherever you save your unreal project open that up in unreal version 4.25 or greater down the plugin which uh just edit plugins in 3d text and you should be good to go and creating the material so that should be it thanks if there's any suggestions on what to uh and what to do for my next video just leave a comment below and let me know see ya
