hi today we're going to make an auto angel but first we have to make a beaded cluster ball and i'll show you how join us [Music] hi this is tweek today we're going to make what i call auto angels what are auto angels years ago i went to a craft show and i found a little angel made of beads i'm talking decades folks and she hung in my car under the rear view mirror for years decades again she went from car to car as we changed cars and um i cannot find this pattern and i'm afraid to take her apart to figure out how to make her so i came up with a different idea of a little angel that you'd hang in your car rear view and i call them auto angels first thing to make the base of the auto angel we have to make a beaded cluster ball for this project you will need your choice of beads i prefer round beads because it's easier for me to make the cluster some wire a scissors some pliers and then some bead findings such as bead caps and some crimping beads this is the part where your own creativity comes in what colors you want to use i'm going to go with the iridescent purple today and basic start up for this cluster ball you will need 30 beads and the easiest way to do this i found is to put them in a pattern of how you're going to use them so we're going to use five beads as we make the ball then we're going to use four then three this may seem silly but it really helps as you're going along especially if you're learning like i was keep track of each step and the beads you use i'm gonna make sure i've got everything here two oh there's three i'll come back and check 30 beads total your choice so we've got first step is five beads and four then three then three then three then two and three beads then two beads two beads two beads and one that is your pattern that you're going to string onto the wire so i can put away the rest of these you will not need them you want to have more than less because if you make up make a mistake along the way to have extra wire is better than not to have enough so i've got a long piece here it's a little over 40 inches that's okay we start out by taking your wire and you're going to string the first five beads onto this wire so we go one two three [Music] four five we have the start of our cluster ball five beads and i'm gonna buddy up these ends here and i'm gonna pull those five beads to the center of the wire and what you're gonna be doing is make this cluster ball is you're going to making pentagons you're going to make a series of five beads that work its way around to form the cluster ball five beads here now left and right i've got a right side of my wire and a left side there's a lot of wire there but just hang in there you'll be fine you take the left side and you go through the last bead on that line of beads so throughout this pattern you're going to be taking the left side wire and running it through the last bead on the wire so now we've got this the little pentagon i was telling you about what i want to do here is make sure this has not slipped too far off center i'm going to need to see how far off center it went so i'm just going to play around with the beads a little bit so i can get this evened out a little more and that's just a matter of see maneuvering the wire let's see if i got a little bit closer there and that's close enough you've got it in front of you you have a right side wire and you have a left side wire okay now the next in line we're going to add four beads to the right side wire you can do this wire you can do this with string i like the wire because it gives a little more stability and strength to the ball when it's done so that's why i'm using the wire four strung on the right side as you pull that down you take the left wire and push it through let me clean up that edge a little bit it'll make it easier have a curl on it okay so we're going to push this wire through back through cross it over into the last bead and you pull this together now you've got two little rings of five little pentagons [Music] and i'm gonna take see i flipped it over towards me i'm gonna take this wire and i'm gonna go back through the one bead that's closest to this one and i'll show you what we have here now we have the two little pentagons the two little circles five with a little v between them see that and i have this facing me there's a left side and there's a right side next we're going to put on the right side i string on the right side we're going to put three beads going right down our list here three beads so you're always beating from the right side and crossing over from the left side there's three how's that going to make a five well when you cross over it's going to meet up with those two and it's going to make another five so we're crossing through see that and as you pull through come on guys stay up here and it makes it meets up and you make another series of five i'm turning flipping this back around towards me again starting to cup a little bit see it's starting to make the shape that we want was this ball shape so i take this that was the left side there well it's still his left side and i'm going to push it through the next bead the whole thing here is you want to keep making a series of five if you're doing a bigger bead you had six beads you'd always do a series of six but for this one series of five and now that's what we have there see that i've still got the curve of this it's starting to curve towards me the left side and the right side now we're going to go three more beads three beads on the right side [Music] one two three [Music] and as you pull it towards you take the left side and you string it back through cross over through that last bead and you've got another set of five see that turn it towards me to keep it towards me and i'm going to buddy up those two this one the next one to it on its left and i'm going to go through that bead and we've just made another [Music] series of five see that again we have a right side and a left side and that's what looks like you're getting like a cute little cap going here next part let's see if i get off track my 5 4 3 3 i can go backwards i've got 1 2 2 2 3 2 3. so i'm on this stage right here let's see take the three and we're going to string them on to the right side these beads are so pretty they've got a iridescent quality to them one two three and as you pull it down when we add this in it's gonna form another circle of five come to that last bead pull it through [Music] we have another circle of five now this time i'm trying to hold it taut so as this wire gets a little curlier as you keep stringing with it what i do is i keep my thumb cupped in see how that's forming a little half of like a turtle shell i keep my thumb cupped in there to help me stay oriented so i have two beads i want to pick up on this side with the left side wire i'm trying to work my way into that one bead so you picked up two so now when you add the next two beads here's your right side and your left side the curl is facing you that like the shell is upside down just keep oriented so we add two beads on the right and when you bring the left side in and catch that last bead across back now you've got another set of five see how that worked out so you've got a little half circle done half your cluster is done and now we're going to be adding less beads because we're going to making this circle close back in on itself and to secure that all around i'm going to go through one b down the left with the left wire [Music] there we go there's our half shell that's secured now on the right side i'm gonna add three beads remember we're making a series of five in each little ring so whatever the combination of beads you add when you get it down on the wire it's going to add up to five take the left wire come through the last bead on that line you strung cross it through we've got the next part there's five now let me check to make sure got that many more beads to go and i'm going to pull through two okay [Music] facing the shell towards me put your thumb in there so i'm gonna do the two next beads next to this bead we just came from using the left wire we're gonna go down there for that one pull it through [Music] and then we're gonna pick up the next one okay come on eyeballs i need you to work here we go okay that's where you are your left side your right side okay i'm going to take the right side and add two beads [Music] one two i'm going to bring the left side wire and cross through that last bead on that set you did pull it through got our neck see it's becoming more of a ball now face it towards you as far as thumb in there that's what helped me a lot this time again right side left side using that left side we're going to go through the next two again so you go down a little bit for that one that's going on here okay wire gets cooling that gets fun here we go one and then up again two and what you're doing is you're setting up another series of five okay see one two three and when we add the next two on the right side one two left side wire comes over crosses through that last one [Music] i've got another set of five there okay i'm facing this towards me you put your thumb in there if you like to using that left wire go through another two one still room in there just don't worry still room is good to get the wire through the beads one two [Music] okay we have another set of two right side left side put on two one two then we're going to cross over with left wire through that last bead pull through and we have our last [Music] little group of five done so we have one more bead to add and what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna go through using that left see facing me left and right i'm going to go through three beads on this one three let's see there's one we're finishing off the circle one two three [Music] now we're going to add this last bead on the right side bring the left side through done there you have your beaded ball and now it's time to finish up the angel that's what i do now is i take a crimping bead come to the end of this wire and you can see when i said you use so much wire in the beginning look how uneven it came out but i have plenty left here to do what i want so i'm going to snip off to get those evened out i'm going to get a crimping bead and pull real tight to that bead and that's where i'm going to start finishing off the rest of my auto angel so i need a cramping bead here let's find i'll need a couple more of it and i'm going to push these two wires through the crimping bead and as best i can even that out over that one bead so that my angel's going to hang nicely [Music] using my pliers i'm going to tighten that down and crimp the bead she's moving let's put her down and do it that way [Music] okay and clip the bead okay now that's all secure now it's time to embellish my angel um i want to put on like i use some of these findings these actually come from christmas tree garland i just take the bead caps off right today i think i'm going to use this one here [Music] and you're putting just a little lip or a little collar on your angel then unless i wanted to embellish more i think i want to add another little bead cap finding this is all just how you want to decorate your angel okay then she needs a head no i kind of like this one but it might be way too big i love the bead it's very very iridescent here we go ah that's a little better the size is a little better then i want to add a little bit of a cap to her let's see do i want to use one of these bead caps here i think that's too much i'll use here's one that's kind of pretty a little bit ornate whatever you have kicking around just throw it on range and see if you like it okay i'm liking that now she needs a bit of a crown i had several options for crowns i had these little beads that have rhinestones in them there's tiny ones there's big ones i think i'm gonna go with just one of these here [Music] there's her little yeah i think i like that and now i want to fill in some of the gap on the top there oh here let's try this one i want to fill the gap a little bit in her little crown there so i'm using a tiny another little finding see that's cute am i done i think i'm done let's add another crimping bead to hold that all together oh she's getting shiny so i just brought the crimping bead down on the wire and buddy up next to that last crimp bead or that last bead i put there and i'm just going to crimp the bead that's going to stay put she is secure now because i want to hang a car rear view mirror or in a window would be nice i'm going to use another crimping bead and crimp the edge come here crimping beads they're very very tiny and i have big fingers so let's put the wire up there now i want to make sure it's smooth and decide how much of a length i'd like [Music] and crimp the bead [Music] and i trim off some of that excess and there you have it an auto angel happy to hang and travel with you wherever you go and i cannot wait to have you sitting there traveling with me if you like what you've seen here today give us a like subscribe
