my first guest tonight is a very talented actress very very clever indeed she starts in the newsroom which the second season premieres July the 14th on HBO which is that's premium cable isn't it yeah have you even got premium cable you're not watching this show four days in jail on Rikers Island today he is free to go home to France we'll be back after this talk to missed it Emily it's so lovely to see you I haven't seen you in a dog's age I know I went the researcher said it hadn't been for some time and I said it was before I left Los Angeles which was about 10 years ago and she said no it was three years ago yeah no we haven't been on the air ten years right you won't be on the air another ten days I don't think after that she warned me oh my god it's there the walls yes all right be friendly it's very disconcerting no he's bowing to you charge at me no charging his extra she warned me about the wars and the robot both robots fine he's just doing that no you're still English I see yeah we were just talking about don't now be earlier on and then Jeff and I were pretending to be English will be any good has it you were brilliant you're brilliant at everything oh stop it I don't know whether I saw it but I know that you were brilliant you were right there I was just worrying about what I was worried don't worry it's all right I tell you I won an award since you were here last what did you win an award for I don't know you're brilliant English accent yes that's right possibly do you do accents and other in other shows and things sometimes really well I do what's your favorite I can do a Russian accent can't you really yes you speak Russian yes really yes go she's the accent I can say like in a Russian accent I can say I had a boyfriend who was Russian and all he could say in English was hello my name is Tony Dakota I am an astronaut from Minnesota but do you miss Aysen well what can you say very rude lots of very real no you can unfortunately because they're on to us with that we used to we used to say naughty words another language isn't a we snuck a few Oh and then they you know they brought an interpreters and Google and all sorts peak Russian have you been to Russia yes Russia where have you been to Moscow I've been there yes you see Lenin's tomb yes it did I thought move much I thought it would be no if it was if this was here you know the animatronic him a little bit so I'd wave or get up someone said that someone said it was in the guidebook or something that someone had seen his ear fall off as they walked past yes I don't believe that oh dear I did I don't know I mean if you've been lying in a sort of I don't think it's 50 years that you would think your ear might fall oh wow I don't see there's a big rumor a conspiracy theory that is not him at all oh really yes it's played by an actor and I live it a living actor yes an actor who comes and he's like mornin George morning Ted and he comes anything good lies and he's like and then when they close at the end of the day he gets up and goes home I don't know how much you get paid for that it's a living have you ever been to st. Petersburg I have what a beautiful city it's like burning it's like Paris but you know yes or Amsterdam or all of those places yeah it's great really very beautiful I loved it there very very nice indeed what were you doing there we act I was um I was studying yes I went as part of my degree I went to study Russian in Moscow I studied Russian in English University and then I went for a year to Moscow but by then I already had decided I wanted to be an actress and so I went to the Moscow arts theater and studied acting there and I fell madly in love before I met the Russian guide that could only say my name is Toni Dakota I'm an astronaut for Minnesota yes I fell madly in love with the guy that was teaching me acting who didn't notice that I was madly in love with him and I didn't notice he was incredibly boring because he was so handsome there I think that's happened to some women before you actually there yes they thought someone was handsome and the men they thought that meant interesting as well yes it happened for many months I thought he was so wonderful because he was so good-looking but then he came to my house with a lot of other people from the school and we all got very very drunk and he took me out onto the balcony oh and I thought my god this my mom oh here we go yeah and he started sort of declaiming and looking at the moon and talking about the moon in a sort of romantic fashion and I was only behind him and I was so drunk and I suddenly realized I needed to be sick but I you were pretty drunk but I didn't want to leave because I thought I can't leave this moment has come and I he's talking about the moon and there he is and so I was very quietly sick into my hands and he kept going but he was so delighted with himself did he didn't notice didn't notice the girl behind him was vomiting quietly and did you I took it to the lid oh you took away with you that oh excuse me that's lovely lovely enchanting romantic story no no it's fine listen the newsroom's great Jeff died he was in he's very funny and he he's awesome yeah yeah I know he's very funny I'm he's not funny in the shore asleep body there yeah but it's not I don't think I mean he's very charismatic and slightly grumpy no on the side if you were sick into your hands you'd be like what are you doing I he'd be very forgiving I'm sure that you is there a phase in life that you go through where handsomeness is enough but then you have to add to it like you you're attracted to a handsome young actor but then later on you think well I'm gonna need more than just being able to talk to the moon yes I think because I think for a lot of people that it's fine just to stay there particularly the the man who are talking to the moon it's rather funny but you've got it all you're handsome and funny and very interesting and very clever and extremely successful yeah you going to be sick or something you have to take a break we'll be right back with Emily I loved when I said Emily oh we were just talking and then she said I said we're back and she said a word that you're not allowed to say I could say it in Russian no I can't Wow you can see it in Russian and they would bleep it in American but I don't know what it is in Russian so can just go ahead and say it well the complicated what's that come and I go that's a whole phrase yeah what's that come and I go but that's terrible that's terrible does anybody know that no okay there's gonna be a lot of Ukrainian no there's no because they'll be / anyway just because you know so the Ukrainian people like why we came here for freedom of speech got some funk in their eyes at the moment about me and my language have you got a foul mouth I am I'm a little bit cut see as a as a man I'm I swear far too much is I think it's quite a British thing though I think British people swear a lot yes use it as time we use swearing is a kind of way of being affectionate with each other right by an American nose but I can't do it anymore are you an American citizen oh I am well then very recently about three or four years ago consider considering being here many years from my mother-in-law that I cannot say the word that we cannot say don't even think it well cuz she said to me something like what's this person like and I said well they're very nice but you couldn't say that word yes yes she said well and I went oh my god you all I can't say that what in front of you right yeah but you know what word you can say is Fanny Fanny's absolutely fine right bonny is fine no the thing is funny in Britain oh you mustn't say fine well you can't see finally as long as it's someone's name but when you start seeing what it is you get a frosty reception anyway that that's so it's you know you can say fanny do it did you ever see that my hairdresser who is well a hairdresser awhile ago after I had this conversation with my mother-in-law about the conversation and he's Scottish right I was saying and he was saying yeah there it's crazy in in Scotland particularly as a term of effect it actually is a term of affection you would say I love you you absolutely yeah yeah but you say here they call the police yeah well you know different strokes for different folks of all the people know but what I was telling us like she like no tell me tell me in the commercial break it was a commercial paid sure he said how are you enjoying being in America and I was about I was telling you this story about my little girl in the back of the car the other day he was singing along to a Disney song from am I allowed to say Disney yes you can say Disney although it is a cuss word in certain parts of America are they gonna believe it I know they were anyway and she was singing along to this the theme tune from Sophia the princess or something way and then I can't sing but the words were something like I'm I can be anyone and I can do anything and I can see anyone and I can be anything and I was thinking good isn't that interesting if you were a child in England singing that song you sort of be short be anything we'll see about that I always thought if Billy Joel had been Scottish right he was saying bottle of red bottle of white you think you're great but your bollocks yeah well they know is you know it's something that rhymes with white oh that's it we're we're out of time we're done oh good would you be no-go you
