so [Applause] strong whenever making Landscapes I like to just kind of play around with things put pieces together that I've cut before scraps that sort of thing I started making this in wood and after a good deal of time found out that I'd rather make it in foam it's easier to make it more exaggerated textures and add prefer to work with [Music] it always use a sharp knife oh dispose of your knives properly [Music] oh yeah it's satisfying I use this 2in foam only the problem is it's pre-scored by the manufacturer to be cut for insulation I ended up just putting glue to hold the cuts together and face them so that you could see it easily I really like the way making the landscape near the curve of the bridge felt [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] difficult to make mini sit on a curved surface so I tried to put a few logs out at AO angles to hold the uh bases down also somehow didn't notice at this point that this is wildly out of scale these planks are like trees and I've cut the fences to be the same height as a person oh wow the design of this is heavily inspired by an artist the name of Scott Gustafson called The Three Billy Goat scuff I really liked the design of having only one set of handrails so that it's easier to see what's on the actual bridge and the sort of casual slap Dash nature of having tree branches be the handrails [Applause] [Music] [Music] this is the first time I used my text train saw to actually saw something it worked surprisingly well at first it was difficult to figure out how to simulate tree branches pieces of water too straight foam would be incredibly fragile at this size then remember the um tree armatures that I have are perfectly flexible and strong so just cut off threee branches to serve as tree branches [Music] [Applause] [Music] I noticed at this point how precarious the bridge was so I used some Mod Podge to firm It Up made a surprising difference as to how strong the bridge itself was there's no internal Armature to it it's just f with the Mod Podge added to it it holds the weight of the plaster just fine it's really happy with this paint job I think what ended up being so successful for me is the not being quite sad satisfied with any of the colors I was using so I get layering on more and more and each of those layers ends up showing a little bit through the final product so gets that complexity that real things have also I didn't really know what I wanted until I saw the colors that weren't what I wanted [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] something I borrowed from that artwork I was talking about earlier was the subtle gradation from the outside to the inside becoming more light I really like the effect it had GE gaming Scenic stuff is amazing you honestly can just dump it on plaster foam and have a 3/4 done or fully done if you feel like it landscape [Music] making some Ivy climbing the handrails figuring how to get the leaves on here was a challenge these leaves are I think they're seed pots they're perfect for leaves though got a lot of landscaping elements from from a thrift store actually a train modeler retired their hobby gear and so I have all these wonderful little trees and [Music] bushes and here's the final result I hope you enjoyed [Music] a
