I saw the whole movie, when does James not follow orders? Is it after the bombardment when the officer tells them to get the Vickers gun and he reacts slowly?

I am slightly confused. The court marshal seems like it took place on British/Allied territory, hence the warm and "safe" lighting and being on the inside. Builds, and alludes to, a safety net. I totally got the vibe that they weren't anywhere near the front line. However, it ends with the sentence being carried out on the front line.

Just watched that on lunch hour. Beautifully made. Awesome acting.

It's not easy to convey something so brutal and visceral as WWI, and I think that did it justice. Anyone ever feel like you're so overwhelmed by your tasks, and so convinced that there's nothing you can do, that you just sit there? I think that's what shellshock is like, and that's what I felt and saw in this short.

But now I have to drive back to work thinking about that. Ugh.
