Couple Adopting Baby Discovers Birth Mom Faked Pregnancy

roughly a hundred thirty-five thousand children are adopted every year and this couple desperately wanted to adopt they connected with a pregnant woman and rushed cross-country to be present when the baby was to be born only the woman wasn't pregnant and their hopes to adopt were dashed Lisa Guerrero with a cautionary tale all hopeful parents should watch we are on our way to the hospital right now to meet our baby girl oh my god this woman is ecstatic she's rushing to the hospital with her husband to finally see the child they've been waiting to adopt for three months worth scrambling to the hospital and you couldn't find a more dramatic situation the birth mom told them she just delivered their baby we have a baby girl all right more to come in a little bit hello it's Elizabeth this is the birth mom 34 year old Elizabeth Jones she contacted Matt and Laura trait after learning on Facebook they were seeking to adopt a child Laura and the birth mom immediately bonded they took pictures together Laura made special shirts Elizabeth wearing a birth mom strong shirt and Laura adoptive mom strong Elizabeth even shared a sonogram I frequently called her our hero because you know she was making this dream come true for us how does this make you feel when you look at this photo I felt like I had found the perfect person to be a part of our extended family and that you know our relationship was based on the love for this baby when the due date arrived the couple traveled with their son from Southern California to eastern Tennessee to be there for the birth that's when they received frantic text messages from Elizabeth who said she was in an ambulance baby is ready to come out I got a push then I'm sorry I have to push her out I can't keep her in any longer finally oh my god we have a baby oMG all the time the traits are rushing to the hospital she was texting saying the baby was born in the ambulance so Laura pulled out her phone and we recorded this this video the three of us as we were driving to the hospital we waited so long for this but when they arrived at the hospital they were in for a big shock our nurse came over and she says there's somebody here by that name but she checked herself in she didn't come by ambulance she's checked herself in for a lower back and pelvic pain she's not even pregnant did it occur to you that she was lying to you all the time I was so confused and so that never entered my mind that she was possibly never pregnant to begin with that never entered my mind there's the big belly but it was sadly true she was never even pregnant I wanted to ask her why she would fake a pregnancy the traits are extremely upset they said that what you did was cruel and despicable do you have any explanation for what you did why did you lie about being pregnant and giving birth Elizabeth Jones was arrested and pled guilty to eight felonies in connection with the adoption fraud the traits have advice for adoptive parents hire an attorney that specializes in adoptions to guide you through the process get a proof of pregnancy from the birth mom's doctor do a background check on the birth mom and explore social media groups that discuss adoption scams there are no words to describe just the shock trauma and pain Elizabeth why did you hurt this couple the family believes the woman faked the pregnancy to get attention she's now serving two years in prison [Music] you [Music]
