welcome in to another edition of the cattle ears starting nine alongside Joe Pratt Lily Butler I'm Tyler danberg and we're here to get you ready for game 27 of the cape League regular season the Wareham gatemen come to town to take on the cotuit kettle ears and ketuate extending their win streak to five Joe yesterday with a big win and how they do it and what caught your eye well a big six to one win it started off with a million petray he had a big blast there in the second inning and then the offense really seemed to get going the bottom half of the order particularly James McCoy those guys down there they've been getting a lot of hits these past couple games that's really why this offense has been really great in these past few they put up 16 against Hyannis and then six last night and I think that's part of just the bottom half of the order setting the table for the top half and them just doing what they do getting hits putting the ball in play and good things happen and it really did last night 6-1 win over Harwich the first time the cats have top the Mariners this year Lily what stood out to you well of course the pitching was outstanding just three arms on the mound for the cats last night Jake gigliotti got it started out good with four scoreless frames and then five strikeouts during those four Innings and after that was just phenomenal as well only allowing one run the whole game so of course that played a big factor in last night's win and of course pitching most likely going to make a huge impact in this one Cameron Hill going to make his fourth straight start and seventh appearance for the cotuit kettle ears yeah of course Tyler Cameron Hill has been doing an absolutely outstanding job on the mound for the cats I think he has seven appearances and throwing just above a 0.4 era so lots of strikes thrown from Cameron Hill and that's going to be very important tonight wareham's pitching staff at the bottom of the league but they're looking to get a boost today with Gavin black the future Mississippi State Bulldog yeah I spent two years at Northwest Florida State Community College and so he's making his move to Mississippi State this fall but first a little summer trip here with the gateman and he's made a couple appearances so far one thing that's going to be really important for black today throwing strikes throwing strikes early one thing that's going to be important for the cattle ears is to work those counts early and that's something that they've done really well they did it yesterday working up some walks and that's something that's definitely going to play a big role today in base runners and getting on by walks and obviously base hits a beautiful mid-summers night what can get any better than this we've got Wareham we've got kid to it and we've got action for you next on the cattle ears digital Network thank you [Music] [Music] he hits it high and deep to left field this ball is crossed foreign ers.org hi everybody and welcome into the kennel ears digital Network I'm Tyler danberg alongside Joe Pratt Lily Butler Liam Barrett and Abigail lot and Joe what a picturesque day outside we've got a good ball game for you just another perfect day here in cotuit another great day to have a baseball game and a great day for the Cavaliers to look to get their sixth win in a row boy they have been on a tear Tyler five straight and today they're going up against the struggling Wareham gatemen who have now plummeted to the number five spot in the west division so a number one against the number five tonight Wareham desperately looking to climb back in uh to that four spot in the division as Falmouth overtook that last night an opportunity for them to also on the other side further continue their stronghold that they have on this number one spot in the west division and it's Cape Cod Five night here at Lowell Park Cape Cod Five providing us with a lot of free stuff and a great first pitch right there and so we are just minutes away from getting started first pitch here on the kettle ears digital Network could to it currently the hottest team on the cape right now a five-game winning streak that is the longest by a cape League team this year they're coming up a 6-1 win against Harwich we were talking about it a little bit on the kettle ears starting nine that was one that took a little bit of timely hitting and a lot of pitching along the way yeah it definitely did it was just one run in that second inning for the Cavaliers and then they added three more to take a four nothing lead in the third and it was just the pitching after that they took that four nothing lead the arms were great for cotuit it was gigliotti with the start he went Four Strong struck out five Finn McElroy went two plus he was great only allowed two base runners and two scoreless frames and then Cole Mathis we've used that name so much especially on the offensive side of the ball but he picks up another hold last night going two in a thirds Innings gave up one run it was unearned and he played the first seven Innings at first base he did a great job over there and with the bat in his hands we can't say enough about how he has Banning reach base twice last night in four plate appearances but tonight pitching definitely going to be a premium as we got one of the best arms in the league and the best out of this ketuit staff so far this year in Cameron Hill and Hill will go for the fourth straight Stark this is his seventh appearance in total for a kid to it pitching staff overall that has a 3-6-3 earn run average when which is second in the league and Cameron Hill currently leading the league in Era himself a .44 earner on average that is the only Mark in the league among eligible pitchers below one Hill has just been a force for the catalers on the mound so far and it's been that fastball that has guided him to get ahead and count something that he does really well and you know when we ask him we say what's your favorite pitch cam Hill he always says his fastball he loves to rely on the fastball it's right around 93-94 he got up to 95-96 the last time he was on the mound he was really feeling himself in that eight to six win against Hyannis he went five strong giving up just two hits he's given up five hits across seven appearances so that is just an unbelievable Mark for cam Hillen as a starter we were kind of maybe a little bit hesitant to give our thoughts on how he might be as a starter but he has shined in this new role as a starter for the Cavaliers and and looking to do more of that today Bobby boser will lead things off he's due up for this Wareham gateman 9. what does that first half of the order look like Bobby Bowser right at the top Sebastian Murillo bats after him and plays short Garen Caulfield the DH bats third Tommy Spillane that's fur fourth plays first base Grant Sherrod the left fielder bats fifth here's the first pitch of the day and it's a sharp fastball at 93 upstairs for ball one and the final four Dorian Gonzalez second base batting sixth Yadi Hernandez the catcher at seventh poser flips one foul lost and Harrell right fielder bats eighth Josh Stevenson in center field at the nine spot and that will be for Gavin black who will be pitching to make his second start third appearance Cameron Hill count even at one and one the crazy thing about Cameron Hill he has faced 76 batters he's retired 84 of those batters he's faced this year one two coming to Bowser to hear him grunting a little bit he's really putting a lot of power into these pitches he puts a lot of emphasis on that fastball especially and he'll get better as the game goes on that was around 93. those are working the count that's what Wareham does really well the top walking team in the league that's exactly what you're looking for out of your lead off man and Bobby Bowser against cam Hill you want to try to make him uncomfortable and it'll take Ball Four there and that's just a rough start for hell and that's exactly how he started two starts ago here at Lowell Park where he put the Bases Loaded in the first inning but he escaped that really nicely that was against yd a game that he went three strong and he only let up one run in that first inning but throwing strike is going to be really important and let's see how he bounces back from that walk yeah in that game July 2nd in the win against the Red Sox Hill proceeded after giving up that run to retire seven of his final eight batters now Sebastian morillo the Long Beach State transfer to Georgia will step in writing a 10 game on Bay streak as for Bowser he draws his 19th walk that is second in the league behind David glancy where Ham gateman player it's 1-0 on Murillo slider tied in for a strike David glancy no longer with the gate men right now but he was a model of consistency up there in that lineup for first year manager Rob Smythe Morello who has played in almost every game this year we'll await this long looking pitch he's playing in 21 games now the gateman 10 14 and 2.2 in a league best 19-7 and he's ahead of the count three and one through 10 pitches seven of them have been balls for the League's top arm in Cameron Hill [Applause] what do you think he goes to here on three and two I think he's got to find the Zone can't afford to walk another guy I think he goes fastball and I'm sure morillo is expecting that here bouncing ball in the hole to short Norris throws to Second there's one over to First not in time [Applause] they get the lead runner at second a fielder's choice for Murillo well he went to the breaking ball there and for a good reason I mean that's a pitch that he can Place incredibly well especially in the zone early in counts often trying to mess up the timing of guys and he does so there against morillo he rolls over it and gets that first out of the inning good job by Hill Karen Caufield looks at a strike on the infield for the Cavaliers at third Josh Pine Grant Norris who made that play he's that short P Trey who finished that play he's at second Jacob Tobias at first Caleb Loma Vita Owen one to Caulfield Runner goes Loma vida's throw got him at second the base is clear as Loma Vita guns out a runner description what a throw by Loma Vita there and now Camille can take a big deep breath and that's exactly what he does on the back of the rubber there that's got to give you some extra confidence as a pitcher his catcher really picks him up there as the runner was trying to get into scoring position would have been a much different situation one out with a speedy Sebastian Marilla on second but not so fast says Loma Vita there's two gone count two and two on Caulfield four multi-hit games this year reach Basin is first 13 in every single one of those that Arizona Connection in the three and four spot Caulfield and then Tommy splain and splain's been piecing things together he's on deck the 2-2 lifted into shallow Center Norris ranging out he hauls it in and the side is retired so Cameron Hill allows a lead-off walk then gets a fielder's Choice Kayla blumovita catches Murillo stealing and a Garen cough feel pop out the shallow Center ends the threat we go to the bottom of the first and the ketuate offense coming up for the first time today 24th for the induction of Fred McGriff and Scott Roland as the class of 2023 visit baseballhaul.org today for the entire schedule see you in Cooperstown where the journey becomes Legend Cape Cod coffee is a proud visiting kotuitketaliers.org blog stay in touch with the cats on our social media you can follow us on Facebook Twitter and Instagram the get to an offense coming up for the first time today and they are the third top offense in the league 262 average who will get things started for at the top of the lineup for the Cavaliers Brock Wills in the lead off spot Carter Matheson gets the day off today riding that 13-game hit streak he was at the top of the order these past couple games but now Brock Wills playing Left Field right there at the top followed by Cole Mathis bat second is the DH tonight calebloma Vita bats third Grant Norris fourth Josh Pine fifth playing third a million Petrie bat sixth Jacob Tobias after him in the seventh spot followed by T.O Banks playing Center Field tonight and James McCoy at nine James McCoy been swinging it really well as of late and we were talking about it a little bit yesterday that back half of the order can really be a huge impact maker but first it'll be Brock Wills who batted in the seven spot yesterday don't come in grab a bat and Lead things off against Gavin black what do you see from Black [Applause] oh black a guy not huge stature he's not going to blow you away with stuff but he's got that fastball that he can throw and he'll typically possibly start out Brock Wills here up up and in with the fastball some breaking stuff to go along with it we'll see what he has today his first pitch starts inside he made his last start his first start against born on June 6th and in that one he got the no decision three Innings gave up three earned on four hits he walked six struck out one in an eventual 9-8 win and that was a big comeback victory for Wareham at a time where they had not found a lot of winning [Music] and currently right now they're on a three-game skid Wills taxed it the other way three there from Black and he'll be sitting at 93 but he can get up to 95-96 at times he's got a sharp slider to go along with it you see it there and Wells fends It Off mostly just fastball slider only but that's huge when you have a guy who can throw mid 90s with the fastball and then a slider that's almost seven to eight off that in the upper upper 80s it's two and two on Wills out of UNC Wilmington and he's up three and two Wills has reached base and 10 of his 23 plate appearances he had the two run single with the bases loaded yesterday in that 6-1 win over Harwich he swings and bounces it to First spleen almost slips but he beats Wills to the bag and there's one gone explains that first out of Arizona Dorian Gonzalez out of Miami Florida he's at second Sebastian Merlot Georgia at Short Bobby Bozer out of South Florida he's at third Yadi Hernandez completes the battery behind the plate The Seton Hall pirate does the catching and then it will be what Grant Sharon and left at a USC Upstate Josh Stevenson the new Ohio State Buckeye in center and Lawson Harrell out of Campbell and right Cole Mathis he's had a busy 24 hours he's down in the count 0-2 I'm pitching last night did Mathis walked twice played the first seven Innings at first base and then came in to throw for Finn McElroy he relieved him and then pitch the rest of the way took the Cavaliers home it's one thing to start the game as a pitcher which Mathis Did 14 times this year at the College of Charleston and then hit at the same time but he was a hitter then quickly had to maneuver in as a reliever then also had a played appearance and walked after he came into pitch yeah and two starts ago Mathis made a start against Wareham that was at Spillane field the game that he went four frames in he corks it to Right Center over is Stevenson he was already playing towards the alley and he puts it out for two away [Music] and Caleb Loma Vita coming up to the plate yeah that one start for Mathis that was a 7-2 win for Wareham back on the 24th of June and then one more meeting since and the Cavaliers they took the win six to three it's two and one on Loma Vida 27 straight at bats without a strikeout his average right around 280. and he changed up his stance a little bit more squatted down his hands maybe a little bit more back he's evened it up a little less open and he takes strike two to make the count full he's been pulling a lot of baseball so you have to wonder maybe that helps a little bit he pulls it here a shallow Tapper on the grass it's going to be a close play and it's not going to be in time Caleb Loma Vida like Saturn infield single and the inning stays alive yeah they don't ask how that's going to go down as a single for Loma Vita kind of a swinging bunt down that third base line and a nice play by Bobby Bowser charging in at third he's able to scoop that one up with his right bare hand cleanly but tough to make a good throw down to First in time to get Loma Vita he doesn't and the inning continues will send up Grant Norris and he sit safely in four of his five games he had the three head ball game with two doubles two games ago against Hyannis that was a 16-7 win Loma Vita goes here's the throw from Hernandez and it shoots into Center lomavita is in with a stolen base [Applause] that'll be his second of the summer so he moves to two for four he did that quite a bit this year at Cal stole 24. yeah and another stolen bag here and we talk about two out hitting that's been huge for cotuit in these last couple games well now they got a guy in scoring position the home run yesterday by Amelia and petray that was with two outs their first three against Hyannis with two outs here with two outs looking to get that run across and Norris with a four pitch walk [Music] Mike has kind of struggled with so far this year he's made two appearances but his first one was against cotuit a relief appearance he didn't walk any batters his last time out against Bourne though six walks in three frames so definitely something that he'll have to kind of reel back in a little bit here in this start he starts off Josh Pine with a strike black began the summer with the Syracuse salt cats of the New York College Baseball League he was the pitcher of the week there in early June he ties up Pine there with the breaking ball during that spani pitched 10 innings from June 5th to June 11th a 3-2 earner on average five hits allowed and 17 strikeouts in 10 frames the two-strike pitch the pine he Loops it into right it's falling and it's down here comes Loma Vita the throw from Harold not in time in the Cavalier strike first more two out kidding and could do it is on the board [Applause] it's one that's just way low and away for Josh Pine all he's trying to do is get a bat to the ball and he does just that good things happen it's just a flare shot that's able to find Green Grass and shallow right field perfectly placed seeing eye single and it brings home Loma Vita from second more that to out hitting and still threatening here two on in scoring position with two out still Peach Ray stings it foul wide of the left field line tomorrow that one was awfully close that fausted his home plan umpire Mickey Garcia Trey with a Fly ball into Center Stevenson treks back he's got plenty of room he makes the catch to end the inning but Josh Pine with his second RBI of the year against Wareham he puts the cattle ears on top one nothing and during this break we'll let you get to know Ryan galaney and Jacob Tobias a little bit more as they're welcomed on by Jimmy Middleton in this latest edition of 90 feet my name is Sharon Middleton this is Jacob Tobias Ryan Delaney and this is 180 feet so what's been the toughest place you've ever had to play um ever I would say Oregon State's actually really intimidating you wouldn't expect it but their fans are actually really good and they show out pretty well so it's been it was a tough time when we went there all right your turn so uh what's been your favorite Cavalier moment this summer uh watch my friend yesterday that was really cool okay all right if you had one favorite coach who would it be Cash Pot cash why because I knew him last year didn't know Danny or Shriners much last year so Cass is my favorite coach okay and Tobias if you had a favorite player who would it be um probably Caleb Loma Vita and then I got one more for both of you if you guys had to pick someone to represent the cats to go on Jeopardy who would it be I'll start with you Ryan Jeopardy yeah I like P P would be a good Jeopardy contestant I think I think does it have to be a play does not have to be a player has to be someone affiliated with the cat stuff Tyler oh Tyler that's a great one he would hit it it would be elite Tyler would win Jeopardy 100 genius well this was 180 feet with Jacob Tobias during militant and Ryan Delaney how so we welcome you back that was 90 feet with Jimmy Middleton that was a fun one of course Ryan galaney getting drafted in the 13th round by the White Sox but he's still here he's not leaving until the weekend so he's pretty much just doing the whole Lowell Park tour today and we'll get you more on that he's just enjoying every second of it as he should he's earned it second year in ketuit kind of the experienced veteran one of a few now Cameron Hill get some swinging a Miss from Tommy splane he's the team's leader in Ops at a 992 clip and splenda's played eight games but he's made an impact in every single one of them three straight multi-hit affairs and a big frame too big Power bat in this gateman lineup the 2-2 coming kind of similar to Brody donae with Virginia Tech out of Hyannis who's just entered the transfer portal but a bigger framed catcher bigger guy more mobile and Cameron Hill will allow a walk his second allowed that's Blaine playing at first today so huge when you have a catcher who can also play first base kind of see a lot of guys get different looks in there Loma Vita a guy who's typically just at Catcher And DH and that's a lot that's what Mike Roberts usually sets up his lineup as he likes to have that backup catcher in the DH spot but for Wareham and for other ball clubs in the cape League they have that luxury now I'm curious to get your thoughts because we see this a lot around baseball that relationship between catching and first base why do you think sometimes a catcher just to give them some rest they go to First I mean they they work really hard back there for nine innings of a game Gotta Stay crouched back there and framing pitches all night long and Loma Vita does that really well he gets a good call there so Owen two against Sherrod and I think at first you know you're a little bit less in the action you're in the action a lot every single ground ball it's usually coming your way in some capacity but when you're catching you have to account for every single pitch and you have to block ones like that for strike three Grant Sherrod out of USC Upstate in his third game it's set down on strikes first strikeout for Cameron Hill he's now up to a league High 29. 29 and the man who's chasing him cam shulkey out of the cattle ears Bullpen he's at 25. we'll see if he has a chance today to creep up on Hill but he'll look into extend his lead Dorian Gonzalez takes a big win Cameron Hill the leader in earn run average .44 era the next best is Chris Kaylor at 1-6 Kaylor no longer with the kettle ears committed to Eastern Carolina but just goes to show you the dominance of cotuit pitching when they have the top two era Clips by a starter in this league Owen two on Dorian Gonzalez and he chases the high stuff first strike three back-to-back punch outs for the Southpaw and Hill up to 95 he was around 93 in the first inning nice to see him settling into this one and he picks up his first two k's there so up to 30 on the season it's been awesome to watch 81 degrees 90 percent humidity and Cameron Hill has matched the Heat on this fine Cape Cod evening rocketed into Center and that'll sink in for a base knock yachty Hernandez with a single that's his 10th of the year Anthony Hernandez just taking it right back up the middle Hill's got to get out of the way of it but for Yadier Hernandez that his second hit in the last three games so looks like the bat starting to roll a little bit for yachty a cousin of the Molina family through his mother Yadi Benji Jose catchers run in that family there's no doubt about it one and one now to Lawson Herald the Big South Player of the Year this year at Campbell second team All-American top RBI man and Slugger in the Big South the 1-1 he chases the outside change 79 there from Hill it's one that's breaking down and away from Harrell so just perfectly placed gets the swing in a Miss let's see what he goes to here one and two looking to end the frame Wareham looking to try and get on the board they are the team tied with ketuit for the most runs this year 5.6 runs per ball game and there's a slider that misses three and two to Harrell good crowd on the ketuit side some fans filling the Wareham bleachers watching Cameron Hill unfurl strike three call Cameron Hill strikes out the side and in the first two innings he walks both batters to lead it off but then proceeds to keep where Ham scoreless we go to the bottom of the second Inning on the kettle ears digital Network could two at one wear him nothing by going to kotuit cutaliers to keep up to date with scores Facebook Twitter and Instagram by going to katua ketelirious to keep up to date with scores pictures well we welcome you back here from Lowell Park and oh hey there you are Tyler and Amber and Joe Pratt the entire crew with you you see we've got our foam gloves today at the park we're ready this is for Cape Cod 5 Community Bank committed to service they're here today giving out free stuff to the fans and we're here with our glove fingers now we've seen the foam finger that's very popular but the foam glove this must be a new piece of innovative technology has to be it's awesome too I love it it's like a fan especially on a day as hot as today yeah we've been doing that up in the booth I'm sure they're many fans just waving those foam gloves back and forth Jacob Tobias leads things off and he Skies one foul off to the left Tobias is home for his last seven since his three RBI game against yd back on July 2nd that was the game that Cameron Hill started so Cameron Hill starting today Tobias back in the lineup and he hits a bullet back to the to the net I can't get over the foam gloves this is awesome I love it I mean I feel like you could maybe catch a baseball in it with two hands Maybe do you think that infielters could use this as a training tool yeah just with quick hands kind of soft hands that like they have those leather pads I know yeah the training gloves yeah I think I think we're on to something here too bad it's already been invented the tutu from Black and it's three and two you gotta love the plain foam finger too though the one with the normal finger yeah yeah I I'm totally with you there now did she ever grace a foam finger at a sporting event definitely well that one almost grazed tobias's Jersey he'll take Ball Four from Black [Music] Tobias been swinging it well nice to see him back in the lineup today he replaced Mathis at first last night and he'll be on first now that's exactly what they need against Gavin black his base runners making pitch from the stretch make him uncomfortable and T.O Banks a guy who blasted a home run a couple days ago at Hyannis that was no doubt about it shot his second home run of the year the 1-0 surf slips so Gavin black he walked six in his last start against Bourne he's walked two here and the catcher Hernandez is going to come out and talk to him I'm probably just trying to calm him down and when looking at a guy like T.O Banks you can tell he's got a lot of power behind that swing we watch him in batting practice just lift these balls in a deep left left center field and that's exactly what he did in his home run at Brewster and at Hyannis he's just got to wait for his pitch and it usually is just a matter of staying back on it seems like Banks can sometimes get ahead of that off speed if he's just able to stay back at times he's been a really effective hitter almost popped out of Hernandez's glove but he hangs on so katoa they scored first on a Josh Pine single into right that scored Caleb lomavita who hit an infield single kettler's 13-3 when scoring first and Banks takes strike two three balls two strikes and a walk for banks so back to back to get things started in James McCoy who's been swinging a hot bad as of late he's coming up bottom of the order for the Cavaliers in these last two games have gone 13 for 32 13 hits in the last two games for the bottom four in the order four of those hits belonging to James McCoy so back to back multi-hit games for the Kentucky Wildcat he goes the other way but it's why yesterday in that 6-1 win four of the cattle ears six runs coming from that bottom half in the lineup [Music] a win yesterday for the cattle ears to move their win streak to five wear him heading off day yesterday they lost 8-6 to Falmouth two days ago in a good one really contested battle but the gay men now fall for the third straight time in a row and they had good pitching 14 total runs and 19 hits though combined in that game just one of those where it's got pretty much everything you can ask for and that was with both clubs Wareham and Falmouth tied for last in the division so some good implications McCoy stings it into left Center that's gonna go to the wall Here Comes Tobias Banks racing around third he's gonna try to score he will have no throw it's a two-run double for James McCoy and he stays scorching up make that six RBIs in the last three games for James McCoy man has he just been a gap magnet that one way deep out into left center field it gets all the way to the fence he did that exact same thing twice last night two balls to the right side alley nice to see him Dish One to the opposite field and he drives in two that is huge and a major piece of hitting from well where at the nine man in the order and that's what Mike Roberts said yesterday we need to be strong in eight to nine in the order as strong as one to two two to three and that's what this Catalina's order has provided McCoy dancing off of second Brock Wills triples one foul and where him they've had one of the top offenses in the league but a 5-3 earner on average as a team ninth in the league just looking for something to get out of it here still nobody out but maybe with an off day yesterday that could help the bullpen get some extra rest Gavin black though looking to go give some more distance he pitched at Northwest Florida State Community College this year committed to Mississippi State and again a power right-handed arm for Rob Smythe you only allowed two extra base hits this year down at Northwest Florida state that was a home run and a double and they'll check on McCoy back there on second and so that's an extra base hit for him today the first for the Cavaliers tonight something that they've done well pretty well in these last couple games needless to say 20 runs scored over their last two swung on and missed Gavin black hits his first K of the day a strikeout of Brock Wills and those 16 runs came against Hyannis that was in that 16-7 win as Mathis offers he does not go around says the first base umpire Joe Cruz he's joined by the played umpire Mickey Garcia and third base up Joseph giaccio Mathis who's home for one with a fly out to Center takes one that gets away from Hernandez he's up firing but McCoy beats out the tag of Bozer [Applause] McCoy kind of knocks down Bowser as he comes up on the stand-up slide but looks like those two are okay they're exchanging a couple laughs nice heads up Ace running there by James McCoy the ball slightly gets away from Hernandez it doesn't get all the way back to the backstop and he just pounces on that one trying to advance to 30 does in the air right center Harrell over makes the catch McCoy attacks from third and the cattle ears take a four-nothing lead on a Sac fly by Cole Mathis and that's exactly why that is such a great play by James McCoy to advance to Third on that one that got away from Hernandez because then all it takes is just a fly ball into the Outfield pretty much to bring him home and that's exactly what Cole Mathis does just fights it off and off of his hands and a lot of wind blowing out towards center field it carries and the Run scores Joe that's just one of those instances of how important advancing a runner can be in just any way possible it's a lot about the little things in winning baseball games and that's something that the catalers have done really well they've just done the little things well in these past five games they've won all of them tipped into the mitt of Hernandez by Loma Vida we're joined up in the booth by Liam Barrett our broadcast director he is Fanning us right now that was drilled down the left field line but lomavita is down to the count one and two he's taking those foam gloves just providing some circulation up in the booth which is where the three of us in Abigail water are up here it is a sticky Day Out that's one way of putting it 81 degrees at game time humidity about 85 to 90 percent good baseball weather good power hitting weather clubbed foul of course get to it 22 homers this year tied for first in the league Wareham right behind him with 20 their third lomavita takes ball three good take by Loma Vita that's oftentimes a pitch the low and Away slider that he might want to Chase it does a great job holding back on it black fires Loma Vita tanks one foul again [Music] thank you here comes the 53rd pitch of the day and Gavin black gets strike three but the gatuiters get three more and they take a four nothing lead as we go to the top half of the third on the Cavaliers digital Network and we're going to set it on down to Lily Butler Lily what do you got for us yeah Hey Joe and Tyler just before this game you two tapped into your creative side and headed to the cotuit Center for the Arts bus here at Lowell Park and made these very artistic pennants that I have but the katua Center for the Arts is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire creativity and Inspire the community Through many forms of the Arts through community outreach workshops live shows and more if you're interested in donating or seeing how you can help go to artsforthecape.org and click on support back to you guys thank you Lily and Joe that was fun get to do that free game we went in the bus it's it's a painted bus that was commissioned and done by the Center for the Arts and they use it as a craft bus where we can all participate in making our own pennants that was really awesome Tyler and like Lily said embrace our creative side a little bit we're not the best artists I don't think because those were two stencils and those ketuit Seas looked a little bit outside the lines let's just say but plenty of fans definitely making their way over there today trying to make their own Cavaliers pennant hopefully better than those they're pretty good though I thought they came out well we tried to dabble with a Dabber or two which we've also used on Bingo night unfortunately the pennants were black fabric so there wasn't too much we could do about that kind of hard to make a cool design out of it but I think we we did our best yeah the English sea will do yeah only us would find a way to color outside a stencil line in the best way possible yeah here's Josh Stevenson the new Ohio State Buckeye out of LSU and he comes up empty there on a big breaker from Cameron Hill who's through two scoreless Stevenson is 12 for 54 this year has driven in nine has scored eight runs he started off the year really strong in his first five games he had five hits four of them in one game takes one near the knuckles there from Hill went four for four in the 6-5 loss on the 22nd of June against Yarmouth Dennis played over 20 games for the Tigers this year he goes down swinging on strike three [Applause] fourth straight strikeout for cam Hill four six five batters faced across that span but his last four outs have been all with the k-ball we've talked about Cameron Hill and his prowess in summer baseball it's really impressive to see him do this over a long span of time as he pumps one load of Bowser who walked his first time up past the glove of pine down the left field line Bowser takes a big turn around first he's now gonna head for a second it gets away from Wills he has to Rifle it in a single and then advancing the second is Bozer we'll see how they score it good piece of hitting there by the USF Bull yeah it just rips down the line there right past Josh Pine he's made some star-studded plays at third there a couple times this week unable to come down with that one that was a laser shot down the left field line and looks like Will's just kind of bobbled it on the pickup and so Bozer was thinking too off the bat and then he winds up getting there but it will go down as an error did you happen to see was it more so on the transfer or on the throw because Bowser took that big turnaround first and then went to second I think Will's kind of tried to backhand it a little and then kind of picked it up and maybe snow ConEd it roller to short Norris his throws offline and morillo beats it out that's a really tough play to make for Norris he's on the Run moving to his right and throwing across his body and so he pulls it a little bit up the line and good job by Jacob Tobias sometimes you'll see first baseman try to stretch way out and try to haul one in but he knows that there's a runner on second so he's just gotta make the safe play come off the bag receive it and so now they have a chance to potentially turn two with a ball up the middle or on the infield with Caufield up and just one gone infield single for morillo extends that on Bay streak to 11. and Garen Caulfield is up 1-0 punch her to shore Norris underhands to Second there's one p traded first there's two six plus four plus three equals two and Cameron hill with a big smile escapes unscape more great backup by his defense cattle ears hold him right where they're at four to nothing we go to the bottom of the Third behind the scenes content and more follow us today when the unexpected happens make sure you and your assets are insured appropriately the agents at Leonard Insurance Agency can tailor coverage to meet your needs call 508-428-6921 to talk to their license agents today this year the Cape Cod Baseball by visiting kotuitketaliers.org blog there's a weekend in July where the baseball world revolves around a village in Upstate New York Baseball Hall of Fame induction weekend in Cooperstown is an unforgettable experience filled with family-friendly activities and Priceless moments make your plans today for July 21st through the 24th for the induction of Fred McGriff and Scott Roland as the class of 2023. visit Baseball Hall we welcome you back from sunshiny Lowell Park four-nothing Cavaliers Wareham it's gotten Runners aboard in every single inning they've got men in scoring position at every single inning but a double play allows ketuit to escape scoreless and time called looks like maybe an umpire's time there yeah I think it was I just think the batboy was behind him grabbing that ball and he wanted to give him a little bit more time to get back into as well consider it there for Mickey Garcia he's been the home planet umpire for a handful of cattle ears games this year and he's joined on the infield by Joe giaccio at third Joe Cruz at first Gavin blackout for another inning he gets a bouncing ball to short knocked down by morillo regathers throws but not in time [Applause] that's kind of similar to the one that Norris had just an inning ago in the top of the third one that Murillo actually got an infield single on he bounced it to him and Norris had a kind of trouble getting it out of his glove and and took a little bit extra time and that time Norris beats it out this time it'll go down as an error though and that's something Wareham has had some struggles with there's a towering drive into the corner down the left field line and it is caught What A Catch Grant Sherrod in foul territory pulls it down wow Josh Pine thought he might have tucked in his second home run of the Year down in that left field corner but Grant Sherrod just charges in on it way back and that's one that he kind of plays a little bit in front and so the Fly ball takes him back and so he kind of tumbles more towards the fence he doesn't tumble into it though he's able to keep his footing very impressive so just as an error was committed by marillo how about that play by Grant Sherrod in the left field corner it's 1-0 on Amelia and Peach right here's a throwback to First and safely is Norris we're gonna have a special guest after this half fitting we've got the mayor of ketuate Ryan galaney in the dirt throwback to First and back in safely is Norris good recognition there by Yadi Hernandez Hernandez with a quick look back to first I mean Norris has gotten into his secondary lead there and Hernandez keeping him honest so he'll have to pay close attention to that 3-0 now on P Trey hit his first home run since March 7th against Murray State in that 6-1 win yesterday making that a five straight home run streak for the cattle ears offense and he takes a four pitch walk so Gavin black he is through two and a thirds forward runs three hits two strikeouts and three walks but you've seen him rally back a little bit he's retired four of his last six here's a crown ball the second they go to the bag for one morillo can't transfer it everybody's safe [Applause] tough one there for marillo just kind of in and out of the glove but he's got to see it in there first and secure that first out the most important out of a double play is the first one Tyler and if you're unable to get the first one then you're probably not going to be able to get the second one and that's exactly what happens there T.O banks with a perfect opportunity here to bat a couple Insurance runs home for the Cavaliers they got them loaded with one out 400 average for the cattle ears offense with the basers loaded four home runs and 34 driven in one more home run with the bases loaded would give them five grand slams that would be the Grand Slam record during the wood bat era Falmouth of 2019 the last to do it with four here's a hot shot but yanked foul well that's the swing for banks a little bit early on the breaking ball from Gavin black we'll see how long he goes in this one as they got one right-hander warming up out there on the Wareham Bullpen maybe looks like another one possibly getting loose maybe a double barrel situation to get a righty and a lefty going could be oh and two to Banks he walked and scored in the second Inning on a two-run double by James McCoy who's waiting on Deck this bottom half show it has been the backbone of this kituate nine through the last three games Black's pitch rocketed into left that's a base hit for banks one runs in here comes another and two more come across as McCoy and petray are in what a great hit by Banks that's exactly the same swing that he put on that foul ball that breaking ball just a couple pitches ago but he hooked it foul he's able to stay a bit more back on at that time and just drive it through the left side of the infield not trying to do too much he just connects on it perfectly he drives in two and defense playing a big role in this one here as you saw ketuit last night in their game against Harwich they had been struggling with the defensive errors and cotuit was able to take advantage of those they did so in Hyannis and now here against Wareham the number 10 team in the league in terms of Defense and katua just taking advantage of those unforced mistakes and where him in that 8-6 loss to Falmouth only four of those were earned runs to Pitchers four runs unearned with errors playing a role in that one so a pitching change for Rob Smythe's gateman that is the day for Gavin black he goes two in the third frames four earned runs five total four hits two strikeouts four walks in 17 batters faced James McCoy is going to come up when we come back on the kettle ears digital Network could two at six wear him nothing as we are here in the bottom of the Third Mitch Miller comes on with one down first reliever used in this ball game met on first and second for the Cavaliers and James McCoy one for one with a two-run double the batter he's got three straight games with a two bagger he's facing Mueller two-thirds of an inning on July 7th against Brewster in a 12-5 win two hits two strikeouts he's out of Brookfield Wisconsin and Utah Valley University thank you Tyler Hamburg and Jill Pratt back with you along with our entire crew we'll talk to Lily Butler in a little bit slithers in for strike two called on the back door slider it's there from Mueller he's making a second appearance he just went two-thirds of an inning against Brewster last week in a 12-5 win for the gateman how do you get strike three called the James McCoy he crosses up the switch hitter out of Kentucky and there's the first strikeout of the day for Mueller tough one there for McCoy just kind of ties him up in off his hands but from the left side as last time up just put one right into the Gap in left center field that brought home two catalers took a three-nothing lead at the time they're now up six brockwell's looking for that first hit he's going to follow Sue to it a tune 89 average with 10 homers and 99 driven in with men in the scoring position they've eclipsed 100 rubies today six nothing is their lead Mueller deals on the ground ashore Morello squeezes it fires to First and he gets Wells to end the inning so Mitch Mueller retires the only two batters he faces but the cattle ears tack on some more and they lead it six nothing on the other side of this break we're going to talk to the newest member of the Chicago White Sox organization it's two-year coutu at kedelier Ryan galani dot org today for the entire schedule see you in Cooperstown where the journey becomes Legend hi this is Ryan galaney the corner infielder for Cameron Hill I see you've been working on some Reese's Pieces is that the go-to candy of choice today uh today yeah usually it's the sour patch watermelons good good snack they're ready he pulls him out of his sweatshirt as Hill pulls the string a little bit upstairs to splain so Ryan take us through a couple days ago getting the call from the White Sox organization a lifetime dream fulfilled for you yeah it is you know uh it's starting to feel a little bit more real it didn't feel real at first for the first couple days and um it was great I saw Brock and Toby right after I got the call and my host mom and they all gave me a hug and said congratulations so it was awesome must have just been kind of a feeling of of all this hard work that you've put in here finally paying off is that kind of what you felt yeah it was calming you know you always dream with it but as you get a little bit older you uh you start to stress a little bit so it's a little bit more calming than anything else Tommy spleen hits a single down the left field line he leads things off with his second time on base so wear him with the leadoff Runner report now that you spent two years here and this was your first relatively full season first time experiencing opening day July 4th what was unique about this summer here on the cave um seeing guys coming to come out you know last year the the team was kind of set when I got here and they kind of took me in and then this year is kind of our job and our opportunity to bring guys in anybody came in and uh tell other guys good luck and goodbyes you know they got the calls to go to the draft or um they were shut down for their season by their school so it's been a good time now you talk a little bit about last year you joined this team for the playoffs it was just one playoff series but you actually hit a home run in that Series in Hyannis what did that was that in Hyannis yeah it was what did that feel like I was a great feeling I felt like you dream of coming up to Cape Cod as a college baseball player and having that happen in the one week I was up here was really gratifying how did it feel to hit that home run in such a a major time for the team of course down one game to nothing and Harrison Cohen was on the mound he was dealing and they needed some run support and you gave it you know at the time I don't think I really realized the situation and what it meant to the town to get to it and the people here but definitely as I came back this year a feeling that gets better and better every time did that also kind of give you a little bit more of a confidence boost coming into the college here after that home run in that Series yeah definitely you know you face top talent out here and then you go back to school and it doesn't really matter who you face is just ready to face them because you face people with that caliber already five home runs here as a catalier across two years including a couple Grand Slams but if you were to pick one what's your favorite one or most memorable oh uh the Grand Slam on kids night was was great and then it's tough with my first home run this year which felt really good after sitting out for a little bit so both of them were great memories but I don't charge for the rest of my life there's a strikeout for Cameron Hill he's now got five what have you seen from this guy out on the mountain this summer oh he's he's disgusting I faced him last summer in any CBO when he was in Martha's Vineyard and I tell him the lights weren't great but I don't think I saw the ball when I was at the plate I think I went down in four pitchers just swinging at everything and I luckily touched one and then this year when we played Georgia Tech I was actually talking to my buddy Trey younger in The Dugout about it today it was one of the hardest to it or some of the two hardest at bats I had all year just going up against a big guy like him that the ball is moving every which way out of his hand depending on the pitch and he has really good control of all of them so when he's on he's one of the toughest pitchers to face in America anyone else out here on this field right now who has really caught your eye yeah no they're they're all really talented you know Loma when you watch BP people like Loma Tio and James are hitting the ball harder than you've ever seen in your life and I mean the rest of the dog or the rest of the team's phenomenal you got Toby you can control his body and his Bat really well there's Petrie and brockwells out there they uh there's just some great bats and some great talent and then the left side of the infield I mean they've been playing phenomenal defense actually lately so all things you love to see and the guys in The Dugout are just as talented we got a really good team this year and he talked about the duck too there's been a lot of positive energy on and off the field from this team seems like you guys have had a really good thing going yeah no we're all really good friends we enjoy being around each other every day at the field so I think it gives you something to look forward to doing and we don't really dread coming out here so everybody everybody really likes doing it Ryan how cool is that experience gelling with a group that you become friends with for a month yet you just get so in sync as a unit on the field and often it's a great feeling especially when you're with talented guys like this but it's kind of weird at the end when you when everybody goes their separate ways and they go back to their schools and kind of play their own baseball again it's it's an odd feeling but definitely one that you enjoy in the moment you can definitely see the chemistry of this team kind of bleed onto the field a lot of times and and you've been a guy out there who's been kind of a leader for this squad this year swung out a missed for strike three for you and and this team it seems like they've brought such a relaxed approach to these games is is that kind of what you like and what you think has made this team really successful yeah I personally I'm I'm someone that has to be a little bit more locked in and can't really be laughing the whole time at the plate or on base but a lot of these guys are really talented and they can do whatever they want they could they can hit anything um but it's really funny we all we all kind of relax and just play it doesn't feel like too big of a moment ever so I think that's why we're so good this question is coming from cattle ears writer Jimmy Middleton if the bus is broken who on the team is fixing it fixing it fixing it I I think we could probably push it better than we can fix it but if you had to pick somebody to fix it who would it be Josh Pine would be a good answer oh come on top come on top oh almost caught by the diving James McCoy oh he just sprawled out and almost made the grab and you see Hernandez walking back towards the dug out there for a moment he just said I got another chance but McCoy slow to get up down the right field line we hope he's okay what a great effort put into that ball he laid out for it yeah he looks good tough kid actually played baseball with James two summers ago love him love him to death was that in the valley League it was a good time we had a good team that year too I think there's six guys that are now in professional baseball from that team so talk how many years for summer ball is this is this your fourth oh yeah it is my fourth I would have had five but the covid year canceled out all summer ball opportunities I guess I played in a little league at home but it wasn't really a thing not not an official League Cameron Hill he's facing Yadi Hernandez it's two and two on Yadi a single back in the second we're up here with could do it Catalina's Corner infielder future member of the Chicago White Sox organization Ryan galaney so when will you have to there's a Fly ball in the left center field back goes Wells he's got it and the inning is over Ryan what's next for you uh I fly to Charlotte on Saturday early Saturday morning and then I am there for five days or six days and then for mini camp with all the other draft and signing signed guys and then I had to Arizona to go to the complex and start rookie ball I believe um not sure if I'll start rookie ball immediately but I know I'll be at the complex from there until they decide to send me off to wherever they want to well the fact that you've been hanging around you've been taking everything around the ballpark you've been hanging out in the team store you've been helping out there you've been in the Dugout you've been up here doing the media tour maybe some more down the stress just shows how much you love this area this team and you've been here for your second year and you're entering a new chapter of your life in your career so we wish you the absolute best as we head to the bottom of the fourth inning and kituent leading Wareham thanks to Ryan goani for joining us Ryan thank you thanks Ryan clinics begin Monday June 27th and in Friday July 29th to sign up go to info.collegebaseballcamps.com CK cotuit should we welcome you back here on the kettle ears digital Network Tyler danberg Joe Pratt Lily Butler Liam Barrett Abigail lot and the sixth member of our broadcast crew Ryan gallenis joining us again just when you thought you were out we pull you back in yeah you know let's have some fun huh so you're gonna do a little play-by-play as well Koger comes into pitch you've got Colt Mathis coming up oh this could be an interesting I bet I don't think I've seen a more impressive hitter than Cole Mathers beware that the the name is Cole hay is is that how it goes that's what the announcers started to call him I thought he called him clay for him a little bit but we got Cole hey up to back you know he's throwing 95 on the bump closing closing it out in three Innings every other night and then hitting home runs I think every other game but he uh I swear he's got a lot of power in that bat that I don't know where it comes from but he's got it foreign call a couple call a couple outs call a couple swings here all right all right I can handle it that was your foul ball big swing big swing article right there fastball away oh good leave I'm not a lot of trash umpires I'm gonna handle myself professionally but that was a borderline call to cool Mathis right there I think he's got his eye on the Zone in a good spot so I'm not going to question his ability I think he's confident with that take catcher set up away hiring away for ball one one two to Cole Mathis if you're a batter in this situation down on the count what are you looking for uh I just hit I'm a little bit different I'm an unorthodox guy but I don't know what Cole's doing I think he's sitting I don't think he's gonna get beat by fast but he's got good hands as a I think it was a fastball alone away for ball ball two two to cool Mathis steps back in the box pretty intimidating hitter I think he's got four home runs on the year I wouldn't want to face him right now if I were the pitcher tied with you good leave up and end fastball for ball three three two let's see if he wins the at-bat right here on this pitcher let's just see another one oh and he hits the ball off the end of the bat the outfit are coming in it drops for a single oh it got by him will he get two oh there's your speeds in a second standing up there we go nice little double in an elephant celebration out of cool math is on second base the elephant celebration yeah we changed it up we we used to just celebrate on second Shake our hands but now we uh we're elephants we um I don't know where it came from but all of a sudden just came out of the Dugout when one of the new guys got here so we uh we stuck with it and it's working we can't change it up when you're winning right yeah definitely absolutely now all right so the lonely steps up to the plate another intimidating bat right in the heart of our order throwing middle in this ball is going to go a long way slider low and in ball one he's got a really good eye up there especially identifying that off speed yeah he can hit he's a talented hitter you know I think he's projected First Day next year and he definitely deserves all the recognition pitch and a foul ball pulled down the line a little Chopper to The Dugout 1-1 Joe we might lose our gigs right here you're doing a heck of a job here let's call the White Sox what's the white Watch Dogs broadcaster's name uh Jason benetti and Steve Stoner on the TV set then Len Casper and Darren Jackson I think are on radio really smart guy over here Joe huh yeah you're telling me oh and he hangs a slider Long Run Road down the line is he gonna get another hit oh and he does a little chopper down the line that stays fairy by a couple inches cool math is over to third the elephant over there Loma beat on first Grand North up to the plate Runners on the corners great RBI opportunity she's got an open base we'll see how he pitches to him here could stay away doesn't wanna he's playing for either a ground ball or a strikeout I don't think he wants to give him anything he can Elevate and get a shack fly out of so I'm betting a lot of off-speed low in the zone maybe some fastballs up and then a little fastball away interesting yeah Will Koger leads the team in appearances with seven now eight two seven earner on average the 1-0 pitch oh fastball fouled off his ankle that never feels good even with the guard there does it really do a job most of the time it stops the bruising and it takes away most of the paint it spreads it out over the whole guard instead of just one spot but if you miss that thing it's very painful promise you that it's a small guard hard to hit slider away checks down the line did not go 2-1 to count you want to be in right here pitcher seems to be throwing a lot of fastballs right now I don't think he's got full control of his Arsenal the 2-1 pitch slider slider Falls in over the middle end part of the plate 2-2 let's see what Grant Norris can do right here 2-2 pitch bowed off Loma Vita over there shuffling at second base looks like he's staying in the playground he could uh he could be dangerous over there you know he's a fast runner for a big guy coach Roberts uses the term Wiffle ball guys is Kayla mavita is is he a guy that can carry over his game and into the Wiffle ball Diamond I think so I don't know about much of a wiffle ball player I don't I could maybe pitching with ball I don't know how much I could hit him with a ball but Loma could definitely hit some balls really far pitch coming slide her down maybe a change up but taken for ball three three two I bet he comes with a fastball here let's see what Grant will do with it and here comes the pitch oh a pick-off attempt along with backhand standing up pretty easy all that speed over there they're going to want to pay attention to him it's a dangerous guy over there well um warming up somebody in the pan alrighty it's all righty two and Grant Norris pop up to the infield looks like it's going to third base and foul territory oh stayed fair but running on first and third one out now it was the fastball I'm not one for guessing pitches normally but I think everybody in the park knew what was coming there and Grant just missed it hit him really high think that you could catch a pop fly with a foam glove and a follow-up to that question what are your thoughts on foam gloves I bet they make great fans right now it's pretty hot up here that feels really good but I uh I don't know if if I could catch one I think I could if I could catch with my bare hand I could catch you with that no pitch to Pine fouled off away I wonder where I'm warming up down in the pen I got a buddy that played with James and I in Strasburg in the valley League who's currently at West Virginia Keegan Allen and he is a pitcher down there and I think he's active today be cool to see him go in the game and face James looks like it's James Hep the L1 pitch to Pine oh and he's stealing and he's safe oh he's safe good call by coach Roberts over there and lonely getting in there ball beat him but the long hop took the second baseman away from the bag and lumi's in there safely Runners on second and third one out which like Josh Pine has a great opportunity to get something done let's see if he can battle with two strikes now Norris comes up to Baton there's six pitches thrown to him why do you think Loma Vita is going there on the second Pitch to Pine oh it's probably a good count for an off-speed pitch a smart base runner could pick up kind of win win a pitcher will go to an offspruit definitely with the runner on third trying to keep it down in the zone slider in one two to Pine but I think I think he uh just got the opportunity there and he took it I think he's timing him up pretty well it looks like he was getting some good reads over there and he Shuffles what an awfully dirty Jersey yeah he's dirty guy I guess huh one two infield in let's see what Pine can do fouled off straight back how am I doing guys are we are we on fire over here we're on fire in Fuego as the Great Dan Patrick would say he's from Mason Ohio you're from Mason Ohio Dan Patrick I'm not I don't know if I Know Dan Patrick is that a problem I feel like I should know him if he's if he's from Mesa like if he's a famous Mason guy I think he's from Mason could be wrong yeah if I were to guess he'd be right right fastball away up and away kind of surprised he came with a fastball that could have been left over the heart of the blade there especially where the catcher was set up I wonder if the coach is calling pitchers or the catcher behind the plate two two one out it looks like the cat oh he might have a microphone on could leave slider away three two open base right here with one out I don't know if you want to necessarily throw something that's hittable here so this pitch could be could be a more more difficulty difficultly executed pitch to make kind of like the unintentional intentional walk maybe yeah they're just gonna stay away from you know Pine's been putting a lot of balls in play lately I wouldn't necessarily think they're gonna throw him a pitch over the heart of the plate here slider Blown Away strike three it looks like Pine didn't think so either but luckily for a million Petra he's still got a chance with Runners on second and third and he's been swinging the bat well has petray oh he's a great hitter I love watching him hit usually he's got a really good eye it's interesting he he's very comfortable with every pitch he takes whether it's his Striker ball and he's been slamming the ball lately so very impressive guy if you didn't know he speaks French oh and he singles it into right let's see if loan like a story he had a pretty big lead he looks like he's going to come in standing up that's two RBI single with two outs for a million feature from Canada in terms of the University of Kentucky I think I got a new backup plan fellas I think so you're you're dominating right now Jacob to buy us up you know I think Toby's due for his first home run of the Season there's a guy that hits the ball really hard a lot it's Jacob Tobias he's gotten a little uh a little unfortunate call he's going against him lately as you can see up here in the booth but I think he I think he's due for one I don't know if it'll come that's that bad but I hope so oh a single to right well petrae go to third no straight to the right field they're probably a good move don't want to make that third out of third in this situation when we've been hitting him with two outs two devices hitting a lot of shingles Ryan have you seen him just kind of simple up his approach a little bit more what what have you seen from him over the last couple games no he's been great lately we talked a little bit when he was struggling to find playing time early on in the season he felt like he was just trying to show that he could hit homers all the time and he's getting away from what made him good which is consistently making hard contact and I think that's kind of what he got back to and he's been slamming the bar as of late Tio banks no dodgeball away look black so probably a good take out of him he's a really good hitter on the middle middle end pitch so let's see if he gets something he can handle here the 01 running around first and second fastball Up and Away all one James McCoy on Deck now that's some guy that you look at you do not want to face in the Box huh James McCoy is a big guy it's a pretty powerful end of the lineup right here with Toby Teo and James in the 789 I wouldn't want to face that bottom third oh basketball off the back Teo Banks loads of the bases for James McCoy let's see if we can get number five on the year that'd be cool we'd set a new record in the Cape Cod League did that some I couldn't tell if it hit the oven mitt or his belt but it definitely didn't get straight back the way he ran away probably got the oven mitt sounded a little uh a little different than most times left-handed version of James McCoy up very powerful see if he gets one big gap in right center right now it's the oh Pitch comes change up oh fastball actually sorry to the picture um had a little bit of run on it I was trying to surprise without a doe could have been a sinker in this situation but oh strike one now so Owen won after you're swinging Miss and he bloops one is he gonna land these third baseman's on it and he catches it and that is the third out of the inning thank you guys for having me on it's James McCoy hangs out over at first base with the Umpire and Nemo the first base coach but good ending out of us huh maybe I'll have to come back up here we keep scoring runs yeah that was awesome thanks for coming up well thank you guys glad to have you back at any point anytime you want any time that's new cattle ears broadcaster Ryan galaney and we will head over to the fifth inning after awesome and you know what he's he's got a uh a pretty good future in broadcasting just as much as he does as a player he's pretty good yeah he is pretty good I mean that was a long inning that we were just on hand for Kato had added two there in the bottom of the fourth inning they now lead it eight to nothing and that was awesome having Ryan galaney up in the booth week we're thrilled to be joined by him and of course a bright future in baseball for Delaney in his near future and and hopefully moving forward heck of a ball player Southern Conference player of the year and here's Aiden Hunter his first pitch of the summer tip slow 6-4 right-hander out of the College of Charleston one of 10 active arms for this Cavaliers pitching staff 10 arms so there aren't too many available coming out of this Bullpen so perhaps some long relief definitely and that's kind of been the target for these relievers in these past couple games and past 25 games for the cattle ears there's one low to Lawson Harrell uh swing and a miss two and two Cameron Hill his day is finished he throws four scoreless frames just another outstanding start for Hill he was incredible especially after that first inning he started off the day with a walk strike three called to Lawson Harrell first Banner faced first batter struck out of the cape league for Aiden Hunter okay looking just dotted in there Frozen freezes Lawson Harrell his second looking K of the afternoon and Josh Stevenson coming back up he struck out his first time so looking to do better here Aiden Hunter appeared in 26 games this year for the Cougars start at two went four and three with the 4-1-9 earn run average struck out 35 he wants 16 and 43 frames and he transferred from South Carolina so he goes in state pitched in 20 ball games made three starts in 48 Innings with the Gamecocks in 2022. Stevenson out in front of it Stevenson also struck out that was back in the third has punched out seven hitters Wareham has picked up four K's they've had three different pitchers in Black Mueller and cougar it's eight nothing catalers Hunter's got some big time breaking stuff he really does and he saw more of it there but let's see what he comes back with here he's got Stevenson at a Full Count he's got a good fast ball to go along with the brakes with the off speed and there's that off speed thank you 87 just cuts right away from the bat of Josh Stevenson he waves at it it's outside that one 87 had plenty of two seam break to it and he picks up his second K this one's swinging Cavalier's pitching is retired six of the last seven five of those outs recorded by way of a k here's Bobby Bowser he's playing third today he's a guy that we talked about at the start of the year he can just kind of play everywhere he's played some second he's played some Outfield he's at the Hot Corner this evening can play pretty much anywhere except for pitch and catch can Bobby Bozer Bozer out of South Florida 322 this year he had 15 home runs that's the most buyable since 2018 ninth all time came into this game three for ten against katuin he's singled in the third then reached second on an error by brockwell's head just some trouble getting it out of the mid but the Cavaliers they are up in the series two games to one they're 2-0 at Lowell Park looking to try and extend their win streak to six and of course it might look like there is no win streak for some because they did lose that game on July 6th to Falmouth 12-2 but that's actually July 4th proceeded to win five straight after that there's Ball Four to Bowser now his League High 20th walk it just works are pretty good at bat and that's exactly what you need after the new pitcher in the game immediately comes in and picks up two quick strikeouts and so good job by Bobby Bowser there just to work the count get on base so that Hunter can't necessarily just have an easy start to this one the College of Charleston cougar dips one in there to Sebastian Murillo who is one for two fielder's choice in a single there are now four College of Charleston players on this Cavaliers active roster three of them currently with College of Charleston the other one in Dylan Johnson he will be a cougar next year coming from the Juco ranks Trotter Harlan another guy second ear cattle ear the one two runner takes off that pops out of lomavita's man that's a stolen base for Bowzer Cavaliers leading by eight they got one in the first three in the second two in the third two in the fourth and hunter gets strike three an efficient debut for Aiden Hunter this summer he Strikes Out Three and he keeps the gateman off the board eight-nothing cattle ears and on the other side of this break as we head to the bottom of the fifth I'm going to send it over to Joe Pratt who's going to take us home for the play-by-play you're with scores pictures behind the scenes content and more follow us today hi this is Ryan galloney the corner infielder for the Couture cuttle ears and you're listening to the Cavaliers digital Network [Music] there's a weekend in July where the baseball world revolves around a village in Upstate New York Baseball Hall of Fame induction weekend in Cooperstown is an unforgettable experience filled with bottom of the fifth inning and the top of the order coming up for the Cavaliers here to face will Koger who was aboard for his second ending of work he relieved Mitch Mueller back there in that fourth inning and it'll be Brock will stepping up to the plate his fourth at bat of the game here in the fifth inning he had an at-bat in the first second and third so they've really been swinging it well they've made it to their fourth rotation around the order here to lead off the bottom of the fifth and here's the first pitch from will Koger to Brock wills and he slaps that one through the left side for a base hit Brock Wills starts off the bottom of the fifth inning exactly how the kettle ears started off the bottom of the fourth inning I'll lead off single and there's a Mana board for Cole Mathis Wills just keeps on finding ways to get on base he's now reached safely in five of eight games but you talk about placement there Joe that's just squeezed between marillo and Bozer just fits it through that Gap here's Cole Mathis he takes a strike one there right down the pike driven in one today scored once let off the fourth inning as I said that was with a double Justin ending ago he came around to score on a million pietres RBI single that brought home two pitch to math as he gets on top of this one sharply rolled to the left side Bozard a second for one on to First not in time [Applause] what a play by Bozer there at a backhand it near the bag and get the lead runner at second they're unable to get the one at first but really nice play just to get the one at two that was a hard bouncer just over third so boser not only has to worry about making a play but he's also got to keep an eye on the bag if it hits the base then he's gonna find a way to knock it down or play it on the Ricochet but then he goes to Second across his body that is a throw that a lot of third baseman might not be able to make at such an accurate percentage first pitch to Loma Vita is away and that's a throw for Bowser that he had to make it all 90 feet he was on the Baseline and had to throw across to his second baseman Dorian Gonzalez here's the 1-0 to lomavita down lowing in first pitch too Loma Vita misses as Koger the third gateman to throw in this one here in the fifth inning Gavin black started things off went two in a third Mitch Mueller picked up the rest of the third inning as Loma Vita takes that one for a strike it's two and one Mueller had to fish it two batters up two batters down but now a tough assignment in Loma Vita those two infield singles he had were just slightly grazed up that third base line just great pieces of hitting and some good placement 2-1 Tapper foul much similarly to the couple hits he had yeah and that you go back to that last one that Loma Vita had in the fourth it was kind of like one of those buns that you do in a sacrifice situation that the third baseman of the shortstop they come in and they're trying to watch and see if the ball will trickle foul well Loma Vita did that swinging that's kind of a one in a million type of hit but yeah sorry Joe he's he's kind of done that twice yeah he has and like you said it's a really difficult thing to do to hit the ball that softly as it's coming in there and then mid to low 90s here's the 2-2 Loma Vita waves and misses 83 miles an hour on the slider and he's put away for the second time today Loma Vita goes down on strikes he's two for four and it'll bring up Grant Norris yeah great pitch by Coker there slows him up on the slider and Coker his last two outs he's recorded have been caves first pitch to Norris away they'll check on the back pick down to first but Hernandez's throw is a little bit behind second time today we've seen Yadi Hernandez fire one down there to First trying to backpick a runner and of course his cousin Yadier Molina is kind of the patriarch of that backpick throw to first Yadier Molina of course the future Hall of Fame catcher kind of the master Craftsman of that throw to first which is a really tough one because you got to turn your hips the other way especially down from the Crouch too and he lines up on the outside here does Hernandez he awaits the target for the O2 fastball laced into right field that's a base hit Mathis will hold up at second but Grant Norris is aboard for the third time today but the first time he's knocked a base hit that's a great soccer Hernandez sets up outer third Koger meets that Target but Norris gets his Bat over the outside and just takes it the other way great pitching but great hitting to match it from Norris Norris now one for three on the day he walked in the first inning the first pitch to Josh Pine kind of a three-quarter swing he misses Norris reached on that walk in the first then an error in the third he came around to score on T.O Banks's two RBI single Banks do up in a couple batters pitch to Pine finds a Zone 0-2 that one there that kind of backed off pie and off the plate a little bit but it had some sharp break inward now koger's looking for that finishing pitch he's gone to that breaking ball to get a leg up on Pine let's see what he comes back with Runners on first and second two gone here's the pitch swing on and Miss strike three Pine may be tipped into the glove of Hernandez that time it didn't matter though that's going to be strike three they leave two on the base pass but still lead eight to nothing due to the Cavaliers here from Lowell Park and now we're gonna send things downstairs to our sideline reporter Lily Butler who is joined by a special guest who do you got with you Lily Ryan Delaney makes his way down from the booth and onto the field Ryan I've interviewed you plenty of times but today you're taking your shot at all the different baseball media positions so what do you got sideline reporter Ryan all right I got a couple questions for you Mike Mike we're gonna go rapid fire all right favorite interview you've done this year yours is that the right answer that works that works this one this one favorite part of being into it at the field hanging out in the booth with the guys all right and in your free time favorite other field in the league I have to say whatever all right oh it's not gonna like this Tyler Tyler come on time I've seen Tyler work out he's pretty favorite in-game snack um hot dog hot dog from Lowell Park this is Ryan Glennie and Lily Butler back to you go in Tyler yeah that was awesome that was awesome he's he might get the key to the city yeah the mayor of Couture you'll be missed but that was awesome interviewing Lily we don't get to see that no we don't I know the mic cut out right as she mentioned but just a great interview a dive in right field by the newly inserted right fielder you can't come up with it it bounces in there that's going to be a single for Garen Caulfield to lead off this top of the sixth inning and that's Trey younger almost made a diving catch on the first play of his cape League career 28 younger out of Wofford he replaces James McCoy in right field he almost brings that one down there but caufield's standing on First it brings up Tommy's Blaine who's two for two today with two singles we take strike one spleen really been swinging the bat as of late headed into this one in his last three games he was six for ten and now eight for his last 12. here's the pitch he gets hold of this one sky down the left field line but it's gonna twist foul oh go back to what we were talking about Ryan galaney downstairs with Lily got to be fun for her too I mean answering questions for the first time nothing that she's obviously not used to that she's usually the one asking the questions yeah and she handled that like the professional that she is I mean she is a prose Pro but you always wonder what gets away from Loma Vita on to Second goes Caulfield you always wondered Joe you know what it's like on the other side well Lily got to experience that so that was fun that was a fun interview and great answers too Delaney a true five tool player on and off the field he's been doing it all today broadcasting up here with us he was working down at the store selling merchandise he's had some time as a sideline reporter and of course the third baseman and he's got and he yeah that's important he's also got something cooking up too at I believe after this half inning that's right be sure to stay tuned some fans are getting some free merchandise here's the 2-2 flipped foul Tommy Spillane stays alive at two and two which we've gotten our fair share of today free merchandise courtesy of Cape Cod Five and our foam gloves these are awesome and of course the cotuit Center for the Arts will have a high five with the foam gloves cotuit Center for the Arts where you and I had some creative efforts Fly ball into right field he's under it as younger he makes the play and a nice throw a seed all the way across the field down to third but the runner stays that second that's Garen Caulfield hi well Trey younger showing off his Cannon for an arm he's played one third of an inning he's already made a diving attempt makes a catch and then fires a long long throw but a offered teammate like you said that's gonna be good I mean a smaller School in a big environment like this first pitch Tapper to Pine he Scoops it up on the forehand throw across to Tobias he got him what a play there by Josh Pine crashes in from the corner he gets Grant Sherrod and there's two gone Caufield moves up to Third I mean Josh Pine just continues to really put on a defensive show he's made some acrobatic tumbling catches and double plays he's made some high chop stops and that time he comes in Scoops it up and how about that pick by Tobias at first doing an awesome job over there he's talking with the first base umpire Joe Cruz the 1-0 outside there from Aiden Hunter at the College of Charleston this year a 4.19 era across 43 Innings pitched four and three record here's the pitch that one's outside so 3-0 here at adorian Gonzalez who struck out twice he's made two starts down there for Charleston 24 relief appearances batter's hitting a 228 clip against him here's the 3-0 that one just upstairs Ball Four he did that 16 times this year at the College of Charleston and the first time here on the cape he walks Dorian Gonzalez they'll be on the corners for Yadi Hernandez hey that's just a borderline pitch right there right on that low outside part of the zone a pitch that you call a ball or a strike and you're not really going to question either because it's just pinpointed right at that bottom and it's one that a pitch that you usually get in a 3-0 count or potentially but Mickey Garcia says that one's a little bit too high upstairs so Dorian Gonzalez will be on first gear in Caulfield is on Third and there's two gone in the inning a mound visit just to talk strategy ahead of Yanni Hernandez's third at-bat of the game he singled back in the second flew out to left in the fourth so this will be his third a b when we come back the cattle ears will be finishing up their fourth rotation of the order as we got an arm warming in the in the cotuit bullpen as Hernandez takes that one blowing away 81 on the slider that time from Aiden Hunter throwing from the right side we got another righty in the cotuit bullpen that's Brock Peery here's the pitch big swing there from Yadi Hernandez he's way on top of that 86 mile an hour off speed from Hunter Perfect Pitch that was just right underneath the hands of Hernandez and somehow he kind of swung over top it got kind of a closed stance he flips this one over the head of Hunter and Norris will just step on second to get the third out Cavaliers lead it eight to nothing and we go to the T-shirt toss here at Lowell Park some fans are going to do their best trying to snag a couple free T's all right Trio so how many t-shirts get tossed into the seats it's two per side right I think they have four or five Ryan Anderson is there and Ryan galaney will step in now he's gonna make a pinch slingshot appearance that one's popped into the stands it's in there perfect right down the middle from Delaney his second attempt is it enough it just barely hits the top of the fencing James McCoy with an assist now oh here he can't quite get it out McCoy finds the stands Delaney's third one is over what a shot there from Delaney pulls the string on this one over the grandstand touch them all there from Delaney and now Anderson will step in here's Ryan Anderson's throw down the left field line not enough [Applause] what a great effort there by the Cavaliers interns and of course Ryan galaney making that pinchling slingshot appearance in the T-shirt toss did a pretty good job he really did I mean he went one for one that's one of the tough things to start off with usually on on the mound a pitcher can find that a first pitch strike could be something easy to do or down three in one of the count but a first toss t-shirt I mean that's a tough thing to do the pressure's on you got all the eyes on you well maybe if you're on the mountain too or at the plate but Delaney he lived he lived up to the moment and I mean this Ryan Sawyer Lewis I mean everybody Grace everybody that's been out there they have just been putting on a performance I mean each game they just get better and better and better and you you throw around the term mid-season form lightly especially when you're through the mid-season they are they've been up to speed from the get-go they really have been and you know both of these offenses they take BP before games as a million Petro steps in from the left side first pitch from will Koger he's swinging he misses both teams will take BP before games but the T-shirt toss guys they don't they don't get a warm-up before the game they come into the game ice cold it's a tough situation to come into this one corked foul by petray that's a really tough thing to do I mean he come in and not sure how much you warm up how much time you get to warm up and then you got to come in and perform and they have been each and every night here's the O2 to petray tries to go back door with the slider can't quite bring it back [Music] a lot of wind here that flag and center field blowing straight out into the trees as this one's laced into right field that's a base hit for a million petray he's thinking too he's gonna hold up and he leads off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single he had that two run single back in the fourth this time he just slaps it pulls side into right sweet swinging left-hander another sweet swinging left-hander steps in now and Jacob Tobias Delaney was talking about that how Tobias has really been slapping the ball around really well as of late just been making great contact and he did so his last at-bat Delaney had the call on it ground her through the right side this one's lined into right field and fair down the right field line to both Tobias headed for second petray digging for third he'll hold up there they'll be on second and third for T.O Banks a double for Jacob Tobias yeah and that's exactly what Ryan was talking about Tobias just slams it down the right field line he takes some bat speed off his swing and it's just an easy easy follow-through right over the heart of the plate and Tobias continues his hot stretch two hits in his last two at-bats but he's reached base in all four played appearances today walked in the second reached on error in the third singled in the fourth and now a double here in the sixth here's T.O Banks nice block there by Yadi Hernandez keeps it in front of him especially at a moment with two runners in scoring position and nobody out he's going to need to play some good defense will Koger not doing him any favors spikes that one in the dirt if there's anybody that watches this broadcast and loves catching you just can't help but Marvel at that stop by Hernandez he has to move that right leg over so far and generate a lot of power off that leg so he can Circle under it get behind it and block it and all on a really hard moving breaking ball 102 Banks is outside tuno and seeing it well he walked in the second that two RBI single back in the first scored petray and Norris and now petray is on third Tobias on second a chance to drive in two more for to Banks the 2-0 home fastballing off his hands he fights it off towards that left side up and in with the fastball goes a Koger there and for banks the last time he was up it seemed like they were pitching him on the outside part of the plate that one goes up and in there and he does a good job turning on it Delaney of course saying that he loves that middle middle in fastball two on the banks on top of it lace foul again yeah I would love to see what the adjustment and the pitch sequencing has been here because back-to-back pitches low and in so maybe they found that the low part could be a good way to get a swing and Miss from Banks and Coker he's not afraid to pitch to the front door to a right-hand batter and he does it really well he doesn't hit a lot of guys here's the 2-2 Banks turns away from it but that time Hernandez sets up low and out he goes up and in up near that helmet of banks just it's all about finding the Zone meeting the target here on a on a payoff situation Coker spins that ball in his right hand looking in for the sign from Yadi Hernandez CEO Banks looking for his second base knock of the game the payoff pitch bounced in there Ball Four cattle ears load them up here in the bottom of the sixth for James McCoy this will be the fourth time that the cattle ears load the bases in this game alone and it looks like they're gonna look to bring in a new arm at that are the Wareham gateman that'll be the day for will Koger he was great through his two frames of work but has come in here in the bottom of the sixth inning given giving up a single to a million P tray a double from Tobias and then a walk for T.O Banks boy this bottom half of the order for the Cavaliers done a great job getting on base tonight when we come back James McCoy has the bases Juiced with a new pitcher on the mound and no gone in the bottom of the sixth inning eight to nothing activities and Priceless moments make your plans today for July 21st the Wareham gateman here as Trey younger steps in to make his first Kettle ears at bat he replaced James McCoy who was taken out of the game a couple Innings ago McCoy went one for three on the day and that makes way for Trey younger first pitch to him he sees he backs off of it inside for ball one good eye there from the younger 329 career hitter and he Taps that one foul off the equipment of Yadi Hernandez it rattles off The Back Fence one and one here and this was a guy in Jack tomich talking to some of the Wareham broadcasters Hayden blank Jack Hunter this is a guy that they talked about very excited about low 90s as a side armor blowing away but called to strike two he's a hard thrower he's got kind of a sliding fastball low 90s tops out at 95-14 low 90s here's the one too to younger it's upstairs above his letters two and two younger played in 102 Summer Games already that was in the North Woods League back in 2020 and 2021 a career 286 hitter up there the 2-2 is away and he's worked together Pretty Good At Bat here his first one on the cape league with the bases loaded gotta be a difficult situation to come into if you're Trey younger much like the guy who's on deck and Brock Wills his first Cape League at bat was an extra innings here's the Full Count pitch it's fouled away gotta love the energy from younger up there it looks like he is really locked into every single pitch very animated yeah it's kind of refreshing because you know this is like he's breathing new life into this ball club and he's ready to go the 3-2 Ball Four and so Trey younger making a difference early here he walks with the bases loaded that brings in Amelia and pietre and the Cavaliers add one to their lead they lead nine to nothing the base is still loaded here for the top of the order in Brock Wills I mean just a great at-bat there from younger not much else you can ask for I think the best swing and that at bat was that pitch he spoiled it was a gorgeous slider on that outer fifth there's a line shot into left center field that's a base hit Tobias screaming in from 30 scores what a nice hit there from Brock Wills keeps things going catalier's lead at 10 to nothing here in the bottom of the sixth inning it brings up Cole Mathis bases still loaded Community College of Charleston second hit of the game there for Brock Wills he's up to two for five and Cole hay Mathis steps in a two-way player out of the College of Charleston four home runs this year for the Cavaliers here's the pitch breaking ball upstairs 77 from tomich making his appearance out of Rollins College and this is a drive in a deep left field going back on it as Sherrod he's looking up he's at the fence it's out of his reach a grand slam fifth of the year for the Cavaliers and a new wood bat record in the Cape Cod Baseball League it's off the bat of Cole Mathis and they lead it 14 to nothing second Grand Slam for Mathis [Applause] players since 2011 to hit multiple grand slams support [Applause] that was an absolute no doubter that would bat record goes back to 1985 and cotuit did it in the first 27 games this season it almost just felt right Cole Mathis when he connects on pitches they go a long way and that's much similarly to a guy at the plate like Caleb Loma Vita and back to what Ryan galaney was saying this is a really tough lineup to face especially with that bottom half the power bats of Tobias who has been hitting seeing eye singles all night it seems here's a bounding ball to the left side Murillo charging in the throw across bounced in there it gets lomavita nice play there by Sebastian marillo and that's the first out of the bottom of the sixth inning they've undergone a pitching change in this one to take will Koger out of the game and bring in Jack tomich one run of those four were earned to him or excuse me two of the three of those runs were earned to him but the first couple that he gave up were earned to will Koger who started off the inning he put Banks Tobias and pietre on base those are guys who have really been having a knack for getting on base in these past couple games it's really supported this offense next pitch to Grant Norris sharply on the ground a high chop but an easy play for Tommy Spillane he steps on the bag and there's two gone well it just shows the importance of getting on base because this is a team Joe that has really cashed in with bases Juiced and again just a note on that cool Mathis Grand Slam he is the second player in the cape League this year to hit multiple Grand Slams Ryan galaney the other he is the sixth since 2011 to hit multiple grand slams in a year three of those guys have hit multiple Grand Slams against the same team 1-0 pitched a pie and hits him on the left shoulder that's one that gets away from tomich and pine it hit him and his back right around the shoulder blade but tough to pick his arm up that's not a good sign that left arm clearly in some discomfort yeah Daniel just kind of touching that left shoulder and wincing back in pain after that in a game like this Tyler a 14-nothing lead do you want to risk it and put him on first right now possibly not just because it's looking like he's going to be the guy that will play the majority of games at third and has played a really good third his bat's starting to pick up so you do have options Off the Bench and you might as well maybe use this opportunity to throw in a guy like shroud or Harlan Trevor Haskins maybe that have infield experience Harlan especially being kind of a utility guy hashkins maybe more a middle infielder but that could also be a good opportunity for them to break in so you're just kind of weighing the options as you can see the five Personnel conversing at the plate talking it over yeah it's gonna be the next batter petrae trainer Dan telling kind to just kind of loosen that left shoulder up he's jogging on down to First and you know looks like that's just one that kind of stung them wrung them up a little bit but it looks like he's gonna be just fine but clearly still kind of wearing it but exchanging some some laughs with Jacob Nemeth the first base coach so it looks like he's gonna be okay and he was the ninth batter to bat in this inning and here's the man who led things off in a million petray he takes that one way inside when pietre let off this inning the cattle ears had led eight to nothing there's now 14 on the board for cotuit here's the 1-0 to pietre Broken black bat little flare in the shallow left Center but Murillo's got it Cavaliers continue to pile on the runs here in the bottom of the sixth inning a great start to the inning from the top three but then it went back to the top of the order in Cole Mathis who blasted a grand slam his second of the summer they lead it 14 to nothing from Lowell park on the cattle ears digital Network you're listening to Kettle ears baseball on the cattle ears radio network tune in to all of our road broadcasts by and Priceless moments make your plans today for July 21st through the 24th for the induction of Fred McGriff and Scott Roland as the class of 2023. visit baseballhaul.org today for the entire schedule see you in Cooperstown where the journey becomes Legend hi this is Ryan galani the corner infielder 14 to nothing the Cavaliers lead here in the top of the seventh inning and we got a new pitcher on for the Cavaliers Brock Peery out of Arizona State on to make his second appearance of this summer and he will be pitching to a new hitter for the gateman here as they are down big in this one so just trying to mail it in for the final nine outs here a new third baseman in for the Cavaliers that pitch is in there down around the knees for a strike one to Lawson Harrell it looks like he will remain in the game and he Taps that one foul he's down Owen too that one off of the inner thigh of Loma Vita Trotter Harlan in at third so it looks like he'll be replacing Josh Pine who was caught high on one thrown by tomich back in the bottom of the sixth inning one that kind of caught him right at the middle of the back maybe underneath that left shoulder blade yeah so maybe not trying to take any chances in give Harlan the chance to play in Kato at for the 21st time Arlen playing in 20 regular season games for the Cavaliers last summer and Harold takes that one away he's out of the College of Charleston can play pretty much anywhere on the infield he's playing in at third right now here's a high fly ball into center field Banks starts back but he has to charge in he can't get it bounces right in front of his glove going to Second his loss and Harrell and he starts off this top of the seventh inning on second base yeah that one show one joint a lot farther than thing two he took a couple gigantic steps back and then came in but Harold looked like he might just got enough of it to have it come down and then get an extra base out of it let's see what they can do with it as it brings up Josh Stevenson former tiger future Buckeye and he takes strike one on the outside corner struck out twice today oh for two one from Peery side armor Twirls that one low and away it'll be interesting to see what Perry can do because his his two appearances they've come in games that have some larger leads came in that 16-7 win against Hyannis that's the outside part of the plate one or two when he gave up six earned runs on five hits but then proceeded to get out of that inning what showed a lot of strength but here he's coming in another similar situation down up 14 nothing this one's launched into left field Brock Wills moving back to his right he's got it towards the line and a nice throw in there to Trotter Harlan picks up the first out of the seventh inning and it brings up the top of the order in Bobby Bowser not the way Perry's pitchers kind of move downwards they just have a lot of natural sync to it which is usually what you get from side armors and you would think that would cause a lot of ground balls but a Fly ball into left there from Stevenson he got good wood on it and waved at and missed from Bowser there as the runner on second is Lawson Harrell he reached on a single and advanced a second on an error by the center fielder here's the pitch from Pirie to Bowser in there right around his knees at 76 just kind of scoots in there on the front door he's a head-on too got great control with that pitch here we're looking at the runner on second the payoff that one's away a little bit more velocity on at that time was that more of that two seam look and instead of that slider I think it could be and maybe he did take some speed often just pump it in it one two he goes back to the slider there it's tapped foul Perry pitched one inning Hyannis that was the top of the ninth where they put up sixth but it was a 16-1 game going into that inning and so just plenty of garbage time runs there for the harbor Hawks in that one and a tough start for Brock Perry this is another opportunity for him to kind of settle in here's the 2-2 to Bowser and they'll have to do it again at two and two bossier's been a tough out against ketua it's range base three times in this game he's got four hits in three games against the cats swung on and missed strike three he's retired for the first time today is Bobby boser he goes to one for two on the afternoon he reached base in all three of his first played appearances two walks in a single at a strikeout to that and Perry responding with back-to-back outs recorded and that's huge for his day because there aren't too many available arms out of the bullpen I mean never know but it could get to the point where because of where this game is at you could see a position player in at some point just because of the lack of options in the bullpen they use three relief arms in their last game against Falmouth a day off yesterday the O2 from Peery tipped off of Loma Vita off his midsection maybe off that wrist but he'll shake that off hey gives the thumbs up back to his pitcher Brock period they're going to do it again tough one there for Loma Vita just one that's tapped by Murillo one that he really can't react to as a catcher what's that like when when a ball is tipped right in front of your eyes as a catcher it stings you kind of blink a little bit that's for sure especially if you take one out also off the thumb that's one of the worst worst areas to get hit a foul ball that's kind of right off that bottom heel of the glove one two foul ball again [Music] again I I dropped a lot of balls at the catching position so it stung a lot there were a lot of balls that came off that that thumb area a real stinger one two from Peery lowing away there's a great story that Bob Uecker tells about catching Phil negro and knuckleballer and he talked about how it got to the point where he just couldn't catch his knuckleballs he would just wait for the ball to get all the way to the fence and then run to go get it the 2-2 is waved at unmist and the slider lowing away a perfect pitch from Brock Perry he gets Murillo to Chase right now and it's stretch time here at Lowell Park the cattle ears lead it 14 to nothing [Music] [Music] left field this ball is crossed I got two at cutlers and you're listening to the Cavaliers digital Network [Music] stay in touch with the cats on our the Catalina's digital Network [Music] Cape Cod coffee is a proud sponsor bottom of the seventh inning from Lowell Park the Cavaliers lead it 14 to nothing and a new pitcher on for the gateman it is Keegan Allen out of West Virginia and out of Prosper Texas on to make his sixth appearance of the summer he's gone six and two-thirds Innings so far this year and he'll have to face Jacob Tobias and the bottom third of this Cavalier's order and boy have they been hot especially Jacob Tobias who has come up to the plate four times today and he has reached base in all four of those trips a walk reached on an error a single and a double after that T.O banks on Deck he's also breach based in all four of his played appearances and that one's on the outside corner for strike one two Tobias 93 on the gun from Keegan Allen Joe the bottom four in Petrie Tobias Banks and then McCoy slash Trey younger they've reached base 12 times the 01 flipped high and fell and a major shows you how they can hit from top to bottom in the lineup they really can all nine guys in this lineup can hit the O2 to Tobias takes that one low in the dirt and they can see the ball really well and Tobias one of those guys definitely [Music] he's worked a walk today he came around to score on it that was in the second inning since then there's been 13 runs scored a drive to the right side nice stat snag there by Gonzalez and he has the 4-3 put out first out here of the seventh inning Jacob Tobias these are just that he's made I mean these are just hard hit ropes that maybe one hop or two hop the back of the infield but a Nifty stop there by Gonzalez which kind of moving to his left a little bit and he plays it perfectly a nice waist high forehand stop and out first pitch to Teo Banks is right in there 81 with the slider from Allen fifth pitcher to throw in this game for the gateman he is ready the 0-1 it bounces up there gets away from Hernandez no runs six hits and four errors on the board for the gateman 14 runs 14 hits and two errors for the Cavaliers been a little bit lopsided to this point the 1-1 the banks Skies this one into left field going back on it as Murillo he'll be called off by Sherrod who brings it down be interesting to see Joe at 7 28 right now Sunset around 8 15 how that's going to affect these outfielders as they kind of fight that sun that's peaking below the trees and it's just kind of shining through it's finding these little gaps and you're seeing an opening down the right field line so maybe Harold could be a little bit affected there first pitch to Trey younger over the glove of Dorian Gonzalez and that's a base hit the first of the summer for Trey younger welcome to the Cavaliers he has himself a walk and a base head here in the bottom of the seventh inning and it's just an aggressive sweet swing he was a 360 hitter this year at Wofford had over 80 hits and he shows just that why he did that this year that it was well played too by Gonzalez at second just over his outstretched glove yeah he really got up to his Apex there and the ball was just a couple inches above the leather of his glove Gonzalez plays a great second base over there he had that really nice play to start off this inning that was to Rob Jacob Tobias of his second or third hit of the night this one gets away from Hernandez on to Second goes younger and he'll move up one spot with two outs here in the bottom of the seventh Brock Wills back at the plate he's two for five drove in a run as last time up an RBI single and he was on first when Cole Mathis hit the Cavalier's fifth grand slam of the year and he stands on Deck right now one one home Wills takes away and King and Allen ever since he gave it five runs and a third of an inning and six batters faced in his June 21st debut so don't give it a three earned runs after that 2-1 he's perfectly places an 89 mile an hour pitch on the outside part of the plate right there and evens it at two and two and his next appearance he was the winning pitcher in that 7-2 win against kotuit at Spillane field here's a 2-2 Wills a high chop up the middle Gonzalez there he throws on to Third as he was ranging into center field but that one's not in time it holds up younger there interesting move as Brock Wills is safe at first yet not sure necessarily what Gonzalez was thinking of doing there maybe he looked to first saw that Wills was going to beat it out so quickly through the third thinking he might have a beat on younger and although younger had pretty much had that beat now it almost kind of looked like the right decision because younger took it round around third it's blocked there by Hernandez of course younger might have thought that the inning potentially could have been over there had Gonzalez thrown across the diamond across his body to first but he didn't there's two outs in the inning still and Runners on the corners Mathis launches this one through the left side that's a base hit Cole Mathis just keeps on swinging it he follows up his second grand slam of the summer with an RBI single here in the bottom of the seventh I mean what can he do he's gonna win as a pitcher he's got to save as a pitcher he's got two grand slams and he's now got a five ribby day shake that he's got a six ribby day first pitch to Loma is blowing away and that one did go down as a single for Brock Wills who stands on second now so he is three for six on the day 1-0 to Loma Vita that one down low again first six run batted in game for Cole Mathis since April 15th at Monmouth he had two homers in that ball game that'll do it he just needed one Homer tonight to reach that six RBI Mark of course he had some help with that Sac fly in the second and then this RBI single here in the seventh as the catalers now lead at 15 to nothing with a 3-0 count here's the pitch he gets a hold of this one driven into deep left field going back on it as shared this one is up and it has gone into the trees another home run for Caleb lomavita and the cattle ears have blown the top Way open in this one they lead it 18 to nothing they've scored four they've scored 16 runs four times in the last four years but this time they eclipsed that in score 18. and no doubt Blast from Loma Vida Sherrod gave great Chase to the wall but I mean this offense has been quite lethal over the last three games three run Blast for Loma Vita that's gotta feel good he did that 16 times this year for the Cal Bears and that's his second this season second at Lowell Park Grant Norris even down with a fastball there from Keegan Allen one and one Nora Supply ball into left field the yard will hold it this time as Grant Sherrod picks that one up and that's the third out here in the bottom of the seventh inning catalier's lead at 18 to nothing as we go into the top of the eighth on the kettle ears digital Network and we'll be joined down at field level with our sideline reporter Lily Butler what do you got indoor and outdoor dining check out Cape Cod coffee at their three locations on Route 130 three games played for the Cavaliers as this 01 a little bit inside from Peery one and one drove in 14 guys across 18 hits 1-1 flip foul by spleen who is one for three on the day two singles to start off his night then a Fly ball to right field it's Blaine been swinging the back great he's got eight hits in his last four games played this game included that one's inside strike three called front door slider from Brock Perry he picks up his third K of the evening and there's two gone that's where sidearm pitchers Joe can just be disgusting as as Ryan galaney put it earlier in this game when he joined the broadcast because when when you're opening up that front door there it's tough to get a barrel on because of the movement in the arm slot it's a really deceptive pitch Grant Sherrod takes lowing in it's one that's really difficult to read because of that release point it's low and it kind of stays low big swing and a miss there from Sherrod 76. and you can see Perry making an adjustment to really pitch low you definitely don't want to hang pitches up high from the sidearm angle this one's just a little bit too low two in one well Mike Roberts was talking about in the post game with Lily yesterday how he looks for guys and using Jake eagliati as an example to throw low and when you throw low and you throw strikes you're going to expect to win the ball game 2-1 a high fly ball over the visiting grandstands out of play in the tree Terry set here's the 2-1 another foul ball two and two Grant Sherrod working up the counties over three on the day two strikeouts so looking to battle here trying to get a hit on the board I've had the stats a little bit as the cattle ears lead 18 to nothing 2-2 home Perry strikes him out fourth K of the night for Brock Peery in his second relief appearance of the year and the Cavaliers leading it 18 to nothing as we go into the bottom of the eighth inning but looks like we're there gonna call it short as we get the notion from the home plate umpire Mickey Garcia as time and sunshine are running out here at Lowell Park here on this Sunny Thursday evening as the bullpen Sprints in from Left Field to celebrate this 18 to nothing win and he could just see the smiles of this ball Club winning is fun but it seems like this team just has a special energy about them and it went like this certainly cements it I mean what an offensive performance it was and it kind of overshadows too the pitching that we saw today in Brock Perry an example of that he comes in after giving up six earned against Hyannis and he responds and he ends up finishing his day with multiple strikeouts yeah Perry went a couple innings and he picked up a couple strikeouts at that period going to and it was Aiden Hunter to make his debut but we are here in the booth we got our free foam baseball gloves courtesy of Cape Cod Five we have our free sunglasses from Cape Cod Five today these are awesome they really are yeah high five yeah nothing beats glove fives that's for sure yeah glove five but no a a great jail together fun broadcast great to be with everybody I mean the crew nailed it today and of course Wareham they continue their struggles a really good offense especially have the gatemen they really do and they are amongst the league lead in run scored but they're also amongst the lead league in runs given up and that's something that they did a lot of tonight an 18 to nothing deficit as cotuit picks up there 20th win on the season they go to 27-0 as the gateman go to 10 15 and 2 they have lost four straight and they lose here tonight at Lowell Park by a big margin Mike Roberts talking things over with the entire Kettle ears team down there in front of the Dugout on the third base side and he'll be joined down that field level with a live interview with Lily Butler in just a few moments so we got to talk about Cole Mathis the Grand Slam cattle ear setting the new wood bat record five salamis through 27 games that goes back to when they switched from aluminum to wood in 1985 see some celebrations for Caleb Loma Vita he hit that home run the second year veteran but Mathis putting together another offensive Master Class six runs batted in a pair of RBI singles and then that grand slam there's a lot to smile about over in that cattle ears huddle over there as they started off the scoring right away right there in that bottom of the first inning and RBI single off the bat of Josh Pine after Caleb Loma Vita got on base with a single of his own and he came around to score that was huge there Pine driving in that first run of the game he reached base once more in the evening on a hit by a pitch but was then taken out but then after that they put up three in the bottom of the second to put up a four to nothing lead on the gateman some extra insurance there on a Sac fly from coal Mathis who went on to have a pretty good second half of the game himself it was really his Grand Slam that blew the whole thing open as they had that four-nothing lead after two six to nothing after three eight to nothing after four and needless to say they added a few more on after that looks like Ryan galani's talking to the team right now looks like this could be his last day he's leaving this weekend like he was talking about he's saying his plan so he's talking to the team a second year veteran he's living out a lifelong dream but a lot of positive energy surrounding this this cattle air Squad and not the last time these two teams are going to square off so wear him get a look for some Revenge when they meet next two more trips to Spillane field as well two more trips to the shark cage right above that Wareham dugout so we'll be sure to make the most of that experience it's really fun when we head over to Spain field and a little over there a couple more times this year but as far as the gatemen are concerned with Lowell Park they have lost a couple at this venue and a big one here tonight as Lily Butler will be joined by Mike Roberts for post game after their 20th win of the Season Lily will send it down to you right now joined alongside head coach Mike Roberts after teen nothing shutout Victory against the Wareham gateman for the ketuit keteliers coach tonight especially but recently the offense has just been electric was there any sort of adjustment in the past few days that has contributed to that no I just think uh I think all nine guys have gotten involved and that's when we have a pretty good offense when instead of four or five guys well if you got all nine guys involved excuse me and that's that's occurred over the last few days and excuse me you know that that can't stay probably uh but I'm I'm I love our pitching staff they're throwing strikes uh and our defense has been good so it's a combination of everything and the guys like to play together I think that's pretty obvious and they love playing at Laurel Park well you know our fans are so so great and you know just a beautiful afternoon of Cape Cod League Baseball beautiful afternoon indeed and then speaking of just that team effort got a look at some of the newer guys on the roster tonight Brock Perry Trey younger just what's an overall first impression of some of those guys oh I think they fit in great I think they fit out you know Trey definitely does come from Wofford my former player who just left there is the new coach of Boston College uh Todd International but uh he he's he's really a good solid veteran player just like Ryan galani was and we know a lot about Trotter Harlan and he played here last year and to get him out there you know it's like coming home again uh Johnson will be behind the plate tomorrow and give along with a day off and uh Martinez will start we actually will have two guys in the lineup tomorrow that are flying in they won't even land uh until tomorrow I think couple driving in tonight so see you'll see a lot of new people out there tomorrow but hopefully uh you know we'll blend everybody and we'll have a positive game at Falmouth tomorrow that's exciting coach and thank you so much for joining me tomorrow the cattle ears will travel to Falmouth to take on the Falmouth Commodores we'll have all that on the kettle ears radio network from Lowell Park I'm Lily Butler thank you Lily and thank you coach Roberts after his 20th win as the Cavaliers manager this season and he has 420 plus wins in total but not too many like the one tonight and 18 to nothing win for the Cavaliers and they look to keep that offense rolling into tomorrow when they take on the Falmouth Commodores fourth place in the west division as they are taking on the Bourne Braves right now at Doran Park and they lead them six to two in the bottom of the seventh but that's gonna do it for us here on the cattle ears digital Network for myself Tyler danberg Liam Barrett Abigail lot and Lily Butler and also our special guest Ryan galaney the newest member of this broadcast team he did a great job today we wish him the best of luck moving forward and we'll see you tomorrow night from Falmouth first pitch at 6 p.m on the cattle ears Radio Network foreign
