everyone it's competitive cosplay here and in this video I'm going to show you guys how to make super cute animal ears for consulate for the base of the ear structure I'm using black worbla worbla is really thin but also strong so it's perfect for the inside of an ear I dropped my pattern for my ears onto the wobbler and then cut them out with some scissors worbla is a thermoplastic which means it can be shaped when it's heated up I'm taking my heat gun and gently heating up the worbla piece evenly then I'm gently bending and curving my ear until I'm happy with how it looks once the worbla cools down it will be hard again and keep its shape I check the ears against my wig and a mannequin head to make sure the size and shape is right before moving on now for the fur for roughed areas ears I'm using a cream and orange brown colored fake fur I used my ear pattern just like before to draw onto the fur at the back I added an extra centimeter of seam allowance around the sides and then cut out the pieces with my craft knife using a knife to cut fur will make sure that you don't stub the fur around the edges before I pin the two pieces of fur together I'm taking a brush and brushing all the fibers of the fur inwards and away from where I'll be sewing this will minimize how much fur gets stuck between the stitches once the fur is brushed inwards I can then take my pins and pin the two pieces of the ear together with the fur facing inwards I then take my pinned ear pieces and using my sewing machine and a straight stitch I sew around the edges where I drew my lines to join the pieces together now I can take my ears and flip them inside out again so the fluffy side is the right way round you will see that some of the fibers of the fur will be stuck between the stitches you can use a brush to help brush and pull these back out you can also pull some of the stuck pieces out with any kind of pointed tool once I've pulled out all the fur from the seams I can then flip the ear inside out again and trim off any excess fabric inside cutting off the excess fabric inside will make sure that the ear doesn't look bulky now you can flip the ears back out again to the fluffy side and pull it over your Warbler ear structure to make sure it fits at this point the ear just looks like a big furry blob it doesn't really look like a real ear so now I'm going to trim off a lot of the hair and shave it down to give the first a more dimension animal ears will generally have shorter fur around the top with some longer Tufts of fur inside the ears and at the base so I've pulled my fur over my ear bass and then with my scissors I'm trimming the fur to about where I want it to be I'm cutting off a lot of fur all the way around the top of the ears and the sides and the back then I'm also trimming the fur in the center of the ear but being careful to leave fur just on the inside of the ear by the curve and a bit of longer fur towards the bottom corner when trimming the fur make sure you work slowly and don't cut off too much at once it's easy to come back and trim more fur away but once it's cut off it's gone now that I've roughly trimmed the fur where I needed it to be it's looking more like a real ear the next step is to even out the fur and refine the shape further with a shaver when you cut fur with scissors it can look a little bit choppy so using a shaver can make the fur look a lot more blended and even I'm shaving all over the spots that I cut blending out the cuts I made and shaving the fur even closer at the tips of the ears the ends of the ears is where the fur will be the shortest so I'm doing a very close shave there if you're doing is for a Lynx or a fox with fluffy tips you just need to make sure you leave longer pieces at the top each animal ear is going to be a bit different so make sure that you're looking at reference for what you want to achieve when shaving fur I also recommend using a dust mask or shaving over a vacuum cleaner the fur particles go everywhere and can make your nose and Airways very itchy now that my ear is shaved you can see that there's a lot of variation in the length of the fur this will give you a more realistic looking ear the next step is to color the fur and make it look a little bit more interesting to start coloring the fur I'm using hair chalk hair chalk is colorful chalk which is used to add temporary color to human hair but I like to use it for fur as well because it's a quick and easy method to add color I'm taking my ear and from the inside curve I'm using the chalk to draw on some color then I can take my brush and use it to brush it and blend it out I also like to use airbrush paints and a toothbrush to color my ears airbrush paints have really good staying power and won't come off when washed which is why I like to use them I take my airbrush paint which I've mixed with some airbrush thinner and I dip my toothbrush into the mixture I then carefully start to paint onto the ear where I want the color to be I brush it and move the paint around with my toothbrush to help spread it through the fibers I also use a hairbrush to help pull the paint further and blend it out more I'm darkening the ear from the center and adding a gradient outwards I'm also adding a bit of darker color to the edges around the ear to help make the transition between the two colors of fur a bit more blended I'm making sure to leave both the Tufts of fur on the inside of the ear and at the corner clean so that they stay nice and bright just continue to add paint and brush it out until you get the desired color and effect when I'm happy with the paint I can then let it dry and once it's dry we can begin attaching the fur to the base of the ear I'm going to take my fur piece and pull it over the warbler base then using some hot glue I'm going to glue the fur down into the inner curve of the ear and all the way along the bottom once the fur is glued down I can then cut off any excess fur around the bottom if the flaps at the bottom are still open you can use some more hot glue to glue them shut now for the finishing touches I'm taking my ear and using my scissors to cut off any stray hairs and refine the shape of the hair Tufts I'm also styling the fur and pressing it flat with some hairspray now that the fur is all styled I'm adding a little bit of additional color I'm taking some of the white hair chalk again and going all the way around the edges adding a highlight I'm then going to add some more brown and orange shadows inside the ear using eye shadow yes eyes shadow I'm taking a little bit of brown and orange pigmented eyeshadow and applying it inside the ear with a soft brush I'm also using my brush and a toothbrush to help spread it more evenly through the fibers just continue to build up the color until you are happy with how it looks these extra bits of light and shadow detail will take your ears to the next level and make them look extra realistic now that the ears are complete we need to be able to attach them to our heads so for this I like to use some wig clips or extension Clips I take a small clip out and using some hot glue I glue it to the underside of the ears pressing it into the fibers these clips are really small so they stay hidden well you can add two clips to make sure they're extra secure you can then take the ears with the clips slip the clip over a little bit of hair and press the clip down so it snaps into place and now your ears will be seamlessly on your head if you guys would like to get the full
