howdy hello guys and gals we're back and today we're finally gonna rank all of the cordless tools in the 18 to 20 to 24-ish kind of Realm if we're you're gonna finally figure out where your tools end up or the tools you're thinking about buying how you should compare them and for that ranking system we're going to be using the tier list now if you've not been around the internet in the past five ten years you've missed out so what this is is it's your standard A B C D and F ranking system you know your grading system plus an S tier that goes above all of that into the superior level I think they use this kind of this kind of grading system in Japan or Asia or something anyway let's jump into it we're going to start off here with one of the more unknown Brands here just to kind of set the stage because typically what I've talked about is we talked about entry level DIY prosumer value pro and pro well that's going to be your A B C D and F and then we're going to go above that with the superior grade so first off we've got green works now Greenworks is a 24 volt system it's brushless uh well they have brushed and brush but looks like they're leaning towards the brushless side which typically would put me when I would rank it in the C system it does some good performance but they don't have a huge line of tools and until they really establish themselves we're going to put them down here in the entry level the DIY kind of level system that entry entry is the F tier kind of rank this is going to be your typical weekend where your DIY kind of stuff all right next up we're going to talk about some servon tools now Siobhan makes a wide assortment of Brands here you're gonna probably be surprised the first one we're going to talk about is over at Menards Menards the third largest tool hardware store in the U.S think of Home Depot and Walmart had a baby it's that amazing uh anyway they're brushed tools I'm going to put down here at the entry level they're good solid tools they do the job there's nothing flashy they're okay kind of power but you know what they're they're just at that kind of tier then we've got their brushless tools and their brushless are going to come in at that solid prosumer grade kind of tool now they've got a new one that a lot of people don't realize is they've come out with a brushless compact that's going to come into that tier as well these are solid if you want that extra level of performance and features especially in that compact form factor which I'm a big fan of that would that's in that prosumer grade and that's exactly where you want to be now let's talk about one you may not recognize but maybe you do and that is Denali now Denali is an Amazon brand but guess what Amazon doesn't make anything they certainly don't make Power Tools this is in fact if you read the fine print it says Denali buys skill these are skill tools they use the skill batteries they're exactly the same they're just gray and say Denali on them sold by Amazon and as such they're going to fall into that entry-level DIY kind of level there they they're good quality tools they're well made they have a good warranty and on top of it Amazon being their brand they can take a loss on it to establish the brand they've been having some really fantastic sales but then of course that much is going to mean that the skill brand is going to fall right in there and then there's the skill brushless which much like the Menards of course again this is another servant tool is going to fall into that prosumer great excellent tools really big fan of them uh it's I just wish the only thing that really holds them back is they need a bigger line but you want to talk about one the one tool that has really established the prosumer brand is that basically we're it if you're looking for a prosumer we're in for a long time they were it and that is Cobalt Cobalt has a fantastic line of tools everything 24 volt everything brushes great tools the only thing better than that is Cobalt XTR now this is going to fall into our value Pro kind of line I just wish in Cobalt if you're listening I know you're made by Siobhan but Lowe's owns the brand they gotta invest in it we need more or XTR tools I don't think there's anybody who's bought and owned an XTR who will not disagree with me who will disagree with me on that one but then that brings us up who's the the big daddy in the Siobhan pool and that of course is flex Flex is where it's at as they've said clearly you know a lot of people give him a a a a a bit of a headache when they first launched yeah some of the marketing was a bit cheesy a bit over the top but the fact the matter is the tools have performed everyone wanted to hate on them and yet they still did it and people are starting to go okay it was cheesy marketing but the tools are really doing what they're saying they're doing they are the top performers out there in many categories I can tell you best reset saw I have ever used in I resub saws or our passion for me that's that's what my first power tool I ever bought for professional use as a contractor was a recip saw and I got to tell you uh I it's just an absolute absolute dream to use that saw now they've also got a another tier that is they're also brushless I I want to say that they're in that professional grade but I'm gonna put them down here in value Pro because they bring so much to the table at less of a cost you lose a few of the features from the top of the line uh flex stuff but you still get the lifetime warranty at least through the end of this year this is now three years going they've offered the light today warranty will it continue forever we don't know but right now it is and now there's another one they've got and that is compact they have a compact line they're coming out with that just makes this brand Rock even harder all right enough about Siobhan we've talked about them those are all the Siobhan tools out there really astounding isn't it let's talk Ye Olde Harbor Freight all right and of course talking about Harbor Freight means talking about budget tools and that of course means the warrior line used to be the the budget uh you know the budget Drill Master kind of stuff and uh some Chicago Electric in there anyway the warrior tier tier line is going to come in right down here it is definitely an entry level tool they're very inexpensive they're very uh cost effectively made I would only recommend buying these tools if you need something that's disposable or you just can't afford anything else if you take care of the tools you baby a little bit you can get through most jobs with them but they're not gonna you're not gonna be happy in using them now the other thing is Bauer oh my gosh Bauer came out and has just basically rocked the budget Tool World they're clearly falling into that DIY homeowner grade tool they've really expanded the brand they have a ton of tools they are clearly you know foot on the ground when it comes to being an established tool line at this point they have a ton of tools in that 20 volt lineup uh and uh you know and just a great tool the only thing holding them back from being a prosumer grade tool is brushless oh wait they have brushless now and those brushless tools we're going to put that up here in this prosumer grade or should we it's really hard to say because the the fact is they still come with that 90 day warranty but I got you what the performance on them has just been fantastic especially if you've seen the new impact wrenches and stuff like that they're clearly falling into that prosumer grade Harbor Freight you upgraded the warranty on the the Hercules stuff would love to see that happen with the Bauer I know I beg for it to happen with the the Hercules 12 volt and it did maybe they're listening let's all bow our heads and pray to the the heads of Harbor Freight that they hear our prayers all right but speaking of Hercules we got to talk about Hercules the Hercules brushless uh I'm gonna put in it's as I said before it's the best made or say I said brushless I meant to say brushed it's the best made brush tool that I've seen it's a fantastic tool you could use it for professionals I know Pros who do use it but I'm going to put it in that value Pro Line but I'll tell you what their new professional grade brushless tools have just been knocking it out of the park the impact wrench just going toe-to-toe with Milwaukee the impact driver beating Milwaukee beating almost everybody it's in it's insane how those are doing uh I I would put those up in the a tier except for one thing there needs to be more of them more of them and but I'll tell you what at that pricing though value Pro value Pro I think is where it's at I think that's probably what some of the best bang for the bucks out there that XTR the the base level uh Flex the the Hercules value Pro is just a phenomenal level to be at all right now let's let's change manufacturers and let's go to positec now positech they're the people who make works and some other ones but a lot of people don't know they have an Internet only brand called Westco now this Westco brand is going to fall right solidly into the the mid to lower tier of I I'm it's called mid-tier DIY there's actually some pretty good tools in the brand is really cost effective it's easy to get you can get on Amazon a bunch of online kind of places it's a solid you know just DIY level brand now their Works brand what used to be in that category and I would say that they're brushed tools still fall into that same D level category but their new Nitro stuff is fantastic and as such it's going to go up into the protein no it's going to go into that entry level position also and the reason being is there's just not enough of a lineup uh it's uh it's right now I think it's Internet only I don't know any retailers who are selling it there they've sent me their uh their drill driver and their impact I was duly impressed but it did not feel like a prosumer grade tool it felt like a top tier consumer grade all right now they're they're big daddy here though is cat this is their new professional grade and as such it's but it doesn't have enough of a lineup it hasn't been established it should probably end up in this uh value Pro kind of level but uh we're gonna put it at prosumer right now until it gets a broader lineup and gets more established all right now let's talk about the probably one of the biggest tool companies out there and that is TTI now TTI of course we got we talked TTI we gotta talk Ryobi right OB down here coming in clearly at that that solid I mean that's where they made their Mark they made their bread and butter it's that consumer grade kind of tool and they had brushes for a while but they've come out now with even better brushes called HP brushless which in fact it jumps straight from here over this straight into that value Pro level they are that good I'm not a fan of the battery style and I wish they could change the battery style but I don't see it happening but the the tools are that good you got to consider them in that value Pro level now they're kissing cousin their heart uh this one is definitely coming in at that that lower tier DIY we use them a lot around the RV they're Fantastic Tools uh they're great budget and the fact is when you're traveling your RV there's always a a Walmart nearby in fact no matter where you live in the US Walmart is not that far away all right now they've come out with a brushless one which would like to say it goes into that prosumer grade but you know what it doesn't I'm just going to put it right here as a top tier degrade tool it's going to be that that high-end uh you know entry high-end DIY level it's not going to be quite good enough to fall into that prosumer grade I'm I'm sorry I just I'm not seeing it all right now we're stepping up a notch over at TTI and let's talk about rigid now rigid brushless is definitely going to be an entry level to I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying it but we're going to put it in an entry level tool here now the brushed or the brush that's the brush not the brushless now the brushless one that one is definitely going to fall into that kind of I I want to put it in the value Pro but they don't have a huge line and on top of the lifetime service agreement they're not really doing a great job of standing up for it and really making sure that everyone that they that they follow through on it so we're going to put it down here at that prosumer grade level tool but one I I can't deny is the new sub compacts and that's the way basically rigid flew too close to the Sun got a little too big for its bridges and was contesting with Milwaukee Milwaukee smacked them down and said no you're not going to do that so they took away all their octane fun and now they said you're going subcompact you're going to be the TTI subcompact Grant Milwaukee's got full size and they've got uh I say it's they call it sub combat but it's really it's a to Milwaukee has the subcompact in the M12 but if you want a full power compact it's going to be this one right here and this is going to land in that value Pro lineup that's where that's when it's going to live now let's talk about Milwaukee we're talking about Milwaukee let's talk about Milwaukee the brushed one that's when it's easy that's going to fall into believe it or not a value Pro it is that good now the the fuel one is clearly it goes straight up here right up to the a level it is a top tier tool it's a fantastic tool people have been using it for years yeah they've had a few hiccups in the past couple years with some of their tools not quite living up to the name but they pull them back and they do the right thing and they fix them that goes where then does the value pro market level where does this one come in this brushless and the fact of the matter is it really needs to come down into this value Pro because you get it on sale it usually only goes on sale around the holidays that's when they really there's just isn't a lot of room for that mid-tier kind of stuff so uh you only see around the holidays and when and it's out it's on sale all right enough for TTI let's talk Stanley Black and Decker the 800 pound gorilla in the room the name brand Black and Decker is going straight down to the bottom avoid this at all costs now hold on let me expand the uh the screen here so you can see all the tears there we go they're down here at the bottom because they've just basically abandoned the brand you can still find a lot of it online but in stores it's next to impossible to find speaking of abandoning a brand oh my gosh you poor old Porter Cable what happened they were all in on Porter Cable then it just didn't really come into being and then they found a new love in Craftsman and Porter Cable gut kicked out and sent over sent to the miners over at Tractor Supply I'm going to call the brushed stuff for Porter Cable an entry level or a a I keep calling it entry level a a DIY level but they do have a brushless level and we're gonna put it right next to it just better it's going to be a low tier entry or DIY level and versus a high tier DIY level and the reason is there's not enough stuff in the brushless stuff it's uh the batteries are non-existent as far as you know different types of batteries and stuff uh and the charging system you gotta if you want a real charge you got to pay extra the availability of use you got to go to Tractor Supply or buy it online it's just not really worth it they're good they're decent quality tools but they were never able to keep up and they're supposed to match the pace with rigid they never did and and at the end Ryobi with their their brushless stuff and eventually the HP just outpaced them and uh they're like we gotta we gotta switch horses here and they switch to Craftsman so let's talk Craftsman all right the Craftsman here we got it right here this is the brushed one from Craftsman and it's going to come down here and it's it's basically an updated Porter Cable but not updated so much that it's that much better the brushless one however clearly is and it's going to fall solidly in that prosumer rank it's an excellent tool again same problem that often gets held same thing happened with with Porter Cable the battery system lets it down the accessories and and such let it down uh it they have really expanded the the system they re they pulled it back rebranded and relaunched the v20 uh the the uh the rmp line it's it's a great line uh the price though is a bit up there you can buy the same or better from Cobalt for the same price so but it it definitely is if you're in that line it's not a bad line I just wish there were more battery options but in a more affordable battery options for you speaking of which Stanley Black and Decker the Big Boy the Black and Yellow Black and Decker is of course DeWalt and this is the brushed one from DeWalt and the entire brush line at DeWalt is I'm sorry I'm gonna put it right down here at the bottom it's a terrible line it hasn't been updated in years uh it's way overpriced way overpriced for what it is it comes with substandard batteries a substandard charger it's to be avoided at all costs then we have the XR the XR line goes straight up here just Toe to Toe with Milwaukee and with flex I gotta say they were asleep for years and we ragged on Black and Decker like I keep calling Black and Decker because when they came out that's what we all thought of them as but uh we we ragged on on DeWalt for years for just being basically being asleep at the wheel and they were and then the last year and a half they woke up like the sleeping Dragon they were and just basically revamped their system and just home run after home run after home run just great tools and I got even being a Stanley Black and Decker critic I have to admit when you make a good tool you make a good tool now if only we could get uh cost effective batteries and real customer service you'd you'd have a real home run then we have the same problem with their brushless line that's their Goldilocks level it's just basically not given any love except for in the holidays where they roll it out and uh and like oh you should definitely get this I would I would even say uh I don't even know if I would put it into the value Pro I would probably knock it down into a good solid prosumer grade I'm sorry it's only a three year warranty we look at five year lifetime service agreement three year five year lifetime five year it just it doesn't match up with any of the other ones that are in the value Pro it's going to be in the prosumer market okay now let's have some fun let's get you know we're talking Stanley Black and Decker let's talk tool truck a little bit early here uh and we got to talk about Mac Mac Tools they are they we're going to lump the brushed and the brushless together in the same series and put them up here at the a class they take the same batteries they use the same Chargers as DeWalt they're interchangeable now why does the brushless not fall down because it's built to a higher level of quality all the Mac stuff is built to resist oil and chemicals and stuff like that it's got better Plastics and and Coatings in it to resist the stand stuff you're going to find in an automotive Bay so whether we have now I'll put the brushless up there with it both of those ones are going to fall up there in in the a tier they're just uh they're just that well made uh now let's see here let's talk about some uh someone else that uh we'll talk about their baby brother first one that is Hitachi AKA now called matabo HPT and the brushed version of that is going to fall solidly into your DIY level but the brushless one goes straight up into that value Pro these are awesome tools with a lifetime warranty on all their lithium power tools lifetime here though means the lifetime of the tool as long as they make that tool they make that tool for 20 years it's warranted for 20 years if they make it for two years well you only get two years out of it so but there the value on them especially when they go on sale is is can't be can't be me uh matched really uh now let's talk about their the the big boy the big brother there and that's mataba we're gonna put both of those metabas I'm gonna put the uh both of those up here in the a that's the brush and the brushless they're they're designed and built for the professional market and that's where they Excel all right I know you've been waving this one and we're going to talk Makita here so let's talk Makita first off we're going to talk about Makita brushed uh I I'm gonna put this in the value Pro kind of tier it it's good enough to be Pro level but you know what it's just it they haven't updated in a long time uh and uh when they're on sale they're a great deal but you know they're really no match when you're talking about the brushless Makita which goes clear into the a level as well as the brushless Sub Compact they kind of invented that full power Sub Compact level those are definitely a tier kind of tools Makita is I'm a huge fan the only thing really holding Makita back and definitely keeping the brush out of that a tier is they're still limited three year warranty and the pricing on these things all right and the other big name that like them the cast stuck around really hasn't changed much is Bosch of course the Bosch brushless say that three times Bosch brushless going straight to the a tier and the the brush stuff I'm going to do the same thing we're going to put it in that value Pro when it goes on sale they're actually a great deal brushed often gets overlooked in the looking for brushless kind of stuff I get it you don't get all the whizbang features you don't get the same top tier performance but you get reliability and you get ease of Maintenance when you're talking about brushed now let's talk about some really kind of uh high-end stuff here let's talk about Snap-on snap-on's Tools again I know they're no more no known more for impact wrenches and stuff but we're going to put them up here at the a tier as well uh and then wait I gotta expand the the list again all right so they're coming at the A-list there because uh they're just the price and everything I mean they have they don't have that greater warranty surprisingly enough uh and uh they they do have some great stuff but uh compared to some what we're gonna see in the eight here like let's talk about Hilti Hilti I mean at the same level performance maybe the same level of build I think they're slightly better built but the what comes with Hilti what takes it to the S tier is the whole ecosystem and the service that comes with Hilti this is a company that will drive out to pick up your tool to service in this in many cases what you're buying with Hilti is you're buying a whole environmental solution uh in that it's it's from getting the tools in fact often you don't even buy the tools you rent the tools you rent them for as long as you need them and we don't need them you give them back you rent them per job they they're often used in Fleet kind of stuff which is large corporate kind of purchasing and that's really where they're going to live another s tier is going to be and people are going to hate me for it it's Festool festool's going in up there I tell you if you've ever used the Festool products you want you you totally agree with me you totally understand why they're falling into that they are a specific product made for a specific category and they're and not for anything else yeah the general DIY is not going to have any need for them even a lot of professionals aren't going to need them but for for people who are doing real custom woodworking cabinet installers cabinet manufacturers stuff like that those are the guys who want to be used who are doing high-end custom you know built-in Cabinetry those are the guys using festival and they're using it for a reason all right next up we got another tool truck and that is Matco here mattco's coming in we're gonna put them up at the a tier as well their their power tool line is dwindling um it's I I I'm feeling they might be switching over and just uh giving up and sticking to the hand tools and uh the other stuff but uh they they have decent tools they're solid tools they're there's as as well supported as Snap-on but uh they they can't get out of that a tier they're not no way they're going to go close to the S tier and last but not least we're going to talk about Ingersoll Rand Ingersoll Rand is going to fall right into that category as well they're excellent tools they're very robust very well made uh there just need to be more of them and again they don't have that kind of uh full kind of environmental support like you see from uh from Festool and like you see from Hilti anyway there you go there's your Brands rank let me know what you think let me go ahead and argue down in the comments let me know where you think your brand should have ended up in the ranking system anyway that's all I got for you today you all take care God bless and as always Shine On
