Let's uh turn our attention then to Sunday's Final in Miami Argentina against Columbia Argentina going for a record 16th ever Copa am title Colombia just in their second ever Copa America final they won it in 2001 lost it in 1975 Ali in the final of a tournament we always want the two best teams fair to say we got them here yeah I think so and and certainly when you think about Argentina yeah they were fortunate against Ecuador but you think of what the best teams are in South America and Argentina is obviously at the top of that list you think of of teams that are the best in the world and Argentina is the top of that list they haven't been at their best in this tournament however Argentina in a final as of late they don't lose we're talking about Copa America winning against Brazil in Brazil we're talking about the World Cup beating France we're talking about now Argentina with all the expectations being on their shoulders and everybody knowing full well that they were the favorites and they've been able to reach the final against a Colombia team that I must say I would have loved loved Lov loved going into this final if indeed the game had been played in a different manner tonight but the way that it played out it takes a lot out of this team physically it drains and if that conversation and that discussion had some validity when we were talking about urugai well it certainly does with Colombia now not only playing with 10 men doing it for a long period of time in the sort of weather and then more importantly you saw by the Colombian players the sort of emotion the sort of explosion of emotion after the game was over crying crying and that you're only doing that because you're letting all that emotion go and when you let all that emotion go now you're draining your body you're draining yourself and you have to find a way of coming from a high to a low to be able to then match that high level of intensity and that's very difficult to do in a short period of time Colombia is going to have a really really hard time being able to find that urgency and intensity that is needed to play a final against Argentina yeah you you it's almost like you've come off the edge you know you want to always be playing on that edge just right there and then it's like you said okay we won we're there it's over but it's not over and not only is it not over but you've got a a less day rest you were pushed significantly harder than your opponent was in in in in the match previous to the final and you've let your emotions get out before it was time for them to get out and so yeah I I agree with you all I think it's going to be really really difficult for Colombia to not only recover physically but to recover emotionally and to get back on that edge so quickly to go against you know an Argentina that was in the easier side side of the bracket had an easier run to the final that didn't get pushed didn't have to fight the way they had their bad moment which they got out of and got rescued so yeah this is I I will be very interested to see kind of how Colombia starts that match who do you think's a favorite on Sunday Argentina because they will be the home team you think so Messi will be the home team okay and that'll make Argentina home team it's in Miami Messi fans are going to be everywhere have you ever played Columbia in Miami have I ever played Columbia in Miami first have you seen Messi in this country my first think it's a good colia I don't know that you're wrong but I don't know that I would be as confident as you are that it's not going to be a pro colia crowd there was a reason why we played a lot of matches early on in Miami against Colombia the Messi fan has a lot of money but the Colombian fan has a lot of Desire I think to see their team in the final and not all fans or Argentina fans and I think that difference might mean it's going to be a lot a lot of colia fans I think they will be the home team uh I think they will be the favorite in this game how big a favorite but man I'm sitting here and listening to Ali listening to Casey and I'm thinking like Colombia is a team that's played better in this tournament Colombia is a team that I've got less questions pick them pick them then I am picking them and and I'm thinking of myself did we I just watch Colombia versus Uruguay with 10 men and they were never bothered varas never had to make us safe now I understand Dan mun is a very good player he's going to be missing and it could be an emotionally and physically draining game and one day less of rest for Colombia but I'm sitting here I'm thinking James Rodriguez is flying I'm sitting here thinking they're the more balanced team they're the team that's shown me less problems in this tournament and Argentina on the easier side of the bracket has suffered all that they almost didn't make it to against Colombia because of how they play against Ecuador I understand why you guys are saying Argentina but I came for the life of me think right now say I'm betting against Colombia not right now not with this momentum not the way they're playing how big a so you're picking then Colombia so Colombia is winning all right how big a Miss is Munoz it's big yeah really big not only what he does defensively but offensively this is a guy that gives you a natural Outlet down the right hand side why is that important because if he gives you that width down the right hand side that shift Defenders over to that area and it allows space underneath for Hames Rodriguez where now he can float and find that pass that penetrating pass that not many people in this tournament can actually find who can find that pass in this tournament uh Lon Messi yeah ham Rodriguez he needs that space because today by the way today when he didn't have that space he wasn't nearly as effective even when they were playing 11 V1 and so Danielle Munoz gives you that WID shift Defenders over to that side that free of Hamed Rodriguez when you don't have that now you're sacrificing what you do down the right hand side and you become a very dependent team on what happens down the left hand side with Johan moika Santiago Aras is not a guy that gets up and down he'll he'll be a presence in the attack but not quite to the point of Danielle Munoz and so it's going to be really important that whoever plays center forward which I imagine would be John Cordova that he gives you not only the central play but he has to give you into out runs into that right channel so that you can create space underneath for hame Rodriguez to operate how big is the experience piece here Casey you know Argentina won the last World Cup Columbia weren't in it for for as incredible as this 28 match on beaten streak is when you think of finals I think Argentina has to have the edge well there's no question that there's a reason there's a reason why countries teams whatever are you know consistently in finals winning finals stuff like that is it an overstated advantage for Argentina it's not it's not a huge overstated Advantage because you still have to have the quality of players and and Argentina's obviously churned out quality of players for decade Century if you want but I was very very Pro Columbia and from day one uh and I thought okay momentum everything's good I'm just so worried about the way this game transpired I'm just I think when you look at the experience the quality of the Argentinian side and then combine that with the extra day rest and and and how Colombia had to fight in this match to get to the final final I am really really worried about what they have left uh everything herk said I agree with 100% that they they have been the best team they're riding this momentum they're doing all that but I don't know what they're going to have left after that to be honest I honestly it's it's amazing how we play two parallel tournaments and the picture of these tournaments are very similar in terms of who gets to the final and playing at what level it feels like at Ena has been sort of limping along at times literally limping along if you are Leonel Messi but finding a way and surviving here and surviving there and winning this game and right side of the bracket right side of the bracket and it sort of it sort of it feels like hasn't kind of England sort of sense home you're saying that is definitely not what he was saying not quite but okay we'll get there in the end uh and whereas Colombia through the tougher side of the bracket being the better team team and being the team that has really entertained and that has sort of has forced us to think oh kind of shift our Focus towards Colombia like Casey was just mentioning there and it it feels like that's sort of what Spain has done in the tournament and yet you get to the final and you kind of go really is England really going to beat Spain in the Euros it's kind of the same feeling here is that you look at Argentina and you kind of think man it's I understand what you're saying it's hard to bet against Colombia it's harder to bet against Argentina because guess what we have seen Argentina do it we haven't seen Colombia do it not yet maybe this is the time that it happens and maybe this is their magical moment but we haven't seen in when both of these teams are on the table it's hard to go away from the best player potentially in the history of the game and a team that has experience winning and a team that is just getting to that point if we go back to the world final Messi was the difference in that game is he still capable of being the difference and does Argentina still need him against what we're all saying is a very good Columbia squad on Sunday to be that differen maker or is there another path for them to win what we want to see is a progression from what we saw in the last match we were all waiting to see is there going to be those handful of dynamic movements per half that we know Messi is then going to be able to roll back the years and say there's a decisive moment if we can see three or four more of those a half then yes he can be extremely influential again what is the energy level of Columbia going to be like if there is that little bit of space for him to drop off turn and dictate play Then 100% if they can have the energy and get tight and kick them a little bit and make things awkward and yeah they can they can try but there's so many other pieces that Argentina has as well to be able to punish you and we saw a much better version of that in in the Canada match than we did in the Ecuador match you think this will be a messy game or somebody else is the hero I I can never bet against Messi it being a Messi game in a final wait a second you you just you just bet against Argentina who hold on hold on you you just bet against listen to the question listen to what you just say you can never bet against Messi and you'll never bet against Messi but you just bet against Argentina listen to the question okay I listen to the question and I'm listening to your answer had a better game than Messi correct correct in the final so you could so there could be somebody who has a better game the Messi and they can pull it out what I'm trying to say here is Messi for whatever reason turns it on in these finals turns it on when the lights are on and he's at home in Miami I just think the way that Colombia is playing right now today Hamed Rodriguez had a man marker bangur he ends up going out injured and the one time you can't Mark him is on a set piece on a corner kick and he puts in a brilliant ball roet can't get through and gets dunked down and there's a goal got six assist I know Alejandra Moreno hates this but it is it's not I don't I don't I don't hate it but of all the services that jamus Rodriguez has played in this tournament good it's a floated ball to the back post and it's more it's more about Jefferson LMA dunking on his Defender and rochette the goalkeeper of urai not making the decision to come out or stay back let's not make that into James Rodriguez serving a great ball that is not the conversation the ball he's there again what I'm trying to say is I just for whatever reason see it lining up for Colombia momentum is a so you're betting against Messi then yeah yeah hold on I'm bet against ARA against Messi not against Messi being a good player there's a difference there Messi can be a good player in this if you're asking me would I put it past Messi to play well in a final no no that's not what we're talking about here Columbia is a more balanced team they're a better team there are less questions asked of this team who's been in a harder bracket If Messi has a bad game Ali yes can Argentina be Colombia depending who else is on the field and that depends on the choices that leonell Escalon makes what are the right choices there well obviously Julian Alvarez has to play okay and I think anel Maria needs to be on the field and so to answer your question about uh not only if lonel Messi plays poorly can they win they a previous question as well I'll say anel Maria has to play an important role for this team we saw the impact that he had on the game against Canada because of his willingness to do different things there is flexibility to his game an Maran can talk inside and can play make out of the Midfield from deeper positions anel Maria still at this point in his career can still run in behind he can run in behind and in running him behind he provides a threat what does that do similar to what Danielle Munoz could potentially do for Colombia down the right hand side when Di Maria pushes down the right hand side lonel Messi can shift over and now he has space because Di Maria in running in behind drags the left back and the center back into that space which then allows lonel Messi to float underneath and have a whole lot of space facing forward and so Di Maria has to have a big game when he has a big game what does that mean Copa America uh winning goal against Brazil in Brazil when Di Maria has a big game World Cup final counter attack goal because he's willing to run him behind Di Maria may just be the key between Argentina winning or losing If lonel Messi is not a his can I just very quickly add to that I agree 100% what you're saying and this is his last game at the international level it's going to mean something for him that's extra motivation it's going to be an emotional game for him I think the also thing that we noticed in the Ecuador game unfit Messi trying to really be on the field but really shouldn't have been on the field and then what we saw was the rest of the Midfield disappearing and we saw in the first five minutes of the match against Canada Rodrigo napole mallister we saw some combination play we saw them link and move and then Messi joining in which was non-existent against Ecuador so The Supporting Cast we know is so important around lonel Messi right now that Supporting Cast was non-existent in the the game where they let's be honest they got a little lucky and they got out and the experience and the quality of player and everything just got them through that bad day I think it's still extremely important for lonel Messi to have a good game if The Supporting Cast as well has a very good game around and you're talking about the Midfield and the importance of midfield for Argentina if let's go deep in the analysis then what happened with Richard Rios tonight he had to come off the field injured what's the status of that injury and how does that affect the Midfield of Colombia no Rios no Munos that's disaster right that's all I'm saying and no Rios shifting on the right hand side no Munos shifting on the right hand side that right hand side for Colombia becomes I suppose exposed and is it and is it almost then you we we talk about how Argentina has to defend with a man less does Colombia also have to defend with a man less withus so is it so is it then and even itself out and if you even itself out with the with the fatigue the players missing for Colombia it goes back to I think why why Oli and I are kind of kind of looking at that Argentinian side and how this is going to be a tough task for Columbia even though they're running away with uh confidence and the streak and everything Sunday's final at Hard Rock stadium let's get some predictions Ali final score I Argentina one nothing herk is there extra time in this one no yes yes is all right yes uh look at this there is one one and then extra time I'll okay Colombia Colombia wow okay uh Casey because of circumstances I'm going to go against my pre-tournament better judgment your better judgment is what you're going to say he's backing up and I'm going Argentina 2N okay um all right quick what's your Primo taken uh Argentina and the under a half you know that's a standard play with Argentina uh for the third place game oh God just give I don't need to score just a winner uh I think Canada is going to win CU I think uguay is not going to show up okay Ali well I think uru will show up now white version of UR that's questionable uh yeah exactly they may all be suspended well if all of them are suspended then that choice is very easy it would be Canada if Uruguay is able to play and they'll show up and they're not suspended I'm GNA take uru that's a great point I mean how many players going to be suspended you know will this game even go I imagine it goes on because of Television contracts and whatnot but I I will go with Canada it means a lot more to Canada I and by the way I am not surprised because apparently you're looking for Canadian citizenship used to live in Toronto
