[Music] foreign [Music] hello everybody it's the war hipster hair coming at you with another contrast plus painting tutorial for the new Gondor terrain yes we have the Mansion here we have the tower here and we have the ruins that we've already seen before so we're gonna be painting all three of these up because Games Workshop very kindly sent me all three and I will now have a completed Lord of the Rings table with which to play some games which is fantastic so massive thank you to them for doing that but because we've already got a how to paint Gondor ruins video we're just gonna take this ruin I'm going to remove it from the shot because what we're going to be doing is we're going to be focusing on the Tower and the Mansion now fundamentally there's not going to be too much different here it's going to be just as simple as it was before but we do have the tiles and things to do this time around so we're going to do the whole video as we usually do for these two lovely scenery kits I mean just look at them they're fantastic best scenery ever in my opinion but we're gonna be painting these up and well it's gonna just be time to grab our paints and grab our brushes so we shall be right back in just a moment so the place we're going to start with our new Gondor terrain is on the roof and this would be the same for our Gondor Mansion as well and the color we're going to be using for this is drakenhof Nightshade and we're just going to start applying this over top of all the tiles the reason we're starting here as well we've got uh got some of that traditional stone work going on around this one particularly on the tower you just want to go side to side here so you don't kind of miss the recesses it doesn't matter if you get kind of a slight variation strength of the color the tone and it's these are tiles you'd expect some weathering to happen in certain places some to be replaced seem to be a lot older than others so just move the paint around like this try to avoid any kind of large dark blobs just getting in there and shuffling that paint over a bit just like this so that dragon half Nightshade all applied as you can see on the mansion and on the tower's top what we're going to do now is we're going to take null and oil and we're going to apply this over the top of all of our remaining Stone so this is going to take a little while we're just going to start slapping it on there just like this really working it into all of our stone work and it doesn't matter if you get some of this on the tiles because as we've already mentioned a little bit of color variation is a good thing especially on roof tiles [Music] all right and what you can do if you want to is you can add a little bit of purposeful melon oil in there like this or even just go all over like I've done there you can then just wash the brush just absorb a lot of it at that sort of thing all over the miniature or bigger chair as these are and we're just going to finish off these struts so we don't get any weird drying lines of this again too much of an issue for that to happen it can happen in slightly awkward places that you don't want it to happen so you just want to watch out for that and I would say if you're going to do no loyal it was a whole of the slatted section you'll want to do that on the majority of these roof tiles rather than the minority because it will really stick out otherwise like that similarly we're now gonna power up our Tower arm this you can actually fit your hand in there so you could wear this like a you know like a quarterback does wouldn't it wanting to make sure they've got the Playbook on their arm but what we're also going to do here is we're going to apply null oil over the top of all of the stonework foreign kind of those sections of the walls gives you a really good kind of end point for a section but of course you can do this anyway that you like and we are absolutely gonna do the same thing from argon door mansion so that null and oil applied all over as you can see if you wanted to have like really clean buildings you could just finish it just here it already looks fantastic so there's a tower and we have the mansion just here as well this boy's massive they're both massive massive kits as you can see of course you can't 100 leave it there because we haven't done any of the wood yet but there we go non-oil is all over so what we're going to do now is move on to the next color which is going to be some serum from sepia now in a slight difference to what we do with the ruins rather than put this all over what we are going to do is we're just going to kind of very very kind of very casually apply this over the top of all of our stonework so we're not going to kind of be too fussed about getting this everywhere we're just going to kind of grab a big brush load of it like this and then we're just going to kind of go straight flat to the wood wood to the stone and just kind of just go for it you see so what I mean by this is I'm going to start down here and I'm just going to start applying it you see how you can hear it how kind of Rough and Ready I'm being that's what it needs to that side so I'm just going to twizzle it around you can load up my brush once more I'm just gonna go for it this is because these buildings somewhat more intact than our ruins so I think this is where people still live rather than it being constant battle maybe they're slightly newer there we go so much so that trials and tribulations of battle have not fully touched this area of the city or indeed the town maybe they've been recently rebuilt something like that it's a more like kind of the weathering is towards the bottom because on our ruins normally what we would do is we would apply a bit of Estonian camo shade towards the bottom and I don't want to do that for these it just needs to be a little bit cleaner and a word of warning and make sure you do this with a shade brush or a brush of this kind of equivalent size that you kind of don't mind destroying a little bit because this is quite being quite rough with it as you can see and here foreign well not quite done this is a bit to go so without seraphim separia all applied what we're then going to do is take some Grace here and a large dry brush and we're going to start dry brushing this in a circular motion first clockwise then anti-clockwise over the same areas all over our stone work so you just want to go one two three four one two three four like that sort of thing and so with that greasier dry brush all applied we're then going to take some padded witch flesh I'm going to do this just to catch the edges across all the stone so you pretty much just want to kind of do this hold the tower as I as I'm doing and just kind of tackle it at this diagonal angle you can do a little bit of this onto blue tiles as well I love painting these because as soon as this dry brush starts to go on just looks so good whilst it might take a while this is truly stunning Terrain I hope you love it as much as I do because I see myself just painting sort of five or six of these towers creating some truly stunning Vistas out of all the Australia Terrain okay so that's one angle done you just go about the other way actually those inside edges that we haven't got let's see with that done all of the stone is now finished on our Tower including the roof and it's also now finished on our Gondor mansion and on our ruin as well but you've already seen the ruin that's why we haven't had it featured in the video but this time so what we're going to do now is move on to the next color which is going to be the wood I'm still keeping things just as simple as we always have done with these what we're going to do is we're going to take some cycle Brown and we're going to apply this over the top of all of the wood and you do have some wood that's hiding away under the roofs and things and it's really dealer's Choice as to whether or not you bother painting that because you're not really ever gonna see it is why I would suggest save yourself some time you probably don't bother however there's a number of completionists out there so if you want to you absolutely can do there is a bit of wood right in here as you can see you've got trapdoor there because you do just want to make sure that you can get because this is visible all right that and what by mean by some of the kind of internal wood you've got areas like this but as you can see I haven't done the stone work in here and I'm probably not going to do the wood either because once that goes on you never ever gonna see up in there we go see you'd have to proper even if I do that you can't see it so the choice is yours of course if you want to do it by all means so with that cycle Brown applied to all of our wooden details what we're now going to do is we're going to take some iron Warriors I'm going to apply this over the top of any of the metallic areas this is just going to be areas like door handles and the banding on the doors foreign ly just to finish it off we're going to take some null oil I'm going to apply this all over the top of the doors and the silver and so with that final shade applied both our Tower and our Mansion are now finished and it's so much fun to paint this stuff I absolutely adore the direction that the terrain has taken for the Gondor stuff it's so modular so awesome the tower is 12 inches tall it's enormous it's absolutely fabulous and it's just such a quick and simple scheme to do and it's very very very effective very evocative of the movies and I absolutely love it if you enjoyed this video you love the channel and you'd like to support me further you absolutely can do so head to patreon.com forward
